Bellavista Housing Complex is a great place to live. It's located in a safe neighborhood, the rent is never too high, the apartments are clean and furnished, and the people there are generally pleasant. There are 12 units, each containing at least one long-time tenant. Everyone knows everyone, and they all live very uneventful lives.

Then, several changes happen. The couple in 11 gets pregnant, and decide to move to a suburban house. Then, the businesswoman in 6 is reassigned to China. At around the same time, the writer in 4 fails to get published and is unable to pay the rent. Two weeks later, the college students in 1 graduate, and are promptly hired by multinational corporations...whose bases are at least fifty miles away. The girl living away from home for the first time ( in 2) gets homesick and leaves. Finally, the old man living in 12 is taken into the custody of his relatives after he suffers a heart attack.

The remaining tenants are shaken by this sudden loss of friends and neighbors. But in a month, new people come, to replace the tenants that left. The old tenants are divided. Should they try to accept this sudden influx of new neighbors, or should they stay insular and guarded?

The new tenants are also facing a similar dilemma. Should they reach out to the old tenants, or only to the other new tenants?

No matter what choices they make, they will all run across each other at some point.

Riley arrived at the party straight after work she backed her truck into a parking bay and sat there for a while listening to the radio. She popped open a can of soda and started drinking watching the cars pass "blue, red, blue, pink, green" she whispered to herself whilst writing the colours down. She was just wasting time hoping to not be the first.

After a while of watching cars she got out of the cab and sat on the trucks bed starting on another can

Nana had just moved in. She still had some unpacking to do but her furniture and everything was in. She was sitting in her living room unpacking one of her boxes. "Ok let's see I got ten more boxes to go then I'll be all finished! Then maybe I can finally get to work on that idea I had. Got to make sure I get started on drawing on my characters.....Wait a min isn't there something going on today?.....Oh! That's right! There's a barbeque today. I'll head down after I unpack this box." So she continued to unpack wondering if anyone else had arrived to the barbeque yet.

Blake slept quietly on the couch her small tv was lightly sounding in the background, her hand resting on her belly. After she had home from work last night she rather quickly passed out on the couch not that long after she turned on the tv to watch some cartoon , the girl was even still wearing her work clothes. She slowly moved to roll on to her side when her elbo hit her tv remote turning the volume to max setting the tv had. "Huh?" she said groggily as her eyes opened to the loud noise. Her hand moved to grab the remote underneath her side, pressing the off button on the remote quickly turning it off.

She gently placed the remote right next to the flyer she had gotten for the bbq as she stood up while rubbing her eye lightly with one hand. "ohh yeah the Barbecue is today," Blake said to herself tiredly, when she say the flyer. Blake slowly walked over to the bathroom of her apartment, throwing her work clothes into the hamper taking a quick shower wrapping her bathrobe around her afterwards, along with doing all her morning stuff such as brushing her teeth. She moved to her room quickly throwing on a large grey t-shirt with a bunny on it, skinny jeans, and a pair of brown bearclaw boots. The girl slipped her phone and keys into her back pocket as she walked out the door, locking it behind her.

Krys hadn't had work today, which she was extremely thankful for to be honest. Her boss had simply told her the day before, when she'd come in to get her uniform, that she didn't have to come in tomorrow because of the whole moving thing. Because of this, Krys was still sound asleep in on the mattress she'd managed to set up the night before. She was positive she'd heard her roommate leave that morning, which had been a while ago, and she knew she should probably get the hell up. So, with a groan, she forced herself out of the confines of her blankets and grimaced at the cold of the wood beneath her feet. Oh well, she was pretty sure there was some kinda party today so she figured she'd actually do something today and go there.

What seemed like and extremely fast time for a girl to get ready later, Krys was out her apartment door, locking it behind her. She found her way to the barbecue and sighed at the food she saw layer out and on people's plates. The actual barbecue looked fine, mind you, it was the vegan and vegetarian stuff she was scrunch ingredients her nose at. Krys didn't understand why people would eat that stuff. She found herself searching for her roommate in the small group of people that had amassed at the party, to no avail. Maybe she hadn't got off of work yet?

Riley could pick Krystin out from a mile away. she didn't say nor do anything as she didn't want to attract attention but she eventually found herself walking closer to Krys rather than turn around awkwardly she kept going "umm hey..." she said taking of her cap and letting her very long dark blue hair settle on her shoulders and grease splattered overalls

Krys smiled at Riley, a goofy looking lopsided smile where one corner of her mouth pulled up higher than the other, but still a smile all the same. "Hey. I thought I heard you leave this morning. Have a good day?" She asked, her voice sounding too polite even to her. Krys almost hit herself, the last thing she needed was her roommate thinking she was some sort of....of....well, of something.

"as good a day a tow truck driver can have really. which means bad... less good than other days but not getting punched by a homeless guy bad..." Riley said not really smiling back "so what you been doing all day? had fun?" she asked putting her hat down and leaning on a table

Krys felt bad all of the sudden for just being lazy most of the day. She shifted her feet awkwardly and shoved her hands in her jean pockets. "Umm...well I didn'the have work today so, I've been being lazy. Long drive from my hometown, I'm still dead to be honest." Okay, that sound better than just saying she'd been asleep all day. Krys'S lopsided smirk returned,"Sorry you had a bad day. At least it wasn't punches by a homeless guy bad, that's always good." She let herself laugh a little, taking a hand out of her pocket momentarily to run a hand through blonde hair.

"I know how you feel... I'm running the entire garage by myself. sometimes I don't go in, maybe we could go drinking some time? y'know as friends... not like anything or anything" Riley laughed nervously. she felt like she had just messed up majorly and that she was about to have a repeat of her entire experience with high school

Krys laughed at Riley's sudden nervousness after her offer, but managed to keep a reassuring smile on her face. "Yea, that actually sounds good. Plus I work at the bar not far from here, discounts for days." Cheap drinks were always a plus. "So, when were you thinking, hmm?"

The sound of movement and talking outside woke Julian with a groan. He rolled over and buried his face in his pillow, trying to go back to sleep for a few minutes. It didn't work out and he finally gave up, grabbing his phone from its spot near his head to check the time. He half laughed when he realized he'd slept through most of the day which wasn't unusual when he had the day off. He'd moved into his apartment late last night then stayed up for several more hours doing anything but unpacking. All of his clothes and personal belongings were still in boxes scattered throughout the small apartment and his mattress was on the floor of the living room without any sheets on it. At least he didn't have a roommate to whine about it. Maybe he could turn the second bedroom into a studio. He was still sprawled across his bed when his stomach reminded him of its existence. It must have been nearly a day since he'd eaten which made him realize what the noise was from. The chipper employee who'd given him his key last night hadn't stopped talking about some barbecue, pointedly mentioning the veggie options after giving Julian a second glance. The idea of standing around with a bunch of strangers sounded mildly amusing and his kitchen was still completely empty so Julian finally got himself to his feet. Luckily he was already dressed, having fallen asleep in his clothes, so it was just a matter of shuffling out the door and finding the party.

There were already a few people there but his main thought was the food. Maybe he could sneak some back to his apartment and not have to go shopping tomorrow. Huh. They hadn't been lying about the vegan options at least. He threw food on his plate which ended up being mostly vegetables, before grabbing a drink and finding a corner where he could sit and people watch.

"oh... I don't know... whenever I'm to lazy to go to work... or y'know whenever your free..." Riley almost facepalmed "I'm sorry if that sounded creepy... I-I didn't mean it like that! should I just go now?" Riley asked it was clear she wanted to get along with Krys but didn't exactly know how to talk to her

Krys couldn't help her the smile on her face at Riley's awkwardness, no one had ever really been this awkward around her. "No, honey, you're fine. I'm actually free this Friday, if you are." Her reassuring smile returned, blue eyes brimming with confidence she'd had since her high-school years. Krys was in no way insecure, far from it, she was actually pretty confident in herself. Partly because of her social attitude toward life.

Riley nodded "o-okay I can do Friday." Riley's brain was completely fried, she was mostly trying to figure out the sequence that lead from her offering a drink to Krys calling her honey to the sudden blush that had developed on her face. Riley darted off before Krys could notice her blush

Blake strolled on over to the table of food, after finally finding her way out of the complex she wouldn't say she was lost for she was just taking a detour circling around the hallways for quite a while. She glanced at all the food options a few times deciding on what she wanted before piling her plate up with a few ribs along with some side dishes, before taking a seat at the nearest table.

Krystin's eyes widened as she watched Riley suddenly dart off into the crowd to God knows where. She shook her head and laughed light heartedly before deciding to go take a seat somewhere due to the fact that she was tired of standing. She plopped down in a corner, as far away fron everyone else as she could. There was another guy sitting there as well with a plate almost completely full of vegetables. She didn't mind though, vegetarian was better than vegan.

The most interesting subject for people watching had been the two girls trying to have a conversation while one of them appeared to be on the verge of hysterics so Julian was mildly disappointed when the frazzled one ran off but at least it was a satisfying ending. The blonde from the pair ended up at his table and he was split between annoyance and interest. He'd chosen this table because it was unlikely anyone else would sit here and that'd already been ruined, but it'd be a bigger hassle to get up and move than it would be to just keep sitting here. And if she managed to cause a melt down from a brief conversation the blonde might actually be fun to talk to. It wasn't like there was anything else going on here. So he leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table as he turned towards the girl. "What'd you do to her? She seems terrified." He pointed his fork toward the blue haired girl who'd run off into the crowd.

Krys turned at the voice that seemed to be talking to her and shrugged at the question,"I have absolutely no idea." She told him. She hadn't really expected the guy to talk to her, but conversation was always a plus in her book. If there was one thing Krystin liked to do, it was talk. "I think she's just kinda shy. She's my roommate, isn't used to me yet I don't guess. Not the first time someone has run away from me." Krys spike with a confidence that was odd for females her age, some people disliked it and called it cocky but she didn't mind them she was just being herself.

Loren Langford (Apt. 10)

Currently interacting with: @Samoyed (Blake)

Admittedly, Loren hadn't been planning to attend the barbecue. Over the years, he'd adjusted to the idea that nothing was permanent- especially people- and got used to the coming and going of people. He was surprised that the tenants in the building had been switched out so suddenly; he had just gone downstairs one day and discoverered a completely different bunch of people lived there now. But Loren had figured the new people likely wouldn't stick around much longer. Therefore, there was no point going to the barbecue and meeting them.

But after a long afternoon of reading survey questions to irritated people over the phone, Loren found that he was craving human interaction. His job could get so boring sometimes- he missed the life that he used to have, revolving around music and travelling and hanging out with people. Eventually, he'd decided it couldn't hurt to go to the barbecue. It would be a better way to spend the day than just sitting around and thinking anxious thoughts and smoking out of the window. When he reached the barbecue, he spotted a young lady sat alone.

"You must be one of the new people." Loren sat down beside her, (avoiding the food, of course, because he did not eat food prepared by other people for fear of germs and eventual death), "I haven't seen you around here before, though I admit that I don't get out too much. I'm Loren. Apartment number ten."

"Indeed," she said before taking a bite of a rib, the food was quite good she thought, setting the peice of meat down as she swallowed, whiping her hands on a napkin. "Nice to meet you Loren I'm Blake, I just rolled into town a couple of days ago. I live in the apartment right next to you apartment number 9"The dark haired girl said with a simple smile, before apologize to her neighbor over the Tv sound incident she had earlier.

"Oh, so that was your TV?" He said, realising that must have been what that loud noise was earlier, "Scared the crap out of me for a minute. Don't worry about it, though. Everybody makes mistakes."

Thank god he'd decided against his plan to kick down the door of apartment nine and attack possible intruders with a lamp. That could have been an embarrassing introduction. Blake seemed nice enough, though he couldn't help wondering why somebody as young as her was living in the apartment building. A lot of people in their twenties resided there but most for a reason. After all, who wants to live alone at that age?

"If you don't mind me asking, why'd you move in here? You're young, right? Shouldn't you be out there living your life before you get too old?"
