Fandom Persona Reflection (Persona R)

I would say that it would be fair to reserve persona. I say that mainly because I know that not everyone will start into the story right away. However be sure to make a call first before reserving.

Same with Stainsoftime. I think we need more information before we can start slapping dibs on things.

You gave us a small idea yeah, but before we can even begin to decide some of these things we need more backstory regarding the location where we reside, is it in Japan? We know it's a high school club sure, but are we all immediate members? Are we all expected to be a part of the club from the beginning, how do you want the arcana to interact? There's a lot more information we need besides this as well. That's why I suggested the OOC.

This is based on the same location of p5. So we would be attending Shujin Academy. Well think of it like this. The main theme is the idea of mirror demons. On the other side of the mirrors is a world that appears similar to our own but is actually different.

So what part of the concept are you having issues with? Hell this falls in line extremely well. It's a idea based on a Chinese myth about the Fauna of Mirrors, demons that are mimicking humans through the use of Mirrors to one day invade and take our place.

As for the persona, they are our reflection of our true nature, so maybe opposites is an understatement. It's our true nature, whether it's that you are secretly a monster or you act tough but you are actually weak. In the end its concept follows Personas series quite well. (Yes we will travel through mirrors.)

We will not initially have a lot of people in the club because that would be unrealistic. How often do clubs for the paranormal gain a whole group of people? It'll be a gradual process.

Yeah, I don't get that part either. Personas are, by their very nature, a representation of a character, at least in part. But i don't think they're meant to be The True Self either.

EDIT:

Something of what I mean is, they're a representation in part of the person's own self image, how they view themselves (ex: Aigis and Paladion) and also partly how the person wants to be viewed by others (A Mask you wear to project to the world and make an impression on others)

Look at p4 the shadows expressed the truth of that person's inner truths it is a part of yourself. In p3 it wasn't the case. P5 it was you rising above your situation and acknowledging your nature of rebellion against Injustice. In this it's the reflection of your nature.

Sorry if this seems crazy >.> But I mean the concept is very simple. I chose something that explains the shadows (Fauna/demons) that is based on an actual myth of mirror demons from china.

Set up a basic area (p5s city) set up a place where the persona users of like minds can eventually partner up (paranormal club). Main villain hidden on purpose, giving very limited information to hide important story parts, explained your persona is the reflection of you (they are Fauna/demons just like in past persona games).

Tell me what information I am missing?

Shadow Selves aren't the True Self either, as much as they'd like to think that they are. They're made up of repressed emotions and thoughts, but their nature as Shadows means they're warped and exaggerated. They're a very important part of a person's psyche, but they're not the Whole Self, or the Whole Truth. Shadows and Personas may be the same power, but they're different forms and they're harnessed in a different way.

The way the Persona manifests isn't really the important part. It always comes from the same thing: acknowledge the parts of yourself that make up the Shadow, (whether it's through direct confrontation ala P4 is irrelevant) and have enough self-awareness to move forward and work on whatever issue the Shadow is wrapped around.

ANYWAY.

Your description of the story was fairly vague. I can get that you want us to be surprised by what happens, but just saying that it's based on a story where there exists a world on the other side of mirrors, and the demons on that side are invading to take over and replace humans isn't a lot to go on for some people. It would help to fully lay out the plot as it will work for the RP and how the characters and the rest of the world will be interacting with it. Another important question is how you're going to pace and organise the rp? How much freedom of movement will the characters have? Since it takes place at a school, do all our characters have to be students? Are you planning many NPCs for the Arcana that don't get chosen by the player characters?

I was more talking Theme for the Personas. 4 had the Theme for each be one of the Tarot cards, 5 had each of them be a fictional/mythical character of rebellion/theft, etc.

The phantom thieves notoriety behinds to fade, however people are chatting in forums about strange occurrences, people vanishing for long periods, and showing up out of the blue with different attitudes. The general public ignores this for the most part except for one student at Shujin who wants to get to the bottom of it. To do so they start a paranormal club to solve the strange events surrounding the city. (Would have preferred to allow you to see it unfold but here you go.)

Slowly a reluctant group of people begin to join and at first their investigations don't turn up much except rumors until certain events lead to the investigation of the disappearances. (Is this enough or do you need more?)

Just a note, P4's Personas were all from Japanese mythology (similar to how all P3s were from Greek/Roman-Egyptian mythologies) everyone's Persona in every game is associated with an Arcana, not just P4.

I'm bad at explaining.
I mean what's the theme of the Persona for this one? Yes individually they were based on the characters, but they all shared an overarching theme, be it mythology for 3 and 4 or rebellion for 5.

We could all have them be based on detective characters who represent our characters for example. A studious and deduction based character would get Sherlock Holmes, a deceptive and insightful one might get Columbo, etc.

Not a bad idea, but it requires some knowledges on the detective genre. Without a little research, I can name, like, two names off the top of my head: Sherlock and Conan. But if we are going with it then I can bring my lazy ass to look up some famous ones.

And I'm fine with either discord or here.
