Dice Our Shenanigans

- Moss Adamaris -
"Bird Village"

Moss thought back in time. "Your kindness." He squeezed his hand fondly. "And then I heard you sing in the inn, and honestly I swooned." He looked away, chuckling, embarassed. "Back then that was just a little crush, and admiration. You couldn't swim, yet you saved my best friend. I was also and still am impressed by how smart you are. Making Smoky, being able to read ancient languages, that dissappearing with fire and then reappearing somewhere else in blue flames. And you don't brag at all." He added looking at Isa in admiration.

" Then, after I learned you gave peace to demons who I thought are monsters that deserved only death, I was moved. And I thought what a rare kind man you are. You made the Southern Lights for me, and then that made me want to do things for you."

"In the mines, I didn't want you to feel like your hands could not be touched, and I wanted to make you happier. You were also flirting with me sometimes, and when I realized I like it," he shrugged, laughing, " I went O! I think I have a big crush on this guy." he smiled. "That time I was teasing you and hiding my face in my sleeping bag, I was actually smiling because you thought I was handsome." Moss looked pleased and giddy.

"And when we were stuck in the Khlûl′-hloo camp, I wanted to protect you, I wanted to hug you and not let go and make everything feel better. I realized you meant a lot to me. And when you weren't at my side after we stepped through that portal, I was . . . I felt . . . Just, saying no, no, no, all over again. That time you already meant so much to me. I had to go back to Windshear to see if you were okay. I was going out of my mind just wondering if you died, or if you ended up somewhere else, and what was happening to you. I didn't care about that blasted flying abomination that chased me, or the blizzards. And when I heard your voice again, I cried afterwards. I was so relieved. I wasn't thinking about my feelings at that time, but I was already sure that I was already very in love with you, because of . . . ", he looked at Isa trying to find the words, " your Isa-ness. And . . . That's it . . . All that you are and did made me like you." He gazed at him adoringly.

That’s very specific is what Isa thought as he stared at Moss with wide eyes. He wondered if he should’ve been more specific while admitting why he likes Moss and his thoughts started to whirl into a tornado of conflicting emotions. Most of them of glee and girly fluffy feelings of butterflies in his stomach that somehow traveled up in his head.

Outside, he is frozen still. Staring at Moss with a gaping mouth and wide dazed eyes. His face, ears, and neck turned red as cherries the more he listened to the merman. After reconnecting a wire inside his brain, Isa finally said something. “. . . Arrrrf. . . .I . . . You’re nice~” It was the wrong wire! Wrong wire!

“ . . . I can’t h-handle . . . Brain g-gone.” Isa tried in his fluster as his head steamed.

Moss laughed, surprised at Isa's reaction. "So this is how to make you all blushy!" he grinned delightedly. He played with the temptation to make him blush redder with more declarations of love, but this was an honest moment, and so he decided not to tease. He squeezed Isa's hand and waited for his brain to come back here on the stone bridge under the light of the lanterns. Fireflies winked in and out among the fronds and lily pads floating on the trickling stream below. Frogs croaked and crickets chirped, while Moss watched his --- well, not yet his --- flustered cinnamon bun with an amused smile.

Squeezing his hand back, Isa leaned in and nuzzled his red cheek on Moss’ chest. Wanting to hide from everyone’s view. Closing his eyes as he breathed in the merman’s scent of sea, citrus, and a little something else that Isa could only describe as Moss. Just listening to the frogs croaking and crickets chirping with plops of water from leaping onto the lily pads. After calming down and thinking clearly—-as clear as he could get after the honest confession, the redhead slightly leaned back and looked up at Moss. A warm smile brightened his face.

”and ya call me a cinnamon roll. Who knew ya are a sweetie~” He reached up, going on tippy toes to peck his cheek and whispered in his ear with a luring purr. “If there weren’t people around, I’d express myself more.” Then he squeezed Moss’ hand and lightly tugged.

“Let’s go?” He asked quietly.

Moss embraced him. He caressed his head until he calmed down.

"You turn me into a sweetie." he chuckled. Then goose bumps went down his spine after Isa's alluring purr. He blushed, speechless for a moment. "Y-yes."

As they continued their walk, he looked away and quickly wolfed down the rest of his barbeque, then tossed the sticks wherever, wiped his mouth, and then breathed on his palm to check if his breath was okay. He straightened up.

"You know, Isa," Moss rubbed his thumb across his wrist, "we can find a place where you can express yourself more?" he suggested hopefully. "That is if you want to, of course." He added hastily. "Talking's also nice, I havealottotellyouabout the labyrinth and, uh, thecirosflowersaroundthe place?" he said in quick succession.

Isa chuckled. Moss is so cute.

“Then let’s talk while looking for a quiet place. I do want to know about the labyrinth and the ciros flowers.” He squeezed his hand gingerly, peering through his red fringes. He hoped that Moss will relax a bit while he talked, take his mind off a bit first.

”How did it go? Fighting raptors and all.” Isa asked as he walked besides the merman, casually looking around to see any quiet spots. Maybe they should go to the outskirts or the hill they sat before during the festival’s night. “Were they scary? Had feathers?”

"Isa, they were terrifying, look." He lifted his shirt and there were the long stitched up gashes that had been raked all the way down across his chest and stomach, but they were healing.

"One of them jumped me from waaay over there," he made a sweeping gesture, " and mauled me! I couldn't get it off me! I had to wrestle it down into a pit and its breath smelled so bad!" He scrunched his nose. "But I beat it! I actually forgot to cut off the claws, because I ran away in case more of them heard the racket and came. Which more of them did when I returned, but that battle went better than the first and I ended up getting a nice pay for six pairs of raptor claws." He smiled, proud of himself.

Then he sighed. "The things I gotta do to make a living." He looked down at his dark shabby patched up pants. The same one he's always worn ever since Isa met him in Cascata dell' Oceano. "But with this, I can buy better gear." He pulled out one of his seraph daggers, examining it. From this close, Isa can tell they were used, second-hand. He slipped it back into his leather chest strap.

"The labyrinth was very beautiful, though. Tall like cliffs, but made of old mossy stone bricks, little waterfalls flowing down from above, sound of rushing water, and covered by thick vines with these beds of purple flowers that glow blue in the dark. They have a pretty gradient --- oh! I can show you Isa." And he gently pulled him under a lantern. He took out a black feather from his spell component pouch. Concentrating hard, his hands glowed white and with a swirl of frost the illusion of a flower that didn't glow appeared on the palm of his hand.

He...wasn’t expecting the long gashes and his expression reflected that sentiment. Horror and sadness shown through, hiding the overprotective anger that’s’ starting to seethe. Then it was burned away with fiery acceptance, looking at the scars as if they were badges of honor. Isa reached out to gingerly touch the angry red surrounding the gashes with gloved fingertips. Only to stop half an inch away. It’ll hurt if he touched it. He’ll keep it in mind for later . . .

The redhead silently listened, indigo eyes raptly followed what Moss was showing him. The merman can tell that he is thinking about something with the way his eyes are staring. Then those same eyes looked back into his teals. A quirk of a smile appeared, gentle and sweet. “That sounds fascinating, Moss. Now I want to come over to study these ruins~ Oh?” His interests peaked as Moss showed him an illusion of the flower.

”That’s beautiful ~” Isa purred, cupping his hands over Moss’ as he leaned in closer to see the details of the illusion. His smile grew as he spotted the subtle touches of frost vines swirling around gorgeously to form the flower. “I’m impressed with how detailed ya put in the flower. It’s usually hard for newcomers—- took me months to get the petals right like that.”

"Thanks." grinned Moss. "Do you want a bouquet tomorrow?" He thought back at the flower beds in the ruins where he saw the biggest and most beautiful ones dangling from the vines.

Isa pondered. “No. It’s best to leave them be but I can come with ya if ya like?” He smiled. “ That way I can study the ruins and see those flowers in it’s peak of beauty.”

Yep, his eyes are sparkling in excitement at the idea now.

"The room sounds better." He winked roguishly, squeezing Isa's hand. And with rushed excitement, pulled him towards the tavern.

They hadn't even reached the door yet and Moss was already passionately making out with him. He fumbled for the doorknob and half-stumbled in, shutting it behind them. The blushing barmaids passing by in the hallway with mops and buckets could hear that someone was pinned to the door and being satisfied.

Isa turned red, chuckling as he let Moss pull him to the tavern.

Okay, he is still new at kissing and making out. The merman surprised him with the passionate make-out, pinning him to the door as he fumbled for the doorknob. Making them stumble inside and never letting up as he shut it behind them. He let out a surprised gasp as he got pinned to the door again and well . . .

Let’s just say that his mind got blown.

Oh he tried to kiss back, don’t get him wrong. Expressing himself more with touches and nibbles on neck and shoulders once Moss finally let’s go of his lips, but those were few. By the end of it, Isa could barely stand. Knees ready to buck as he heavily leaned on the door and gripping the knob tightly with one hand. His other arm wrapped around Moss’ neck and gripping on his shirt. Dazed and breathing in noisy gasps. “ . . . F-feels gud, Mou filooos~”

“S-should . . . S-southern lights?” He asked, hugging Moss closer. Lips barely a centimeter away.

Moss quickly supported him. Out of breath too, he nodded, nuzzling his forehead. "Sure, if you want?" he chuckled, rubbing Isa's back soothingly. "Though, do you want to have a break first?"

"Of course, Isa." Moss whispered immediately. He asked him if he'd like help to the bed and helped him if he wanted it. He gently untied Isa's boots and took off his coat, hanging it neatly on the chair's backrest. He placed his own boots next to his, then tucked Isa in before snuggling with him under the covers.

He brushed his red hair out of his eyes. Lying on his side, elbow propped on the bed, head resting on his palm, Moss moved to give Isa most of the bed space. He caressed his hair, down to his neck and shoulders. He watched him rest, rubbing his belly, and smiled in peaceful happiness.

Even little things like this felt very homely to Moss. And he liked being enveloped in it like this with Isa. Oh how his heart ached to be more than his temporary date. The thought of parting and the possibility of seeing him again in love with someone else was making many jealous no's stirr in his chest. He sighed in want.

How do I make you mine without being selfish about it? He thought in secret. Do I have to buy a ragnite lantern and accept your trading goods?

His hands glowed white, and after a while, the sound of gently falling rain surrounded them, though not a drop was trickling outside the window glass.

"Isa," Moss whispered, gently rubbing his cheek, "do you want to buy ragnite lanterns tomorrow?"

Isa held onto Moss when he helped him to bed, always keeping his arms around him as they got themselves comfortable. Once his head hit the pillow, he closed his eyes. Feeling Moss’ touches, he smiled, resisting his urge to squirm from the light ticklish feeling from his tummy rubs. Letting out a quiet ‘Mwee~’.

It feels comfy, warm with how intimate they are. It made Isa feel sleepy and dazed in a good way.

“Hm?” He hummed when he felt Moss’ hand be a little cold as he caressed his cheek. Barely listening the whispers. Then he snuggled close to the merman, nuzzling his face on his chest, and wrapped his arms around him. “Why do ya ask?” He muttered on the merman’s neck before he kissed it. “I dun wanna force ya when ya dun wanna.”

Moss shivered from the kisses. This surprised him. He didn't know his neck was this sensitive. Does he be honest to Isa? Or does he say something about wanting to save, but now he can afford it . . . He hugged Isa tight. Tighter than usual. Like he didn't want to let go. "I . . . want to attract you to me some more, so that other people will have a much, much harder time wooing you." he blushed.

Silence. Squeezing Moss tight within his arms in hopes of comforting him, letting him feel the hard beatings of his heart against his chest. “Moss~” He hummed soothingly, rubbing the spine up and down with fingertips. Then he leaned back, cupping his red cheeks to stare back into Moss’ clear teal blue eyes. Smiling gently.

”Ya know . . . When I kissed ya in your dream, all I thought afterwards were ’I can wait for him’.” He admitted quietly. “I still think like that. To me, you are worth the waiting—-perhaps I’m too much of a romantic or read too many books, but I haven’t felt a connection like this before. I wanna treasure it, treasure ya when the time is right. Should by the time I find ya again and ya are with someone else, I would be heartbroken first. Mourn, then feel relieved that there’s someone beside ya.” Then he chuckled, embarrassed.

”I’d feel jealous too. Not gonna lie, I’m not a saint. I wouldn’t hold it against ya or the person ya like though. I shall pray for ya, hoping that ya’ll have a good life after helping your friends.”

Moss relished the tight hug, and melted from the back rubs. Isa's touches were nice. He looked at him, listening with a soft expression.

"Same here." He sighed. "I'll wait as well, though I too meant what I said, about you being free to love someone better, Isa." He said in all honesty. That wrenched his heart, but he could never cage Isa. He wanted him to be the happiest he could be. "But, I'm still going to do my best to woo you because I very much want to find out if we're compatible for a life together." He said stubbornly, hugging Isa tightly into his chest.

“Hnnnn~” Isa melted, half of his brain thinking quickly as he was about to give in and then-

Moss will find himself pinned to the bed with the redhead hovering over him, elbows holding him up. Barely chest to heaving chest as he broke their intense kiss. Dazed once more as he worryingly stared at Moss. “C-careful. Y-your wounds.” Indigo eyes suggested at the merman’s shirt.

“May I?” He whispered, barely grazing on his lips with his own.

Moss gaped. "Don't care about wounds," he whispered breathlessly, "just want to kiss you even more now." he didn't move. His brain was slowly flat lining, eager for what Isa will do next. "But, I'll be careful for you." his eyes fluttered half-shut from Isa's lips. Dazed, he nodded.
