"Well, unfortunately you have to enjoy your shake alone. My class starts in 6 minutes", he said after he finished his meal, getting up and digging his wallet to give some money for the shake. He was pretty relaxed when it comes to money things even he was a squatter in his early days.

Clair stood up with him. "That's alright," she said with a sad pout, "I'll just go home.. I'll pick you up after class though, just call me." She picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder, getting ready to leave.

"I can walk too but I wouldn't mind your company", he said with smile. "Thank you for the ride anyway", he said gracefully and glanced the cake pieces. "I'm going to eat it later. Do you want some evidence about it?", he said with a small smirk.

"Oh, I'll be watching you eat it," Clair said seriously, "Let me walk you back to college though," she said, heading out of the door and holding it open for him.

Logan shrugged with a small hem. "Fine by me", he said and went to get a doggy pack for them, going out and giving her piece of cake and a spoon to her. Then he watched his phone again, expression darkening a bit. "Oh, this time of the year again....", he muttered mostly to himself.

Clair tried to peek at his phone. His change in expression indicated that something wasn't right, "What is it?" she asked softly, trying to blunt the curiosity out of her voice.

"Noo just that.. Time to dig a bit past again", he said as he put his phone away. "I messed up with drugs when I was young and the headmaster needs doctor's statement that I'm clear", he said with a bit lower voice. "I had my reasons. Let's say I wasn't blessed with a secure childhood."

"I could do that," Clair said without missing a beat, "Just tell me what I need to write. That is, of course, if you aren't doing them anymore. I'll take your word for it in any case."

"She only accepts from my own doctor", he said sorryful smile. "Otherwise that would have been fine", he added and ate a bit his cake. "Thank you for not immediatly judging me. Not that I would have waited that, many people just do which is really ridiculous"

"I'm sure," Clair mused, reaching for his hand once more, "I am not exactly appreciative of the fact that you had an addiction, just that you have gotten out of it."

"Didn't wait for it either. Yes, I'm proud about that also, I've been clean for 32 years", he said with a proud smile, taking her hand again.

"Excellent!" Clair exclaimed, though she was unsure it was because of him taking her hand or for the fact that he was clean, "I don't understand the need for a review then."

"They don't usually listen me to end but will shut after I tell that. It's just frustrating because seldom there's no reason behind getting to a company where they use hard drugs", he explained. "I escaped from home, I didn't have choice", he added as an example. "I am killing you with curiosity am I not?", he said with a hem.

"It's nothing unique, really. My father was an abusive alchoholic and I never met my mother, nor I had any relatives", he said with a dismissive tone and a shrug. "Thank god my mother is the one who is an elf."

"Ah I see," Clair mused, "I don't supposed you've visited your father since?" she queried, trying to prolong their conversation despite having arrived at the college.

"No, I haven't. All I know that he has been long dead", he said with a small smile. "But I need to go now. We can talk more about this later if you want", he suggested and smiled a bit more puzzingly to her. He wasn't sure if their relationship's growing closer is a good thing, but he was also thinking why she was so interested about him.

Clair nodded with a heartbreaking sigh, "I'll be going home. Call me when class is done alright?" she said, reluctantly letting go of his hand, "Go on," she said, staying quite still.

Logan flashed a sorry smile to her and nodded. "First time I wish to be a pupil in here: I could ditch", he said tongue in cheek to make her feel a bit better. Waving her goodbye, he hastily went to his lecture.

After watching him disappear into a lecture hall, Clair began her long walk back to her car. Followed by a long drive back home. Strangely, she felt lonely for the first time in a long time. She sighed, wishing the hour would pass by quickly.

"Good afternoon fellas! I hope there was finally some fine food in cafeteria because I didn't eat there there!", he greeted the class cheerfully as he entered, lying his bag on the chair. "Yes sir, you were eating with miss Maxim", one pupil who has been so many times in his class that he have understood that he doesn't need to be as starchy to Logan as to other teachers. "Yes, I was. A student of mine. Lovely lady", he agreed with the student with smile. "So what we have here.. Ah, defenses. One of my favourite", he said briskly and started to lecture about them.

"I hope you all also remember that I'm retiring in couple of weeks so I'm waiting a pile of bouquets and whatever you think old man needs on my room's table!", he said mischievously at the end of the lecture, waiting pupils walk out and then taking his phone, calling her.

Clair had been catnapping in her dingy apartment when the ringing phone startled her out of her sleep. Rolling out of the sofa and falling onto the floor, she rubbed her head a little before answering it. "Hello?" came her groggy voice while she rubbed her eyes.

"Hi, it's me. Are you okay? You.. don't sound normal", Logan said, thinking a while right words. Normally he would have said bad but she wasn't sure how she would react on it. "Did I wake you up? I'm sorry", he guessed.

"You guessed right, but it's alright. I'll be right over," she said, snapping her phone shut. Somehow, the day had seemed to get hotter. So she was clad in just a tank top and a pair of rather short shorts as she drove over to the college. She pulled her phone out once more and placed a call to Logan, "I'm here."

As Clair said that in phone, Logan was already knocking her car's door with a smile and then sitting in the car. "That was fast"; he commented and watched the clock. "I have 2 and half hours until another lecture of mine starts. So, where shall we go?"
