One and Only

"I only did what any husband would do love. And you stood up for yourself. Thats all I need." He said. "Princessa or not." He put an arm around her, kissing the crown of her head. "Lunch?"

Kaliyah smiled eagerly. "Please." She responded as she relaxed into his arm when they began to walk toward their next destination, bags of clothing in hand.

((Want to skip ahead a few years. They find out she's pregnant and is nervous about telling Roderick?)))

It was late in the day and Roderick was just returning home from a long day on the docks. After months of inactivity, he began feeling antsy so he took a job being a heavy lifter at the docks.

Now, he was looking forward to a relaxing evening with his wife. He opened the door and steeped into the coolness of the Foyer. "Kali! I'm home love." He called.

Kaliyah had been upstairs in their bedroom, book in hand, lying on the bed. Her nerves were beginning to overcome her. She patted her stomach lightly, deciding to put it off until she had calmed down.

"Upstairs dear!" She responded, forcing a smile to her lips for Rodrick's sake.

He came to their bedroom. He leaned close, pecking her lips. "How your day, Princessa?" He asked, turning to change.

Kaliyah smiled warmly and watched him curiously as he began to undress. "It was just fine. And yours?" She inquired.

She had to tell him. It was his child too, after all. But her nerves were getting the best of her. She would wait, yet again.

"Hard and sweaty." He replied, shoulder rolling to work off an ache. He pulled on his more comfortable clothes; loose pants and a billowy shirt.

"Well I'm glad you're home. Would you like me to massage that shoulder, dear?" She offered, smiling up at him with her big blue eyes. Gently, she set the book down and patted the bed beside her.

"You are an angle." He murmured, sitting with his back to her. He smiled over his shoulder at her. "Feeling alright? You look a little pale." He whispered.

Kaliyah began to gently a massage Rodrick's shoulder, deep in thought as she did so. It took her a moment to realize he had asked her a question.

"Oh yes, I'm fine dearest." She forced a smile at him and quickly stole a glance down at her stomach. Thank god nothing was showing yet.

Roderick frowned but left the topic alone for now. He leaned into her hands, sighing happily.

After a while he pulled away, standing up. He turned to her. "Ready to go eat Dinner love?" He whispered, pulling on her hands to Help her stand.

Kaliyah nodded, but getting up stole her breath from her a little. She leaned against Rodrick a moment, then turned to smile up at him tiredly.

He looked down in concern. "Are you alright Kaliyah? You look ill. Shall I call a doctor?" He asked, holding her up. He was extremely worried. In a world like theirs, it wasn't uncommon for someone to die unexpectedly.

Kaliyah shook her head. She'd rather bring him the news instead of a doctor. Sighing loudly, her eyes flicked to the ground and she played with her hands nervously.

"I'm uh... I'm pregnant, Rodrick."

The former princess sighed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Yes I'm sure. I've known for a while now, I was just scared to tell you." She admitted as she gently rubbed her stomach.

Roderick scooped her up, peppering her face and neck with kisses. "Don't be scared. I'm so happy Princessa. Over the moon. I love you." He mumbled.

Kaliyah breathed a sigh of relief. She had been terribly worried. "Thank you. I was just nervous that perhaps you wouldn't want a child. I know we did not plan for one." She did feel a bit faint, so she leaned against Rodrick once more for support.

"I love it. The idea of something just you and me. I'm excited. We should get you to a doctor though." He smiled and lifted her bridal style.

She nodded and allowed him to lift her. "Where are we headed again, dear?" She asked him quietly, smiling up at him.

"Dinner. You are now eating for two." He said firmly. Knowing that he was going to be a father put him into high protective mode. He would stop at nothing to make sure his family was healthy and safe.

Kaliyah sighed. She barely ate enough for herself, let alone two people. The couple made their way downstairs to a deliciously prepared meal placed out on the dining table.

The former princess pulled a chair out and seated herself, her eyes scanning over the meal. It was definitely too much food for her to handle.

Roderick watched, smiling at her look. "Hey, you don't have to eat everything, just enough. Promise me." He kissed her forehead.
