Fandom Overwatch- A New Age(Rp)

Of all the oddjobs that had gathered in this broken down little room, there was one man who stood out like a sore thumb even among these people. He sat in the back, closely observing the people talking among each other. The old man that had appeared on the screen had a sense of familiarity about him, though Masquerade could not pinpoint what. Must be some worker for Overwatch. From what information he’s gathered, the old operatives were called to action again. Personally, he was quite surprised people managed to track and contact him. Since Overwatch was officially disbanded, only those who had worked with him actually remembered his existence. No official record of him were made, after all.

Clearing his voice, Masquerade finally decided to talk. “You know, even the apes like Winston can have their destructive tantrums.” He spoke up. “Forgive me if you are offended, but no matter how humanity toys with the world, sometimes our nature can’t be altered. I’d be careful around some of us here,” he laughed, pausing before remembering something important. “Ah, excuse my rudeness. You may call me Masquerade.” Since nobody really heard of him during Overwatch’s days, he figured it was safe to use his alias. But it was probably better to not tell everybody he was the serial killer people called the second Jack the Ripper...

Kimiko regarded the old man with a strange recognition. Something about the lab? The videos they showed her.. the images? She had seen him somewhere before.
Since she could not place him, she thought it better not to bring it up. Instead, she thought she’d approach with caution and try to find out more.
“Nice to meet you, Masquerade. You got a story to tell?” She asked confidently.

Sampson raised an eyebrow. He'd seen the type. Dark, and brooding. He'd really only met one man who made it work without being totally ridiculous. Gabriel Reyes, the Reaper. And he'd been totally cliche when Sampson had worked with Talon on a job. Then he gave a hearty laugh. "Alright killjoy. Try not to creep out the kids we save" said Sampson. Wiping his face. And donning his construction gauntlet to fuse a few pieces of metal into a prod. Just needed a powersource.

"Putting yourself to work already, małpa(ape)?" She asked, turning to face him. "I'm not that good with tech, but perhaps my spear could lend some use to you." She said, sliding it to him. It was of strong quality, and as it slid the blade popped open and a small beam formed in a sort of casing, showing it was powered.

Kimiko saw an opportunity to be useful too, so she also approached Sampson and stood next to Rycerz.
“That looks so powerful. If you need anything else I have bots with me. And I can channel sonic energy, though i’ve never used it to actually power anything before.”

Blue laughed. "Flower, I think we'll get along just fine," he told Kimiko. He turned to the rest of the team. "That goes for everyone else too. I'm pretty chill. Except for you, Captain Creepy," he said to Masquerade, "You scare me. You stay there."
He was, of course, joking. Mostly.

Kimiko was confused as she was well aware she was a human being and not a flower, and wasn’t anywhere near as delicate. But she assumed this was some sort of compliment people used socially. So she just smiled back in response.

“Well I usually just make stuff in my spare time. Like this I’m thinking EMP. I can also make a turret and place it on your head. After gaining permission of course. Or I can make armor from random crap I find on the ground” said Sampson. Examining the spear. “I might be able to up this thing’s damage a bit”.

Rycerz nodded, walking forward to retrieve her spear. It clapsed closed and there was a faint audible sound of powering down. "Well you never work a day in your life if you love what you do, yeah?" She glanced to Masquerade. "Except with maybe him. I feel like he loves doing things that should best be left unsaid." She said, mainly as a joke. With a name like Masquerade, he had to be hiding something...

Blue laughed at what Rycerz said, leaning against the wall. "Hey Sampson, I'll let you tinker with my arm if you want. The blaster gets jammed from time to time. You don't even need to have me in the room, I can just give you my arm and wander off. Saves you from having to look at me."

Lucia hung back and listened. She didn't have much of a story to tell, in all honesty, and letting other people take the reins seemed like a much better idea. And this way, she could get a read on their stories. Kimiko, lab experiment, a bit naive but honestly sweet; maybe she could pass her a dictionary of idioms. Blue, cyborg; Samson, engineer; Rycerz, doctor; Masquerade, mystery- and then there was her, human, and she suddenly felt a little lacking. But the people seemed friendly (mostly) and she could trust them (probably). Although she didn't have much to add to this weapon conversation, and the Masquerade guy they kept mentioning gave her a bad feeling. Awkward, she attempted to lighten the mood.

"Well, I hope he's not afraid of needles, and then, realizing that that wouldn't make sense to anyone and feeling embarrassed, "because, you know, I need blood samples, to code into the nanobots . . ."

"Who?" Blue asked, "My arm. Oh yeah this little fucker is terrified of them. Goes running. It's a tricky thing, this."
He smiled up at Lightning Bug. "So where are you from? I like your accent."

Kimiko flinched at the mention of the word ‘needles’.
“Uh, if you’re going to be using.. those things you just mentioned.. then you’ll have to excuse me.” She stated bluntly.
Lightning Bug seemed interesting, but the idea of her prodding needles anywhere near her or anyone in the room was disturbing.

"Hey, flower, you alright?" Blue asked, turning towards her with a concern. He reached a hand out and gently touched her shoulder, using his human arm. "You look spooked."
Blue often felt the need to look after others, probably from having to practically raise his younger siblings by himself. He supposed that he just couldn't switch off being a big brother to others.

Rycerz offered a snicker. "We had people like you, this one man..." She cracked a grin. "We called him Szaleniec, a madman. He always cracked the most sadistic jokes... 'Did that bullet hurt, kapral? Perhaps we should amputate if you keep whining!' He was a piece of work, but we loved him dearly..." She said to Lightning Bug. "You can't nearly be as bad as him, robaczek świętojański(Firefly), so I needn't worry about fitting in."

Kimiko instinctively jumped away from Blue’s touch and grasped her arm in the place where his hand had been. She gazed at him in disbelief.
There it was again. ‘Flower’. She was so confused by this man. He was showing some sort of care for her, and she was really not used to being touched.
Outside of being strapped on to tables and the rough handling of the lab, she had never actually been touched before. Not like that.
“Why...why did you.. do that?” She questioned shakily. Was this what it felt like to be nervous? Or was this fear? Whatever it was, she didn’t like it.

Blue quickly tore his hand away, a concerned look spreading across his face. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" He stopped when she asked him why.
"It's a comfort thing," he explained, "I thought you needed support. It's how some people show it. I won't touch you again, I promise."
It was pretty stupid of him to do so in the first place. The poor girl looked scared out of her wits. "I'm really sorry," he said.

“Geez. Humans, and their touching, I know some of the older apes were kinda like you. Big nasty asshole named Remus, was there when humans were still messing apes up. Tells horror stories about old labs all the time. I don’t mean like you in the asshole way just to be clear” said Sampson. “And if you really want me to tune up your arm I’d be happy to”.

"I'm not comparing you to a big nasty asshole, but you remind me of a big nasty asshole," Blue laughed, relieved that Sampson eased the awkwardness he was feeling. "You're honestly such a treasure, big guy. And sure. I know how to clean it and repair it but can't figure out why it keeps jamming the way it does."

Kimiko slowly retracted her hand. She stared at Blue, with a fearful curiosity she had never experienced before.
“Oh..” She stuttered. “I think I just figured out what embarrassment feels like.”
She looked at her feet, but then back at him again.
“I don’t know if this is strange, but.. could you do it again?”
She winced at her own words. Surely other people didn’t do this. She felt so out of place.
“Actually, never mind. That was a stupid thing to say.”
She sat down on the floor and put her head in her hands. “The others must think i’m Weak now.” She thought to herself. How could she be so stupid?

"Hey," Blue said softly, letting himself fall to the ground beside her, "It's okay. I get the feeling you're not used to being around other people, right? And this stuff is all weird and new, and then there's me invading your personal space like a big sack of shit. Listen, Kimiko, you may say stuff you think is stupid, but so do I, so we can just say stupid stuff together. No need to get embarrassed about it."

He turned to Rycerz as soon as he heard her speak to him.

"Um... I'm nineteen now so.. about six years ago?" Blue said.

He couldn't really remember the accident. The doctors talked a lot about trauma and repression. But he knew that he was young.

"The blaster is about a year old though," he continued, "Don't go thinking someone gave a thirteen year old a blaster."

Kimiko smiled at Blue. He really was very comforting. She began to loosen up and felt less of that feeling she couldn’t pin down.
“Thank you.” She said quietly. “I.. feel better. I think. I definitely feel less bad.” She very slowly reached out, as though asking for permission, and laid a hand very gently on his arm. She winced again, finding it all very strange. But it was nice. She found it was not all that bad a feeling. She took her hand away. “Sorry, I had to see if it would hurt.” She stated seriously.

Lucia laughed at the story, ducking her head. "Trust me, I promise not to amputate anyone's arms unless I have to." It was a cheery comment that distracted her, temporarily, from Kimiko's problem. There were ways to draw blood without sticking someone, but she knew she didn't have the money for them. And if Kimiko was uncomfortable with any needles, anywhere- well, she'd figure it out. But she didn't dare bring it up again. Lucia knew enough about trauma to know that this girl had some sort of PTSD, and needles were probably a trigger. Maybe Rycerz would know a way around it. Although . . . maybe she should find some therapy books for children, or, hey, that old movie, Inside Out, the one they used with trauma survivors sometimes? That might be a good one to see. And hey, one of the main facets of therapy was a support system, and Blue looked like he was definitely building that with her. And since Blue himself needed more of a support system than he had . . . well, all the better!

Then again, maybe she should just leave this to the qualified doctor. Her EMT training couldn't compare to a PhD.
