Fantasy Oriens Academy [Reboot]

Babette

"How'd I end up here?" the fish-girl wandered clumsily on her sea-legs, her flipped dragging haphazardly along the ground. Babette's movements were somewhere between waddling and dragging. Before long, Babette had spotted two other students; a female, probably an elemental (@The Succubi Queen); and a male, apparently leading the female around (@Advent Azure). "Hey!" Babette shouted, trying to waddle toward the pair.

"Um..." her index finger reflexively made it into her mouth, head tilting to one side in a curious, cutesy manner "Where am I? Um... What classes do you guys have next?"

"...huh?"

The last thing Azure expected to happen was to be called out by someone, especially by a voice he's never heard before, and looked to see, someone he's never met before, just as he sorta expected

"Er... you're in the Courtyard... er..."

Azure wasn't sure how to address the person before him...

"Well uh... I'm Azure and this is Naomi"

Azure gestured toward her, introducing Naomi for herself.

"I don't have any classes for the rest of the day, so that'd be for another day at the very least for me."

Azure was a little concerned, since with all the commotion, Mel was likely to go away from this area, probably to find some peace and quiet. With these 2 here, let alone 1, there was very little point in trying to talk to Mel, just to see what was up with her. Azure was sure he'd wouldn't be taken seriously, or get any real response from her...

"Okay!" she cheered gleefully. "Right now I'm taking uh... I um..." Babette looked up, as if lost in thought. She hummed as if she were a computer with its fan running. It was as if a line of steam rose from her head. "I forgot!" she admitted with more gusto than perhaps appropriate. She lifted her knee, and the hand in her mouth reached up to her head, knocking on it.

"So um. Hey! I'm Babette. My mommy told me not to talk to boys like you, but mommy's not here right now, so don't tell her m'kay?" Babette trailed.

Something about her cheeriness, if you can call it that, uplifted Azure's current mood a bit. She may be a bit of a goof, but maybe that's just what Azure needed right now. But...

"Uh...??"

Azure had no idea what she meant when she said that. Kylier said that girls saying that have something in mind... But didn't explain much further no matter how much he asked. Is she dangerous? From this, despite this girl's personality, he couldn't help but be a little nervous.

"Er..."

He looked at Naomi for a bit...

"What kind of boys would that be Babette? I won't tell...??"

Naomi had rather enjoyed the "tour" she had received- it was much more effective than a map, that was for certain. And while Azure didn't have much information about the social order of the school, it was pretty easy to glean from his attitude that her own cousin Rose held a considerable amount of power. She wasn't too fond of that- it meant she'd need to be careful about her more fun side. How boring.

She refrained from rolling her eyes as a Neried approached them. Did this girl really not know where she was? She obviously knew they were at a school, and this was rather obviously a courtyard of some kind. But- first impressions. Was she sucking on one of her fingers?? What was she, five?

She let Azure answer the question, for fear of saying something snappy, but when the blue haired girl began talking about her 'mommy' Naomi had to cut in, if in a slightly polite way.

"I really think you ought to heed your mother's advice, Babette. After, all, boys like Azure here are nothing but trouble." She ran a hand through her long black locks nonchalantly. "Oh, and if you put your weight on your heels instead of your fins, it makes walking quite a bit easier." She gestured at her own finned feet, and bobbed back and forth on her heels, showcasing her well-practiced balance. "It takes a bit of practice, but any intelligent Elemental can understand the gist of it eventually." Naomi knew Neried's were more attuned to the sea than Undines (which were primarily river spirits), but her Siren heritage meant she knew a bit about the transition from sea to land.

"Seriously? Are you a ******* child?" Mel had been ignoring Azure and his new fish friends just fine until one of them started babbling like a ******* elementary school kid. Her immature "cutesy" child act reminded her of that two-faced ****, Bunny, which was not a good thing. But there was the fact of how such a brat like that even enrolled in a ******* military academy.

Mel stood with up straight, head held high and a piercing gaze locked on the nereid. Laika was at her feet, circling the girl, possibly recognizing her hostility and deeming at least someone in the area as an enemy. "If you're going to keep such childish ideas, then I suggest you leave this place now. This is a place where you learn to fight and you wouldn't even make passable cannon fodder."

"And you. Don't ******* encourage her," she snapped at Azure. "But I probably shouldn't expect much from someone with no spine."

Azure gave Naomi a look when she said that Azure was trouble. That's not entirely true, he just attracts trouble to him. If someone is looking to cause trouble, they are going to look for Azure, and do it to him! Which... is pretty bad...

"Naomi I'm not trouble, don't listen to her, people trouble me is all! That's what she really means!"

Again, Naomi showed off her helpful side, just like before doing... that... she's something else... these two girls were something else, but everyone has a deal, and its not like Azure didn't have one either. Azure's hope of leaving before something attracted Mel's attention fell wayside as of all people, Babette seemed to set off Mel, only to turn to Azure just because he went along with this. Already in this day, being ordered around, forced labor, and insults? Now was the time to put his foot down?? Azure decided that he could at least try talking back

"I have as much of a spine that I need Mel, and not everyone is here to learn how to fight Mel. Even if she is a kid at heart, isn't Vash one too? Well... actually... I can't compare Vash to how sheltered Babette seems... Maybe she's just here for non-combative reasons. But..."

In the end... Azure thought that Babette being this innocent, might actually be a problem considering how much goes on here

"Well... I think you are right still Mel. This place has problems... and if someone like her gets caught in the middle..."

Azure shook his head and turned to Babette

"What brings you to this school anyway? Like Mel says, this probably isn't the kind of school for you."

"Oh really?" Mel replied, arms crossed. Her eyes went from him to Babette and finally Naomi. "And here I thought you were, yet again, being pushed and pulled around by literally every girl that crosses your path." She rolled her eyes, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

Her eyes narrowed into a glare when Azure compared Vash with this over-sized toddler. "I don't appreciate you undermining my servant by comparing him to this . . . thing. And you'd do beter not to underestimate him." The nerve of that ******* tadpole. Vash may not be the brightest, but even he acts closer to his age than that goldfish.

One more unimpressed glance and she snapped her fingers, signalling Laika to stop its pacing. "Well, enjoy your . . . whatever you're doing," she said, before turning on her heels and disappearing into the main school building.

(My next post will be the timeskip.)

Babette

"Momma told me you know when you see them." Babette explained.

Then, the other girl started to talk. Out of nowhere, the stranger seemed to attack! The nereid stammered back, not really sure what to say. Surely, it was not the first time that Babette was talker down to. Her face, however, suggested otherwise, as it contorted into an uncomfortable grimace. "I-I um..." she tried to eek out, reclining back. Babette, being new to the school, hadn't expected being bullying so soon. Babette pouted.

Babette grumbled, unable to think of a comeback.

~~~~~ Day 1 of the Unity Festival ~~~~~
~~~~~ 10:00AM ~~~~~

Rose

Location: Entrance Courtyard

With: No one

Today was the day. The first day of the Unity Festival. Lights and decorations littered the school and so did the attractions of the students. The drama club was putting on plays during the weekend. Many students were setting up shops and cafes to earn money. The object shifters were playing another stupid game of prop hunt. People had started voting for the Spring Court. And there was already a line at the stadium for the Capture the Flag games.

Rose herself was at the entrance of the school, welcoming everyone in. This weekend was going to be their busiest, that's for sure. Not only were parents coming to visit the students here but Oriens was open to students from other schools and kingdoms. It was meant to be a sign of peace and acceptance, but this always worried Rose. Not everyone was that happy with the way Oriens did things. The St. Michaelis students especially seemed to cause trouble for them, but her father refused to ban them from the event. Her own mother said they should increase security, but forbidding anyone to attend went against the message of the event. Rose could see where they were coming from but she still didn't like those undead students, always looking down on everyone.

Still, she kept up her smile as she waved everyone into the gates, handing them pamphlets with a map of the campus and a list of the events held there. For now, she'd have to be diplomatic. Can't look bad in front of everyone after all.

Notes:

Family guests can probbaly stay in the student dorms with their family. And student guests could most likely stay in empty rooms. But the majority of guests will most likely stay in hotels and inns in Adelmar, the nearest city.

Mel

Location: Roof Garden

With: No one

Mel was the roof of the school building, watching all the people gathered below for this festival thing. It seemed like a waste of time, just an excuse to party or whatever people did at these things. All she knew was that she wouldn't be getting a nice peaceful weekend. kIt wasn't all too bad though. The food seemed nice. She had long lost Vash to the beckoning smells of fried foods and sweets. He couldn't have run off fast enough. If only he was that quick in battle.

Sipping a frozen lemonade she had gotten on the floors below, Mel's eyes narrowed past her glasses as she spied the hugs and cheers of students reuniting with family and old friends. Sickeningly sweet enough that the tartness of her drink couldn't wash out the nausiating taste. It wasn't envy. Totally wasn't envy. Not completely.

As it wasn't doing its job anymore, Mel tossed her drink, missing the trashcan not even 3 feet away from her. She heard a couple chuckles coming from the bench she was sitting on as it inched closer, as if to urge her to try again, on an easier level. Mel scowled, punching the seat, which promptly stopped the laughter, as she got up to properly throw the cup away.

Vash

Location: Central Courtyard, by a fried dough stall

With: No one

Was this what Heaven was like? Or Eden? Wherever you went when you died? Food and games everywhere. The scent of sugar and frying oil filling the air. That place had corn dogs! That one had candy apples! Fried candy bars?!

Vash was stuck at a crossroads, arms filled with foods while his nose and eyes were pulling him in so many directions at once. There were so many foods to try that he hadn't even gotten a chance to eat them yet. He just had to collect them all. And then there were games. So many games. Games where you hit things. Games where you shoot things. Prizes. So many prizes! And there was going to be 3 days of this?! YYYAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!

The demon was practically jumping now. Gah! Why? Why did he have cloning powers?! He wanted to do everything! EVERYTHING!

With this sort of festival going Azure, everywhere being lively, everyone having fun, it was only obvious that a few 'party fouls' might go on. Knowing his luck, he get caught in the middle as much as he doesn't want to. It seemed obvious that the cause might be one of Kylier's misdeeds, something subtle in the public prying eyes would miss. He thought his best bet would go be around Rose. It only makes sense given her position in school would to greet people on in right? Regardless... Making his way through the mounds of everyone having a good time was no easy task, but determined, he managed to catch a sight of Rose at the gate, doing her job giving him a little smile from this.

"Hey Rose! Uh... How's it going?"

He made his way up to her, off to the side, to not get in people's way, and not be a nuisance toward her hopefully

"Everything looks lively and all, you must of worked hard and be proud how things were going."
