Finished [Odai Island-West Empire] A Monstrous Task

Connor Erland

Develius Develius

All of them explained the situation that they were in, and judging from the reactions, it seems like they are getting close now to actually moving onto the final step in solving this entire mess. Connor has to admit, all of this was starting to take its toll on him. Moving about all around the city, all the fighting, without much time at all to take any meaningful rests. He was glad that they were on the right track.

Attention moved over to Rios, and the startling fact that he himself has also become infected. With a new reason to be urgent, Malen rushed them over to what appeared to be a lab, as she worked quickly to create what might just be the cure that they were discussing. In what felt like no time at all, she finished and handed over the vial to the afflicted swordsman, who was visibly getting more affected by his infection by the minute.

“It actually works…”

Amidst all of the celebration however, was when a menacing noise rang out; a deep groan. Outside, a new monster revealed itself to everyone, emerging from a great distance away.

“Huh?”

It was all he could say, as the sheer overwhelming size of the monster left everybody else more or less speechless. With a nervous gulp, Connor turns towards Malen, urgency in his expression.

“Hey, we need to get everyone out of here… We had ships with us coming here, getting everyone to the port could be our best shot to get everyone to safety…!”

Of course, there’s still Sir Raedolf… Are there any other survivors out there…? No, the priest already hinted as much that chances of that are slim. These thoughts and more raced through Connor’s mind as he stood still, staring at the sight effectively paralyzed, as he considered how they would begin to deal with this.

Velvet

Did they... really made it? The cure? Velvet watched in confusion as the dragonborn was busy curing Rios. She's still pretty new in this world and she wasn't really sure how magic and disease interact here, but she's glad that their hard works pays off. Now that the burden of finding the cure had been lifted they can once again focus on the task they're sent here for, rescuing survivors.

There's still a lot of survivors here, maybe its time to call the captain. Velvet thought to herself as she peeked out of the room while her hand was clutching the pendant. Unfortunately, they wouldn't be able to rest yet as a massive monster rose on the horizon. Its groan shakes the city and Velvet stood in disbelief when she saw the monster.

"It's a- It's a Godzilla!!!" She said, almost screaming to herself. Of course the monster wasn't a godzilla, but as someone who spent her previous life watching movies on the hospital bed she couldn't help but compares it to the famous radioactive monster. Wait, was the blobbers actually some sort of radioactive mutant? Ah, no time for theory crafting. For now, she must save lives.

Velvet held the Pendant of Sending between her palms in a praying position as she said the captain's name. Hopefully, she did it right. This was the first time she use any kind of magic tools.

"Velvet here. Send help, lots of survivors in the hospital. Gigantic monster coming from north." Velvet said to the pendant, she wasn't really sure how many words she said so she added a bit more to emphasize the situation "Please be quick!"

"Over and out!"

Rios

Rios could feel the goop hivemind bouncing around in his brain, trying to claw its way deeper into his body. Unfortunately for the goop, Dr Malen was able to utilize the resources on hand to synthesize a cure for the swordsman's affliction. The moment he took the cure, Rios could feel the goop burn inside of him. His thoughts were temporarily clouded due to the sheer volume of its agonizing cries within his mind. Little by little, the goop's pain gave way to Rios's own feelings once more. Looking at the group of researchers who seemed absolutely delighted at the prospect of a cure. Rios wondered what it was like to feel such elation. He hadn't experienced something like that in a while. Soon the matter turned to how best to evacuate the remaining survivors off of this island, something which Rios was happy letting the others deal with. He was here as a sellsword, not exactly having the skills to provide the kind of relief the people were looking for.

The appearance of the Agregore made his body tense up for the briefest of moments. It was the massive creature he had seen within his visions provided by his goop sickness. A vanguard of the goops plan to spread its infection to the people of the world. Which he could openly speak about now that he had been cured. Whilst the rain beat down on his head and the Agregore roared as the prelude to a rampage. Rios felt his blood begin to pump, his mind begin to clear of the remaining fog. The Agregore was no doubt a serious threat to the people of Odai Island. However it was also an opponent that was no doubt strong enough to push Rios to the next level. Whether his thoughts were muddied or not, Rios was a sword demon who yearned for battle. Kicking off the ground and running towards the Agregore. Rios wanted to cut it, to slice through its huge frame.

DREAD

The crystal pendant that Velvet held began to glow faintly as the vampire desperately called out to the crew of the Fury Stripe. The white light pulsated rapidly for a few long moments before ceasing and staying lit. Static cackled from the other side, but soon Velvet would hear the familiar voice of Captain Tsubaraya resonate from the crystal. "Hang tight lass!" the captain replied urgently, "We'z be awaitin' yas down at the port to the south bay where ya landed! The weather and tar monstas are currently preventin us from moving to yer' location, but me crew will help ya with the evac when ya'll get 'ere! Make haste... and godspeed!"

After the message ended, the pendant would fade before the center crystal cracked. Velvet's disposable "Pendant of Sending" has done its purpose. The message was clear. They had to make a mad dash back to where they landed before the kaiju threat... or the globsters themselves... get to them. Alone, this was not a problem. But with their current predicament, this would be much more of a hassle than they realized.

Malen's stunned gaze towards the rising malevolence was broken as Connor asked her how to go about with the evacuation. She seemed to hesitate in the moment, still visibly in awed gob-smacked over the events transpiring before their very eyes. Her scales reflected this sheer horror - the creamy-white scales now drained of pigment to be a stark white.

"H-How exactly are going to get everyone to port?" Elliot wondered worryingly, looking back to see a good number of doctors managing the sickly patients, most of which were still on stretchers or beds. Some which stood walked relatively slowly compared to the others, "There's like 50-ish patients from what I've counted... Many don't look too hot either. I don't they they'd last long out there with that giant... THING nearby; not to mention any of the other globsters roaming about. Are there enough carriages about that we could-?"

The disabled dragonborn took a sigh before focusing on Elliot. "We only have two that are ready..." she replied lowly, "Though they won't be enough to take everyone in one go. And given what we're dealing with, we can't afford to return here with the added risk." Her gaze stoned as she glanced over at the rest of the party, "And I refuse to leave anyone here behind, not when we have the means to cure them; Not when we're THIS close!"

While all this was happening, Rios would choose to head towards the beast in the distance - dashing northwards before anyone had a chance to stop him. "H-Hey where's Rios going?!" Elliot pointed as he called him out, "Don't tell me he's going to actually fight the...!" Upon quickly thinking it over, his perplexed tone turned into one of utter bewilderment and disbelief for the swordsman. The squire gave a frustrated sight. "Tch... I swear that guy has a death wish or something..."

Just then, Malen's expression became further determined before wheeling out to the front of the Hospital. "Give me a minute." she stated, excusing herself from the conversation. Rolling up to a large pocket of vegetation and vines coiling around, the druid took a deep breath before locking her wheelchair's wheels. Her scaly hands rose in front of her, as a light green aura began emitting from them. The flora around her began to move, pulsating and jerking forth as the vines retracted from their current positions. Malen's focus was stalwart, as she manipulated the flora to her will. Everyone else stood and watched as the druid began building something from the plant material... a vehicle! The larger vines created the chassis, each connected by six individual legs, before the outer shell could be constructed in a sleek yet naturalistic style. Ferns and moss would adorn the exterior, couple with various exotic flowers and ferns.

Before long, Malen would've created what was essentially a plant-based six-legged crawler - about as big as six large carriages! The onlookers were absolutely stunned! Malen lowered her hands as she finished her build, lurching forward slightly with an exhausted sigh. Taking her breath, she turned to face the others. "Get everyone on board!" the druid ordered everyone, "It'll be a tight fit but it should be able to carry everyone at once."

Determined to face new heights in battle, Rios sprinted down the streets to meet the 50 meter tall Agrigore with a blood-lusting blade; while leaving his teammates to scramble for cover. With the beast still in the far distance, the nephilim would still have to hustle to get over to it. At his current speed, it would take about twenty-ish minutes to get to it. And that's only if he kept up the pace without stopping; even with the hazards littering the ruined town. Minor globsters stilll roamed aimlessly through the streets, squabbling amiss themselves over any last remaining morsel they could find.

Though as Rios began to get closer and closer with each passing step, he'd suddenly feel the air rapidly thinning around him... a breeze which seemed to be heading in the same direction he was heading. Then, out of the blue, the air would stop dead in its place - stale and still - before it was violently pushed back in his direction in a loud ear-shattering bellow:

A Thunderous Roar

The shockwave would be powerful enough to push back the swordsman nearly off his feet, alongside shattering windows and throwing forth minor debris pelting towards him. And through that thunderous interaction, despite being still some distance away, would he feel a familiar sensation. That feeling of apprehensive, visceral fear coursing through him. Should he still continue his approach, Rios would find it gradually difficult to keep going... feeling the intense stress and magnitude of an entity beyond anyone has ever witnessed. His body would no doubt ring his internal alarm bells, screaming at him regarding how bad of an idea this was. How it was effectively a suicide mission.

Eventually, Rios may find himself in a clearing... where buildings have been utterly flattened. In the distance, several hundred meters off, could he get a good look at the Agrigore towering over the ruins. Every stomp of its abnormal feet sent ripples through the ground, its blade-like tail swishing against the buildings below, and its bulk lurching slowly onwards like an indomitable force... eyes jolting every each way across its malformed body. The monster itself knew nothing of Rios... it didn't seem to sense him or even care about what was around him as he caused destruction and mayhem with every step.

Behind him, three globsters began to form from a patch of tar, their mangled bodies moaning and gawing for a piece of Rios' nephelic flesh. Though before they could even get a chance to get closer, they'd get impaled by a golden spear. The globster warbled in agony, before finding itself slashed in half by the wielder of said spear...

It was Sir Raedolf!

Though while he now stood on both feet, the infection had already spread to most of his body. Roughly half of its body was now covered in the ooze, dripping and mishapen... he looked miserably in pain and agony. But he still kept his knightly armor and weapons... for while his spear was primarily tar-infested, his spear would remaining surprisingly clean. He was still far from the sheer monstrocities of the globs themselves. "H... Hark!" he called out in recognition, his voice warbled but still very much consciously sentient, "I recognize... you. You are... one of my boy's friends, yes? Is Elliot... safe? D... Did you get.. the cure?"

Then, they would both catch the eye atop the piercing gargantuan blade lodged in the distant kaiju... glaring at his general direction. Its eye scanned its surroundings with casual yet purposeful intent, emitting an ominous spotlight of light upon anything under its gaze. And it would spot something... not Rios itself, but SOMETHING in that direction. The eye's pupil dilated before beginning to glow an ominous white... the air distorting in this black afterglow - as if distorting space and time around it. There was an intense droning sensation that would reverberate through Rios body... an infrasonic pulse.

He felt that primal urge to leave... he needed to leave. For there was an overwhelming sensation of something terribly and utterly wrong.

A rising screech soon permeated through the air, sounding like a crowd of terrified people screaming in fear before-

A heartbeat of silence...

Immediately followed by an intense beam of energy firing from the eye, a thin yet devastating laser cutting through miles of island land like a hot knife through butter! The direction would get uncomfortably close to them as they'd see a large laser scorch just past him! Buildings disintegrated upon impact, with a large gash scarring the earth under it. But the sheer cut was only the beginning... as moments after, both hears a cluster of delayed explosions following the path! And both are RIGHT in the incoming blast zone.

"TAKE... COVER!" Sir Raedolf belched as he beelined towards one of the nearby shops.

The beam would scorch several miles south from where Malen and the others were preparing to leave, allowing everyone to see the dreadful white beam fly past them. Nearly everyone was now onboard the vessel at this point... Awestruck, many would then brace themselves as the explosions followed - sending shockwaves rippling towards the group. Windows shattered, loose planks and debris were sent flying, and most people found themselves knocked down by the force of impact. Everyone would be shaken, but thankfully no fatalities. Though the hospital's second story was already in rough shape...

They needed to hurry.

The smell of spilled medicine, the noise of creaking beds and groaning patients as they were hastily evacuated. It was all somehow feel familiar for Velvet... Ah, yes. Last time she heard this much commotion in a hospital, a shining white truck blasted through the walls and crushed her under its weight. Regardless of how thankful she was to the truck, she's not going to let the goozilla to crush all these patients. So Velvet spent a considerable of her time to move as many patients from the hospital onto the vine-spider-carriage made by the dragonborn.

"All aboard!" Once all the patients had been loaded onto the carriage, she climbed the vine and decided to sat on the edge as to not occupy much of the room within. Though when beam stuck the hospital and exploded she was almost knocked out of the carriage.

"L-let's go!" She said with a shaky voice.

“H-hey, wait…!”

Without much warning, Rios immediately ran off, straight towards the giant monster. There wasn’t even any hesitation at all. Connor wanted to give chase, but the people in the hospital still needed help getting away from the calamity level problem they were facing right now. Clicking his tongue, he turned back.

White. For a brief moment, Connor thought that it was weird for the sun to suddenly break through the clouds given the weather, but just a quick glance upwards caused his jaw to drop. A huge beam of light shot past across the sky, causing an explosion big enough to deal considerable damage to their current location.

Following druid’s orders, Connor sprang into action, continuing to help move the patients onto the carriage that she created basically out of thin air. As soon as that would be done, he hoisted himself up onto the vines as well, intending to serve as an escort. Is Malen alright? Who’s going to get this moving? Connor raised his voice as he readied his violin and katana.

“Move as fast as we can please! Let us deal with the monsters! I do not want us to stay here for a minute longer!”

In consideration of those who might have been affected by the blast they just endured, Connor uses a [Soothing Melody], bracing himself on the carriage.

Rios
Mentions: Develius Develius

Rios was sprinting full tilt at the Aggregore with both of his swords drawn, ready to meet it in brual and vicious combat. Far more reasonable men would take one look at such a massive monster and conclude fighting it to be a fools errand. The swordsman had no such qualms. His goals hadn't changed much despite the goop being purged from his system. Risking his life in a battle with this colossal foe was simply another way for Rios to become even stronger than before. Unfortunately the beast he was attempting to reach was so big that actually getting there was taking far longer than he thought. His thought process in the moment had ended at charging forward. Yet now the reality of how long it would be before he got to its location was nagging at the back of his mind. A thunderous roar given off by the Aggregore shattered the windows and tore up the ground around Rios. He was able to keep his foot thanks to the bones tied to his back acting as a counterbalance.

The appearance of the corrupted Sir Raedolf was something Rios hadn't been expecting. He had been under the impression the man had been consumed by the goop given his whole speech to Elliot before they parted. "He's fine, alive too. The others are loading up to flee Odai. The cure just needs to get mass produced so this doesn't turn into a full-on plague. You should probably head that way too, old man" said Rios, taking a moment to weight whether or not he'd need to forcibly bring the guy with him. Although it seemed too late since half of him was gelatinous. Rios was pretty sure that he could still come out of this at least as a person shaped corpse. If Sir Raedolf refused, Rios would just have to kill him before he lost his mind and went berserk. Once the energy beam of the Aggregore almost vaporized him. The cyan haired swordsman knew he didn't have the time to simply duck out of the way. He entrusted his fate in the hands of Lady Luck and his own power. Readying his swords, Rios aimed to cut through the explosions that threatened to engulf him.

I hate god, but god if you're listening—save us, please.
  • "You wound me." Aniel murmured under his breath. He was sick of this; this island in ruins, these shoddy people and that idiot who speaks not at all and who ran off toward the almost cloud-piercing monster which had splattered itself across the horizon. It frustrated and scared him to no end, and what annoyed him most was that he felt himself too much of a coward to fly after the man and get him back over here. Well, cowardice was the natural reaction to such a creature which, from Aniel's experience; seemed only to want the utter devastation of everything.

Aniel was doing his best to follow everyone else's lead and aid with gathering the patients and alike into the crawler. If Aniel wasn't helping evacuate people to save their lives as well as his own, he would've probably taken the time to admire Malen's artisanry with evacuation vehicle—it reminded him briefly of a fairytale where when the heroine had not anything travel to a ball, her fairy godmother took a pumpkin and turned it into a golden carriage. He wondered for a moment if Malen had the power to turn plants into something other than plants... But that was a question for post-ordeal.

Once everyone was aboard, Aniel was flapping his wings to get airborne and scout a safe evacuation route but before he could fully take flight, his ears rang as a sudden brightness blasted in his ears. He's eyes didn't take in the moment, for a moment. Aniel couldn't feel his heart beating in his chest, it was working overtime and skipping all its beats. This was terrifying, he could've been vaporised. These patients could've been vaporised. They had to get out of here.

[A1] He's wings beat the air behind them; like a baby fowl attempting to fly for the first time, desperately flapping his wings to lift himself in spite of what gravity dictates. "Presto! Move it, now!" Aniel shouted as his feet left the ground, "I'll scout ahead; make the path's safe! Let us get outta 'ere merrily!" and with that, Aniel was off in the azure. He couldn't help but glance in the direction of that massive deformity and it made his heart race. He hoped the adrenaline could help them get off the island faster. He hoped that everyone would be safe. He hoped in the slimmest possibility that Rios could solo that thing somehow. He was used to believing in impossible scenarios after all.

IMPENDING DREAD

vrPeLzn.jpeg
For a moment, Sir Raedolf's agonized expression would falter into temporary relief upon hearing the good news. His eyes shimmered with a wet glaze, while a faint smile marked across his face as he buckled for a moment; ooze dripping from his contaminated portions. "A-Ah..." he sighed shakily, coupled with some relieving chuckles of joy, "That's a... relief... So long as they're... safe..." Though if that was true... why was Rios out here alone? The confused knight looked up at the swordsman with a puzzled expression. "And w-what about you, sir? You're not... going with them?"

As the knight ducked for cover once the beam narrowly missed them, Rios was left to face the oncoming explosions head on. Drawing his blades, the stoic swordsman stood his ground; as if defying the tests of fate itself! Then with a swift motion, he unleashed a powerful sweeping cut towards them with break-neck speed! For a moment it would seem like the cloud would engulf him and blast him to bits...

The slash struck a large arc-shaped cut into the approaching cloud, as it brushed over the two with a powerful gust of wind, shaking the very ground beneath them. Several long seconds of silence ticked by, as the explosions faded behind...

Yet incredibly... Rios would remain relatively unscathed. Aside from some debris hitting his attire, a few scorched marks on his clothes, and a tight ringing sensation droning in his ears, the blue-haired swordsman would remain standing on both feet. An impressive showing! Sir Raedolf would also survive, as he staggered from the building he took shelter in. Several glass shards were embedded into his skin, most sticking or even sinking into his infected form. "I... Incredible..." he breathed quietly as he wondered what he'd do next...

Until he seemed to get a sense of what EXACTLY he was thinking. And his hopeful expression turned into one of terrified dread. "W-Wait..." the knight apprehensively asked, raising an arm out in Rios' direction, "Don't tell me you're going... T-That's suicide!" He wobbled over towards him, staggering briefly for a moment, before stopping a few feet behind him. Despite his mildly-warbled and exhausted speech pattern, Rios would be able to tell his tone was honest. If there was any maliciousness brewing inside was being repressed by the chivalry of Sir Raedolf's knightly upbringing. Though one should ask for how much longer until he'd give in... How much time did he have left?

Even as roughly half of his face was jet-black, with multiple smaller eyes blinking on its form, Sir Raedolf's true eye - bloodshot yet soulful - looked at him with begging notion. "There's a difference... between bravery... and foolishness!" the knight murmured, as if he was still trying to even contemplate its very being, "I've... seen into the mind of that... THING... Merely a glimpse but... what I do know is that it's-"

MwAbP65.jpg
"-A fight you cannot win."

Appearing from further behind, a familiar voice would travel to hit both party's ears. The stark yet gleaming essence of the Priest calmly walked upon the bed of destruction; his faced grizzled yet calmly determined. Tucked underneath his collar, was also the familiar visage of the tiny black mute mouse kin; searching attentively his surroundings. Sir Raedolf seemed to jerk subtly, as if the globster within was rejecting its presence, but the knight would simply scamper back to make room. Then, with an affirming nod, the knight would race away towards the port - being able to stick to walls as he leapt from building to building... a mad dash to finish.

The blonde-haired priest would stop right next to Rios, gazing into the fire and destruction which lain before them with arms crossed behind. In the distance, faint vibrations could be heard... though it was hard to tell where exactly they were heading.

The priest turned to look at Rios, before issuing a faint smile. "I know that feeling." he stated calmly, "I can tell from your eyes... one I've seen many times before. That overwhelming drive to test yourself... pushing your skills to their absolute brink and excel further beyond your limits. You're one never back down from a fight... the very concept of defeat practically unheard of. You want to prove to the world what you can accomplish... fighting against the strongest to become the greatest warrior the world has ever seen. Strong in body, strong in mind. A radiant light that brings hope to all who believe... and strikes fear into the hearts of your enemies. And I believe you have that potential..."

The priest chuckled softly at the statement, taking a moment to look outwards again. "It's in their nature you know... for a nephilim."

Rios would be able to feel the vibrations of heavy footsteps getting progressively stronger. The ground began to shake with each thump. Thump... Thump... Thump. The priest didn't seem phased by this in the slightest, as he placed a gentle hand on Rios' shoulder. "But this isn't your fight. Not yet anyways... Fighting it now would be such a waste of that potential."

The thundering stomping of footsteps were now deceptively close, as the clear sounds of its destruction could be audibly clear and sickening.

"Rest assured. Judgement upon it is coming... and its time draws close. And when it arrives, it will not discriminate. Everyone on this island will be subject to its wrath. A slate purged clean of sin. That... is why I am here. That is why I shall remain here... to ensure the lord's work is carried out as instructed."

Now a spotlight was casted upon them... with the ground-busting footsteps ceasing as an ominous entity emerges from the depths of the inferno. Its colossal void-colored form, now true to scale, hunched over the buildings it dwarfed, with its inky limbs dripping strands and globs of cursed ichor and bone down their crumbling walls, pooling to the floor below. Then its horrible head snaked into view; as a singular massive eye, followed by a back of many tiny eyes blinking upon its body, glared ominously upon the three tiny figures below it - allowing Rios to get a real good look at the "Agrigore". The hideous horned kaiju groaned deeply as its mouth gaped open to reveal of rows upon rows of jagged teeth... contemplating its next move with malevolency.

The priest meanwhile remained stalwart, stepping slowly towards it in a slow yet cautious stride. Should Rios focus on him, he'd feel a surge of unfathomable electrifying energy coursing through his system; a blinding aura of concentrated light focused onto a single tiny point. The source of this power, though, was unclear... but the sheer magnitude possessed was unmistakable. It had been building up for some time... and it was ready to blow at any minute.

"I will buy you and the others time to evacuate." the priest called to Rios with a stern tone, "Protect them with your life... they helped bring you this far after all."

"It would be a mistake to abandon those who helped you in times of need."

"...For you are all witnesses; the chosen few who'll know of what happened here on this day... though you alone will know more than the rest. The world will cast you as mad... heretical to the gods they worship and a threat to their very perception of what they've been taught... but you won't be alone with this knowledge. Others with such information are out there... ready to be found. And when they show themselves... they'll help you unlock your true potential. So long as you know where to look..."

His head looked back at him one final time. "Do you understand, Rios?"

HOPE

"You don't have to tell me twice!"
Malen yelled as Connor urged her to move quickly, "Guide me through!". With a jolt of her arm, connected by a large vine, the druid would make the crawler move forth; its mangled tendrils and barky exterior twisting and creaking to life. With everyone now on board, it was time to hit the peddle to the met- to the bark more like it. All six legs began to move in a concentrated manner, creaking forth like a bio-organic bug, as it hauled the survivors in their mad dash through the city ruins. In the meantime, Connor would play a soothing melody to help respite the victims. While thankfully none were affected by the blast, some still contained more superficial wounds and traumas, most of which were now healing at an accelerated rate. The other party mates within would also feel refreshed and reinvigorated, with most their minor wounds having completely healed.

Leading ahead of the vessel, Aniel would flutter as fast as his tiny wings could carry him while scouting ahead for his crew. The fire and smoke was now spewing high into the air from the destruction below, blanketing vast swathes of land in murky suffocating fumes. It made locating the right path a bit difficult. Though indeed, would the flutter-by-angel look to the north, he'd witness the sheer enormity of the giant kaiju stomping in the distance; with the sword-eye's spotlight scanning the ground like a hellish lighthouse atop a moving, squirming mountain. A truly mortifying sight.

But farther to the south, if Aniel could squint at just the right angle... he'd see a ship docked in the distance. A very familiar ship; a crimson hulled galleon that's none other than the 'Fury Stripe" itself docked at the port. He might even be able to see signs of movement coming from the deck... the faint visages of the crew running about. Better yet, putting together the roads leading towards it, Aniel would realize that there was little resistance in the way of the crawler's advance. A few mere globsters roaming aimlessly through the streets wouldn't bother the vehicle no more than mere fodder. It seemed to be going well... almost too well.

As the crawler came down familiar roads - passing the burned manor and the park which they first encountered the globsters - cheers would erupt from port side as they were met by a more than ecstatic crew hollering at their return. Upon exiting the crawler - having stopped right at where the port started - they would come running towards them, as a few recognizable faces could be seen; though the most dominant would be the large green form of Captain Tsuburaya featuring the widest grin of them all. "Ahhhh me friends!" he hollered joyfully as have gave Connor, Velvet, Davito and Aniel all a big hug in his trunk-sized hairy arms, "We'z was worried sick of yas! Thank the gods ya'll made it back in one piece!"

cookie-michal-niewiadomy-orcpirateinsta1.jpg
Though as he took a moment to count everyone, his expression became mildly worried. "Oi, uh... where's the blue-haired lad with the swords?" he asked concerned, worried about his potential fate. He then glanced over at Malen and the survivors beginning to exit the crawler, "Ahhh, what do we have here? Looks like ya brought some weary passengers ready for a one way ticket outta 'ere."

"Thank you for ferrying these brave guildsmen,"
Malen thanked the captain graciously as she rolled up to them, "I don't know what we would've done without them. We've gotten the cure ready to be mass produced, as well as all the survivors we have. We're more than ready to get out of here!"

"Aye! I agree,"
the captain replied confidently, before turning over to his crew, "OI! Ya heard her scallywags! Lez' get these wayward souls aboard and set sail back to Hondoshire on the double! Hup! Hup! Lez' go!" They didn't need to be told twice, as everyone began shepherding the 50+ survivors onto the ship. It would take a bit for them to be loaded, as they were overseen by the druid herself; vowing to be the last survivor to make it aboard despite her crippling disability.

Elliot was lost amongst the crowd, but would also be welcomed with equally opened arms. While he was more than relieved to have made it back to friendly shores, he was exhausted. Even so, he kept looking back to the ruins from which they exited... worried whether or not Rios and his master would be able to make their way back in time, let alone survive long enough to get here. Somehow he believed this wasn't quite the end...

Though just as they were packing in the last of the survivors a panicked voice called out from a top the crow's nest. "Uh... guys? We've got company!" yelled the red-haired Audrey while pointing towards the city, "Lotta things actually! Like an army of em!"

Charging down the ruined streets and winding avenues, a wave of ravenous approaching globsters were quickly making their way towards the port. Their moans and sickening squelches emitted from agape maws of drooling tar, hellbent on their targets. It was as if it were a last ditch effort to stop the survivors from leaving the cursed island alive. Now everyone was on high alert. Malen immediately dismantled the plant crawler, twisting the vines and bark to form a protective barricade to separate them from the enemy. The majority of the crew would also come to prepare for battle:

Mera, the fishfolk swashbuckler, would raise her rapier as she became light as a feather. Skeen, the melanistic lizardfolk, leapt from the ship - pulling out two twin sickles as a purple-colored ghostly reptilian entity appeared behind him with a snarl. Alongside him, Yor - the albino frogfolk - would see his veins glow a crimson red as toxic blood leaked from pores behind his back, floating towards his hands. Mako, the psuedo-sharkfolk would ready his cutlass as a fierce aura surrounded him with intense bloodlust. Bailey, the Basilosaurid cleric, readied a protective shield - giving her allies a healing buff within its radius. Donovan, the hippofolk second in command, would play his accordion - creating a tune meant to hype his compatriot. And Elliot rose his sword... now more determined to keep his friends alive and by them time to take sail before they escape.

For Captain Tsuburaya, he stood over his crew and addressed his orders. "Stand yer ground lads!" he bellowed nobly with a fist in the air, "One last time! As soon everyone's onboard, we depart this cursed island immediately! And for the sake of the entire world, let none of em get through!" That raised first would begin to glow a furious bright glow of reddish-orange flame, before the captain snapped his fingers-

And a large explosion would take out a number of globsters in a single blast; starting the final battle of Odai Island.

Their last stand.

Velvet

Velvet felts a sense of relief when she saw the Fury Stripe and its crew already anchored in the dock. Though when the captain inquired about the swordsman her eyes suddenly widen as she realized that she been forgetting about Rios. She was so focused on helping the patients that she lose track of him. Hopefully he would return and join them in the ship soon.

For now though, she joined the crew and prepared herself to hold off the incoming globsters. She climbed the plant barricade and used it to see her surrounding. She especially wanted to keep a lookout for the big ones. It would be disastrous if even one of them got into the ship. She also suddenly remember about the blood that Davito gave her. She had been too focused on the rescue she forgot about her hunger. This might be a weird moment for a drink, but Velvet uncapped the blood flask and raised it above her head.

"Once we return to the mainland, let's all have a drink together."
She said to the other fighters before she gulped down the blood quickly like someone who haven't drink for days.

Action:
1) Use climbing F to climb the barricade
2) Drink Vial of Blood F

  • Aniel wanted to die again and be reborn as some nameless flower in some countryside prairie. Just gently fluttering along with the wind and then dying out as the winter begins. A meaningless and simple life like that seemed much more preferable than to whatever horror book he'd written himself into. The relief of getting to the ship safely and the respite of the captain's cheerful hug meant nought if they couldn't fend these things off until Rios got to the ship; it'd all be for nought.

In spite of that, Aniel had to hide his fear, regret and helplessness behind the mask of a hero. After all, people's lives were at stake—people who could likely live a better and more fulfilling life than him. The swainling's breaths are still unsteady from his adrenaline-pumped flight. It did not help. Seeing everyone else ready themselves was Aniel's cue and without a second thought, he used his wings to force himself into the air as he pulled his [Catalyst] out from his bag.

[A1] With a huff and puff, Aniel gritted his teeth and flew forth 23 feet toward the globster north of them. He couldn't fire a shot just yet since he doesn't have [Focus] and his abilities count as spells so he turned to the crew momentarily, "These things are major flammable, so if you can; make sure you smoke 'em!" Said Aniel, unsure whether or not the crew knew that. "So whoever's hands are free, light a dozen torches presto!" Aniel would shout, clearly out of breath as he's wings beat the air and lifted his capelet like blades of grass trembling in a harsh breeze. He firmly held onto his [Catalyst] in his trembling hand as he turned to face the creatures before them. He had a few tricks up his sleeves if things went awry—to survive adversities, one must expect and prepare for all adversities. He still has the [Divine Barrier E] if he gets too cocky.

“Guh…!”

Connor was helpless as the captain of the Fury Stripe went up to them to give a big hug. They probably don’t have time to waste on this… Captain Tsuburaya notices the missing member of their party, giving Connor a reminder that Rios was still out there.

“Right, he went off on his own and…”

As the rest of the crew started to guide the survivors onto the ship, Connor raised a hand up to his neck; towards the pendant that the Captain gave them right before they set foot in this city.

“Rios. Survivors are getting loaded onto the ship. Get to the port, there’s no more time to waste!”

Soon after he said his message, Audrey’s voice warned them of the new danger bearing down upon them. A look back at the city reveals a brand-new wave of globsters approaching. There is a huge number of them, it looks like it was much more than the encounters that they had before. Connor frowned as he steeled himself. They aren’t going to have the chance to breath until they all got out of here, huh? The sounds of orders being called was his signal to take action. Velvet was doing her own preparations, and Aniel was already flying overhead northwards. He immediately decided to move in to assist.

Moving past the vine barricade created by Malen, Connor charges straight towards a group of globsters he could see, as he readied his katana.

Actions:
  • Use Pendant of Sending [E]
  • Move as far as possible towards northern globsquad.

Rios

Rios looked on at the utter carnage before him with nary a shred of fear in his heart. His mind was calm and his blood fell silent. Swords sizzling in the downpour from their sheer heat meeting the falling raindrops; Rios took a step forward. Unfortunately he was quickly met with disapproval of Sir Raedolf who somehow expressed his emotions despite the fact he was still acting like his very being was getting eroded at its core. Rios wondered if he'd make up his mind about whether his personality was fading or not. He once again tried to step towards the devastation created by the Aggregore. The appearance of the priest from the church stopped him in his tracks. It would appear cleansing this creature was what the man had been here for the entire time. Rios wanted to claim that he knew such a thing would happen but he didn't expect the blonde man of cloth to undertake this task from the vanguard position. Naturally he protested at being denied the chance to even strike back at the beast who tried to turn him into one of its slaves. He also refused any expectations that he was some kind of potential hero. Rios was first and foremost a swordsman. All he cared about was the chance to draw blood on the battlefield.

"My very existence has been tethered to causality" was all Rios said as he sheathed his weapons. Goddess Delilah was far too Machiavellian to be addressed as a simple Lady Luck. It was far more apt to refer to her as a Goddess of Causality. One might believe she had bestowed him with luck but all it did was force him to face harder challenges the more he tried to improve himself. Confronting the colossal bear, battling the proctors in his training and now facing down the spawn of the Aggregore. Taking any chance would stack the odds against him again and again. He was nothing more than a two bit piece in a game he had no way of getting out of. Turning on his heel and refusing to look either man in the eye. Rios began walking away before breaking into a sprint.

Receiving a message from Connor. Rios understood that the evacuation of the civilians took top priority as of the current moment. Once he got nearer to the port, Rios noticed that there were glob monsters in his way. Now that he was fully healed. His ability to dispatch these foes would be up to snuff once more. Drawing his swords and dashing towards the nearest globsters. Rios lit the blades of his swords with flames whilst his very aura seemed to drink the shadows themselves. A dance of sword swipes ensued as Rios struck with the precision of a viper and the ferocity of that goddamn bear.

Davito gasped for breath after the massive Captain had released them from his bone-crushing hug. "Yes, yes. Plenty of time for that later, when we're off this hellscape of an island." As he recovered himself, he saw the crew of the Fury Stripe move to defensive positions around the group of evacuees. As the druid raised her barrier around the landing site, Davito pushed through the crowd towards the advancing Globster horde.

He saw his other companions readying themselves for the coming battle, and went where he knew best: the front lines. He drew his sword and quickly followed Connor past the barricade, making sure to be between his companions and the advancing hordes of globsters. "Stay alongside me Connor," he said to the other man. "Don't advance past the line or there's nothing I can do for you." He readies himself for the onslaught.

HOPE

Despite hearing Rios' reluctant agreement to abstain from fighting, the priest was relieved to hear his compliance. A faint smile crossed his lips; not of endearment, but of understanding... and perhaps a sense of things to come, whatever that means. Though as Rios would begin running back to his comrades, refusing to turn his back to say anything more, he'd hear the priest call out to him one last time. "The balances of power are ever shifting, Mister Rios!" he'd call out in a still yet vaguely optimistic voice, a hint of hope or inspiration coated within the words, "Your time for vengeance will come soon enough...!"

The swordsman would be long gone before he'd finish his statement, but the priest would nonetheless finish, muttering under his breath:

"And when it does... shall the fruits of your labor manifest into history."

As Connor alerted the captain on Rios' current whereabouts, he gave a rather impressed look at what Rios tried to do. "Well I'm sure the lad surely oughta know what he be doin!" he claimed with a mixture of excitement and worry, "Though he better come back quick, or we be sailin' without him!"

The explosion rattled through a globster mob with relative ease, utterly obliterating huge chunks from their congealed forms. Even so, the rest would continue their steady yet ominous advance towards the party. As they got closer, the party could see that some of the globster groups were merged into one conglomerate entity made up of three to six individuals; creating a larger and more durable entity. Most of the Fury Stripe crew were getting antsy, with some already throwing out their own ranged attacks towards them from behind the barricade, while others awaited the opportunity to get some close ranged swipes at them.

Velvet would drink the vial of blood, finding the taste to be damn near refreshing and thankfully untainted by the rot around them. Though as she continued chugging, she'd find that it was taking a bit longer to drink from it than usual. So too would the taste... tasting sweeter; akin to red wine. And to her right, a few meters away, she'd notice Yor utilizing his blood magic to refill her vial at a continuous pace. "Chuuuuuuuuug," the albino frog-folk croaked, "You need all the energy you caaaaaaaaan." Afterwards, he'd direct his crimson blood spikes to pellet at the globster horde approaching them to the east.

Aniel alerted the crew of their enemy's weakness towards fire as he flew towards the north to spot for them. The crew took note, with Mera taking out a bottle of rum she happened to have on hand; lighting it as she chucked it towards a globster horde. "Let em burn!" she cried out triumphantly, before others would chuck their own . Though as she did that, the closest globster towards Aniel would begin to wretch violently before throwing three balls of wretched black ichor and pieces of bone to try and snipe him from the sky! One of them, however, would be shot down by what appeared to be a slash projectile; cutting it perfectly into two halves.

Should Aniel look back, he'd see Mako - the very person who signed his petition letter - standing above the barricade with his blade glowing red-hot with a fiery passion. He gave him a cheeky wink. "Yer' welcome." he casually flirted, before rushed towards the closest globsters to the east in cutting range. "I'm cuttin' these fellas down!" Skeen would follow in pursuit, as his ghostly patron bit and ripped into the viscous hide of the globsters with savage fury. "HEY! DON'T FORGET ABOUT US YA DOPE!" the melanistic kobold yelled as he fought alongside the sharkfolk.

Elliot was among the most nervous, feeling himself tense up at the commotion going from outside the barricade. Davito would tell him to stick close or not to go past the barricade line for his own safety. "Yes sir." he replied, understanding his warning. He watched as Davito exited the barricade, heading north towards the globsters. Despite his initial reluctance, the squire would do his duty; running forth alongside the knight as they made their way towards the enemy.

Connor's disposable pendent of sending would crumble to dust upon its use, before he went out to fight the horde towards the north alongside Davito and Elliot. One of the combined globsters would attempt to unleash a whip-like tendril towards him, prompting quick thinking to dodge before it attempted to bite him.

Either way, their focused attacks on the single globster mass itself would eventually eradicate it... one out of many, MANY more to come.

(For the sake of time, I'll condense the fight as if they've been holding out for a bit; feel free to flavor your skills and attacks freely)

The battle would continue on for several agonizing minutes, turning more into a siege rather than an all out brawl. The horde seemed endless, as they continued waltzing down with little regard to their own vitality to ensure their hunger. Much black viscous mass and ichor were spilled already with no casualties with the party of Fury Stripe seen yet. But they were all getting exhausted... a break in the fighting was needed. "JUST A LIL BIT MORE, MATEYS!" the Captain announced to all in the vicinity as the last of the survivors were boarding and being tended, "HOLD YER POSITIONS!"

Then, coming from the north end, was the unmistakable visage of Rios charging into the fray with savage fury and grace with flame-doused blades and a shrouded aura. "He's back!" Elliot called out excitedly towards the others nearby. Though he was still mighty worried about Sir Raedolf... The nephilim would shred through many globsters on his way back, channeling his fury and denial into the foes before him. The party was reunited... and not a moment too soon.

As Malen - the last survivor - rolled onto the galleon, Captain Tsubaraya finally gave the golden order that everyone was waiting for. "ALL ABOAAAAAAARD!" he bellowed, expelling all of the air in his barrel-shaped chest for everyone to hear, "ALL SURVIVORS ACCOUNTED FOR! LETS GO HOME!"

The Fury's Stripe would begin to lift anchor as it began slowly heading out of port, forcing everyone to quickly head back and jump aboard their last ticket out of here... less they wish to be stranded on a doomed island.

Velvet

Velvet rushed towards the nearest globsters with both of her hands raised in front of her, like a boxer aiming for a knockout. Each globsters were a piece of mass that she might not been able to hit properly, but she didn't need to. She launched a focused attack towards their bony parts of the body, sending the globster away to hit another one with its body. She didn't need to kill them, she only needs to keep them at bay. She focused on the defense, pushing globsters that managed to slip past their ranged barrages and pushed them back away so they can easily get hit by the others.

"ALL ABOAAAAAAARD! ALL SURVIVORS ACCOUNTED FOR! LETS GO HOME!"

Nodding at the captain's order, Velvet retreated back onto the ship. She scanned the surrounding and thankfully everyone from their rescue team was still there, even Rios could be seen heading to the ship. Though she couldn't help but shudder at the sight of the gigantic monster in the distance.

"C-captain. This thing... it wouldn't cross the sea, right?" She asked the captain for reassurance.

Another magic infused note rang out from Connor’s violin, and another globster gets taken out of the fight. Connor did not take even a brief moment to celebrate as he directed his attention at another one, knowing that more would take the place of those they defeated. It was seemingly neverending, and he would have long been overrun had he had no other people around him to support.

A new burst of flames roared behind a group of globsters that were approaching. Upon taking a closer look…

“...There he is!”

Whether or not it was due to his message, Rios was back. Amazing timing as well, as Connor heard the captain just now announcing that they were ready to depart. Wanting nothing more but to get out of this place, he swung his katana one last time, pushing back the globsters approaching him as he rushed back towards the ship as it was just about to move.

Connor shouts as his tired legs push him up back onto the ship, overdoing it a bit as he stumbles momentarily, taking a few seconds to regain his balance as he looks back at the port as they start sailing away.

“Damn… We’re good now, right?”

NEVER. Again.
  • "Thanks..." Aniel murmured, expressing surprise with a side of blush. Was this allowed? Is your heart supposed to flutter in the midst of a terrifying battle? Aniel would not know, he never really got into fights, thus today was his first experience. Whatever the case mayhaps be, Aniel couldn't idle around—he needed to contribute as well. He had an edge over most others, as not only did Fire seem to be rather effective, but also anything imbued with [Religion] of some kind.

Aniel perked up, extending his [Catalyst] bow as he aimed for the furthest monster he could reach. Chanting the very same prayer as before, Aniel pulled the stringless bow and conjured an arrow which when he'd let go, would fly through a blossoming magical circle and fly straight toward the globster's golden eye...

A heart-pounding battle, every act Aniel made was filled with adrenaline and quick thought; his wings were fluttering at the same pace as his heartbeat. Fluttering, sweating, flight—Aniel felt as though he could faint at any moment. All would be fine as Rios suddenly came charging through like a saw blade cleaving through meat in a butcher. Well, that's Aniel saw it. A sigh of relief would've left his lips if he didn't have to rush over to the ship as the captain screamed for everyone to get aboard.

When he finally folded his wings, he'd collapse to his knees on the ship's deck by the guard rails. His wings were limp, his legs numb and his breathing was less than steady. However, a feeling of great relief washed over his entire body and it almost felt like a momentary ecstasy. If he wasn't leaning against the rails, he would've looked as though he were a dead body. Aniel raised his hand and head, "Yahooo~!" He'd exclaim, somewhat weakly with a smile that only expressed the pleasure of relief. His hand "Let's all pray that massive thing hates water." Aniel addressed Velvet, his voice expressing more cynicism than his false smile let on.

Rios
Mentions: Develius Develius Renny Renny

Rios looked on at the group of glob monsters with a look akin to a hungering predator. Scraping his heated blades against one another, sparks flew off of them. His cyan eyes had an intense glow from within his aura of swirling shadow. Taking a breath while the rain ran down his face. Rios dashed forward with both of his blades drawn. A swipe to the face of one globster, a thrust to the chest of another. The nephilim swordsman sated his hunger for violence with the eerie screeching of the oozing black masses that were attempting to fight him. Although his skill with swordsmanship could be said to be middling at best. Its overall ferocity could not be denied given how Rios seemed to throw himself into the bloodshed, seeking any advantage he could gain over the slime monsters. Whipping around and clamping the edges of his swords along the neck of a slime beast. Rios pulled back his weapons like a beast attempting to tear out chunks with its jagged teeth. The bundle of bones from the elite slime he had fought earlier acted as a counterweight to prevent him from losing his foot given how wild some of his techniques were getting as the battle dragged on. Unfortunately the captain atop the evacuation ship called out for everyone to begin boarding. Rios wanted to fight more but decided to heed the wisdom of the priest from earlier. After all he had to get back to...... someone. The person he had done that one job with.... or was it two? She had that hair....she?.

Davito Aranda

_270bd1cc-5aee-4bdc-8259-5a8556fb52e9.jpeg

Davito fought less like a madman and more in controlled, deliberate actions, sending his attacks in the areas that they would do the most damage, stabbing and slashing precisely. He worried more about keeping his opponents at bay than about destroying his enemies. Davito made sure to protect his ally's flanks, and altogether keeping himself between the globsters and the people under his protection. A large scuffle behind the globster masses alerted him to the presence of Rios, with his flaming swords and wild attacks. "God knows we could use the help."

At the Captain's call, Davito made sure to cover their retreat, only climbing aboard once everyone else had already made it to safety. He took extra care to make sure Elliot made it aboard, remembering his promise to Sir Raedolf to protect the boy. As he climbed aboard, he leaned against the railing, tiring now that his adrenaline had left him. "That... was rough. It's been a while since I've fought monsters on a scale like that. Glad it's over."

Finale

One by one, the party would make it back aboard the "Fury's Stripe", leaping onto the deck as the horde draws closer. Velvet was the first to board, as she watched over the apocalyptic hell scape before her. Indeed, she would able to see the towering kaiju looming tall in the distance; its amalgamated form in combat with an unknown foe. Or in this case, a potential savior. Though as she fearfully asked whether or not that think couldn't cross the sea, Captain Tsubaraya gave an unsure groan as he watched the battle from his telescope. "I sure hope not, lass." he replied with hesitancy in his voice, "After seein' the damage wrought upon the other island, I wouldn't be surprised if that's how the thing' got 'ere. That, or a spare chunk o' da tar got there by hitchin' on an unlucky ship. I'd prefer it be the latter case... at least it could be cleaned off. Cuz if the former be true... I'm afraid this world is gon' be in a LOT of trouble."

Connor would make it up next, though his legs made his descent a little more wobbly for comfort. Donovan, the hippofolk, would pat him down and assist in getting him back on his feet. Aniel flew down from the heavens, as she folded her wings and collapsed to her knees. Bailey, the whale-folk cleric, would ensure she was tended to accordingly. Rios would board next, delayed slightly by his willingness to fight the globsters some more. Lastly, Davito and Elliot would make their way back - with Davito managing to get on first as he pulled the exhausted squire up. Hitting the deck, Elliot collapsed onto the railing, struggling to keep himself up as he watched the chaos behind them.

It was then when the air began to shift suddenly, as the salty winds and flaming embers began whipping around them. Looking up at the dark clouds above, everyone would see them swirling in a thunderous vortex. It was slow at first, but it steadily got faster and faster with each rotation. And peering from the eye of the storm, a beam of light pierced through the clouds, getting gradually wider as it aimed right beneath the Agrigore below. No one but Rios knew exactly what this was, but there was a sense that something big was going to happen... and that time was almost up.

Thankfully, everyone was finally aboard, safe and sound.

All but one.

The globsters continued coming, relentless in their pursuit. They quickly climbed and seeped through the cracks in Malen's barricade, attempted to go as far as they could down. Then suddenly, everyone heard a raging scream echo from the horde. "RAAAAAAAAAGH!" A deformed scream that sounded like the last ditch effort of a man on his true last legs. Even through the distortion, Elliot's ears would pick up a familiar tone to it. He scrambled onto the railing as he watched intently. The globsters towards the back seemed to be distracted before a splattering of black ichor could be seen flying high into the air.

Sir Raedolf had finally arrived - deformed but still in control of his conscious for however long he had left. "M-Master?!" the squire called out, feeling intense joy yet worry over what had become of his master. Yet the knight continued forth, ripping through the horde in a wild fury of strikes and hits. He took advantage of the curse's tar to enhance his attacks, utilizing black tendrils to whip many globsters away. Sprinting down the road, it was clear what he was trying to do. And his squire understood it perfectly. "Come master!" Elliot called out, reaching out his hand as he saw him getting closer, "We can cure you!"

Bailey seemed more than disturbed at the thought as he attempted to talk him down from it, "Sir, I don't think that's a good idea!" she stated with worry. But Elliot wouldn't have it. "He can still be saved!" he cried out, grasping onto the last bits of hope left, "We have the cure, I'm sure we can-!"

"He's already on the brink of total conversion!"
Malen called out, as she rolled over towards the squire with a cure bottle in hand, "He'll turn at any moment. And we don't know if it'll work at this point! It might even kill him!"

"We need to try!"
Davito doubled down on his stance, "I'm not letting him die! Not like this!"

Sir Raedolf continue to storm down to the port, breaking through the barricade with a stumble in his step. By now the ship was already several feet away from the port's end. The farther is sailed, the less likely he'd be able to jump aboard. Though he was able to rid the platform of any other globsters who would've wanted to jump aboard, with some trying to stick themselves to him. And it was evident that he was feeling the weight of all that tar binding him down. Time was of the essence. And yet as Sir Raedolf looked as he was about to attempt to jump aboard...

He stopped.

Elliot was flabbergasted. "W-What?" he stammered, "What are you doing?! Come on master! Jump across! Please!"

Yet Raedolf didn't look as if he was burdened by the rot, or if anyone was stopping him from jumping across. He seemed to stop completely on his own accord, looking at the squire sailing away with a tired yet confident look in his eye. For several long seconds he'd say nothing but watch the ship leave; his stance beginning to buckle and weaken.

And then Raedolf smiled... one last time.

"Take... care... Elliot." he stammered slowly, his mind feeling at peace with his decision, "And... thank you."

Realizing what he was doing, the squire was utterly heartbroken at what was going on. He begged and he pleaded for his master to come, before throwing into a fit of grief and sorrow. "No! NOOOOOO!" he hollered with tears bellowing in his eyes, as he couldn't accept the scenario playing out before him.

Meanwhile, the skies above were now spinning in a torrent of clouds, as the beam of light was beginning to reach its climax. The towering Agrigore paused its rampage as its singular monocular eye glanced up at the light now blanketing its abhorrent form. It could feel itself weakening... and yet, he wouldn't seem to falter. He knew what was coming. The beast's movements began to grow erratic, coupled with the sounds of angered rage, while the sword eye atop its back began scouring its surroundings. Its pale-white light shown across the entire island like a lighthouse, on the search for something. Or someone...

And then it spotted the party.

Everyone onboard would see the white ominous eye glaring at them... as if he was directly staring into each individual's soul. Witnesses. Everyone would be bombarded with a sense of dread unlike anything they've felt before... their lives now in great danger as the entity had them in their sights. It's fate may be sealed... but it wasn't going to let them leave this place alive. The light casted upon them began to grow brighter and brighter, the eye readying to utterly obliterate them from the face of the world with one final beam. And just as it was about to fire-

The heavens would strike first; as a beam of brilliant gold would crash directly on top of it... followed by silence.

vWPWTNF.png

In a blink of an eye, a gigantic explosion would encapsulate the entire island. Like a miniature sun, it instantly turned the night sky into daytime. Everyone on deck would quickly avert their eyes from the flash, less they wanted to go blind for the rest of their lives, while an ominous mushroom shaped fireball bellowed into the dark sky. It all happened so suddenly... and silently. Then the shockwave arrived, tossing the entire ship forward alongside everyone on board. The ship lurched forward, finding itself riding a massive wave caused by the rupture and speeding away from the devastated island much faster than expected. Those still standing would feel an intense heat coursing through their skin, though would not get badly burnt from the distance they were at with those raising their hands against the bright fireball even seeing their own phalanges illuminated under their skin.

Thankfully, however, the ship would be far enough away from the blast zone by now to avoid getting completely obliterated. Though as the seas began to calm, and the light beginning to dim, all who peered at what was left of Odai Island were met with a grim sight.

A Somber Reflection

The entire island had been completely flattened. Wiped clean from the map. Nothing was left standing aside from mountains of scorched rubble and debris - alive or not. Not even a single cloud was present within the blast zone, cutting a perfect circle into the storm. Only the dark mushroom cloud in the center billowed high into the sky, as the faint rumblings of thunder reverberated in the distance. And then... it began to rain. It was raining down ash and rubble as a form of black rain. Bailey would be kind enough to enwrap the ship in a bubble of holy energy, as the black tar pattered against the forcefield.

Captain Tsubaraya remained dead silent throughout this ordeal, having taken off his hat and pressing it against its chest in a form of respect. In fact, the whole crew dared not say a word for the moment, taking the moment to look back at all which occurred with a somber attitude. Elliot meanwhile was curled in a ball in the corner, completely distraught and in shock. And as for Rios... he'd find that any trace of the infection within him has now been completely erased. No sign of any abnormalities; no strange voices in his head.

In fact, he could now tell the others of what he'd seen without being censored... though admittedly, at this stage, all he saw had essentially came into fruition.

It would be Malen who would finally break the silence, though even she seemed to strain in getting her words out. "I... It's over." Malen sighed tiredly, as she stared out towards what was once left of Odai Island. She then looked at the guild party, her eyes sunken and weathered, but grateful that they were all alive. "Members of the Adventurer's Guild." she'd state to them properly, though her voice was still lowered, "On behalf of Odai Island and its surviving populace, we... thank you for your bravery and courage in helping the surviving citizens evacuate and in helping to make a cure for the infection. You have made history today... the people of Hondoshire and the surrounding islands will always be grateful for your service. I... I suppose the... Mayor will reward you properly, I hope."

To the players who participated in the RP... thank you so much for participating in my first Isekai Hell RP! I know this has been a long one, already reaching 8 months to the day I'm writing this, but I'm glad everyone believed in me and had stuck around! I've learned quite a lot GMing this quest and will take what I've learned here into future narrating roles I come up with next. If there was anything I could've done differently, I definitely would've split this up into two or even three parts. But again, thank you so much for joining me here and for the readers, I hoped you enjoyed what I, and the players, brought to the table.

Summary of the Roleplay
Members of the Adventurers Guild - Velvet, Connor, Davito, Aniel, and Rios - would be summoned to Hondoshire Harbor by the mayor to investigate a ruined Odai Island while rescuing any survivors still on the island. The party meets up with Captain Tsubaraya of the "Fury Stripe" galleon and after getting acquainted with the crew would depart for the island. The players would depart from the Galleon and make landfall, where they would proceed to search for survivors.

Velvet and Connor would find a fallen young squire, named Elliot Lancaster, in a burning manor, while Rios, Davito, and Aniel searched outside. Soon several globsters would appear and harass them, though would be fallen quickly. During the fight, Rios ingested a piece of the globster's ooze - infecting him with an abnormal sense of dread and subjecting him to a parry of ominous visions relating to the threat inhabiting the island. The incognito hazard would also block him from relaying this information to the others for the time being. They would also discover that the globsters were weak to fire.

Afterwards, Elliot asks the party if they could search for his master - Sir William Raedolf - as they were separated during the conflict. The party would head to the church to the east, encountering the Priest who gave cryptic yet useful exposition regarding the situation. The priest would direct them to meet the dragonborn druid Malen Segusa at a hospital up north to see if they can help to direct a proper cure; as well as lend Connor, Davito, and Aniel a unique one-time use divine attack/ability in case they were in a tight spot.

As the party made their way towards the hospital, they'd finally encounter Sir Raedolf fighting against an Aggregate - a more evolved form of the globster. As they interfered, Rios would find the infection spreading further, weakening him further. Meanwhile Davito would be able to carry the fallen Sir Raedolf out of the way and into a shop, while the rest fought the Aggregate. Raedolf told Davito if he wouldn't make it through this, that he was to take care of Elliot for him, to which Davito agreed. During the fight, Rios would use up the Chalice of Calamity (Reward for March Event 2024) to regain his magical energy as Velvet, Connor, and Aniel distracted it, before they eventually "slayed" the Aggregate. Connor would also utilize his Divine Ability during the fight. Rios would collect some of the Aggregate's bones to be used for crafting.

Elliot ensures to his master that they will cure him once they get the antidote, but would leave him due to his crippled condition. Once the party reached the hospital, they'd meet Malen, who asked if they could help make the cure. With the included help of Davito using his Divine Ability, a cure was finally made and Rios was cured. Just as everyone was ready to leave the island, the Agrigore Prime kaiju would form near the center of town and begin laying waste to the remnants of the town. Sensing a way to further test his capabilities, Rios runs off to fight the giant kaiju. The others would board a "Plant Crawler" created by Malen and make their way back to the ship.

Meanwhile, as Rios was getting closer to the Agrigore Prime, he'd encounter a malformed - but still sentient - Sir Raedolf and later the Priest, who both convinced him to disengage and help his friends before the island gets destroyed. The priest hinted Rios will get his chance to fight the Agrigore one day, hinting cryptically at allies who could help push him to the next level.

As the survivors were loaded onto the Fury Stripe, a last ditch seige by a horde of globsters prompted a final battle as the party held them off before everyone could get back. The only individual not to get on was Sir Raedolf - now on the brink of transforming - sacrificing himself to ensure no other globster could hitch a ride on the galleon. Then a beam of light from the heavens above crashed onto the island and on top Agrigore Prime, before a massive explosion completely flattened Odai to rubble and dust.

The party members would be congratulated by Malen, who'd ensure they'd be rewarded properly for their efforts.

Lore to Establish:
  • Hondoshire Harbor
  • The Agrigore had been rumored to have existed for many centuries; an ancient threat said to be capable facing off against godly entities. Even when defeated, it's its high regenerative properties and durability would allow it to eventually come back stronger and more dangerous than before. While most of its history is shrouded in mystery, due to its incognito-based powers to ensure his secrecy via infection, legends of a monster similar to it have been found across the more remote sectors of the main and dark continents.

When the character mentors another character in rp meaningfully, the mentored character may gain double points in that rp during grading. Example of meaningful mentoring: one scene with 3 or more posts dedicated to it. Although unlikely, mentored characters can have their bonus points refused if they wish. (Note: Grade of skill must match grade of character that is being mentored for effect to activate. Grade of skill/stat being mentored by character must be less than Mentor skill grade).
    • [Elliot Lancaster's Bond E] - Character is connected to Elliot Lancaster, a squire previously underneath the late Sir William Raedolf.
  • Rios
    • [Mark of Dread F] - After ingesting a piece of the black tar, Rios found himself harassed by ominous spastic visions of events relating to the consumed. You feel as if something had seen you, tainting you with an essence of unknown consistency. You're unable to adequately describe what you've seen to others, only how it made you feel. No other adverse affects can be determined at this time...
      • [Mark of Dread E] - The visions began heralding the arrival of the entity seen before you. Yet even its gaze seemed capable of triggering the advance of the Mark swelling within you. Black veins become more prominent and you begin to feel getting weaker and more disturbed. Gains the following [Weakening] conditions:
      • -1 Strength Grade (B ---> C)
      • -1 Precision Grade (B ---> C)
      • -1 Lucky Grade (D ---> E)
    • [Nemesis "Agrigore"] - Character has an intense hatred of the Agrigore monster. Should it encounter it again, it will engage it in a battle to the death, as well as obtain any knowledge on its opponent before hand.

    • Item: Aggregate Bones X3 - Boney spikes and/or plates taken from the corpse of an Aggregate. Can be used to help craft weapons and/or armor. May give following perks in crafted materials:
      • Weapon Bonus: [Slashing Blight E] + [Necrotic Blight E] OR [Bleed Blight E] (Pick only one of the latter)
      • Armor Bonus: [Slashing Resistance E] + [Fire Resistance E]
  • Velvet
    • [Rescue Ranger] - Character is quick to come to the aid of any innocents, doing whatever they can to save them from potential harm or risky situations.

Assets/Titles Roleplayed For
  • Aniel
    • Ability: Divine Barrier E - [Magic E, Barrier E, Stun F, AOE F, Healing F, Religion F, Skill Loan F] - (One-Time Use) - Caster emits a repulsive barrier of light capable of pushing back and stunning corrupted entities within a 15 foot radius for one posting round. It slightly heals the caster. Spell can no longer be used once activated.
    • Justification: Having not used this ability during the events of the RP, I argue Aniel should be able keep this ability with her in any future circumstance its deemed necessary, given its solely a one time use.
  • Davito
    • [Elliot Lancaster's Bond E] - Character is connected to Elliot Lancaster, a squire previously underneath the late Sir William Raedolf.
    • Justification: In the event he wouldn't make it out alive, knight Sir William Raedolf convinced Davito to look after and train squire Elliot. His passing on Odai Island puts the promise into effect, should Davito choose to keep it.

Characters with [Wanted] or Criminal Titles
  • Davito
    • [Wanted by House Rothmar] - House Rothmar is a Noble house in the Kingdom of Rotia that is actively against Davito for reasons unknown to him. They caused his exile from Rotia.

Character Sheet Oddities
  • Davito: - [Mentor F] wouldn't currently apply to Davito due to him being an F-Grade character. [Mentor F] requires an E-Grade character. This can be remedied by upgrading his Speed stat from F ---> E grade.

Aftermath and Potential Lore Updates
  • With Odai Island completely flattened, it's become currently off-limits to the general public. Rebuilding the once bustling tourist destination is deemed too costly according to Hondoshire official. Special permits are required to access island, which include special research operations.
  • Kimori Island - the previous island the Agrigore had destroyed - would eventually be rebuilt, though it would take many years for it to finally reopen to settlers and trade. Never again would it reach the same popularity as it once had.
  • The mayor of Hondoshire had ordered a memorial to be built - commemorating the events of Odai and listing the confirmed deaths of the island - can be found in Hondoshire Harbor.
  • Hanging on within inches of its life, the mangled corpse of the once lumbering Agrigore would slip away undetected into the sea sometime after the party evacuated Odai. It won't be the last time we'll see it... at least not in its Prime.

Additional Notes
SPOILERS: This RP also acts as a major component the Agrigore's backstory as a playable character. This may be elaborated further in a Solo RP, or otherwise abbreviated in the creature's "Current Life" section of the profile.
