Fandom Pokémon: the River's Crown Medieval Festival [Recruitment]

I've been debating on joining but my anxiety doesn't do well with big groups and this is a me thing but I feel uncomfortable when it's a thread that a lot of people are viewing, as my question is are we going to be able to play as Pokemon because there's a good majority of people that only ones to play the Pokémon part, as well as certain spin-offs like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon where there is no human focus and only Pokemon, and more importantly canonically the human that you play is turn into a Pokemon.

not that I mind playing trainers but there just happens to be some games where you actually play as the Pokemon.

This RP is designed for humans/trainers, but if you want to play as a pokemon we won't stop you. One other person indicated interest in playing as a Pokemon so chances are you wouldn't be alone in that.

However, you'd probably want to work together with some other RPers or pitch some ideas for what you have in mind. Wouldn't want you to accidentally get isolated or anything.

oh no I don't want to personally play as one, I do like a lot of people like the concept of humans transforming into Pokemon but if it doesn't make sense for the play, I honestly love the idea of jousting so I would probably make a character center around that if I were to join and that's the concept that I would center around mainly for concept not that's the only thing they do, I don't have any ideas and it was just a general question for Pokemon roleplay is that you're going to get.

besides if any Pokémon were going to be played I would want to do a Pokémon kind of Rumble thing because I love that short live series of Pokemon lol, the only way I see that stuff working if it's not a mystery dungeon is kind of going for PokePark kind of deal if your Pokémon roleplay is not center about playing Pokemon.

Yep, we've gotten the question before and it's one of the first few in the FAQ right after the two posts for the interest check.

Ultimately, since we're a Sandbox style RP we want to allow people the freedom to play however they'd like so long as it doesn't impede or harm anyone else's experience. If two RPers want to do something where one of them is a pokemon or someone who wants to play as a pokemon can find a solid and workable way to do that, then I've got no issues at all.

from what I can tell from looking at the sheets we don't have a jouster yet so I will take it up to be one, just know it's not that I don't have fun in big group plays, but I simply struggle a little bit to post in them and I will probably be in frequent on this, not that I'm leaving but I will likely throw in my character if people need character interaction and appear here and there if I feel like I can connect the current sence with them...also archery because I'm a sucker for archery characters, think it would be a fun twist that they has Pokémon with super luck so they should be super lucky but yet is quite literally the opposite of that.

To be clear, characters will be able to sign up for any event so long as they have eligible pokemon.

I know but I just struggle to make characters if I don't have a concept around them lol

On the topic of playing as a pokémon, while this might not be the most suitable RP to play as an actual pokémon OC like Mystery Dungeon style, you can roleplay as your OC's pokémon in just the same way by having your trainer's pokémon interact with other pokémon in a MD style, which has been done before a few times. Like in a scene where their trainers aren't around and the pokémon are by themselves or socializing, or even if it's just two pokémon communicating briefly, people typically use regular dialogue instead of describing sounds. Since pokémon seem to be able to communicate just fine even inter-species, and (most) humans don't understand pokespeak, whatever dialogue there is between pokémon is just between them. A lot of people also have backstories and individual arcs for some of their character's pokémon that facilitate that kind of thing.
