['Neath Shattered Skies and Scattered Stars] General Discussion - Teams, Plots, and Mayhem

Meanwhile.. I'm No-Moon- but I'm more of a.. Martial Artist Sorcerer, Near-Chimeric, Monster on a Solar-Bond leash.
By high I mean about 3, just to be clear.
I got the joke, it was a good one. If your patron is TED I would be OK with it, since he resonates pretty closely with that logic. We can just call it Broken Wing Crane Style.
This was not 100% clear to me. Are you saying I can have Crane Style as my free MA style if I have Past Life 3+ and my previous incarnation was related to it?

I am debating whether to favor the Ebon Dragon or She Who Lives In her Name, and if only the former gets me the Style I want, it's a pretty easy choice ;)

I'm interested in upping my Essence. Will that be done by ST fiat, or are we banking the points to do that? Also, are we going to be using training times?

I too would like to up my Essence. Though I imagine all of us going up an Essence dot simultaneously would be best, with the fine details of when exactly controlled by accomplishing something impressive/awesome.

I've actually never played an Abyssal before... not sure why it just came to me like that. I'll consider it.
If I do go with the Tide caste Blood Moon, some basic ground rule questions. Would he have Limit Break and Chimerism like a Lunar, or Torment like an Infernal? Both motivation and Urge, same as GSP? Argent Witch Style or Infernal Monster Style?
Functionally he'd have torment, chimerism, motivation and urge. Use Argent Witch style.

I just realized something.
I can't find Oramus charms.
Or am us doesn't have canon charms. There are good home brews out there though, so either find a set to run by me or I can find one for you.

I believe Infernalized Lunars would be using the TAW set, not the actual Primordial Charms. Those are GSP territory only.
They will use TAW, Lunar firm acquisition, and the charms from their patron. No other Yozi, just their pa
Remind me if Lunars can still learn raksha Charms... I forgot.

I believe they can, once they start assimilating Graces.

TED Favored may use the (Broken winged) Crane Style. An infernal exalt with 3+ past life may use a style appropriate to their past life.

I was planning on raising essence with xp (you can also use BP during Character Creation), training times will be subjective to how complicated the skill/attribute/charm is. Shintai? Gonna take a while. Witness to Darkness? A day or two.

Hrm. Plague of Hats Ebon Shadow re-write, yea or nay? Also, any chance I could swap out sai for khatars, mainly for flavour? The mechanical difference is that khatars have +1 more in Defense (but can only block lethal with a stunt) and have lower stats requirements. My character would meet the requisites for a sai though.

I'm going to play with some numbers and see if I can get my Essence to 4 with bonus points then. It is soooo much cheaper to do it that way... I'll just have to lose my familiar and add on a few more Flaws.

Wait, what?

Essence is about the worst xp/bp trade off you can get. The reason to get Essence at chargen is that it is essential (haha) to get the charms that are central to your concept, or because you don't wan to wait the 3 freaking months it takes to train Ess 4.

EDIT: Or a pure powertrip if you're going for 3rd circle binding right off the bat, but that's so obviously broken that no one should allow it.

That's fine. Plague of Hats is a good producer, and Ebon Shadow was chosen because it fits the theme of the Night Caste well.
Also, lordy, leave some room for growth.

To be fair, Sidereals only get good charms at E4+. Plus, did you SEE how many artifacts he had?

I'm not sure what good charms you're talking about. I'm only taking E2, and I see no problems.

My buddy played Sidereals more than me, and he always complained that the charms that were actually useful or could put them on par with a Solaroid game only came at E4+. Mostly starting with higher Essence is just for thematic charm choices though.

Sounds like your buddy was not playing with the Errata revisions. The 2.0 charmset for Sidereals was badly broken. Lots of One True Build issues.

Huh. Fair enough.

In any case, even with BP you shouldn't be able to go higher than E4. A Sidde might get higher, but they have a bit more of an excuse. They aren't being actively hunted, and have access to a lot of their old goodies.

Well, Sids 2.0 was pretty much copypasted from Sids 1.0, which meant a lot of Charms didn't have their keywords or were (very badly) adapted to 2e social combat rules.

@Tepet Doneno How paranoid do I need to be to have be an Infernal in the Imperial City? Is Loom-Snarling Deception sufficient, or do I need Eldritch Secrets Mastery to not get outed as Essence user with a dirty, dirty past?

Also, my character should really ahve the Terrestrial Bloodline Merit, but since I don't expect her to get pregnant before hitting Ess 4, I hope it's OK I don't actually pay for it.

Maybe the Infernal Exaltation sufficiently misaligned her humors that she can't pass it on? So she would be of a Terrestrial bloodline but not have Terrestrial Bloodline.

Possible, but it is specifically compatible with Celestial Exaltation with Essence 3 or less.

Eh, that Merit always struck me as unnecessary. If you have DB blood, you have DB blood. I won't make you pay for it, we just assume that it may come into play. If she gets preggers before E4, that kid's coming out as a DB.

You need Eldritch Secrets if you're going to be flaring any time soon. The Deception may be able to change how you look, but no matter what the radioactive banner with demonic imagery is going to set off alarm bells. One of the exalts in the Scroll of Exalts is getting away with just a Deception, but she is acting as a Patrician. She doesn't need to use flashy charms all that often.

It is a matter of public record that my character failed to Exalt, so she will also be refraining from using charms that are even remotely flashy. My worry was spirits running around with Amethyst Awareness or Measure the Wind, and sending reports on the results to various DBs.
