Fandom Overwatch- A New Age(Rp)

Peach Tea

☼☼
The room was a dingy one, cracks spiderwebbing across the floors and walls while a single lightbulb covered everyone in a pale yellow light, yet not one person in that room seemed to mind. Every person in that room was all of different race, species and so on but every single heart had the same burning passion setting fire to the world. A large screen that had been stretched across the least damaged wall suddenly lit up with life and the face of an older man greeted the group.
"Im sure you all know why I'm here.. So I'm going to try and make this quick." His blue eyes narrowed as though assessing every individual in the room.
"Soon you will be given a small medallion with different designs on them true to your personality, on it will show others that you are a part of the overwatch league and to not shoot you... They also show your healers where you are if you are injured and need healing. Finally, when you get this medallion it will give you three chances.. Three chances to die and regenerate to full health, but once your three is up...," a shadow crossed over the man's face, "it's game over."

A shudder made it's way across the room causing people to turn and give each other nervous glances.
"Now, this has been short, but I have to go already. For now talk amongst yourselves so you have familiar faces and wait for further instructions." Static rolled across the screen for several long seconds before the screen blacked out.

Lucia coughed, a little awkward, into the silence. Something felt uncomfortable about this place, but maybe that was just how much it reminded her of home- flickering lights and shaky foundations had been a staple of her life when she was younger. She'd put the glow-in-the-dark-paint on her clothing for a reason- even chipped as it was, in the dark, in the rubble, they made her easy to find. But Luisa had never let fear stop her, and there wasn't any way she'd start now. Not when she finally had a chance to do something good. She stuck her hand up, so as to stand out a little more against the other people.

"So! Introductions," she called out. "I'm-"

Wait. Giving out her true name could be dangerous; someone might connect her friends back to this, and she was definitely not dragging anyone she knew into this shady business. Especially when she wasn't sure this place would even help. La Luciérnaga would be her go-to code name, but even then that might be too close to Puerto Rico, and if there was one thing Puerto Rico didn't need it was more instability. She needed another option, but . . . Lexie, her roommate at university, she'd called fireflies something else, hadn't she?

"Call me Lightning Bug. I'm a healer. It's a pleasure to meet you all!"

She grinned brightly, as if that might lighten up the tension in the room. Then, finished, she gestured toward the general crowd and hoped someone would pick up the thread. "Your turn."

Kimiko watched the man’s face as the picture faded from the wall. This was the man she went to when she was recruited. This was the man who gave her a chance. She bowed her head in a show of respect.

Then, startled by Lightning Bug’s sudden cheerfulness, and her sudden “turn”, she blanked for a moment.
“Uh, oh. Okay. Sure.”
She coughed awkwardly.
“I’m Kimiko. I’m offence based but I can provide armour and healing for a short time. I’m a sniper. That’s all you need to know. Next.”
She then gestures to the next recruit, eager to be out of the spotlight.

Sampson looked around at the people surrounding him. This was the first time he'd ever done anything without getting paid first, but well the getting three do overs sounded kind of nice even if it was a little video gamesque. There was so much stuff here he could use, it took a lot of self control not to tear the room apart, and build something out of it. He huffed at Lightning Bug. He'd worked with people like that before. Everyone was going to blubber when she died for the third time. Then there was the shy one. Kimiko, if she really wanted to work as a unit she'd need to get over that, but that was only an angry chimp's opinion. As long as they didn't start making monkey puns. He answered her question. "Sampson. The smartest chimpanzee on this damn planet" he said. Crossing his arms, and examining his weapon for a tune up.

A young man was standing beside Sampson, and he couldn't help but be amused by the chimpanzee's brash attitude. The young man saluted the group with two fingers on his mechanical hand. "Yo. I'm called Blue."

His entire left arm was robotic, the metal coloured white with black accents, particularly around his fingers and wrist. Besides that, the only other mechanical part of him was his left eye, which was an eerie bright blue and the cause of his nickname. He wore some type of gauntlet on the other arm that matched his robotic limb. He didn't look like a soldier, or anything impressive if you looked past his metal parts. He had a lanky build and a pale, pinched face with a small mole on the right side of his chin.

"I'm an offensive. This arm can become a blaster -" He waved the mechanical arm, "And this one is just happy to be here." He waved his human arm. "How's everyone doing?"

Ashlyn sat quietly, examining the group. She was glad she wasn't the only person to keep this group alive. "Rycerz." She said, breaking the silence as abruptly as a gunshot. "I'm a healer, but I can still take a punch for you." She told the group, motioning to the shield that was currently on her arm. "To będzie fajne..."(This'll be fun) She muttered in Polish, crossing her arms as she rested against the wall. "Anybody else care to speak up? Don't be shy, I know I don't bite."

Kimiko smirked at her fellow comrades. She wasn’t one for people but she liked them already. This metal man, ‘Blue’ reminded her a little of herself, just far more extroverted. And she thought he might have made a joke considering the slight laughs she heard from around the room, but she had no idea what the joke was. She looked around the silent room, waiting for som one else to speak up.
“Nervous?” She asked in to the silence. She noticed some shuffling feet. “I think I would be too, if I knew what that felt like.”

"What, you've never been nervous before?" Blue asked Kimiko. He noticed the shuffling feet and the people who looked awkwardly back and forth at each other, and raised a brow. The last time he'd been a room that felt this tense it had been in secondary school, where everyone was so terrified to be themselves and desperate to fit in. God, he was already so grateful for being nineteen and never having to deal with any of that shit ever again.

Kimiko looked blankly at Blue and stated “I’ve never really felt anything.”
She leaned against a nearby wall and brushed a lock of white hair out of her face.
“If I have, I don’t know what it felt like. Or what it was. I don’t know how things are supposed to feel.”
She looked back at Blue. “What does it feel like? You know. Being nervous.”

Blue huffed out a laugh. "I can't remember. I've not been nervous in a long time," he said. He observed the girl, trying to figure if she was messing with him or genuinely couldn't feel anything. He studied her face and decided she must have been telling the truth, because he couldn't think of a reason why anyone would make this up. "You could probably ask anyone else here though. They'd tell you a lot."

Sampson decided to give his advice, and two sense. "Nervous is not knowing yourself enough to try, and seem different in front of people who you shouldn't really care what they think of you" he said. Looking back at his gun. It looked fine. He straightened up. "And don't worry about it. All feelings really do is drag ya down".

Blue nodded towards Sampson. "Ya see? Listen to the monkey, he's full of wisdom."
He was half reminded of the baboon from the Lion King, but the young man decided it was best not to mention this. At least, not right now.

Kimiko gave her attention to Sampson and gave him a small smile. “Thank you both. I have a better understanding of it now.” She paused for a moment, thinking. Had she ever /felt/ that way? Like she cared about what the people around her were thinking? Had she ever felt ‘nervous’?
“Hmph. Being nervous sounds like it sucks. I far prefer not feeling anything.” She cocked her sniper rifle and filled her ammo as she spoke. “Not like I have a choice” she laughed under her breath.

“So go on, since everyone else seems to be giving us the silent treatment so far. What are your stories? So far all i’m getting is monkey man and cyborg. I mean that in the least offensive way. Although i’m Not sure if that is offensive.” Her face looked puzzled. “It was supposed to be a joke but I’m not sure how those work either... I am so not used to being around people.”

Sampson looked at Kimiko. "Please limit the use of the word monkey. I am a chimp. That is an ape, humans are also apes. So it really makes no sense" he said. "As far as stories go. I'm one of the greatest engineers in the world, some people wanted my services. Vishkar, Volskaya. Other companies. I've never failed a job".

Kimiko nodded firmly. “Noted. Not a monkey. I’ll just call you by your name.”
She cocked an eyebrow. “Volskaya, huh? Well, colour me impressed.”
She narrowed her eyes in confusion. “Wait, that is how you say that, right? Is this even the right context? Ugh. This world has so many phrases and sayings.”

"Amen." She called out when Sampson said what nervousness was. "After awhile you just say fuck it and give it your best. It's what I've started doing. Przyjaciel(Friend), I would not dwell on your inability to feel emotion. It can be seen as a blessing just as much as a curse." She stepped off the wall, making her way towards them. "As for me." She hefted her large spear and set it down a tung as it struck concrete. "I was, believe it or not, a doctor. As the German had their Crusaders we followed behind... Mainly support, we didn't have the money to fully fund a program like that, so the select few got to join. We didn't have hulking suits of armor, but our training and weaponry sure compensates..." She said to him, grinning lightly. "Rycerz, we were called. Knights. We were formidable, but funding ran out, so... Here I am... Essentially."

She rolled her shoulders back, looking at everyone. "And yes, you did use that phrase right, Kimiko." She added. "Anybody else care to share?" She asked, looking around.

Kimiko smiled at Rycerz. She was impressed by her, her spear was formidable and she talked like someone of great power. Kimiko decided that they would all make excellent allies. Just like Rycerz, she also glanced around the room, waiting for someone to speak up.

"As for myself," Blue began, "I was.... Caught in an accident." For the first time today the young man looked uncomfortable. He glanced to the side and carried on, "So now I have robot parts."
He reached up to tug his baseball cap down a little lower. "I'm not very interesting."

Kimiko, blatantly unaware of Blue’s clear discomfort, became suddenly curious.
“An accident? What happened to you? I’m interested.” She prodded.

Sampson decided to give another detail about himself sitting down on a nearby pile of junk. Which may make a mediocre weapon given adjustments. "I'm from Horizon Lunar Colony. Just so you don't ask how I can talk later".

Kimiko turned her attention to Sampson, her curiosity flaring. “Horizon Lunar Colony?? What’s that? How CAN you talk?”

She started to feel like she was asking a lot of questions and in most social situations she had encountered, that was a weird thing to do. So she went on to apologise.
“Sorry, living in a lab until you’re nineteen leaves you with a lot to wonder about the world. I apologise if my questions have been offensive..”

Rycerz looked at him. "Głupie gadanie.(Bullshit) Everyone is unique, what you may say is uninteresting someone may find very much so! Why, to me all my old missions before Rycerz disbanded would be just another day In the office, though I'm sure someone out there would love to hear them!" She said with a slight laugh. "But let's drop it for now, yeah? No sense In scaring the new guy."

Sampson laughed. "Oh I've got stories. Plenty of violence, murder, and infiltration to keep you occupied for a long time. Horizon Lunar Colony is this old place in space, full of enhanced apes. It's where that other agent Winston comes from. Full of homicidal, human-hating apes everywhere. Personally I don't think you guys act like sacks of fucking shit. But that's their words, and not mine".

Blue was secretly relieved at Kimiko's attention being taken elsewhere, only to then have a minor heart attack when the other woman cut in, Rycerz wasn't it? He smiled up at her, and then looked towards Sampson as he told his story.
"Sacks of fucking shit, eh? That's certainly one way to describe the human race. Or just me." He laughed then.

Kimiko suddenly clicked. “Oh, you’re like Winston. I should have made that connection.” She thought back to the first time she met him. He had been fatherly, and had treated her with such respect. She held great admiration for Winston.

Hearing Blue’s remark, she turned to him.
“You know, you really shouldn’t speak that way about yourself. You’re not even comparable to a sack of faeces.
And i’m sorry for the questions. I’ve never met someone like you before.” She gave him an apologetic smile. “I hope this encounter doesn’t hinder our relationship as allies in the future.”
