User Laine and I (chellemrys) did an RP together called 'An Androgynous Tragic Romance, Galactic Style' together. We really loved it, so we've started a side story about them.

Characters: Lieutenant Cassidy Petar, and Dr. Adrian Mason.

This is after the actual RP; in which we will clarify why Cas is still alive, why they decided to station him in Adrian's house as his 'life-partner', and we'll basically RP out little segments of their home life after the big adventure.

Cassidy waited around the apartment all day, for hours, for Adrian to return. Helmi, he has long shifts. He hated sitting around- bored. He wished he was on some mission, on an adventure, even though he was. And this was a type of adventure, a love life and a commitment to Adrian in this strange new time, that was ancient to him, on this strange alien planet... Earth. He had not gone out yet, to see the city. He only stared out of the window, knowing he would probably need money, or possibly identification to get around here. The Lieutenant knew he couldn't just walk around, gunning down people that gave him a tough time, or attacking people. He had no reason to now, and it was all very strange indeed to him.

Cas hopped up from his seat in front of the window, and headed to the kitchen. This was the first time Adrian had been gone, it was the second day Cas had been at his new station, and he was bored as Helmi. He shuffled around the kitchen, looking at the odd ancient devices, and playing with them. He messed with the microwave, pressing the buttons and making it turn on and off at the opening and closing of its door. He cautiously poked at the coffee machine, recognizing the liquid from this morning when Adrian drank several mugs of it and took another with him. Ade must worship this machine. He jumped as he wiggled the jug, causing the coffee to spill out and hiss on the hot metallic plate below it. Hastily he replaced the pot, backing away. I don't want to break that thing...

Looking at the time, he sighed. Two hours until his lover would return, and he was still bored as Helmi. An idea came to him as he opened the fridge and peered about. I'll make dinner. He chuckled, beginning to pull out the Earthly ingredients and supplies with odd looks and gazes at the items. "How tough can it be to cook this food...?"

*********

The few hours later, when Adrian was getting back to the flat, music was blaring from his apartment. Cassidy was dancing in the kitchen, singing the words to Duran Duran's 'Rio' very loudly. He was decent at singing, and he enjoyed it a lot. And he was loving the jazzy style in the song, he had played it several times now, and was ignoring the smoke rising from the stove across the kitchen. The song began to replay and he did a hip motion with each guitar rift that sounded. Then he began singing, opening the stove and letting the smoke fill the room as he pulled out slab of meat with burnt leaves floating in what looked like water and a soupy substance all mixed in a glass pan:

"Moving on the floor now babe you're a bird of paradise

Cherry ice cream smile I suppose it's very nice

With a step to your left and a flick to the right you catch that mirror way out west

You know you're something special and you look like you're the best-"

He tapped his foot on each off-beat, before beginning again in a silky smooth voice:

"Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand...

Just like that river twisting through a dusty land

And when she shines she really shows you all she can

Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande!"

Ade furrowed his brow, massaging his temples as he finally arrived home after a long, 11 hour shift. His mind had been full of nothing but Cas for the majority of it, wondering about their new life together, especially how he would cope with living on boring old Earth, without a job and with a boyfriend that was constantly away for hours at a time. Cassidy’s presence hit him like a bittersweet greeting, a slap on the cheek to welcome him home – they lived on the third floor, and he could hear loud, energetic music that he knew originated from his new partner, at the very entrance to the building. Oh Christ, Cas, I told you to be quiet! He murmured to himself, smiling and nodding weakly to the security guard who stood outside the elevator.

He could hear his voice, pleasant but loud, trailing down the corridor as he reached the third floor, speedwalking anxiously towards their flat whilst trying to avoid the eyes of his neighbours peering out their doors annoyedly. While he didn’t intend to hide Cas from the world, he definitely didn’t want to break the complex’s “no pets” rule, and figured he needed a stronger talk with Cas about noise control. Sound travels longer in Earth air than it does in artificial gravity, clearly, he noted, shaking his head whilst jamming his keys into the door and opening it.

He was greeted by the image of the lieutenant singing along with the verses he’d so easily memorised, and Ade’s eyes widened as he managed to hit each note. A jazzy saxophone solo started and he started really going for it, energetically hip thrusting and biting his lip, enjoying the new music so much that he’d neglected to notice Ade coming in. His enthusiasm made Ade grin, but conscious of the complaints he’d be getting from the neighbours, he strode across the room, turning the radio down to a loud warble.

“Cassidy, babe, remember what we said about noise?” He said, throwing his keys onto the desk and greeting the other by wrapping his hands around his waist and kissing him gently on the side of his face. Cas continued to dance in his arms, small beads of sweat hovering at his forehead as he smiled up at him. “Mmh. So you’ve figured out how to use the Cd player, that’s a start at leas-Holy shit, Cas!” Ade suddenly realised that quiet beeping in his ear was the smoke alarm - drowned out by the noise of the music and Cas’ singing - signalling the presence of the burning slab of meat at the back of the kitchen. He ran over to the stove, picking up the glass pan with a towel and threw it into the sink, making a loud crash as it smashed. He turned on the cold tap and splashed Cas’ failed attempt at dinner with cold water, before opening the window and letting the billows of smoke out. He coughed for a few moments as his eyes watered and he waited for the smoke to file out, before turning to Cas with an accusative, not-so-amused expression.

Cassidy grinned, laughing as he laid eyes on his love. He ran towards Adrian with a proud smile, "I made you dinne-" He yelped as the creation was flung with a loud bang into the sink. He tore his gaze from the dish and to Adrian's angry eyes, and whispered a confused, "What?"

He coughed from the smoke and his eyes began to water from the irritation, only then realizing the alarm was going off. He looked at the ceiling, "Helmi, what is that beeping?" The lieutenant had tried to make a dish resembling a tribal food, where they burn the outer layer of the meat and soak herbal flavoring into it. He knew Adrian hated alien foods, but these items seemed foreign to him, and he tried his best. So he fought a pang of disappointment from the rejection, and furrowed his brows, "Okay- so maybe you can't make that type of food with chicken or... An earth oven."

Adrian rolled his eyes, taking a chair out and standing on it, pressing a button on the smoke detector to reset it. “It’s an idiot alarm. I got it installed to keep an eye on you at work. It beeps when you do something stupid.” He maintained a serious expression as the beeping stopped, climbing down from the chair. He span around and saw the hurt look on Cas’ face, and his features suddenly softened. “Sorry. I appreciate you trying…just, let me teach you a few things before you try to cook again, okay?” He began fishing shards of broken glass out of the sink, dumping them in the recycling bin before taking out the huge slab of burned chicken. He smelled it, and instantly recoiled. “What the hell did you put on this thing?” He groaned, dumping it into the trash “It smells like disinfectant and mint.”

He washed his hands, shaking his head. “Why don’t you start with something simple…? Try and make yourself a coffee.” He nodded towards the coffee machine, hiding an amused expression as he watched Cas out of the corner of his eye. “Remember when you tried to teach me how to make Retkin…? It’s nowhere as near as difficult as that.”

Cassidy looked confused, "I can cook- I don't understand these weird food items and how they... are prepared." He crossed his arms, pronouncing the Earth items as primitive and silly. " He let out a sharp 'hey' of protest when he insulted the food and dumped it, "You didn't even try it." He rolled his own eyes, denouncing Adrian as picky and his tastes strange. "Chicken just doesn't cook like kalog."

He stalked over to the machine and snorted, "Simple? Yeah, okay." He tapped the machine, a little afraid to mess with the seemingly precious device. "The only reason why you thought it was complicated was because you can't read the universal Kershaanile alphabet." He huffed and wore a look of superiority, "Which is easy- only forty-nine letters and seventy-two possible combination characters." The Lieutenant laughed, "I literally was showing you buttons that said, 'driiiink', and then categories of tyyyypes of driinks, then the selection Retkin." He teased Adrian, "And you just couldn't read it." He poked Adrian's nose, crossing his arms and leaning back against the counter. "You know- I'm an alien technically." With a chuckle he opened one eye, "I'm a human, but I'm an alien to every one else. I was thinking about that today, and no one will ever know or guess, and I'm from some strange planet and time they can't even imagine."

Adrian snorted loudly at Cas. “You’re kidding me? You might not look like an alien, but anyone from around here will definitely know you’re from a strange planet if they talk to you for more than five minutes.” He gave Cas a playful shove before cleaning down the countertop from the mess the other had made with ‘dinner’. “Most people don’t refer to others as ‘civilians’, or carry lethal plasma guns around. Or use weird words like ‘Helmi’ and or “Kershaanile”. I bet if you went outside without me you’d get arrested. Or deported. Or sectioned.” He chuckled, before yawning loudly and stretching out.

“To be fair, Cassidy, I still can’t really get over what time you’re from. The things you do and talk about, it’s just…way beyond me. Like… How on Earth did they fix up your arm and face that quickly?” He frowned at Cas’ face, poking his perfectly straight nose. “I figured they’d have some kind of medical advancements, but…it’s ridiculous. No swelling, no scars, not even an ounce of muscle stiffness…” He took Cas’ once-broken arm and lifted it up and down, testing the joint for resistance and peering at it curiously. Infact, you look even better than you did when I first met you, he thought, deciding not to give Cassidy the satisfaction of the compliment, but looked at him up and down with admiration.

Cas laughed with a snort of surprise as he listened to the teasing, "Gutsy in your rebuttal, are we, Ade?" He poked him in the ribs hard as he was shoved, "What do you mean- deported? Where will they deport me to- outer space?" He sighed, "Missing it quite a lot these days. Earth's sky is nothing compared to the view of the stars." His comment was quiet, and under his breath. But soon after he was back to his cheerful self, and said, "You have to take me on an adventure, and soon."

Cassidy leaned against the counter, head tilted up as he watched Adrian express his shock at his new arm and healed bones, he only laughed: "It's called nano-med bots. We domesticate them- it's what our infirmaries are staffed by. They are tiny..." He looked around the room for anything he could compare it to, that wasn't too foreign for Adrian to understand. "Liiike...." He pointed suddenly at a copper coin, "That!" He paused, "What is that thing, it looks useless..." He was pointing at a penny, and appeared confused.

With a jab to his cheek he continued, "They register what humans look like and function like, and they fix you up! Only took a couple days to do it." Proudly he pulled at his cheeks and pushed on his nose, "Good as new."

Adrian sniffed, sounding slightly bitter. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. Nano-medicine-fixing-robot things. If they started using those in the 21st century, I’d be out of a job, I’m sure.” He frowned at Cas’ face, inspecting his nose in closer detail, trying to pick fault with it. “Yeah, it looks good I suppose. I think they got rid of some of the tiny freckles around your eyes, though.” He smoothed a thumb over Cassidy’s soft cheek, smirking.

Ade clutched his stomach as it suddenly growled. “Ugh, I forgot I skipped lunch. Seeing as your…lovely dinner…is off the menu, d’you want me to order out?” He yanked open a drawer, taking out a bundle of leaflets for nearby takeout places. “Here, take a look at these, see what takes your fancy. You can read English, can’t you?” He said joked, wrapping his arms around Cas’ waist from behind and nuzzling his neck. He sighed heavily, the tiredness of his long shift taking a toll on him.

Cas shrugged, "Naw, you could study your field as a scientist instead. But they've figured out all the big medical questions of your time. There are bigger ones then." He took the leaflets and studied the characters, "Um, yeah I can read the Latin alphabet.. I just am bad at writing in it. And typing in it." He murmured, smiling, "I speak all the big earth languages, the ones that made it to space. Three languages survived because of their space programs." He stated the three with a smirk, "English- duh, Chinese, and Russian. And I can read those too..."

The Lieutenant sank back into Adrian's arms, squirming at the ticklish nuzzle on his neck with a happy whine, "My dinner was just too advanced for your primitive tastes." Out loud he began to read the options, destroying some words, "It's been a long time since I was forced to read this stuff. Everything I write and read is in Kershaanile." Cas looked confused at the names, and the pictures. "What is all this stuff.. And do we get to leave this flat to get it?" He sounded hopeful, turning his head towards Adrian so his nose brushed against his love's, which was in reach because he was bent over to reach his neck. A devilish grin spread across his face at the idea of going somewhere.

Ade scrunched up his nose, meeting his with the other’s and moving it side to side, like an eskimo kiss. He stuck a hand out and pointed to the pictures in the leaflets, speaking in a loud, patronising voice. “This is Pizza. PEE-ZAH. Say it, PEE-ZAH. And these are noodles. NOOD-ULS. CURR-EE. RICE. And this- this is the best thing ever. LAS-AN-YAH.”

He dug his fingers into Cas’ ribs, murmuring softly, “It’s pretty late to go out and get it, Cas. It’s like…10pm.” He yawned loudly, feeling more and more tired by the minute, and he tried to resist the grin on the lieutenant’s face. “I can call them, and they’ll bring it to us. We won’t even have to leave the apartment.” He tried to make the offer more enticing by pressing his lips against Cassidy’s neck, squeezing him tightly against his chest as he sighed.

Cas looked skeptically at the food, and then him with the same look, "Don't talk to me like I'm an embryo, you jerk." He sighed, "But Ade.." He whined, wriggling at the cool wet lips on his neck, "It'd be fun." He grinned, "I could go get it myself.." The Lieutenant teased, twisting around so his chest was against Adrian's. He ran a hand through his love's auburn curls, meeting his tired gaze, "Where's your sense of adventure?"

Cas pushed Adrian backwards with a playful shove, into the counter, and he jumped backwards as he stuck his tongue out. "How does it sound to go on a wild alien-chase around... Boston?" He remembered the name of the city, and laughed, "I mean- catch me if you can!" He dashed out of the room, and snatched his backpack as he ran out the door, and down the hallway- chuckling the entire way. Once he found his way to an elevator at the end of the hall, he slid in, and shut it hastily, bouncing with excitement as it lowered towards the first floor. He yelled, "I'll even wait for you at the bottom, and you still won't catch me~!"

"Woah, woah, wait up, Cas!" Adrian hurried after Cassidy, grabbing his wallet and keys and hastily shutting the door behind him. He chuckled as he took the stairs, skipping two or three steps at a time as he raced him down. When he burst out of the door he spotted Cas, shouting "C'mere, you! ", trying to catch him with outstretched arms - he did enjoy his joking, but a small part of him was also concerned about what would happen if he got lost, especially so late at night. At the last moment, he tripped and fell sprawling on the floor, his ears filled with Cas' giggles as he carried on ahead of him.

Red-faced with embarrassment, he nodded at the group of ladies that were sniggering at him, and briskly paced towards his love, who was almost at the door. "Cas, slow down, you don't know where you're going-!" he shouted, tutting and hurrying forward to prevent him from running onto the road outside.

Cassidy almost did exactly that, run into the road. At the last moment he halted, swinging his arms in circles to keep his balance. He watched as a car whizzed by, and he stopped dead in his tracks, watching the line of traffic go by him. He lifted his brows, turning back to Adrian with his confusion evident. He hopped around, pointing at the taxis and random cars, "You have one of these things?" He yelled, excitement filling his voice, "Are those real live cars?"

Cas hopped out of Adrian's lunge for him, and hopped backwards a few steps, "Aw, no, you're gonna have to try much harder than that." He jogged with ease backwards, glancing behind himself every once in a while to make sure he wasn't going to hit anything. He wiggled his brows, teasing the other with a mischievous grin and a wiggle of his ass, "Come on, Ade, so slow!" People were staring, but Cas didn't care, or notice. He was too caught up in his flirtatious behavior and mini adventure to do so.

Ade stumbled out of the double doors of the apartment complex, panting as he nearly caught up with Cassidy. “Y-yeah, yeah I do, Cas – just, hang on a sec…” As he stood, meters away from him, he made a surprise lunge for the other, but Cas’ responses were too quick and he hopped out of the way. Ade smirked miserably as Cas carried on, taunting him with a shake of his butt. Ohh, you’re in big trouble now, Cassidy, he grinned.

Shaking his head, he finally broke into a sprint and dashed for him, almost crashing into several people as he gave chase. He chuckled loudly as he ran, but soon realised that his tall strides gave him little advantage over Cas’ endurance. In a tactical move, he disappeared down an alley, taking a shortcut and reappearing in front of Cassidy seconds later, arms outstretched. He crashed into the other, clamping his arms around him and almost knocking him over in the process. Ade dragged Cas, struggling in his arms, away from the side of the road, nipping him playfully in the neck as he did so. “And-where- do you think- you’re going?!” He gasped, catching his breath after the sudden sprinting, squeezing the other tightly in his arms to prevent him from slipping away.

Cassidy yelled in shock from Adrian's sudden appearance, and squirmed and kicked to get away from Adrian- pulling at his arms while chuckling about being tricked and caught.

Moments after Adrian caught Cassidy, a relatively large man walked up to Adrian, and smacked him in the jaw with a loud slap, yelling at him to "let the little lady go!" The shock of the smack made Adrian let Cas go, who ran away in the other direction and stared curiously at the interaction. Apparently people thought he was a girl, and they defended girls on earth? Cassidy's face contorted into complete amusement from the surprise he saw written all over Ade's face. He doubled over, laughing silently and wiping at his eyes, "He-He's my-my friend!" The man apologized quickly, now embarrassed at what he had done. But he walked away hurriedly, leaving Cas bounding backwards again and laughing still at what had just happened.

Ade turned his head just in time to meet with the guy's open palm, staggering backwards and dropping Cas in the process. His face was a picture of shock as his eyes flicked from the guy, to Cassidy, and back to the guy again, utterly confused "Whaaa? Little lady!? He's not-" but Cas promptly told him, chuckling loudly.

Ade rubbed the red mark on his face as the man hurried away and Cas started to back away again. Ade held up his hands. "Cassidy, wait, wait! Please, don't run off again..!" He groaned, still catching his breath.

Cassidy teased him again, sticking out his tongue, but smiled and calmed himself at the plea. He walked towards Adrian, "Okay, okay- fine." Cas went up to Adrian's side, looping his arm around Ade's waist with a grin, "Good try- you're just not cut out to compete with me." Teasing was his forte, the Lieutenant thoroughly enjoyed his new position to be an adorable antagonist in Adrian's life.

"Where we going? To get some of your odd Lay-San-Ya?" He over pronounced, drawling it out slow, "You're accent Really makes lasagna sound funny, Ade." Squeezing the others waist he laughed, joking about his claim- he had heard lasagna enough to know how to say it. Just recognizing the word was tougher. And any day he got to hear that strange Scottish accent was a glorious day.

Ade grinned to himself, despite knowing that he'd been beaten by the smaller lieutenant. He kissed the top of his head as they walked together, pulling him close with an arm around the shoulder as they walked in the cool air of the evening. "Considering you're military trainedand I've been at work all day, I'm not surprised. Give me a good night's sleep and some coffee and I think I'd match you at least, tattie. "

He looked down the street, biting his lip as he considered the options. "Nah, not tonight. The place I like for lasagna is closed now. Theres... A pizza place around here..? You might like that, we had something like that back on your ship, I remember. Or... There's a Thai place about two blocks away, and a curry house somewhere around here." he shrugged "You can choose, since you're the alien " he grinned, squeezing the other tight.

Cassidy grabbed Adrian's hand that was slung over his shoulder, and drew himself in close. With a sigh he leaned his head on his chest, and said, "Well- whatever that.... Pee-zaa thing is. That sounds good." The Lieutenant followed Adrian's lead, quite happy they were finally out of the house, and he pointed at one of the cars, "Were you saying yes to owning one of those, or the fact that those are actual 21st century automobiles?"

***************************************

Cassidy's mouth was watering by the time they got back to the flat. He imagined something like the food he had given Adrian back on the ship, and was eager to actually see this.. peezaa thing up close and for real. Once in the flat he hurried to the counter, following Adrian to the kitchen, "So, what are the things that you got on it again?" The toppings sounded quite strange, and he needed to recollect what they were called again. "And what culture is this food from?" He figured if he was going to be here for a while, he should find this vital information out. Otherwise shopping or conversation would be difficult.

“It’s from a country called Italy, originally. They’re mostly known for their food – especially lasagne and pizza. I love Italian food.” Adrian slid the box on the counter, opening it up to reveal a glorious steaming pizza. It was already divided into two distinct sections – one was Cas’ side and the other was Ade’s. He took some plates from a shelf and slid one over to Cassidy. “You said you liked seafood, so I got you anchovies.” He pointed at one of the long, thin grey fish that was strewn across his half. “Then there’s sun dried tomato, onion, spinach, feta cheese. Just basic toppings.” He pointed to each food as he named them, tearing off a slice and putting in on Cas’ plate. “Tell me what you think.”

“And then on my half, I just got a meat one. Beef, bacon, sausage, pepperoni, onion…” He said, cutting a slice of his own putting it on a plate, before stuffing it into his hungry mouth. “I like to use a knife and fork, but you’re supposed to eat it with your hands.” He leaned over the counter as he ate, watching Cas to gage his reaction to the alien food.

Cassidy repeated the words back to him, like he was learning a new vocabulary. He smiled, "I'll have to cook Italian food for you then." He hinted at the disaster of earlier, laughing as he picked up a big slice of the hot food. He examined it, not used to seeing red sauce. "What's the sauce, why is it red like blood?" He shrunk up his nose, "I've seen blues and greens and purples, even orange- but not.. red." He recognized cheese immediately- that was unique and all over the universe. Cheeses survived. Many of the vegetables, did not. Farming Earth was illegal now, and they liked to keep plants from Earth, on Earth.

Cas picked up the slice with one hand, the cheese sliding off and hitting the plate with a wet smack. He narrowed his eyes at the now destroyed slice, and carefully picked the cheese mat back up, and tore it in half, sliding it onto the bread again and taking a bite. Now he had tomato sauce all over his hands, and on the counter from the sauce that flew off the cheese, but his eyes lit up at the taste. He tore into it, eating half the slice in a few bites, "Helmi, peezaa du a-zaah!" (DIRECT TRANSLATION: Helmi, this thing called pizza is 'oh my'!) Grinning at Adrian he pointed at the wonderful food, and praised it, "This is so much better than the bugs I've had to eat on exploration missions." He was surprised he loved it so much, since Adrian had hated alien food so much due to the strangeness of it to him. But Cas thought to himself: But, he's a civilian- and you will eat anything. Literally anything edible if you must.

Ade nodded and forced a smile when Cas mentioned cooking. “Y-yeah, I’m sure you can. Maybe… after you take cooking classes though.” Ade smiled as he watched the lieutenant fail miserably at picking up the pizza, but winced slightly as Cas lightly splattered the countertop with tomato sauce and cheese. Oh my god, it’s like feeding time at the zoo, he thought, shaking his head. “It’s called tomato sauce. It’s a fruit. It’s really good for you…unless it’s on already greasy food, of course.” He walked over to the sink and picked up a sponge, mopping up after his messy partner.

Adrian took another slice of pizza and dug into it, still feeling hungry after being on his feet all day. He couldn’t help but grin smugly as Cas’ face lit up with delight over the deliciousness of the Italian cuisine. “I’m glad you like it – now can you see why I disliked that alien food so much?” He got again and walked over to the fridge, picking out a bottle of beer and holding one out to Cassidy, “Fancy a drink, space-man?”

Cassidy snorted, "You disliked alien food because you are a civilian." He rolled his eyes, taking a big bite of the slice, "I have eaten insects and grass for dinner before, you have not." Cas finished off his slice, and leaned against the counter island. He tilted his head to the side, taking the beer, "W-What is this?" He struggled with the metal cap sealing it, unable to open it right away. He was looking forward to trying all these Earth foods. He tapped the top on the edge of the counter, and popped the seal off, hearing a fizzle from inside.

"Carbonated?" He muttered, wondering why. They made carbonated fruit juices, but he induced this wasn't a fruit, based off the smell of it. He put the narrow opening to his lips, not realizing it was alcohol, before tilting his head back and taking a big gulp. The taste honestly surprised him, and it was bitter. With a struggle he swallowed, not really enjoying the bitter taste that he couldn't quite place, mainly because as a time agent it was advised not to drink the stuff; it made you impaired they said, and that's never good for an agent. He tasted it again, and looked at the bottle quizzically, "Why- this tastes like it has medical supplies in it. Like... rubbing alco-" Cas stopped and repeated the word, "Alcohol?" He pointed at the bottle in disbelief, "This is what alcohol tastes like?" With a snort he placed the beer on the counter, "Helmi, that sucks. In my time people get all worked up about alcohol because of its many amazing flavors, fruit flavors. Not whatever beer is. It also seems weak." He tutted the words, babbling on without understanding his error, that Earth did in fact have more alcoholic beverages, and fruit ones too! "I don't understand why people enjoy the impairment- I've never had alcohol, or felt a need to do so..."

Ade chuckled. “Huh, so you’ve really never tried it before? I thought you were joking.” He gulped down his bottle, giving out a satisfied ahh as he did so. He rolled his eyes at Cas’ quick dismissal of his own drink. Of course, he wants the more expensive option. He leaned back over to the fridge, pushing back various food items and pulling out a slightly larger, brown-coloured bottle. He reluctantly took off the cap with a bottle opener and handed it to him. “Try this. I was saving this for when Gus next comes around, but I guess you can have it. Strawberry and lime cider. It’s sweet.” He nodded enthusiastically at Cas to at least try the new substance.

He finished his own drink, and took Cas’ abandoned bottle of beer, taking swigs of it between mouthfuls of pizza. “You realise drinking is a Scottish pastime, right? There’s no way you can meet any of my family if you’re teetotal. They’ll think there’s something wrong with you.” He joked, smirking into his bottle.

Cassidy shrugged, "There's no reason to be impaired, for me at least." He stared at the bottle placed before him with a skeptical look, certainly being hesitant. He thought it over, and decided there was no reason not to. It wasn't like he was going to be springing into action at any moment- he was on Earth, in the 21st century, in his boyfriend's apartment.

With that reasoning he carefully picked up the heavy bottle, his dark eyes scrutinizing it. With a sigh he picked it up, "Fine-" He didn't want to be an outcast to Adrian's family, and he knew he had to get used to Earth things pretty quickly. "Just to try it, so I'm not... teetotal." He had no idea what that was, but took a modest gulp of the drink. "Hm- not bad. Tastes like... Amal and... Cirretu all mixed up." The bitter taste of alcohol was hardly there, it only felt a little strange. Like it was.. dry, but wet somehow at the same time. He took another big gulp, "How often do you drink?"
