Regarding your question, for the most part, yes. The high power ones are recognizable but like a large business, a lot of the lower ranking are unknown. Spies and what not as well.

Made-men normally aren't recognizable. For RP purposes, I'd like the the four made-men to be more of the underground types, you know? That way they can do a lot of the kidnapping and going undercover. xDD They could be familiar, if you'd like though.
It also depends on how long they've been in the mafia. Older members tend to be more recognizable than the newer ones, etc.
