Of Brick and Stone (open)

Obsidian stood before Aaly, her hair was tied up and pined out of her face. Her face was painted with makeup, and around her neck she wore sapphire and diamond. She wasn't however in her gown, she wasn't supposed to put that on until later. Obsidian tapped her bottom lip with a finger, a habit she picked up from her mother, as she took Aaly in.

"I do not think we have ever met," the princess finally said. "But I was told that you knew Jonathan? Were you at our engagement party?"

Aaly shook her head "I'm afraid I was not. I did used to know the Prince when I was little, but that was a long time ago, I have not seen him in years. Congratulations, Princess" She granted with a seemingly genuine smile. Woah that was a long time ago, but if she did remember correctly when she found out that the Prince had been arranged to another girl she had gotten extremely upset, to the point of even throwing a tantrum and crying her eyes out as if that was the end of the world, she even swore that day she would nor come to their engagement party or their wedding day. What of an stupid girl she was back then. A spark of laugh flashed on her eyes, though for others it would seem as if that was because of her warm smile she was giving right there, though actually it was just the way she mocked her own self for such and idiotic reaction back then.

Obsidian giggled. "Why thank you. But I am afraid that your congratulations is eight years late. But I do still expect a present," she said jokingly. And then an idea struck the princess. "We should go see him, Jonathan I mean! I know that you two were close in your youth, I am sure that he will be thrilled to see you." Without waiting a response, Obsidian took out her cell and sent a message to Jonathan."I told him that I am on my way. I also said that I have a present for him. He's going to be so surprised when he sees that it is you." Obsidian clapped her hands together in excitement. "He has been a bit gloomy with the ball and everything. This might just be the pick-me-up he needs. Anna!"

Obsidian's handmaiden who had been waiting in the back of the room came and stood beside Obsidian.

"Yes Your Highness?"

"We are going over to Jonathan's home for a bit. You do not have to come if you do not wish."

"And what would you have me do in your absences?" the handmaiden asked.

Obsidian thought about this. "Whatever you want. You may have this time to yourself."

Anna smiled and bowed her head. "Thank you Your Highness."

Obsidian turned back to Aaly. "Shall we get going?"

'Oh S***'

She looked at the princess with a smile before shaking her head. God no! She was not going to see that guy again. She was definitely not gonna be forced to act that way all day long. It was hard enough for her to do it at the ball, it would be just torture to do it for more time than the necessary.

"Oh, it's not necessary, Princess. I can always meet him at the ball. Besides, I guess he must be really busy with the ball I don't want to hinder him right now. I don't want to take much more of your time either, really it's just so nice of you" Aaly faked a good guilty face. As if she really didn't want to intrude nor her or the Prince.

Obsidian's face fell, she looked crushed. Like Aaly had just called her an awful person. But that was because she wasn't use to being rejected. "Nonsense. Jonathan would be pleased by a distraction. He is not really the ball type and if an old friend were to visit then his mother could not refuse him the time to reconnect. Especially if it is you."

Aaly had been taken aback by her face and then hesitated of what to do next "Princess, I insist. I bet the Prince does not even remember me anymore, it has been a really long time since we last saw each other. Being that the most likely scenario I would really be just hindering him, maybe even forcing him to stay with me because that's what education and good manners demand. Even more, I wouldn't want to trouble you by making you take me to him" She tried to look the most.. docile girl in the world also as if it really pained her to refuse her a second time.

'Please agree with me, please agree with me'

Obsidian nodded, the smile back on her face. "You are right. You can always just see him at the ball." the princess said sending another message to Jonathan. "I should not have been so pushy, it is one of my worst qualities. So then you decide, what do you want to do while you are back in your home district?"

Aaly suppressed a sigh of relief "Well I was planning to go and spend time with my godfather, Princess. I don't get to see him so much and would like to make the most of my time here with him" She gave her a smile "It was absolutely nice to meet you, Princess and I really hope to see you at the ball tonight, but, if it's okay with you, I have to go. I would be really grateful if you send my regards to the King and Queen" She glanced at Tydus and Trent who stepped forward "They will escort me to my godfather's home"

Obsidian giggled uncomfortably. First Aaliya had rejected her offer to the District 1 palace, now she looked like she couldn't get out of here faster. Obsidian covered the hurt she felt with a smile. was it her? Was that why the girl wanted to leave so quickly, because of something she had said or did? "Of course, of course. You must be tired from the trip as well. And it was lovely to meet you as well, Aaliya. Until tonight."

Aaly noticed her discomfort and tried to cover her own with the warmest smile she could possibly give to someone at the moment and bowed lightly "Until tonight, Princess" She gave her another smile before exchanging a look with both Tydus and Trent and walking away.

When she was finally out on the streets of District 1 she let out a sigh. She didn't say anything though, it was not safe yet. She then stopped, blinking "Do any of you know where.. My godfather lives?"

Tydus nodded "Of course, young mistress. He lives at the Central Lane"

Aaly couldn't help her surprised look. Central Lane? That was.. That was were she used to live as a child. However, she soon regained her composure "Of course, of course. Let's go then"

Once they were gone Obsidian turned to Anna. "Do you think she likes me?"

Anna smiled. "Who couldn't like you?"

"You are payed to tell me that."

"Not nearly enough," the handmaiden replied and both girls shared a laugh.

"Well, I guess it's back to boredom," Obsidian sighed.

"Can I take this off now?" Jonathan asked he and Lux were facing a full length mirror, their mother looking over them. "The ball is hours away."

"Sure, sure," Lucinda said. "I just wanted to make sure my two handsome boys looked perfect. Take those suits off with care. I don't want to see so much as a wrinkle." the queen called over she shoulder as she left the room.

Jonathan turned from the mirror. He had gotten a message from Obsidian saying that she had a present for him. Followed by another that told him that his present would be at the ball.

"So what are you planning on doing before the ball?" Lux asked taking off his jacket.

"I'm not really sure. Maybe see if Sid wants to hang out. Or if Sebastian is finished going over plans."

"I know how much you and your friends like to sneak off from a party and hide out in father's study. But I'd stay away from that area tonight if I were you," Lux said as simply as if he were telling the weather.

"Why?" Jonathan asked.

"Just a hunch."

And with that Lux left the room leaving Jonathan standing there alone and confused.

Aaly arrived to Thanos' home and was welcomed by a bunch of servants, who soon she realized were her fellow rebels. Surely, the ones that would be sneaking out resources, armament and supplies out of District 1 during the ball.

"Welcome back, young mistress" Mocked some whom she just glared and ignored.

Tydus and Trent went directly to see Thanos and left her alone there with her so 'loved' friends

"Do you need us to get your bath done?" One of them asked with a smirk

"Oh, we can scrub your back if you want us too. Of course, dressing you up is also a must" The one who said that had been the one she hated the most. The one that had mocked her the noght she had gone to meet with Crisis and Halo.

"Shut up, Nate" She mumbled, her teeth gritted.

"Oh, if it's an order from my dear Mistress Aaliya Blythe"

Aaly turned on her heels and landed a punch on his face, making him fall on his back

"Ah What the f****!?" He yelled as he held his bleeding nose and stood up to return the hit which Aaly dodged and used to push him back again instead. The other rebels, which sympathized much more with Nate than with her tried to corner her, at least most of them.

"Oh you won't like to ruin this face right now, right? I'm supposed to attend to a ball" She smirked at them.

They glared at her and went to aid Nate, who shook them off, angrily.

"Screw you. Wait until we are back" He left with the other rebels, leaving Aaly all alone on the hall.

She crossed her arms, satisfaction and hatred mixed together. She then left as well.

Shotgun sighed. He had been carrying fabric, dishes, tables, and more around the palace all day, and without a break either. He had made the mistake of leaning on a table after moving the chandelier only to get yelled at by the head servant. Now he was walking through the hall to deliver some food to the study. Only, he wasn't quite sure where it was. He really hoped that Aaly's day was going better then his. In front of him a door opened and out stepped the Crown Prince. Shotgun lowered his eyes, of course the prince couldn't know who he really was. But still Shotgun didn't want to take any chances.

"Down the hall and to your left," Lux said as he passed Shotgun.

"What?" Shotgun said stopping and turning around. Lux however did not turn, just kept working.

"The study."

"Right. Thank you Your Highness." Shotgun said looking after him. That was wired. Turning on his heels, Shotgun followed Lux's directions. As he got closer he could hear angry hushed voiced. Shotgun took lighter steps and slowed his pace to make out some words. All of a sudden the door to the study swung open and out stepped a woman Shotgun recognized as Isis, the Queen of District 9.

"It isn't right!" the woman hissed.

She was followed by her king, Vergil. "I understand Isis. But not tonight. We will speak more about this after tonight." The King called back into the room. The two royals of District 9 walked off in the opposite way of where Shotgun stood.

"What is going on?" Shotgun asked himself.

Moments after, the king and queen of District 5 stepped out of the room.

"This isn't going to get better," Penelope was telling Kannin. "I fear that everything is falling apart." The two passed Shotgun as if he wasn't even there, lost in deep talk. Shotgun walked closer to the study and peered in. there sat King Julian of District 1. Next to him was the king and queen of District 6, Michael and Ava.

"Eavesdropping are we?"

Shotgun spun around so fast that he almost dropped the food he was holding. Habit had taught him to grab a weapon, luckily he did not have one.

"Prince Jonathan," he said composing himself. "I was only delivering--"

"Then do it," the prince said cutting him off. "And don't let me catch you up here again. The grand hall is downstairs." the prince turned an left.

"Yes Your highness," Shotgun muttered bitterly.

Aaly stood before a huge mansion with a quite uncertain look on her face. The mansion's gates were clean and shinny as always and the beautiful white structure stood there as exquisite and marvelous as ever. She took a step forward and held out her hand to touch the metal gates, awe crossing her face. For her, it had always been one of the most wonderful and lovely places all over District 1 and that had not changed even now. It had this formal and elegant decoration that no other mansions at the District had. It was just...

"Perfect..." She muttered.

She wondered who was living there by now. Thinking of it made her kinda sad and angry. She snorted and as she lightly brushed her hand against the metal she meant to turn back and leave. However, the gates seemed to react to her touch and soon a little spheric screen appeared in front of her face and before she could turn around and leave, it scanned her eye and disappeared. Aaly would have panicked because of that but a voice stopped her from doing so, bringing back memories from the past

"Blythe" She froze at the voice "Welcome back, my dear"

The gates slowly opened, leaving her the path open to the mansion. She knew she should not be entering that place but her feet moved on its own, leading her to the automatic opened doors. When she stepped in she gasped, realizing it had not changed one bit. Her house was the same as ever, it had not changed at all in those past years. Even its mechanism had not changed, the voice of her dad could still be heard at the gate welcoming her as before when she arrived from school or from hanging out with her friends. He had designed it that way so that she, Blythe, would feel welcomed by him when he was away at work. His father was a scientist and an inventor, having designed most of the high tech that could be seen at District 1 and later at others, one of the reason why his work brought him and his family so close to the royal ones of other Districts, his father had been a genius.

The doors closed slowly behind her as her heart hammered against her chest. It was a life she had left behind... But being there, at her very own house pained her so much with happiness and sorrow. She forgot everything about her rebel years and soon she was only that little girl that used to run like crazy while the servants chased her through the halls of that house.

"It has not been yet been occupied" She mumbled. So it had been preserved. It was rare to see preserved mansions on District 1 and so she was surprised that hers had been one of those.

She smiled softly and took a few steps forward. The place suddenly transforming into her old house of her memories. She could almost see the servants and her parents, even the little her walking down the big marble stairs in front of her.

Soon, she was standing in the middle of her room. Full of stuffed animals and multiple artifacts, the ones his dad made only for her. He had never given her the ones he sold to the market, they always used to be hers and only hers. Maybe that had been one of the things that feed her pride and ego. Her king size pale blue bed was still as pretty as ever, the delicate silk of her bedspread seemed to be as new as ever. She walked directly to the big window that led to her own balcony, where at night, she could see al District 1 in all its splendor. She leaned against the balcony marble bars and looked down at her garden, as perfect as ever, as if her mother had never left. Tears streamed down her face, finally flowing, finally letting her cry.

She didn't know for how long she stayed like that, but what snapped her back to reality was the fact that the sun was already setting on the horizon and she had been hours away from Thanos' home.

"Damn" She said before wiping the still falling tears from her eyes and rushing out of her room and eventually her house.

She soon arrived to Thanos' house and though Trent had been quite angry at her for disappearing, he didn't scold her as she had to get ready quickly and it seemed she had not been discovered by anyone. Soon she was all ready and 'pretty' for the ball and was already leaving the house on Thanos' hovercar.

"Good to see you again... you look so lovely... I hope you have a pleasant time..."

"Do you think her smile could get any more fake?" Jonathan asked Sebastian stood looking over the second floor as Queen Lucinda and King Julian greeted the guest coming into their homes.

"What can I say?" Sebastian asked. "She makes a great hostess.

The two boy turned their attention to a closed door where they had been standing outside of for the past twenty minuets.

"Obsidian, lets go," Jonathan said to the door. "how long does it take you to but on a dress?"

The door opened and out stepped the princess. She was a sight to behold. Her green gown hugged her curves all the way down to her knees where it fluttered outwards gracing the floor. The beading that covered most of her dress shined in the light and her gloves were pulled over her elbows.

"So?" Obsidian asked spinning.

"Radiant," Jonathan said.

"Breath taking," said Sebastian.

Obsidian smiled and clapped her hands together. "Thank you!" she gushed.

"Well, I should go take my post before my father finds out I'm not there. See you two later." Sebastian waved by to Jonathan and kissed Obsidian on the cheek before taking his leave.

"So we're at the ball," Jonathan said, Obsidian linking her arm with is. "What is my present?"

"Umm..." Obsidian glanced over the guest that were coming in through the door. "Not yet," she said. "but soon."

The two lovers made their was to the grand hall which was already filled with royal and nobility alike. Servants moved about the floor taking request and handing out food and drinks. And a few reporters were afoot listening to everything that was being said so that they could write an amazing story.

"You mother did an amazing job with all of this," Obsidian said taking in it all.

The grand hall, which was never used if there wasn't a party, was beautiful. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling casting light down that made the whole room glow. Tables circled the huge dance floor and a live orchestra could be seen playing music.

"Just be happy that you we're not here when she was getting all of this done," Jonathan said taking two drinks from a passing servant and handing one to Obsidian.

"To our newest allies in the New Order?" Obsidian asked raising her glass.

"To getting the heck out of here when our parents aren't looking."

Obsidian laughed. "I can drink to that."

They clinked their glasses together and then shared a kiss.

When Aaly stepped out of the hovercar she stopped for a moment to look at the sky palace. She was much more pretty than before. Her hair fell delicately to her waist, curling beautifully at the end. She had got make up on her face, which was not really obvious but gave her this natural like sense of beauty. Her dress had been replaced as well to a much more formal and sober one.

(Her hair longer as described before and without the veil)

With Thanos, Tydus and Trent, she made her way to the entrance in a calm but gracious way of walking. She had her mission clear on her mind and was ready to fool anyone to accomplish it successfully. She did, however, before entering the palace glanced around to see if she could catch a glimpse of Shotgun, her friend that gave her an strange feeling of security, but when she didn't she straightened and went up the stairs, determination glimmering on both of her eyes.

"Aw Aaliya Blythe Aashan," Queen Lucinda said as Aaly entered the palace. Her smile was so cold it could kill. "Why how much you have grown. Enjoy your time here tonight. I know it's been a while since you have been here."

Aaly felt a cold shiver running down her spine but smiled just as coldly as her, though the coldness only resided on her eyes while her smile seemed to remain warm. She had always disliked the Queen of District 1, even when she was a child and now that dislike had grown to hate. She stopped and bowed to her while lifting the sides of her dress lightly before speaking "Queen Lucinda. As always it's a pleasure to see you, what a wonderful ball have you organized tonight, like always of course"

Lucinda laughed lightly. "It's nice to see that your manners haven't faded in your absents," she said. "Well, you should be on your way to the ball room. I'm sure you would like to catch up with all your old friends."

"That I would love to. It was lovely to meet you again and to be able to assist to such an exquisite event" She bowed again before giving out a polite smile and walking inside the palace. The Queen used to nag her when she was little because of her manners and so she knew by now that she had to be really careful of the way she spoke if she was around.

Obsidian gasped. She grabbed Jonathan and turned him to face her. "Your present just arrived. But first you have to guess what it is."

Jonathan sighed. He didn't want to play this game, but he decided to humor her all the same. "It could be a million things, give me a hint."

Obsidian took a moment to think. "A friend of yours."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "It's a person? Didn't we have this whole conversation on how you can't give people as gifts Sid?"

Obsidian rolled her eyes. "It is not that type of gift. here is another clue. You knew her when you were little."

"A her huh? Is she as pretty as you?"

"Hmm," Obsidian's eyes moved past Jonathan to get a better look at Aaly. "Prettier."

"Now that is impossible," Jonathan said turning to look at who Obsidian was looking at. The smile on the prince's face faded when he saw the girl who was standing with three men. She look familiar, very very familiar. But for some reason Jonathan couldn't place her. And then it hit him and Jonathan almost dropped hid drink. "Aaliya..."

"Are you surprised?" Obsidian asked cheerfully.

"Very." The last time Jonathan had seen Aaliya was when she was being relocated because none of her family was still living in District 1. In all the years that passed he hadn't gotten so much as a letter from her. He realized that she had forgotten about him, and that hurt. Then one day, he forgot her. But now there she stood, come back into her life just as quickly as she left."You know Aaliya?" Jonathan asked.

"I just met her today. Your mother asked my family to greet her when she arrived because of how busy she was."

"I'm happy to see that she didn't share this information with me," Jonathan said. In the back of his mind he couldn't help but think it was on purpose.

Aaly seemed to hesitate before taking some steps forward, going down the stairs that led to the main hall. She darted her eyes from one person to the other, hoping to see her friend. She held the sides of her black dress lightly as she walked down the stairs, careful not to trip. Seeing her like that, anyone would think she had always lived on a higher District, not even once crossing her mind she had lived the last past years on a lower District, much less the Rebel District.

When Aaly finally reached the floor she let go of her dress and rested both of her hands one on top of the other in front of her. She turned her head to the side when Trent took a step towards her.

"We separate over here, Aaliya. Our man has not yet entered the palace and so we'll have to wait. Tydus and I will do some other things which are better to remain unknown for now. Thanos and you will meet in approximately half an hour at the tables over there" Trent muttered quickly on her ear

Aaly shifted a little, though her expression didn't change at all. She didn't know about that part of the plan. How come she had to wait for so long?

"You would have known about this if you hadn't go and wander around for hours" Trent reproached her before leaving with Tydus and Thanos by his side, leaving Aaly alone and confused. She did, however, stood straight and walked to one side of the hall, she didn't wish to awake suspicion by standing still there all alone. Unaware, that she was being watched.

"What is wrong?" Obsidian asked. "I thought you would be happy."

"Yeah, no, I mean," Jonathan ran a hand through his hair. "I'm a bit confused."

"Let us go over and say hi," Obsidian said locking her fingers with his. "She looks so alone over there."

"Yeah, let's go say hi."

Jonathan and Obsidian made their way through the crowd and over to Aaliya. Obsidian reached out and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Aaliya," she said. "You look lovely."

Aaly jumped a little at the touch and turned back rather quickly reaching out for a gun that was not there to defend herself out of habit. She relaxed though when she realized it was District's 5 princess and her hand fell to the side.

"Princess, it's nice to see you again. Thank you, not as lovely as you though" She returned the compliment with a kind smile. Her eyes then fell on the guy that was by her side and she blinked, stiffening a little though not enough for anyone to notice it. It took her a few seconds though to force herself to move and smile brightly at Jonathan, as if she was delighted to see him again, of course she was not.

"Prince" She bowed to him lightly "It has been a while"

"Yes, it has." Jonathan said. He wasn't quite sure how to react to the person who he once considered his closest friend. So the was a pause where awkward silence filled the air.

Obsidian looked from Aaly to Jonathan and then cleared her throat. "Aaliya here has been living in District 9 for the past ten years, she is here visiting her godfather."

"District 9?" Jonathan asked surprised. "I wasn't aware that you had family over there."
