I'll give you a cake if you swallow your gun.
Bitch, I've got MacGyver as my character- You have a rusty old Turian, that I can turn into a car or a spaceship with nothing but duct tape and a pocket knife.

Jack: "My cake-sense is tingling! Something's going on around here..."

And this is how Jack reacts when he finally gets his cake;

Damn right I have a video in store for every occasion! (That's what you get for being completely insane.. and aware of it)

*as jack reaches under the APV to get the cake Coryn flicks the switch to the thrusters*. Setting off a cataclysmic chain of events, resulting in a failed heat shield, thruster jets igniting a fuel line, and the entire APV exploding in a rain of fiery little bits... Alpha team is wiped out... mission is a critical failure... the unknown enemies eventually destroy the entire alliance, and dominate the galaxy.

...all because of your cake. xD

Gentlemen, contain yourselves. I thought everyone knew in the first place that the cake was a lie.

On a side note, Petal will be gone for the weekend so I will slow down the rate things are going at until she returns. I will use this gained momentum and turn in into extra effort to finalize Amaranth, of which the subforums should be up as soon as possible.

Thank you for your goodwill and patience. Wolf out.

I have received word from Petal that she will be returning home tomorrow evening, which is 20 hours from now on. As soon as she posts, the game will proceed at its usual pace. Thanks.

Well gosh darn it, you're welcome!

"Alright ladies and gents please ensure you are securely strapped in, in the event of an emergency please feel free to stick your head between your legs, and kiss your ass goodbye, thank you for choosing Frozen Rock transports."
"For today's meal we'll be serving icicles covered in this black fluid leaking all over me from Karnsk, which I pray and assume to be- Oil. God, the Goddes, Captain Kangaroo and any other cosmic beings you worship, help us all."

Jack O'Neill is ready for everything!

I'll get a post done in Chapter 3 tomorrow, I'm way too tired to get a decent post out of me right now.

I'll post in the main thread tomorrow, leaving some space for others to react to this, should they desire to do so.

Between mapping Amaranth and posting in Nivirres, I've managed to put together a makeshift sketch of the upcoming area. Not that it's really complex enough to require a map, but I like maps so here goes anyway:

shitmap.jpg

I know, my mapping techniques continue to amaze, in their continual style like all the previous ones. I may be doing this intentionally you know, making shitty sketches so that I can really drop the bomb when I reveal the Amaranth world map. However badly done, it will look extraordinary compared to whatever the hell the above is.

MAP LEGEND

Black lines - mountains (doh)

Purple stuff - forest area

Blue square - Alpha's base camp

Blue circle with arrow (NOT the male sex sign) - APV's current position and heading

Red cross - main objective

Red question marks - radar anomalies

Gold cross - Karnsk's crash site

For scale, remember that the distance between Alpha's camp and the main objective is approximately 50 kilometers.

I would like to make an appeal to some players, namely Petal and Contrition, to stop abusing the quoting procedure. While a powerful tool for emphasizing and conversational reference, you're taking it too far. Nearly every one of your posts starts by quoting something, and what's most hilarious here is that you're quoting something that's been said in the very previous post. There is absolutely no need to quote something that I've just said.

Examples, because you two deserve them. Taking a situation where the wind is picking up and your commander suggests finding a shelter, I will demonstrate the proper and improper usage of quoting.

Example #1 - IMPROPER USAGE

There is no need to quote, as it is clear beyond the shadow of a doubt what Nessad is referring to when replying.

Wolf

The wind was picking up.

"The wind is picking up! We need to find a shelter soon."

said Tyder, reflecting a heroic figure standing against the vicious blizzard. If only there was a worthy painter or sculptor to capture his unique posture.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contrition

"The wind is picking up! We need to find a shelter soon."

"Aye, sir. We won't last long like this."

Nessad couldn't help but admire his commander's presence.

Example #2 - PROPER USAGE

Without quoting, it is still perfectly clear what Nessad is agreeing with.

Wolf

The wind was picking up.

"The wind is picking up! We need to find a shelter soon."

said Tyder, reflecting a heroic figure standing against the vicious blizzard. If only there was a worthy painter or sculptor to capture his unique posture.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contrition

"Aye, sir. We won't last long like this."

Nessad couldn't help but admire his commander's presence.

Example #3 - PROPER USAGE

Petal is trying to refer to what Tyder said, but Lareo and Xenthriss posted meanwhile. There is a number of things she can do. Note that is is impossible for anyone, even someone not playing the RP at all, to mistakenly believe that Petal is actually talking to Lareo and Xenthriss.

Wolf

The wind was picking up.

"The wind is picking up! We need to find a shelter soon."

said Tyder, reflecting a heroic figure standing against the vicious blizzard. If only there was a worthy painter or sculptor to capture his unique posture.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lareo

"So I was ransacking the rations compartment the other day,"

O'Neill was telling to Karnsk,

"And guess what. No cake. None. Worst. Mission. Ever."

He spelled out the last three words slowly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xenthriss

"Well it's not like I sneaked in there three days ago, ate all the cake, and now I'm pretending I didn't."

replied the turian in the most convincing, not suspicious at all manner.

SUB-EXAMPLE

A

In which Petal uses natural surroundings to link her post to Wolf's earlier one she is actually replying to.

Petal

Saday felt the wind intensify, the blizzard becoming more of a threat with each passing moment.

"Yes. It would be unwise and dangerous to remain outside."

On the other hand, watching commander Tyder standing like that in the open, in the bitter cold and snow, was sexually appealing.

SUB-EXAMPLE

B

In which Petal explicitly says that her character is replying to Tyder's observation earlier.

Petal

"Yes. It would be unwise and dangerous to remain outside."

Aril replied to Tyder's remark. On the other hand, watching commander Tyder standing like that in the open, in the bitter cold and snow, was sexually appealing.

SUB-EXAMPLE

C

In which Petal implicitly refers to Tyder's earlier observation.

Petal

The commander's words regarding the blizzard rang true.

"Yes. It would be unwise and dangerous to remain outside."

On the other hand, watching commander Tyder standing like that in the open, in the bitter cold and snow, was sexually appealing.

I should think that I've made my case. Thank you for watching "Roleplaying Like a Wolf", and I'll see you next week.

p.s. Note to self: Start recording these as videos for upload on YouTube.
