Futuristic new earth

"I expect you too." He said finishing his meal but not leaving the table. "I need something to do before we land anyway. Also i dont think i have yet so i will now, i apologize for being so rough in that sparing match."

"Don't. You fought at your level. You were better, that's all there is to it." she glared at him, daring him to argue with her about it. She'd admitted she had to learn from him, didn't that make it ok for him to have roughed her up a bit? He hadn't killed her, and even if he had, she was a former assassin, and he'd have taken her place as Security Chief. Plus there would be one-less human in the universe, which was always a good thing. Except they were fixing the whole humanity-as-a-mistake thing, and if she kept thinking about it her brain would overload, so she just stopped.

"Well i guess thats true, really i should apologize more for what im gonna do now." He says with a evil smirk as he sipped his drink.

"What you're going to do now?" She asked, looking at him curiously. Please tell me he's not planning on singing to me. Once was enough to know I never want that to happen again. AND HE WAS THE TARGET. She hadn't ever lived that one down.

Suddenly like a bullet his hand shot to you and back to him, but when it came back it was holding something. Saphires scarf. "Im gonna keep this for awhile, see it as extra motivation." He said holding it.

Saphire, for her part, widened her eyes. Suddenly they narrowed, and she jumped at him, completely forgetting her bruised rib, trying to get it back. "GIMME IT!" She needed that scarf, thank-you-very-much! IT WAS IMPORTANT! "Now, give it back!"

When she jumped at him he casually leaned back doing what possibly only he could get away with a held it out of her reach. "We both know you cant hurt me so you got no chance at getting this back, hit me and ill consider it."

"GIVE IT BACK!" She shouted, once more jumping up towards it, not even thinking about what he had said. She needed that scarf! "MY DAD GAVE ME THAT!" Oh dear, here came the tears. Furiously she pushed them to the side, she needed that scarf. She nearly kicked him, but that was when her legs gave in from pain, and she fell back into her chair, hands wrapped around her stomach. Her glare was accusing, but ruined by the tears now falling down her face.

For a moment he visibly faltered in his resolve. While he made it seem small this was no idol prank, he had seen what it had meant the her the second she put it down. However his master had not been kind and that what made him strong, he'd not back down, not yet. "Your in no condition to chase me down now, when you agreed to be trained this is already decided and i wont let you back down now." Then the scarf was gone hidden somewhere on his person. "Ill keep it on me so the second you hit me ill give it back to you but until then it is no longer yours. As i said sorry about this but im simply following my master's foot steps, i dont think it will take you a year as it did for me."

She audibly sobbed, looking up at him like something in her had been broken. My dad gave me that. My DAD gave me that. It was the last thing he had given her. Right before she had killed him he'd given it to her. And she was about to lose it... possibly forever. She was about to... "No." A soft whisper, barely a movement of air. I will not lose it. I just... just... Her bangs had fallen over her eyes as she continued to sob. But now, knowing that there was no other way to get it back... no other possibility. Calm, sobbing but utter calm, "You'll regret saying that." Just one eye, filled with tears but covered in resolve, plans and possibilities now filtering in from deep within, was able to be seen as she looked up. "No one touches the scarf."

What had been a friendly challenge was now a mission. A mission to return to being a whole sword. One she would rather die than fail. No, one she'd rather have taken her Mother's place than fail.

When he saw her face he decided he had done the right thing, that determination would carry her threw against him at some point. "Those are good eyes, you'll at least hit me soon enough like that." He said with a calculating look on his face that broke out in a small smile. "Try and catch up to me quickly, this is a bit painful for me too... Its strange seeing you like that." he said with just the twinge of regret.

Her scowl worsened before she snapped "I'll not rush." That's what had gotten her into this situation in the first place. No, she'd never rush again. I'll make you rue the day you took my scarf. If only because I'm so annoying and persistent that you find it a meaningless fight. Slowly, ignoring the pain in her torso, she stood to her full height, somehow still showing only the one. "I'd not let my guard down... the moment you do will be my victory."

"Heh i look forward to it, though i feel like we wont be able to have a rational conversation for weeks without you trying to hit me." He said with a small grin. "Ah well." He went over and got some coffee and sat back down showing seemingly no care at all about her threat. "Also when you manage to hit me i may tell you something else important."

She had completely ignored what he was saying, instead keeping an eye out for him and sitting down. Yep, there was the pain she'd shoved aside in her icy anger. And yes, she still didn't much care that they had had this entire scene in front of Nichole. Now to watch and wait.

Threw out the rest of the time he was there he showed complete unconcern for her actions, he didnt even really seem to be watching her. He calmly finished his coffee and walked away, bringing the scarf out of arms reach.

Saphire watched him with nearly frozen eyes, noticing where he was going and how he was moving. It would take her a while, but she would figure him out. Everyone had a weakness, she just had to learn it and figure out what to do with that knowledge. It didn't even occur to her she was ignoring the woman she had been talking to.

Nichole was lost deep in thought. In fact she was thinking over how she should start training. She only came out of her thoughts when Saphire and Marcus started a playful and seemingly friendly argument. But then Marcus took her scarf. She could feel the anger coming off of Saphire. Saphire then started crying. But she soon went back to her hardened shell. Nichole finally chimes in. "Does it count if I hit you too?" Feeling a need to help her new trainer, not feeling it right to call her her friend yet.

"Hmm sure why not, i wasent originally planning to add you into this but if you want to help saphire i wont stop you. Just be warned... I have a semi hard time holding back so you may get a bit rough handled, especially if you attack me in my sleep." He said looking at her a bit surprised by her proclamation. "Feel free to work as a team if you want and both come at once. Well i think ill go read." He left the room and headed to the library.

Nichole ponders her desicion after Marcus gave her an answer. She really should have checked with Saphire first, but the words just seemed to float out of her mouth. She hoped Saphire wouldn't object too badly. Nichole might not be much help but atleast she was alittle. That was better than nothing. Or so Nichole thought.

Saphire looked at Nichole, a suprised look on her face. She'd offered to help? But... why? "You... don't have to help." The bluenett wanted the help, yes... but not if it would hurt her. She was one of few genuinely good humans, a rare breed at the best of times. "But if you are we're going to need a plan."

"Well obviously he's planning on us attacking both at the same time. Or else he wouldn't have mentioned it. And he says to be careful while he's sleeping. That could either be a bluff or a genuine warning. I suspect the best time to get him is defiantly not while he's on duty, he'll be on high alert. But also not while he seems to be in his weakest points, he'll be expecting it. So I'd say maybe somewhere in between. Maybe for a day or two we could act like we completely forgot about the challenge. We start a friendly conversation yadda yadda we smack him and bang we have the scarf. And if we don't succeed in hitting him. We could just take the scarf while he's sleeping." Nichole says.

Saphire nodded, that seemed like an okay plan. "I'll keep an eye out for potential chances." She wasn't going to mention that, now she looked back, he had been utterly surprised by her crying about it. Worst comes to worst she would act like she had completely given up, crying and being generally listless... which eventually she was sure she would really do, and strike him when he came to check on her. It would be her final card, because.... well, she wasn't that good of an actor. For it to truly work she'd need to be at her rope's end.

"Okay. Now do you need help getting somewhere? I think I'm gunna go work on Justin's sphere, deliver it and then start on my yoga or strength training."

"No, go ahead. I'll just be thinking here." It was better for her to find Marcus on her own, only this time she wouldn't interact.... only watch. Observation was half the battle, after all. She'd find his weakness... even if it did mean she hurt herself worse.

"Okay. If your sure." Nichole says before getting up and going to her room. She worked on Justin's sphere for him until it opened and closed perfectly. Not wanting to run around the whole ship, Nichole just calls him on her watch.
