Uh if you're set on being a rabbit one type of yokai I found was Gyokuto (Moon Rabbit). But I don't think the zodiac would count.

The animals of the Chinese Zodiac are not yōkai either. There is a rabbit by the name of Gyokuto if you wish. I'm sorry but while I may open exceptions within reasonable arrangements, I want to keep the lore I set up here to be as consistent as it can get.

But yes, please do if you wish to keep her a rabbit-themed entity. While you are at it, please change the name to Japanese, it's bizarre to have a foreigner be something out of oriental folkore, even Chinese.

I was thinking of making my character male. Without making him too stereo-typically snake-like, my plan is for him to be the mischievous younger / middle-brother type. More details to come as I *cough* start my CS

The process of joining a shrine as a familiar is something I have yet to conduct a research upon, I apologize. For now, I'd ask to focus on how Kosai came to know your character and lead to her becoming part of the family over time before joining it "officially" as a familiar.

Since my dude is the one that has been in/associated with the shrine the longest I'm thinking that he'd be dragging away kids that seemed to be lost to the shrine for safety. Sort of like aggressive momma bear syndrome, like...

Uses spirit stuff to direct them to the shrine
