It's because it was targeted for male audiences and kept getting female viewers and female viewers of shows that produce "boy" toys like action figures isn't the target audience and therefore it wasn't worth it to keep it running, according to the studio. The new version is dumbed down and made silly because it's more likely to attract really young male kids thus regaining the target audience at the sacrifice of the show's quality, plot, and character development.

Okay? I have watched several episodes because I didn't feel like changing the channel, AND OH MY GOD. This show is so fucking one dimensional it makes me fucking sick. Cyborg is now just the stupid best friend of Beast Boy and goes along with pretty much whatever Beast Boy does (unless plot convenience, of course) Beast Boy is basically the show's punching bag. Anything bad that happens, happens to Beast Boy. Bad roof? Ceiling falls on ONLY Beast Boy. Near a volcano? Only Beast Boy is stupid enough to fall in the volcano. Beast Boy gets hit by a laser beam FROM SPACE. Beast Boy was my favorite character!


Robin? Robin is the stupidest of them all! He irrationally blows up situations, overcomplicates things (for plot convience) and he's portrayed as the stupid leader of the Teen Titans who doesn't know how to handle a situation like someone getting a cold. "OH MY GOD YOU ONLY HAVE A FEW DAYS TO LIVE! WE NEED TO GO ON A body adventure."


Raven? She's depressing, mopey, and the only rational member of the team. She's suggesting the good answers to problems, but she's ignored because, "Oh it's just Raven, Robin knows what he's doing," AS HE JUMPS OUT A WINDOW!


AND STARFIRE? Starfire is just a sexed up toy for Robin to fawn over but obviously never quite get there. That is her reason for existing. For Robin's fantasies.
