Not Everything Is Perfect...(Val & Coedy)

Sam got into his face, "No sir!" He stared into his eyes. "I'm trying to save your daughter from her monster of a father." He said loudly. He wasn't going to back down from her dad.

'Crap!' Avery thought. He shouldn't have said that. Avery could see in his eyes what he was going to do next. Just in time, Avery got between then and grabbed her father's arm. She managed to stop him from punching Sam. "No!" She had to do something. "Dad, please!"

"Avery, please." Sam mumbled and looked at her father. "What we're you going to do?" He asked, and watched Avery and her father. He wasn't scared of her father. "If you hurt me, you let your daughter do whatever she wants." He declared, sternly.

Avery shook her head a little, but he father shook her off of him. She stumbled back a few steps. "Watch what you say." He father growled. In his head, he was protecting his daughter, but she didn't see it that way. Then he punched Sam hard in the face.

"Dad!" Tears sprung to Avery's eyes. She couldn't believe this.

Sam looked at him, his nose bleeding, but he concentrated on fighting him. "Your daughter gets to do what ever she wants." He tells before he launched him in the face, wanting to let Avery have freedom.

Avery couldn't let this happen. "Sam!" She said. "Stop!" She grabbed his arm. "Please. Just stop." her father, seeing the tears in his daughter's eyes stopped in his tracks. That's when Avery took the opportunity to pull Sam outside.

Sam looked down at Avery, and was soon pulled outside. "Avery, You can't live with this man!" he told her as he reached his hand towards her face, wanting to feel her again

Avery shut the door behind them. "I-It's not always like that." She said. She knew they only had a few minutes until her dad regained his senses and followed them. So before he could touch her face, she pulled him towards the car. "Can we please just get out of here?"

Sam pulled her towards the car. He carried her in his arms, placing her in the car, and quickly sped out of the driveway. He went down to the stop sign, and waited for her to buckle up. "I'm so glad you're safe." He told her, rubbing his forehead, and looking over at her happily.

Avery looked down when he pulled away. "I'm sorry." She said. "I-I didn't think it was going to turn out like that." There were still tears in her eyes. "He's not himself, he was drinking and--" She couldn't finish. She felt awful. Sam got hurt because of her and she didn't do anything to stop it.

"Babe, please.. I'm fine, I wanted to get you out of there." Sam told her, kissing her cheek softly, and drove down the street. He looked over at her and pulled on to his street. He coughed a little and rubbed his forehead as he pulled into the garage. He stood up and walked around to her side. He opened the door with a small smile and extended a hand out for her.

Avery didn't believe him. She'd seen her father knock guys out with a punch like that. When they got to his house, she didn't take his hand. Instead, she hugged him tightly. "Please promise me that you'll never do anything like that ever again." She said quietly. She needed to hear him say it.

"Okay... I promise." Sam said as he hugged her tightly and looked at her. "I just wanted you to be safe Avery... And I couldn't stand to hear that man scream at you." He told her as he leaned against the car. He was glad they'd gotten out of there; she was safe, and that was all that mattered to him.

Avery let the tears run down her face. She couldn't lie to him about it anymore. "I was so scared." She said. "He's only been like that once before." She closed her eyes as she clung to him. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Sam leane down and wiped the tears from her face. "Hey, everything is alright.. I'm here now, ad nothing's ever doing to hurt you ever again." He whispered, and kissed the top of her head. He rubbed her back and pulled her up. He carried her inside of the house and sat her on the bed. He sat next to her and continued to hug her tightly.

Avery felt a little better, but she was still scared. She clung to him still, not too tight, but enough so she wouldn't easily let him go. When he sat next to her on the bed, she moved a little so she was in his lap. She felt safe when she was near him. "I love you." She said quietly.

"I love you too." Sam whispered as he rubbed her shoulders as kissed her cheek. He was so glad to be here with Avery. Finally e knew that his beloved was safe. Nothing was going to hurt her ever again; he she was part of him, and that meant everything to Sam.

Avery started to relax when he rubbed her shoulders. She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes. "Um, there's something I didn't mention earlier." She said after a few moments. "About me turning 18." She paused a little. "It's tomorrow."

Sam smiled at the news, picking her up bridal style, an spun her around in the room. "Oh baby!!! It's tomorrow"" he repeated as he set her down and kissed her sweetly. "I'm so happy." He said to himself as he looked into her eyes happily.

Avery smiled as he spun her around. She hugged him as they sat back down. "Tomorrow." She said with another smile. She kissed his cheek. "And I think it's going to be the best birthday ever." She added.

Sam enclosed her in a giant hug, "Everything is better with you." He told her, as he stood still on the hardwood floor, making sure that she wasn't going to leave his grasp. He couldn't believe that she was turning eight-teen tomorrow!

Avery held on to him and smiled more. "I love you." She said quietly. She never wanted to have to leave him ever again.

"I love you too." Sam whispered, as he picked her up, and smiled. "Lets go to bed." He suggested, and began to carry her into his room. He kissed her forehead and laid down with her on the bed. He was so glad that she was now living with him, he would never let her go.

Avery smiled slightly when he said it back. She found her heart skipping a beat each time he did. She blushed when he kissed her forehead. She moved closer to him, her head resting on his chest. Then she closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep. It would be easier now that she didn't have to leave him.

(Time skip)

Haley felt the sun burning a hole in her eyes, groaned, and rolled over to bury her head in the pillows beneath her. She pushed her head into Dane's side and wrapped her legs around his legs; she did not want to go to school today. That was at the bottom of her to-do list.

Sam stirred awake, still holding Avery incredibly close to his body, he kissed the top of her head, and easily let himself fall asleep. He held her close, not worrying about school, because he could easily take them both to school in ease.
