Welcome!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dean walked into the auditorium, looking at the large congregation of students. All of the different grade levels had different expressions on their faces. The Freshmen, as expected, were nervous and ultimately confused by the layout. The sophomores were more stressed than anything. The Juniors had a face of boredom, while the Seniors seemed the most excited. Well, who could blame them? They were almost about to graduate. He hummed quietly to himself before beginning his speech.

"Welcome back, everyone, to another year at Northern. Some of you might be dreading the return, while some not so much. Either way, I hope you enjoy your year here. We strive to make the time here one of the easiest for the students. Though, we do also reprimand those who break the rules so I advise you not. With that, let this year begin!"

Andrew stepped back and walked away from the podium, over to his staff. Now was the time for students new and old to interact and make friends.

Katherine/Feeling excited but also sore/Can interact with other people

Katherine looked around the auditorium, trying to see if there was someone to talk to, even if that wasn't a simple job for her. Indeed, she arrived in America two years before so her English was not perfect, but nothing could stop her from trying to make some good friends. The seniors were talking loudly like there was a competition where the winner would get something, while the freshmen, even herself, were completely lost in that new situation.
She looked to her right and said: "A little bit noisy, isn't it? I thought that maybe Seniors were more relaxed than the other ones" She laughed a little "By the way, my name is Katherine, but just call me Kat. What about you?" She said rubbing her hip for the pain since, before entering the auditorium, she hit the wall because of the huge contingency of people present there. A little accident, but at least an evidence that in that room there were so many people to be friends with and that idea had immediately put her through the pain given her being extroverted and the need to be friends to everyone.

Jess

Jess hadn't stopped talking since she'd woken up that morning.

It was her first day of high school -- a day that Jess had been dreaming of for years, and it was finally here. She had spent the whole summer preparing herself for this day by watching every stereotypical high school movie or television show that you could, the vast majority of which had mainly been musicals, and Jess was ready. High School Musical, Grease, Mean Girls, Glee, Sixteen Candles -- they had all their place over the dreary months of summer to ready her for this.

The other students pushed around her. Upperclassmen that she didn't recognize after puberty hit them, and the other freshmen -- many of which she had grown up with, but that Jess wasn't super close with. Jess was skilled at many different things, but the one thing that she had never quite gotten a grasp on was making friends.

But who needed friends when you had a brother?

A student bumped into her so Jess ended up stumbling into Jake, her twin brother although he liked to make it clear that he was older -- which was just ridiculous. Jake was only older than her by exactly four minutes and thirty seven seconds, which was hardly an accomplishment. Regardless, she was significantly more mature than her "older" brother, who was often an idiot just for the attention.

"Jake, Jake, Jake." She started poking him in the side, and then started tugging on his sleeve for attention, even though Jess had been talking his ear off since this morning. "Are you going to go talk with your friends? Do you have friends? Are you excited for high school? Do you think people break into random song?"

Watching musicals about high school had not been a good idea.

Vered Demsky

"Look at my grown-up man, skippin' the eighth grade!" Vered's mother planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek. "You're gonna be a high school freshman before everyone else! Don't you feel so proud of yourself?"

"Yeah, ma, quit it!" Vered flushed. Why'd she have to do this right outside of school?

"I'm kvelling, I'm just full of it, alright, get going, I need to take your brother to work." Vered turned to his brother, Mendel, who looked all but pleased to be watching this. Well, Vered thought, that's what you get for smoking pot at age fifteen. Finally, his mom went back into her car before poking her head out once more. "Don't forget to keep a close eye on yer lunch so it doesn't get thrown in a lake this year!"

"I know!"

"I love you! Have a nice day!" Then she finally drove away. Vered was half-certain she'd never leave. He slunk away, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, though he wasn't sure if he was doing very well at it.

Addie Prescott - anxious, nervous - open to interaction

This was the day she was dreading for a long time. The first day of high school. She heard things, a lot of things and somehow, not all of them were making her excited. Addie could use few more friends, that was a fact but how was she going to get them if she was not the one to talk first?

She was standing in front of the auditorium, leaning on the wall, her nose buried in the book as usual. She was really determined to finish the chapter before entering the auditorium. Not that she didn't know what was going to happen. The dog-eared copy of Lord of the Flies was her loyal companion wherever she went and she was currently rereading it for like sixth...or probably seventh time. Her dad had given her the book for her fourteenth birthday and mom said it was no book for a girl like her, but Addie loved it, couldn't stop reading it.

She only snapped out of her world when a movement of the student body almost knocked her down. She adjusted her glasses in her very typical way and put the bookmark on the page where she finished. Adjusting her shoulder bag and clutching the beloved book, Addie walked in the auditorium and found a seat. The dean's speech was short and brief but quite encouraging. She was looking around, seeing people already chatting to each other and her anxiety took over. Addie was actually pretty sweet and fun. But her nerdy nature and appearance usually didn't attract many people. And there were only very few who tried to see past that. But as her mom told her in the morning, 'don't worry, sweetheart, this is a new beginning.' Addie took a deep breath and looked around. She really should start talking to someone if she didn't want to be considered weirdo for next four years.

Brooklyn Chanel Cohen - Feeling excited? - Interacting with _amaranth_ _amaranth_

The first day of the rest of her life. Well, that was most likely exaggeration but.. It wasn't negative, so it didn't count, right? Brooke's morning was spent stressing over what she was going to wear, down to what she was going to eat and what she was going to say. First impressions were everything. Sure, she saw most of the freshmen in middle school, but this time it was different. She had so many ambitions for high school, and so many things she waned to do..

The drive to school was awkward, especially since Brooke and her mother, Juliet, had to get there early. Her mom was one of the English teachers, and she had to be there before everyone else for the speech. Which meant that Brooke sat on the staircase outside, until she saw people coming in. It was a bit awkward, sure, but she wasn't going to let it get her down, especially not on the first day. She took her time going to the auditorium, looking around at everybody's faces. There were a lot of new people, potential friends included.

She walked into the auditorium and looked around for an available seat, settling on one next to a brown haired girl. She listened to the very short speech, before turning her head towards the girl and smiling "Hey, my name's Brooklyn.. My friends call me Brooke. What's yours?" She said, looking at the girl. She seemed friendly, a honestly, a bit shy, so Brooklyn had taken the initiative and started the conversation

Addie Prescott - feeling anxious and a bit surprised - interacting with Delphine Delphine

To be quite frank, after the speech was over, Addie was going to leave the auditorium, find her locker, get her schedule...all those things freshmen, and basically all students do on their first day. She was kind of excited for the classes to begin, especially English and History, those were her two all-time favorites and she was really good in those. School was one thing Addie knew how to do. It was simple, you go there, sit through classes, take notes, study, pass and...that was it. Clear instructions, nothing to mess up. It was waaaay more difficult with people.

She was just about ready to stand up when she heard a voice. Someone was talking. To her. To her??? She looked to the side just to see a girl smiling at her. Addie had to admit that the girl looked nice, had very kind face. She gave her a shy smile. "Hey, umm...I'm Addison...Addie for short." she said and wasn't sure if she should offer a handshake or what. Adults did it all the time but it felt awkward, too serious. So she simply introduced herself and smiled. Brooke had no idea how much she did for that nerd when she spoke first.

"Sooo...you're a freshman too?" Addie asked, immediately scolding herself for asking such a stupid question. But there it was, she just clutched her book some more while waiting for Brooke to confirm the obvious.

Liam Johnson
Feeling: Excited
Interaction: Open

Liam was sitting in the auditorium with a large group of his friends before the Dean even began his speech. They all gathered together at the entrance of the school before coming in. Their group sat with more people that they knew and recognized from 8th grade. "Ay yooooo what up bro?" Liam said as he dapped up one of the guys that he recognized from last year.

Of course, their group was loud and lots of laughing could be heard coming from them. They made jokes, roasted each other, told stories about the summer, etc. None of them were really nervous or scared. Hell, they were pumped! At least Liam was.

A great chance to meet new people. New friends and new girls. In fact, Liam was already scouting out the place for cute girls. "Bro I'm so excited. This is finna be hella lit." He said to his friends.

That's when the Dean began his speech and some of them still talked and joked but at a significantly lower level. Liam had no problem talking to new people so after the Dean's speech, he got up and introduced himself to some guys, dapping them up in the process. "Heyyyy. My name's Liam. Nice to meet you." He couldn't help but smile.

He was excited and ready to have some fun and freedom. He had already caught the eyes of some girls look at him and his friends. Maybe it was because they were so loud, maybe it was because they were laughing and joking and seemed to be having fun when most people were hella nervous, maybe it was because they found them attractive. Well, they got plenty of time to find out. An exciting 4 years were ahead of them, and it started at that moment.

Katherine/Feeling excited/Trying to interact with _amaranth_ _amaranth_ and Delphine Delphine

After trying to make friends with a couple of those behind her, it was the turn for those at the side and in front. "Come on Kat" she said to herself "you can do it!": she was doing well in total because she had presented herself in a friendly way and had followed the speeches with interest, also trying to insert some jokes in order to make the conversation more easier to continue.
In fact, that was one of her best qualities: being able to make friends with many people regardless of both the situation and the personal interests of the other people.

Of course, there is a small problem that didn't exist in middle school and is always lurking around the corner: drama. She had already witnessed scenes where small gossip grew to become reality even though they were just hoaxes, whole reputations destroyed by simple pranks put online... Only the thought made her slightly shudder. To try to relax she tried to take a long breath and tried to look around to see what the situation was like: most people were now gathered in small groups and the people he had previously talked to had left.

She decided to stretch her neck slightly to see the faces of the people in front of her: in fact there were two girls chatting to each other and, from their nervousness, she deduced that they were not seniors and that maybe they were freshmen too. "Hey girls!" he said, leaning slightly, "Are you first-year too?" she laughed a second before sporting a big smile "Katherine Castillo, nice to meet you! But call me Kat! I'm sure we'll be good friends!"

Brooke nodded and smiled "Yeah, I'm a freshie.. And my mom's one of the English teachers so I had to be here extra early, which sucked but I mean I saw a load of people at the entrance" She was about to add more before she heard someone talking behind them. She turned her head to look at the girl who was speaking with them

She laughed slightly and nodded "Yeah, we're freshmen. Nice to meet you Kat, I'm Brooke" She was glad to have already met a few friendly faces. She wasn't nervous about making friends, if anything, it was easier making friends than anything else. She looked around the auditorium, seeing a loud group of boys a few rows back. She'd heard them talking during the speech, and now that they were free to leave the auditorium, they got even louder

"Do you guys wanna go get our schedules and our lockers right now? I feel like there's a lot of people in the auditorium, and the faster we get our things, the better" Plus she wanted to use that opportunity to learn more about them.

"Nice to meet you then, Brooke." Addie said and her voice became a bit more sure. That was all she needed, someone to talk first. After that, she was fine and open for conversation. And if this girl actually turned out to be as nice as she looked, things couldn't be better. Making friends has always been difficult for her but so far, high school was good. At least, no one stole her glasses or threw her bag into the dumpster. Some would think it was because it was just the first day. Well, back at middle school, it didn't matter which day it was. So if Addie was safe and sound, she considered herself lucky.

She turned her head curiously after the voice and saw another girl talking to them and smiled at her as well. "I'm Addie, hi." she said to her and adjusted her glasses, all overjoyed that she actually managed to get in some group right away. But Brooke was right, they should go and since Addie was the closest to the exit, she moved towards it. She was wondering how it would feel if her mom was her teacher. But being how Addie was, it would probably cause her even more trouble.

"You guys are taking any extracurriculars?" she asked as she herself was considering several options, being most interested in school newspapers and possibly a glee club. But the latter would require a lot....like a lot of courage on her side.

"Yes, we'd better hurry before we'll be chained in the locker next to the principal's office!" Katherine said to Brooke with a smile as she stood up and stretched, "Let's say finding it every day is not the wish of any student of any year!"
What can be said, despite knowing these girls for a very short time she felt something, like a sense of full trusting that newly discovered duo and, who knows, maybe this little group could become a trio!

"Mh... Difficult question... Definitely a glee club! My biggest dream, in fact, is to become a successful singer and thus fulfil my greatest wish!" She said to Addie raising her fist like a cartoon heroine and then bursting out laughing and putting her hand on her chest to try to calm down "Okay, maybe it didn't come out as well as I thought but you got the idea, right?" She tried to say with laughter as a slight blush appeared on her face; what a fail!

She got up after Addie and nodded, following after her "Yeah, I've been thinking about what I wanted to join all summer. I'm aiming for the volleyball team, and then maybe the Student Council. I know it's rare for freshmen to join though so I'm not exactly getting my hopes up. What about you?"

She looked at Kat and smiled, laughing softly "Well I hope you manage to get in. God knows I would love to have a great singing voice" She said, sighing lightly "Well, I'll stick to politics and languages, that's my forte" Brooke was aimlessly following Addie "So uhm, any idea where we go? Because I might've seen a lot of movies about high school, but I'm as clueless as everybody here" She said, laughing nervously

High school was definitely something else, from the vast amount of people down to the various styles of clothing. Brooke definitely chose to dress comfortably and casually, sporting light blue skinny jeans and a white off the shoulder top, but seeing the seniors dressing in sweatpants and more comfortable items was definitely not like in the movies.

KATHERINE CASTILLO / FEELING CURIOUS BUT A LITTLE SCARED/ INTERACTING WITH _amaranth_ _amaranth_ AND Delphine Delphine

"Mh... I don't really know... I think we should go to the secretary in order to have any kind of information... Because, and I'm sorry if I say it so rudely, but I personally don't think that high school is like movies say" She said laughing a little nervously and getting a little closer to Brooke "Jeez, there are a lot, and I mean A LOT of people here! I know that this is kinda a big school but I've never expected to have such an enormous crowd of people!"

In fact the crowd was so vast that she even didn't saw even the end of the main corridor; even putting herself on tiptoes wasn't enough in order to see it. Thankfully wearing a pair of comfy shoes like Converse made the operation less painful for her feet. "Hold on, I can see something" she noticed; a very large group of people was walking towards a room that had some sign on the side of the door. She leaned a second on Brooke's arm in order to regain some balance "Se...ar... Yeah, that's the secretary over there!"

Hearing that Kat wanted to join the glee club, Addie smiled. She had her own ambitions and dreams but who knew if they would really come true? "I'm thinking school newspaper, maybe yearbook team. I love taking pictures actually and I think I could do really well with it." she said and looked at her companions. "And maybe...juuuust maybe...I could try out for glee. But I don't think I'll make it." she added quickly and shrugged.

The crowd was almost carrying them forward, corridors were full of people rushing everywhere. Older students have already known where to go and they were trying to get there before a wave of freshmen would overcrowd the secretary office. Addie knew where to go but she didn't say anything at first. It would probably make her look too nerdy...because yes, there was something as too big of a nerd. She has found out everything in advance so she was ready. There was a mental map of school already drawn in her head and no one actually knew how relieved she was when Kat pointed out the secretary office first.

Three girls approached it and stopped at the end of the line. It was long already and it seemed that they would spend a nice long time waiting. She tucked her book back to her bag and turned to face her newly obtained friends. "I actually think it's great to start in the Student Council so early. I'm terrified of the crowd and speaking in front of people so you really have my admiration for wanting to join, Brooke." Addie said softly and blinked several times as something got caught in her eye.

Jake

1583447066507.png
Like most freshmen, Jake was kind of excited about his first day of high school. Of course, he didn't know exactly what to expect, but knowing that it cannot be that different from middle school, Jake wasn't at all worried. He had dreamt frequently of the first day of school and how it would go, but he never thought it would be this, uh... what's the word... annoying.

His annoying twin sister who he had been forced to love had always been so excited about everything, almost like she had ADHD or something, but nope, she was just that extra.

Jake didn't understand how a person could be so hyperactive and peppy about anything, and this was school they were talking about, it wasn't something students actually got excited about, well there were always exceptions like her.

Jake could swear his sister asked 10 questions in one breath, and that must have been a record or something. He, of course, didn't catch any of the questions but tried to piece them together.

"No, I don't think people break out into random song, what the hell?" He asked, obviously annoyed. She had been watching too many movies.

Brooke laughed awkwardly "I know, I know... But it's the only warning we could have of high school. Ignore the fact that my mom is a teacher and could tell me what high school really is" She said, sighing a bit afterwards. It always felt weird that her own mother was a teacher here. She knew there'd be a small prejudice against her in English class, mostly because people would think her mom would favourise her.

She was glad Kat had found the secretary's office. Brooke was supposed to learn more about her school during the summer, but she got distracted by other things. She was a bit embarrassed about being clueless. She was glad she was with people who seemed super nice, since she felt they wouldn't exactly judge her.

She was a bit disappointed to see that the line was long, but it would give her more time to find out about her new friends. When Addie started speaking, she looked at her and smiled "Thanks, I wanted to try something new, and because I really like bettering the community around me, I figured I would give it a shot.. Though getting in right now would be significantly harder than in a few years" She wasn't going to let that thought drag her down too much. She was going to try her hardest, and if she didn't get in, she'd go home knowing she did her absolute best.

"Don't. Even. Say. It. Everyone has some kind of potential for everything!" She said putting her hands on his hips "Think about riding a bike, for example! Everyone doesn't know how to do it at first, but just try a little bit and you can! If you even keep training, who knows, maybe you could join a professional team! But coming back to us," she said, moving her hands to draw two semi-circles in the air, "I think you'd not only be comfortable in the group, but you'd also be a great singer, you just have to believe it!" She finished the speech with a confident smile on his face.

She looked out trying to see how long the line was; wish she never did: there was such a big line that the last time he saw a lot of people was at the 5sos concert in Sydney.

"Girls," She said "Since we're going to be in this line until the end of the semester, if not until the end of the year, what do you think about playing a game in order to know each other better? For example..." She put a hand on her chin raising the lower lip on the upper one until she snapped her fingers "I have an idea! Do you know how to play <<Two Truths and a lie?>>"
