Of Brick and Stone (open)

That, was unexpected. Shotgun just sat there in stunned shock as the two friends bickered. It was a lot to process. Aaly had told him that her parent's death was accidental, and that was what Shotgun believed. But now that Maurice said it, Shotgun started to think it. Shotgun was pulled from his thoughts when Maurice's attention was redirected to him.

Shotgun composed himself. "Why were they switching sides? Why were they a threat?" he pushed.

"I don't suppose you've heard about ReBirth Industries have you?" Maurice asked.

"Of course he hasn't. It had been long gone" Aaly practically snarled. She didn't like it where it all was going.

"Also known as the Aashan Empire. It was this huge company where my parents used to work at. Innovations were made for the sake of the Districts, mainly District 1. From medicine to transportation. Anyway, to be brief what they created was of benefit to the city on the sky, but those who worked there were not as corrupt as the royals. If they couldn't be bribed or blackmailed, if their moral still stopped them from doing the wrong, they were better off dead than against them" He snickered. And even if he was talking about his parents death he seemed to be in a good mood "They didn't give them the chance"

"What?" Shotgun looked to Aaly for confirmation, not trusting the source. "They got rid of a whole company, that benefited their district, and killed the workers?" Shotgun couldn't believe what he was hearing. But then again, why shouldn't he, this was District 1 they were talking about. "How can you say all this so calmly?" he asked Maurice. How are you not angry?"

"They didn't get rid of all the workers. They just had to get rid of the important ones" Aaly said blankly, her eyes locked on her hands that rested on top of her lap.

"You see. If you got the workers another job, any job, they'd just leave and take it. That's the 'benefit' of the PIC, you don't have to worry if you lose your job because the government will take care of it. ReBirth went supposedly 'bankrupt' once the ones who founded it died and the big company eventually disappeared" He explained "Hey, if they could turn against their whole system why not take care of them when they were loyal?" He stated calmly "I am a Rebel. Isn't that enough?"

Shotgun was going to answer that question but decided against it. Shotgun guessed that this guy had a short temper, and the last thing he wanted was for a fight to break out before they even touched ground. "Going bankrupted huh? I guess the public will believe anything when it comes from the mouth of their king. If they can do that to their own people just think of what they will do to outsiders."

Maurice didn't add anything to that remark, he just closed his eyes and leaned his head against the window again.

"It's just in the past now" Aaly said in a low voice. It may not be true, but that was not the place nor the time where she wanted to discuss that. Perhaps she didn't like it when her parents were said to have been killed for such a selfish motive. Her heroes . . . gotten rid of as pawns.

Shotgun leaned back in his seat. Not knowing what to say, he just stared out the window. After a whole hour of silence, Shotgun couldn't take it anymore. He cleared his throat.

"I guess we should discuss our plan for when we land. Like how we're going to get across the boarder, and how we find Halo once we do."

"Would you think the underground tunnels had been shut down?" Aaly asked. She had stiffened a bit when she heard Shotgun talking again, but relaxed at the subject he had chosen.

Maurice kept his eyes closed, even if he was awake, he'd just let them discuss their things for the time being.

"The underground tunnels?" Shotgun asked. "You mean the ones they used before the war?" That would be a good idea, no one would ever think to look for them there. "But do you think they're safe? And where do the pop up at?" Shotgun thought about the answers to those questions when one more popped into his head. "Do you know where they are?"

"Man. Have you ever been on District 5?" Maurice finally spoke as a snickering laugh escaped him "Hovercars exit those places when people enter or leave the District. The Royals suspect its existence but they'd never been able to find it. The lead to almost every place on District 5"

"Well, it's what I've been using to get into that District myself. There are other ways to get inside but we'd beed PIC for that. Unfortunately I can't use mine" Aaly added.

"As a matter of face, I haven't." Shotgun said to Maurice. "So then I guess it's a good thing you know so much about it." If there was one thing Shotgun hated, it was being laughed at. "Anyway. Now that we know how we're getting there, how do we get our target?"

"Oh, I know where he lives" Maurice commented casually as he took out his sphere and pushed its button dark blue button. It flattened as before and a map from a certain area of District 5 was projected all over the car. He pointed at something and it zoomed. "There, the boy lives there. Halo Nakamura, right? Just have to find a way to get there"

"Oh, well done" Aaly said as she tilted her head to the side "If I'm not wrong there is one house that leads us to place nearby" She stated with a smile before turning to Shotgun "How about it?"

Shotgun didn't even try to hide his surprise. Maybe this guy was useful to the cause. Shotgun nodded. "Sound's like a plan."

The hover car ride seemed to take longer then it did, and by the time it landed, Shotgun was tired. And a bit jet lagged.

"Last stop," Carla called from the driver's seat. "Everyone out."

Shotgun slid out of the car and stretched. "Man that trip took for ever," he said looking around.

"Remember guys," Carla called out. "If you three get caught, there are no promises that we'll come for you. Try to stay out of trouble, yeah?"

Shotgun grinned. "Now where's the fun in that?"

Aaly hopped off the car and glanced at Clara over her shoulder with a smile before turning her head back to the front.

"Well . . . Let's get this done" She declared as she stretched a bit.

Maurice stuffed his hands on his pockets as his eyes got locked on the scenery in front of him. This shouldn't take long.

Shotgun turned his eyes away from the hover car which was now flying through the air back to base. In front of his was the boarder that separated District 5 from District 2. To think, all of this use to be the same country. Everything looked deserted, the only sign of life being the booths about a half mile away where you needed a scan of your PIC to get through. Shotgun turned to Maurice.

"So you got a way to get us in?" he asked.

Maurice shrugged lightly as he glanced at Aaly.

"Where are they?" He asked her.

Aaly grinned and waved her hand at both of them.

"Follow me" She declared and got her legs moving. She didn't walk towards the boarder though, instead she turned on her heels and started to walk away. Maurice didn't question her action and just took a long stride towards her so that he could walk by her side.

She walked for some several minutes before stopping. With a nod, she stood in what seemed to be particularly nowhere specific. Just then, she kneeled down and brushed her fingertips against the soil, tracing what appeared to be random things here and there. A faint click sound was heard, if only because the three of them were dead silent and she stood up, taking a step back.

After a few seconds went by, she finally opened her mouth to speak ". . . After I'm gone, stand where I once stood" She told them silently and stepped forward.

A dim buzzing noise was barely audible before Aaly 'disappeared' in the blink of an eye.

Maurice raised his eyebrow and the corners of his mouth raised in a smile "Nice" He commented as he immediately did what Aaly told them.

On the spot she had been standing a split of second before, Maurice now stood. He glanced down and the ground beneath him disappeared, not even half a second later he was not only falling but something was sucking him all the way down.

Shotguns mouth almost fell right open. What the hell just happened?

"So no one's gunna explain that to me?" he said to no one, half expecting them to re-appear. Shotgun sighed and then stood where Aaly and Maurice were seconds ago. And then he fell.

"Good lord, I'm happy it seems this is still working" Aaly thought out loud.

In a matter of seconds, Maurice 'landed' beside her with a low thud, flinching a bit as he hit the cool and firm soil.

"Could've told us we would be tossed down in such a way" He complained as he scrambled to his feet. "This place stinks" He added, wrinkling his nose.

Aaly grinned at him "Normally, any of us would've been able to land neatly without falling on our backs. But hey you did it pretty well, you at least managed to land on your butt" She mocked him playfully. "And it doesn't stink, it's just the smell of humidity"

"Ha ha. Very funny. Smartass" He frowned as he looked up, already hearing the buzzing sound that meant that Shotgun was near to arrive.

Shotgun heard the voiced before he saw the people. Well at least he would land soon. And not a second after that thought did Shotgun find his feet hitting the ground. With not knowing what to expect, the young rebel stumbled backwards, catching himself just before falling.

Shotgun scoffed after finding his footing. "Gee thanks Aaly for letting me know that we might be falling to our deaths." he said jokingly. Passing Aaly, he took a quick glance around before turning back to her. "Where are we?"

(Dear lord, sorry! Things have been pretty hectic over here DX The reply is really short but I couldn't really get to type any other 'decent' one)

"Hey, and how would that be any fun?" She grinned and placed her hands on her hips as she skimmed her eyes around the dark and murky place "The underground tunnels" She declared.

Shotgun squinted, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the change in lighting. He then remembered the light in his bag and pulled it out. He switched it on and the tunnels became brighter.

"So, this is how you sneak in and out of District 5 huh?" Shotgun said impressed. "How do we get out of here?"

(Oh, I tried to make my post longer but I couldn't think of anything else to say either. :( but I promise I'll write more once I can play with another character)

"Hover cars" Aaly answered as she waved at both of the boys with her hand, gesturing them to follow her "Or well, I did so last time. Again, if they haven't been found out. If thy have . . . The same way?"

Maurice didn't say anything this time, instead he just silently followed Aaly's step, skimming his eyes around. Calculating eyes.

"So, as soon as he get to Halo's house what do you think we should say?" Aaly tilted her head back over her shoulder to glance at Shotgun.

(Nah, it's okay ^^ My posts haven't been the best lately either, kind of makes me feel bad about it >:( )

"Hmm," Shotgun thought about that. They couldn't just waltzes in there and say 'hey, we need your help so you're coming with us'. Halo wasn't Xiii's biggest fan. If Shotgun remembered correctly, they last time they met, they fought. "No sure. I'm pretty sure he's still convinced that we're the bad guys, so he's not going to jump at the chance to help us." Shotgun smirked as an idea hit him. "Maybe we should threaten him. Not give him an option to say no."

(It will be my goal to post longer povs very soon!)

"And how are you even planning to do that?" Maurice questioned before Aaly got the chance to reply.

"Threaten her friend maybe?" Aaly suggested, flicking her jet black bangs out of her face.

"Yeah, really smart. Threaten the Rennels girl while you're at District 5" Maurice snorted.

Aaly narrowed her eyes at his sarcasm, crossing her arms across her chest "Well, do you have any suggestions?" She demanded, rather annoyed.

Maurice glanced at her before shrugging "You should maybe offer him something instead of threatening him. Won't that be easier?"

"Maybe" Aaly granted "But what?"

(Lol, looking forward to it! ^^)

(OMG!! sorry it took so long to reply. I been moving into my dorm and going to orientations and had no time to get on here.)

Shotgun sighed. "I think I have an idea of what he wants. But you might not like it. What if we offered a chip? Just a suggestion," he added quickly. "Feel free to turn it down. But right now that's all I can think of."

(I know, not a long post. But It's coming!)
