  All of these can actually be done by the mom. She can either get breast cancer, since she's already in her 40s or so, she can also be a workaholic and had to balance several different jobs at the same time to raise her kids, or be an alcoholic since she turns to alcohol every time her husband leaves her.
  
  
  • Can be invasive or non invasive
  
  
  From what I have read, breast cancer can be immediately treated if it's still discovered in an early stage. I've been searching for a disease that is deadly, but still gives the patient a chance of survival, so it works with that.
  
  
  Uterine Cancer
  
  
  • One of the most common types of cancer in woman, and 25% can be found in women who are about to go through menopause.
  
  
  • Can be invasive or non invasive
  
  
  Like breast cancer, uterine cancer can be treated when immediately found in the earliest stages.
  
  
  AIDS
  
  
  • May be caused mainly by sexual intercourse.
  
  
  It is possible, considering that she had three husbands, after all. Plus, it may stir up some drama and conflict between the siblings once they learn that a certain father was the cause of their mom's disease, I think.
  
  
  • The illness alters the immune system, making people much more vulnerable to infections and diseases. This susceptibility worsens as the syndrome progresses. With this, the mother can act as if she was healthy, but gradually, her disease will worsen. Death is also possible here.

Ooh! I like the surnames Blair, Anderson, Ackerman, and Reynolds the most. Out of the three diseases, I think breast cancer would be best.

I think AIDS would make for a lot of drama. Especially considering that if she got it from any father before the last, she could very well have passed it to the father in a coma.

Okay here are my opinions;


Surnames; I think Blackford, Collins and Daniels sounded really cool


Sickness; I think Breast cancer would great since the mother has three husbands and it would make lots of conflict of how she got breast cancer
