Also! If we are gonna get into crafting stuff, and Bastion looks like it will be the hub city we frequent, we may at some want to invest in a base of operations and a workshop.

There will be options to get a workshop going at some point, if you want to. Maybe in the Bastion, maybe elsewhere - might even depend on how well you're doing... doesn't have to be the first priority, though. In the beginning, there will be access to most things you might need.

Minotaurs can ride stuff. Just thought that if someone doesn't want to have a mount, there should be other ways to keep up with the others.

I'll still go with hooves, and when the time comes for me to need to speed up to keep pace with the rest of the party, I'll either get a mount of some kind or get some magic footwear made up for me.

I would think it is better to not get hit, than have to try and resist damage done. Just my opinion.

If you did, you would certainly be astride the horns of a dilemma! Ha!

Hey Nyx, I have this really great idea. You know how I am squishy and you are like... the toughest thing on the planet? Well, I get some nice healing spells prepared for you- we can literally become a tank. You slash them- and I hide and heal you. All I have to do is shit up high on your shoulders. No biggie, right? Commmme onnnn

Rofl. Nyx won't be big enough to do that until he's sixth level and hits his Large size.

But that still doesn't mean you can ride him!

Silanon Silanon

Hey boss! What color was the kobolds of Grits tribe? Or were they fairly mixed.

And, reading some more. There were some potential traits based on what type of region a tribe comes from (in this case warm mountain or cold mountain) as well as optional traits based on a kobolds color.

Not that I can afford any more traits.

Silanon Silanon

And! More importantly. Kobolds tend to lawful evil alignment. Needless to say, Grit wont be evil. Would his alignment then best fit as Lawful Neutral?

Color of Grit's tribe: You tell me. Preferably something other than the desert colors to tell them apart easily - would be a mess if you ever run into both tribes at once and you're the only one who can tell them apart. They can have mixed colors, or a general color theme that agrees with Grit's appearance.

I'd say that the mountains would count as warm climate. Mostly because I don't want to deal with heavy snowfall. Yet. Who knows where you decide to go, after all...

LN sounds like a fitting alignment; open to deal with both good and evil, and determined to do the job. You could, of course, go for other alignments as well, or make it so that the alignment changes during the course of the rp - some people might try to influence you that way...
One thing that I forgot to mention directly: Kobolds do not mind slavery. In fact, they like to enslave other tribes, and enforce a quite strict hierarchy; that's mostly what makes them lawful. Within those bounds, they enjoy a big explosion every once in a while just as much as most other races.

How does 70gp for a combat-trained, mountable giant weasel sound like? I think the dire weasel is too much for your budget to handle, but we can keep it in mind for later during the rp.

Also: I think we'll use the medium experience track. If I feel like things are moving at too slow of a pace, we can always make adjustments to speed things up a little.

One more thing for the entire group to think about:

My initial plan was to just let the group arrive from the nearest larger city - starting with characters that are roughly familiar with each other. Given the nature of the group, that feels inappropriate.
So right now, I'm planning to send you all to a particular place of importance, each of you with specific reasons to be there. Question is: Would you prefer to have met earlier, or to meet there for the first time?

For warm mountain next to a desert, I think then a mixed tribe that's predominantly blue would fit pretty well.

As for alignment, I'd love to see it change over time as he grows more accustomed to being in the world, to actually becoming good aligned. Even taking the Redeemed Kobold feat which would turn his scales to metallic. Given they are currently blue, would make him silver later on.

A giant weasel sounds great to me! And leaves me some pocket change.

Sherwood Sherwood A few questions about Renna:

Do you see the Talbert's as a family primarily focused on knowledge and magic, or as engaged in the politics and earthly power? I reckon they make their fortune by magical means, or do they have some other trade that is the foundation for their wealth?

Where are the Talberts located? In the north, far away from the war? In the center, close to the capital and global politics? In the south, where war rages? Or in Westpearl, the only colony of the kingdom and far enough away to ignore a few of the law's restrictions?

How involved would they be in a war - directly, as loyal allies of the king? Just doing the least amount of work, more focused on their own plans and studies?

How many talented siblings/cousins etc are there? There was much effort made to grant Renna the powers she wields - does that make her the best hope of her family for the upcoming years, or only one amongst a few very talented spellcasters?

Can you specify the celestrial being for me? A servant of Sarenrae, given your religion, or something else? I can work with everything out there, I think, just would like to know what deity might be more inclined to watch your family than others.

Can you tell me more about Mordeth? I know the appearance, but what is your eidolon like? Ferocious,? Mysterious? Always tired, or hyperactive? Anything else of note? Is Mordeth usually around, or would Renna only perform the summoning when help is needed?

Sounds good to me - should work out well with the rough storyline I had in mind.

Many members of Renna's family are very much involved in the politics of the kingdom, and the bulk of the family is located in the capital to be close to the king. The Talbert family is a mix of being loyal to the king and directly involved in the war and being aloof and stand-offish to be able to focus on their magical studies, but overall they are very much allied with the royals.

Renna has two older brothers that have developed magical talent, along with a few cousins that can sling spells. There is great pressure in the family to follow in the family business and study magic of one sort or another, but it is rare for anyone in her family to be able to manifest an eidolon so young.

Lets go with a servant of Sarenrae of some sort.

Mordeth is a relatively young and playful spirit, but does have the occasional flash of wisdom and insight for Renna to be able to tap into. I would have him around as much as possible, but there are many times that having a small dragon running around is just not going to be appropriate.
