Naruto frowned. " Wouldn't something like that catch attention, I mean? Dad says the barrier always looks out for foregein chakra and searches for it. How are they getting away with something like that?" Naruto asked in annoyance.

"Hmmm, most likely. It could always be Kumo or even Ame, but Oto sounds most likely." Tenten said thoughtfully with a slight scowl. She would never let any one destroy her collection.

 

[Galactatech]

"but there are ways around that kind of barrier, especially if someone had intimate knowledge of how it worked." Patorikku pointed out.

"Hey, wasn't the sound village founded by that orochimaru guy, you know the one who defected from the leaf village after he got caught doing experiments and stuff?" Choji asked.

"Yeah, but the barrier formula has changed since then." Patorikku pointed out.

 

[MorikoSenju]

(Okay so we are changing when Orochimaru came out about running the village. Nice to know.)

Naruto frowned even more. "I know mom worked really hard on changing it, and closing it to people that have been removed from the village. Dad also added the clause of chakra signatures of those that are dead as well.... So, it would have to be from inside somehow..." He explained now more worried about all of this.

"Maybe we should tell someone?" Hinata suggested.

Naruto thought for a moment before nodding. "Yea. We should. We should tell Sensei and maybe dad..." Naruto agreeed. "If someone is trying to get us to all lose thats cheating, you know?" Naruto was annoyed that anyone would even think of that it was horrible. But he also knew it happened sometimes.

Upon arriving however, they found the Hokage's office swarmed by ninja and civilians alike filing complaints about nightmares.

Naruto blinked in surprise as he looked around. "This...looks bad..." He muttered taking in his dad's worn appearance. Something was going on, and it seemed Dad might have had a nightmare as well last night, but... What about mom? Naruto shook his head, he would check on her later, now they had to figure out what was going on.

 

[Galactatech]

With Minato busy, they thought about trying to ask Kakashi sensei oh, but he was also busy. Trying to help his sensei calm the angry crowd.

Naruto frowned crossing his arms. "Everyone is busy. So what are we supposed to do?!" Naruto demanded in annoyance once they ended up back in teh training grounds.

"then we'll just have to solve this mystery ourselves!" Patorikku declared. "Luckily I know a thing or two about mysteries." Patorikku said, putting on a headband with the kanji 探偵, Tantei, the Japanese word for detective.

"Where'd you get that?" Shino asked.

"It's from my official team Tantei detective kit!" Patorikku said, showing the kit. "Now first thing we should try to do is establish a profile of our suspect. We already know that they would have to have access to the barrier in order to pull something like this off, in addition it would have to be someone who has a grudge against konoha given that everyone in the village is complaining about nightmares. In addition we're also looking for a genjutsu specialist, but someone who obviously needs to be close to their Target in order for that genjutsu to work. Given the timing of the nightmares last night, we can assume that the suspect has to be at least a joaning level Ninja as for shadow clone jutsu is the only means that someone could pull off this single-handedly. We can also rule out that possibilty of multiple people as the chakra signature that Hinata, Neji, and I detected last night are all too similar to be from multiple individuals." Patorikku said.

 

[MorikoSenju]

"That still sounds extremely difficult," Shikamaru spoke up. "I know you Uzumaki and Senju can summon a lot, for normal people though four shadow Clone's can be made at most, and that's if they have great control and a lot of chakra."

Sasuke nodded. "Nii-San said he can make three if he absolutely needs to, but it leaves him completely drained afterwards. That should definitely lower the suspect list, as most people can't make more than one." He suggested. "And they covered a wide area in a decent amount of time."

 

[Galactatech]

"the perhaps our suspect is using another method to cover great distances in a short amount of time." Patorikku said, blowing bubbles out of a bubble pipe which looked like a colorful version of the third hokage's.

"What about the flying thunder God technique?" Hinata suggested.

Naruto couldn't help but watch his bother with a confused and disbelieving expression. Just what was he doing...

"But who would know it? I know the Second Hokage created it, and the Fourth uses it...but who would have time to get ahold of it and study it? I don't think your dada just leaves his Kunai around does he? And the Second never placed his on weapons." Shikamaru said thoughtfully. "Not to mention they would need basics in not only Fuinjutsu, but Space-Time as well."

 

[Galactatech]

Patorikku had an idea. " Follow me guys." He said leading them just outside the Uzumaki compound, right where he saw the figure. "Okay what are we looking for?" Choji asked. "Something, anything that looks like a seal." Patorikku said. "I found something, and it looks old real old." Neji said. "This is it!" Patorikku said.

In fact it was a seal for the flying thunder God technique,b place to buy none other than the second hokage. "As hokage, tobirama senju placed these formula seals all over The village, the reason was so that he could be anywhere in the village within a moment's notice." Patorikku explained. "Kiba, see if I can Akamaru can get a sent off of it." Patorikku said.

"That makes sense..." Shikamaru admitted. He had seen the seals before but no one knew how to activate them, except a small few. "But how did they learn the formula? You can't use a seal if you don't know how.. And from what I've seen all the Hirashin seals are different." He trailed off thoughtfully. Had someone studied the seconds seal that closely? He thought as he watched Akamaru and Kiba sniff around.

Naruto shrugged. "I would normally ask Chiruka..." Naruto paused with a frown. Finally realizing what he had been forgetting. Chiruka had been nowhere in his nightmare and he hadn't even thought about her when talking to his parents. Did he just trust her that much, or did it have something to do with what's causing the nightmares?

The train of thought was broken as akamaru barked, indicating that he picked up on a scent. It was definitely recent. The group followed akamaru, who let them to a dilapidated compound on the edge of the village.

As soon as Patorikku saw the Crest on the compound, everything made sense.

It was the crest of the Gensō clan. They had since falling onto hard times since the 3rd shinobi World War. During that war they had been instrumental in the war effort, however, their nightmarish techniques were used in some of the most horrible atrocities carried out in the war. So much so that the hokage declared their most potent jutsu as forbidden jutsu, prohibiting it from being used ever again. Because of this, the clan was a shell of its former self.

Shikamaru frowned as he looked over the area. "Of course, its something like this..." he muttered in annoyance. There was a long history of Clans that had turned or been shunned in the Ninja Nations. This was just one of them.

Naruto was pretty confused as he didn't know anything about this. "So...what? Are we gonna learn who was using the seconds seal now?" He questioned.

 

[Galactatech]

"nope, we report back to dad and let him take from here." Patorikku said.

Naruto pouted slightly and crossed his arms. "At least that should help some right?" He questioned glancing around the others. No one seemed happy about what they had found. But dad could probably handle things from here, right?

 

[Galactatech]

A squad of the Uchiha Police arrived as they raised the compound. After being interrogated by Ibbiki, the clan confessed to being responsible for the nightmares.

they had secretly copied the knowledge for the flying thunder God technique and spent years perfecting it. Then, by using their genjutsu in conjunction with it, had intended to send Konoha into unending nightmares for the way their clan had been shamed.

With that mystery solved, training for the exams began.

Naruto was relieved when everything was taken care of. He couldn't understand why a person would want to trap someone in Nightmares. It just seemed wrong and sick to him. It did make him wonder though, why his sister had never been an apart of his nightmares. Had he never feared she would turn on him? Or had she just been gone so long that... That he was forgetting about her? Naruto couldn't help the horrible guilt he felt at that thought but soon shoved it away forcefully.

He had an Exam to finish and then he could wonder about her all he wanted later. His team and he were all receiving training, Uncle Jiraya had even shown up and offered some help! He had given them all ideas and techniques to try and he was excited to do so!

He was going to prove himself Chunin Material, Believe it!

Jiraiya taught Naruto extensively. Because Naruto has his godson, and because he was terrified of angering Kushina, Jiraiya kept his perverted nature locked up in a closet, buried that closet under a mountain, and set fire to said mountain. Rather than train him in the village however, Jiraiya decided to take Naruto to mount myoboku, the home of toads. This was so that Naruto could focus on his training without distractions, as well as starting to get to know the toads to see if he had an affinity with them like his father did.

Meanwhile, Patorikku was training with the ANBU and was starting to grasp their more advanced techniques. In addition, his chakra control was gradually improving, which would allow him to use his jutsu more efficiently.

Finally the day of the finals came as Jiraiya brought Naruto back a few nights before the finals so the Naruto could spend that time resting, as well as gorging himself on kushina's cooking. Shima was a kind-hearted, motherly toad. But her cooking was more geared towards what would be best for a toad rather than what would be best for a human.

Naruto was relieved to be home. That and was overjoyed to spend time with his family.

Patorikku smiled as he glomped his big brother. A few days past until the chunin exam finals began. Naruto would be fighting Neji in the first round. Followed by Sasuke vs Gaara, Kumkuro vs Shino, Temari vs. Shikamaru, Hinata vs Rock Lee, Dosu vs Zaku, Kin vs Ino, and Choji vs Tenten.

The Tournament came and Naruto could see his mother in teh stands cheering happily, while his father was silent and calm within the Hokage booth. Naruto grinned giving a quick wave to both. He was confused about why Sasuke seemed to be late. Kakashi-Sensei as rarely late after all... Maybe something happened? Either way, Naruto shoved the thoughts aside and looked up as teh matches were set to begin. He gave a grin towards Neji and gained an eye roll and smirk from his friend.

When the match was called Naruto moved forward to meet Neji. Both nodding to each other and giving the sign of combat with determined eyes. Naruto was ready and knew how to face Neji. But he had to make sure he could think things through. He knew Neji was definitely Chunnin material, having trained with him before. So he had to prove himself equal in abilities and thought if not win this.
