Fantasy One Night At The Tavern (OOC)

Deities?! Such fools! These minor pesky false gods think they can stop me?! I am born from both a god and a demon. Being the only one of my kind, I have inherited everything and am immune to everything!!!

(Jk lol)

Well, for power level, I designed Naya to be the equivalent of an 11th level DnD character. (3 levels of Paladin, 2 levels of Monk, 5 levels Argent Fist (homebrew variant.))

Any thoughts on the other characters and where they would fit?

I mean, it'd be strange to see someone with a repeating firearm and then have another person from a country who hasn't obtained gunpowder or the technology of firearms. Similarly, the style of clothing will probably be inconsistent, and while you may pin that on different cultural/ethnic backgrounds, I still think we should have a general placement of time for the style of clothing, whether it be Dark Ages, Middle Ages, etc.

Of course, if your character can somehow time travel / go across dimensions (not sure if anyone has touched on that sort of character yet), then that style of clothing factor doesn't really apply to you.

Similarly, I could see a character who is an inventor having technology others may not have access to, especially if its powered by magic. For the sake of detailed dialogue, it'd also be nice to note whether or not fantasy creatures or magic itself is common or rare, though I assume it'll probably be considered common when you have so many strange beings showing up at your tavern.

I mean, it may seem like I'm overcomplicating things, but this sort of stuff should be decided before we get deep into roleplay so that we can avoid misconceptions or mistakes, and to add to the fluid and casual nature of our roleplaying. It's just a matter of worldbuilding and setting stuff in stone.

Personally, I'd favor medieval, guns I don't find interesting because fighting with them is pretty linear and the things that make it interesting (aim and reaction time) are hard to model in a rp without getting bogged down with dice.

As for time travel, unless it’s really well organized (hard to do with a lot of people working together) I can’t say I’m a fan.

I agree with you on both remarks. I do enjoy magically-empowered guns, something just to launch a mage's magic further and with more precision (see Youjo Senki's mages for example), but I completely understand your stance on them, which is very much truthful. Similarly, time travel would be a mess, and I'd really rather not deal with it at all, but I was stating the one exception to the clothing rule that I could think of. Though, it goes without saying that monsters probably won't keep up with the hip new fashion trends. It should be fine, as long as they aren't in a hoodie or mech suit.

Jesus. I stopped getting notifications for the OOC. Hang on, I'm at work but expect a massive spam of replys once I get off.

Ah, there has been a weird glitch lately in alerts. Also, I will not be here this weekend. Hopefully you guys don't go crazy far into the rp.

Hahaha, I figured it had to do with notification errors. I've been on this site for a few years, and that's one thing that never changes.

I need to actually do the math on how much a mercury body suit or large two handed weapons made of it would weight to actually quantify how strong Iryz is because it's scientifically speaking "crazy dense" (about 1.7 times that or iron) so being able to move around with deer-like agility implies she's damn strong.

As a fencer, I'm considering making a second character who would use a rapier/sabre of sorts and contrast Raginheri's simple savagery and hardiness with a more haughty/educated vibe. They'd probably be of noble descent, and would be well trained in diplomacy, persuasion, etc.
