Noah gave a small smile and nodded "Mmm yeah I think I could head out there, how long do you think it'll be?" He asked quietly massaging her hips gently as he watched her.

Max nodded and sighed heavily "A lot has happened Ivar, but right now I think we both need to rest and we'll talk more about it later okay?" She said giving him a small smile

She shrugged. “No more than a week. Maximum. It’s all above board stuff as well.” She murmured, “we should probably start getting up, I’m gonna go sort out the flights for Majorca. We’ll leave this evening.” She told him quietly, still making no move to actually get up though.

He smiled tiredly and watched her. “Stay… til I’m asleep… please.” He murmured, flexing his fingers to try and hold her hand until the baby started fussing.

Max gave a small nod and got up to kiss his cheek gently "Yes of course love." She murmured before tending to the baby smiling softly "He's so tiny, but a perfect little bundle." She said softly as she sat down infront of Ivar again.

Noah nodded and pecked her lips repeatedly "Mmm sounds great." He murmured before moving to flip her over so he was hovering above her "If you wanna get up then you better hurry, or else I'm gonna have my way with you." He whispered in her ear before starting to let his hands roam and his lips lay kisses all over the place.

Ivar never did fully recover from this one. Over the past three years his hea.th had slowly begun to deteriorate to the point he had been forced to fully retire from the company, much to his dismay, and spent most of his time at home with Max and Erik. He knew that it was a struggle for Max, both to watch him get weaker and try to keep up appearances for Erik at the same time. He adored their son though even if he wasn't Ivar's by blood.

He made his way into the lounge after spending half his morning going over papers in his study, smiling at Max curled up with a coffee while Erik spent his morning at nursery, "Sorry... That took longer than expected darling." He murmured. He had grown softer in his approach with her, even moreso than he had been originally, wanting to make sure that when the inevitab;e happened she was sure that he loved her and there was no question.

Carmen yawned quietly as they made their way through the airport to meet Ben to take them home. It had taken longer than she'd initially planned for them to finally marry but over the last few years she'd learnt patience with Noah. That he would stick to his word but he always needed time. They'd spent a couple of weeks out in their villa in Majorca. They'd grown to love it there enough that they'd bought a place together. Their home away from hpme when they needed rest from the hectic life that was their normal.

This time she knew it was Noah that needed the break so they'd extended their honeymoon from a weekend to two weeks and it had beem perfect. He'd been a little paranoid lately after an old friend from LA had told him that shit was going down and he'd heard Noah's name mentioned in passing a couple times. It was highly unlikely that anything would ever reach them but she knew that Noah was worried nonetheless. "He said he's brought the porsche. And that it might take a little longer to get home cause there's some roadblocks around the area. Cops have been cracking down on drink driving after those accidents last month." She told him while he pushed their luggage cart

Max looked over at Ivar and smiled softly reaching out for him to come over "Thats alright darling, how are you feeling today?" She asked gently while she placed her coffee on the small table infront of her. She'd be lying if she said that the past three years had been easy. Having to sit and watch Ivar's health further decline to the point she knew he'd be gone sooner rather than later had been taking its tole on her. She didn't want to loose him, he had been so amazing lately. He'd taken Erik in just like his own and that had been so lovely to her, to see him be a father.

Noah frowned a bit and nodded some "Oh....I see, well hopefully they don't give us a hard time." He murmured while he pulled his suitcase and her carry on. He was over the moon about finally being married to Carmen, it was like the last puzzle piece they needed. He was ready to get home though, the LA business was concerning to him. While he knew Ragnar had more pull and power than anyone he formerly worked for, he didn't want it coming to possibly hurt Carmen. He gave her a small smile as he looked at the rings on her finger and sighed happily "Can't believe we actually did it."

He smiled tiredly at her and moved to carefully sit next to her. “I’ve been worse.” He murmured, holding her to him once he was comfortable “how was he going in this morning?” He asked her quietly, gently rubbing circles in her palm with his thumb, enjoying having her right there

She smiled up at him and nodded happily, “long as Ben isn’t drinking we will be fine.” She assured him, wrapping an arm around his waist until they got to where they could see him waiting and she waved over. “I think we put a fire on when we get home and I will unpack in the morning.” She told him while they headed to the car with Ben.

Max smiled softly "Better than the past few, he seems to be getting the hang of things better." She murmured before kissing him gently and curling into him some "I love you, you know that?" She said softly.

Noah nodded happily as he opened the car door for her "Mmm that sounds great actually. Few glasses of wine, some anime on the computer while we're under the furs." He murmured happily as he followed her into the car.

She smiled and shook her head. “Fine as long as it’s not your tenth rewatch of attack on titan.” She muttered, shaking her head again, taking his hand gently and leaning back. “Thank you Ben. I hope Iskald hasn’t been too much trouble while we were gone.” She told him, yawning a little while they drove out of the city and back to what was now their home and not just hers, secluded and quiet the way they both liked it but sighed as they came up on the roadblock. “At least it’s pretty empty round here by now.” She muttered.

He nodded and smiled. “I’m not sure why but I know that you do.” He murmured, kissing her nose. “I love you too though, I thought maybe Alyssa could watch Erik tomorrow night, we could go for dinner.” He suggested. “Have a night to ourselves.” He murmured, pulling a blanket over then.

Noah rolled his eyes and laughed a bit "No I was thinking Nauruto." He murmured before kissing her temple gently. He kept quiet most of the time letting her chat with Ben while they went on their way. He frowned a bit when they got to the roadblock and tensed a bit "Lets just hope we can get through quickly."

Max smiled some and nodded a bit "I like the sound of that. We haven't had one in a while." She murmured before pecking his lips a few times.

He smiled some and held her close. “I’ve got a couple things to do at the office tomorrow. Offered Hvitserk some help with a job.” He told hee quietly, “And what did you want to do for your birthday next month?” He asked, his hand starting to shake so he dropped it to his side now, smiling when he felt her pick it up.

She nodded, rubbing his arm gently to soothe him. “You wanna order pizza tonight?” She asked him quietly, just wanting to get home and get curled up by the fire. She was the most relaxed she had been in a long time, waiting patiently while they spoke to Ben and she mostly was watching the cop talking to him so she hasn’t noticed the other one walk around to the other side of the car and raise his gun. She didn’t register it when the one talking to Ben did the same, not until a few seconds later by which point they had both unloaded several bullets into the car each. She realised that couldn’t move while her head was still ringing, hearing her name being called but after that nothing as she blacked out.

Max frowned a bit as he dropped his hand and immediately picked it back up in hers "Okay, you be careful though." She murmured smiling some at him "Oh I don't want anything special, just want to spend time with you and Erik." She told him before pulling a blanket over herself.

Noah felt off the moment they were stopped. He kept his guard up and quickly went for one of the guns hidden under the seat when he saw the one that walked around draw. It was too late by that point though as he heard the shots ring out. As quickly as he could he unloaded the clip back at them only able to hit one while the other sped off. He looked back as he called Carmen's name asking if she was alright, but he only received silence. He went wide eyed when he saw the blood starting to seep into her clothes and quickly got to her side again "Carmen?! Carmen!" He yelled while trying to find his phone to call 911, not even realising that he himself had been hit too.

He nodded in agreement, pressing his cheek to the top of her head. “Mmm promise.” He murmured, “you sure? Nothing special for the big 30?” He teased her a little.

Jolly was one of the first ones there, pulling up to the the flashing lights and got out quickly, walking over to see the two bodies on the ground covered in sheets and checked each one to make sure they weren’t Noah or Carmen but felt his heart sink when he found Ben under one of them. “Shit. Officer! Where’d they take the other two?” He asked him, one of the many chiefs under ragnars payroll. “Were they okay?” He asked quickly, hearing ubbes voice coming closer

Max pouted and shook her head "Uh uh, I'm still 29 and staying that way." She said smiling a bit as she glanced up at him to see his reaction.

Ubbe came over when he heard Jolly's voice and shook his head "Both shot, Carmen was unconsious. Noah hanging on by a thread due to pure adrenaline." He explained before giving a heavy sigh as he looked down at Ben "He was a good man, they said he took the most shots. Not sure on the number that hit Carmen or Noah at the minute."

He frowned and shook his head. “We can’t both stay 29 forever.” He murmured, giving her hand a gentle squeeze, sighing as she slapped his leg. “You haven’t let me talk about it yet at all.” He pointed out as every time he mentioned the elephant in the room that he wouldn’t be around forever she would shut it down immediately.

He sighed quietly and nodded. “I’ll tell his girl… I’ve known her for a while.” He mumbled. “I’ll meet you at the hospital. But this has Frank written all over it.” He muttered.

Max frowned deeply and traced patterns on his palm "I....I don't want to think about it." She whispered but sighed heavily as he pushed it "I know you're not long for the world, I know our time is limited." She said quietly

Ubbe nodded and sighed heavily "We're already on it. We'll be checking the officer for ink here soon." He murmured before going to his car to head to the hospital.

He frowned and just kissed her head gently. “I just want you to be ready. Because I’ve already sorted it that you will have the house and you will be looked after but there are things we need to go over.” He told her quietly. “I’m not dying tomorrow but I just want you ready.” He murmured, “I need to go lay down but why don’t you bring Erik up after you pick him up?” He suggested.

He met him there after going to speak to the girlfriend, sighing a little as he found him in the waiting room. “Any updates?” He asked, taking a seat. “I’ve just spoken to Hvitserk, he’s on his way to talk to your father.

Max sighed softly and nodded "Alright, I'll do that and once he's down tonight we can talk about everything." She murmured before giving him a quick kiss and helped him up to bed.

Ubbe nodded and sighed "Carmen is still in surgery, Noah is out, bullet went in the side but missed any vitals. He'll be up in a bit." He explained giving a heavy sigh and rubbing a hand over his face

He nodded and stood. “I’ll go see him.” He told him and headed to find out what room he was in, going to take a seat and wait quietly.

He hummed quietly and smiled at her some “you know how much I love you?” He asked her, tugging on her to lean down so he could kiss her. “Go pick up the stinker and bring him home.” He smiled.

Noah was awake a few hours later groaning quietly "Car.....Carmen.." he whispered out trying to look around to find her. When he didn't see her though or understand the room he was in he quickly tried getting up to leave.

Max came home at her normal time holding hands with Erik as he told her about his day. She smiled happily as they got inside and took her shoes as well as his off "Lets go see if your father is up yeah?" She murmured

Jolly glanced over from sending messages and got up to push him back down gently, "Hey, hey careful now." He told him "Take it easy alright? Nurse said you lost a lot of blood." He told him. "You got shot Noah." He told him gently, "You were coming home from the airport." He explained.

Ivar was still in bed but awake at least, smiling when he heard the door open and saw the two of them coming in "Hey little man, how was school?" He asked him quietly, reaching for Erik to come sit next to him.

Noah frowned deeply and looked at Jolly in confusion "Carmen? Ben? Where....where are they? I don't...I don't full remember." He groaned.

Max smiled widely when Erik ran straight to climb onto the bed "Hey handsome." She murmured happily.

Erik squealed happily when he saw Ivar awake and quickly scrambled to get onto the bed "Papa!" He said happily making sure to be gentle around his legs "Look! Look! I make a picture!" He said happily before showing him the picture he had drawn.

He smiled some and looked it over, winking over at Max, "I don't have my glasses, you'll have to tell me what it is." He excused himself from not understanding the scribbly mess on the page while he held him close.

He frowned and shook his head "Ben uh.... Ben was shot clean.... Hit him right between the eyes, he wouldn't have even known it happened." He told him frowning, "Carm is.... She's out of surgery but it's not looking great... You can go see her in the morning." He told him

Erik giggled happily and pointed out what each scribble was. That they were the family and a dog that he wanted "Well maybe in the future honey, but right now dogs aren't good to be around your father." Max said softly with a smile as she moved to sit with them.

Noah frowned deeply putting a hand on his face "Fuck.....can we make sure he's given a good send off?" He asked quietly trying to get himself together while he tried to stand up "I need to see my wife, fuck this waiting until morning shit."

Jolly frowned and shook his head "Hey, no moving." He told him but sighed when he just kept trying to get up, "Ragnar is already handling Ben's stuff... I've spoken with Lilah... but Carmen won't be happy with you if she knows you're hurting yourself." He warned him, sighing a little when he was ignored and just went to go ask for a nurse to come help get him discharged, making promises that he would be brought back the moment he should signs of going downhill.

He smiled and just kissed Erik's head "Can you go play in your room for five minutes while I talk with your mother?" He asked him gently, "Why don't you pick out a book for me to read to you before I have a nap?" He suggested, smiling tiredly as he watched him hop down to rush off to his room. "There's been an incident." He told Max quietly

Noah ignored all of his protests refusing to not be by Carmen's side. He rolled his eyes when thety brought a wheelchair but agreed as long as he could go to Carmen. He took a deep breath as he held his side a moment before sitting down "Do we know who did it?"

Max frowned and raised an eyebrow "Oh? Whats happened?" She asked quietly scooting a bit closer to him and taking his hand in hers.
