Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

It was quiet, when Melody put the harp away, but Archer was still in good spirits, a skip in his step, and even Lucius had to admit he felt a little better. If he didn't think about home, he didn't feel so angry. Finally, though, they hit a small town, a village really, and were able to get the horse fed and then themselves.

"Come on," Archer said, waving them along. I've been through here before. I know where a good place to eat is."

They finally made it to a small village and Archer told them he knew a place to eat. She was starving, so she would absolutely love something. First though, their priority was the horse and then they could worry about themselves. She looked around, the buildings looked so small...one hovel could easily fit in her bedroom. This whole village could probably fit in her whole castle at least twice over if not more. She looked around at everything, sadness on her face.

Lucius was busy with making sure their horse was taken care of properly and so didn't watcha s Melody looked around. A they walked though, Archer hooked an arm through hers, a very open and clear gesture of 'This is mine, don't touch', and Lucius knew he'd missed something. This wasnt a dangerous place, really, but Archer was trying to make her feel safer, so Lucius kept an eye out. He'd had to leave his sword behind, not able to carry around her family crest on it, but he could still defend them.

Melody didn't mind that Archer walked with his arm around hers, she rather liked it since it made her feel safer. "I never knew that some people had to go without the things I have," she said with a sad tone as she looked around. She would now too, but....she was just so used to luxury and had never been out of the palace, so she didn't really know any better. She saw a few people who even looked starved, begging for some coin for food. She bit her lip. She didn't have any money to help though and she felt bad. "I...think we shall sell that necklace," she whispered softly to Lucius. It wasn't like it was very important, it wasn't even her mother's favorite.

Lucius raised an eyebrow but only nodded in response. "If that's what you want." He had seen where she was looking and could easily guess what she was thinking. "You can't feed and house all of them, you know." He didn't want to be cruel, but she would have to learn if she wanted to stay away from her castle. The poor and begging were almost everywhere.

Archer just patted her arm and pulled her forward still. "We'll fence it once we're in a bigger town, darling. To easy to get caught in little places like this where everyone knows everyone."

She just sighed softly, knowing he was right. "Still," she said. "It just doesn't seem fair to me. She felt Archer pat her arm and she looked at him. She nodded, "You're right. It will have to wait." She just sighed softly. To think, she had been at home, wasting food that these people could have ate.

Lucius shook his head as they walked into the small bistro together. "You'd best just stop thinking about it. No one can save everyone." No matter what. He didn't like it either, but it was the truth. The found a table and sat down, and Acher just smiled. "A the expert in travel, I think it's only fair that I order for all of us." Lucius didn't argue. He didn't even know what they served.

She followed them into the restaurant and sat down at the table with him. She sighed softly at Lucius' words and simply nodded. He was right, there was nothing really she could do. She nodded again when Archer said he would order and wondered what they served here. She was hungry though, and didn't really care what they got to eat.

Archer ordered three different things when their order was taken, and just smiled a little when the waitress was gone, having already begun trying to charm her. "If someone doesn't like what they get, we can just share, but I think it'll be fine."

Lucius shrugged a little. "You know better than I do." Lucius had no problems sharing, and trusted Archer to know what was good. He also wasnt picky about what he ate. As long as it sustained him, it didn't matter what it was.

She smiled a bit and said, "And I'm not much of a picky eater." It was true, she loved most foods anyways, the only time she wasted food was when she couldn't eat everything on her plate. When the food did come, she started eating, focused on it because she was so hungry. "Are we going to settle in one place, or just travel around like Archer does?" she asked.

Lucius finished chewing and swallowing, because he was polite about those sorts of things and because he wanted to stall for a few more seconds. "We'd be safer traveling. . . But I don't think you're suited to it." She'd lived a cushioned and carefree life, and traveling was difficult, even if Archer stayed with them the whole time to help.

Archer only shrugged, offering no support for her this time. "He does have a point. It would be hard for you."

She listened to the two and sighed softly. Oh how she did want to see all the things Archer saw, to go on adventures. "It might be hard, but....so will just staying in one spot because I won't have the luxuries I'm used to, so let's travel around and go on different adventures," she smiled softly at them before eating some more of her food.

((Taking a nap))

Archer was grinning at him and Lucius didn't like it. "You know how I love adventuring, LuLu."

Lucius' eye twitched. "Call me that again and you'll be dragging behind the horse instead of walking."

Archer just laughed, and Lucius knew he had lost. They were never going to settle in one place, were they?

She listened and then felt a bit bad, not considering Lucius's feelings. "If you want to we can settle," she told Lucius after his threat was made to Archer. "We don't have to travel around." She thought that Archer could go traveling around anyways without them.

Lucius frowned a little, looking away self-consciously, and shook his head. "No. If you want to travel, we'll travel." Truthfully, he worried about never seeing Archer again if they settled. Archer was a free spirit, after all, and never liked staying in the same place for very long. If they settled, he would leave soon enough, and there was no telling when he would come back. Lucius wasn't sure he could keep his head if his friend weren't around.

((Chores))

She saw him frown and then he spoke. She looked at her food and said, "It's not just about me. You got dragged into this too and I want to make it as easy on you as possible, so you if you want to settle, we'll settle and if you want to travel, we'll travel, your choice." She slowly started eating her food once more.

((Okey dokey))

Lucius tried his best not to glare at the table, pushing his food idly around his plate. "I already agreed with you," He said, as mildly as he could, "So stop arguing with me." If she was going to fight his compliance and his decisions the entire time, he might abandon her sooner than he thought. But, in his head, he knew he couldn't do that, no matter how much she aggrivated and chafed at him. He couldn't just leave her alone, knowing she would die if left by herself for too long.

((Taking a break))

She sighed and just stared at her food now. "I wasn't arguing," she said in a small voice. She sighed and stood up. "You guys can stay here, I'm going for a walk." She then went to head to the door. She didn't know what to do, she was trying to be nice to him and make this easier on him, but....she still had the feeling he hated her. She didn't want that.

((Wow. LOTS of chores.))

Archer gave Lucius a look, one returned with his own look of question, then just shrugged, rolled his eyes and got up. "I'll go shadow her. You're buying lunch, then."

Lucius sighed and let him go, and continued eating only because he knew he would need the fuel. This was going to be the start of a very long, very difficult journey.

((Nope, just a lot of dishes lol))

She just walked around the village for a bit, soon getting the feeling someone was following her. She looked around but didn't really see anyone. She just shrugged and continued walking, she soon stopped where a rock was and sat down, putting her face in her hands.

Archer waited for a long while as she sat and did nothing but wallow in what was probably self-pity. After a while, he walked out into view and just wandered over to her, purposely letting his footsteps make noise so that she would know he was coming. "Someone looks a little depressed." He said, crossing his arms loosely over his chest and just watching her, his usual smile gone. "Homesick already?" If she wanted to go back, after ruining everything for Lucius . . . Well. Archer knew some very good places to put someone where they could never get out.

She looked up at Archer as he came over to her and sighed softly. "He hates me doesn't he?" she said simply. "I don't want him to, but...I do understand why. I hate having to drag him into this. I was going to try and make it better by having you leave a note to my parents that told them this was all my idea because I couldn't marry that monster, that Lucius wasn't to blame and maybe he could go back and have his life back again." Her head was just resting on one hand now as she looked up at him.
((Have to leave in a few hours))

Archer let out a quick bark of laughter and just tarted pacing slowly, almost as if he would circle her but instead staying in front where he could see her face. "You thought that would help? Dear girl . . ." He shook his head. "You have good intentions, but not good actions. Whether you leave them that note or not, he can never return home. The King and Queen will be looking for someone to blame, and even if they decide he hasn't forced you to write that letter, he'll still be the scapegoat for facilitating your escape. Nothing you do can change that now."

((Not going to be replying as much as I was....still love the rp though ^_^ ))

She looked at him as he laughed and watched as he paced. "I suppose you're right," she sighed softly. "I suppose I deserve it if he hates me." She sat there for a minute and then got up. "I think we should head back. So...you think I shouldn't leave the note anyways?"

((Got new internet restrictions or something?))

He held his hands up and shrugged. "I suppose if you want them not to worry, you might as well. It will do them good to know you're safe and sound." For now, anyway. There wasn't any reassurance that she would be the same a week from now, or a month, or a year. But still, parents were always worry warts. Or, so he thought. "You can say your goodbyes, as I doubt you were able to before you left.
