Fandom Naruto: Tales of Times Past

(Neji and riyoshi were returned to the hospital lol. We should probably also time skip soon.)

Neji sighed as next thing he knew he was back in the hospital. He laid in a bed next to riyoshi as he thought about their mission at hand.

This mission could take them away from the village for a really long time, and for all they knew these creatures didn't even exist. He sighed as he continued to think of all the things that could go wrong on this mission.

Fen hai looked upon the 9th hokage and took in a deep breath.

“How am I supposed to have more faith in them? They are a bunch of children with a little experience under their belts.” Fen Hai spoke out as he leaned forward and placed his elbows upon his desk.

~~~~
As Riyoshi lay within the bed next to Neji, The nurses came in and began their medical procedures. All of the medical jounins were teaming up on the two uchihas, fixing their injuries. A week had past and the two boys were within the training center in the middle of the hospital. The nurses were conducting the tests to see if everything was all in order. At the end of the testing the two Uchiha were releases and headed out of the hospital. Being greeted outside by the sunshine, Riyoshi stretched and took in a deep breath. The warmth of the sun felt good against his slightly tanned skin.
“So Neji. You ready to head out on our mission? I had my mother gather up our stuff and meet us at the gate.” Riyoshi said as he headed straight for the southern gate.
“Hopefully the girls will be there waiting for us, or at least arriving when we get there so none of us have to wait to long on eachother.” Riyoshi spoke out as he continued to walk towards the gate.
The sun shun through Yuka's curtains, gracing her pale skin with the warmth of sunlight. Since her body was sensitive to the subtle changes of temperature her groggy eyes awoke, and her ears tasted the sound of sparrows chirping. Like most people her age she had trouble getting up after a long nights rest. However after a while she finally built up the small motivation it took to rise out of bed. Her house was rather quiet, her father was not in the house, he was probably on a mission of doing something business related, like usual. Yuka took a seat and grabbed an apple out of the bowl that sat on the table. She slowly gnawed to the core of the apple, taking her time, knowing full well her poor sleeping habits probably led her to wake up at the mere hour of 5 a.m..
Yuka was in no way hyped for the mission, not a hint of adrenaline in her blood stream. As such she could remain contempt and quiet. However she had to properly prepare for the mission and she would need a lot of water. Not for drinking, but for offensive and defensive purposes. Using the water in the canteens she would drench opponents and freeze them with more ease than usual, and freezing her blood seemed impractical. Finally she grabbed her metalic weapons, her knife and a collection of Kunai's and Shuriken. Finally she was fully prepared and she began to make her way outside, where she found her father tending to the flowers outside. At the sight of his daughter Satoshi calmly grinned and stood up looking Yuka in the eye.
"Are you leaving so early?" Satoshi said calmly, setting the water pail on the ground.
Yuka paused a moment, her face remaining still. "Yea... I like being early..." She said nonchalantly, looking anxious to leave.
Satoshi tilted his head, and walked towards Yuka and grabbed her hair, looking at it with a worried look. "With hair this long, you'll have it caught on something. Allow me to cut it." He said sweetly withdrawing his hand.
Yuka, knowing full well she couldn't get out of this situation instinctively nodded and set her hands to down to her side. Satoshi's palms glistened blue with charkra and made a precise and straight cut at the hair, cutting it a little bit shorter. Satoshi pulled out a hair band and elastic. He slowly set the hair pieces in her, with a odd melancholy look on his face.
"These were your... mothers.. well she'd be your step mother. You remind me of her, I know you'll probably just tear them out as soon as you can, but please, for me. Could you wear them?" Satoshi said in a saddened and nostalgic filled voice. Yuka paused, she didn't exactly hate the hair pieces, it was just odd to see her father like this. She was actually quite happy with the hair band, it had a beautiful design , sort of like the hidden leafs symbol, just it had an icicle in the middle of the circle. She nodded at her father and slowly walked away, out the gates and into the village. Around 30 minutes of walking around she found herself walking behind Neji and Riyoshi, not being much of a conversationist she stayed quiet as a mouse and followed the boys to the gate.
Waking up bright and either consisted of snoring, rolling over and smashing her alarm. Noooooo. It was far to early to be getting up. Her hair was wild and tangled. Normally she put a lot of work into her hair so it was waving and shiny, but with them going off on a mission, such things today seemed more effort than it was worth. She wasnt happy that Neji would see her like this but it couldn't be helped.
After about an hour of grunting, groaning, procrastinating and finally showering. Aime came ou8t into her room only wearing a towel. Her face, contorted and groaned.
“Mooooooooooom!!..”
Her mother was in her room, sorting all her clothing for her mission and some other medical supplies they had spares of.
“Shuddup you! You’re gonna be late and you’re the medic of your team. It is of utmost importance that you have all the supplies! I will not have my baby or her friends coming back to us in caskets.”
When her mom put it like that she kind of got a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. Death was always present as a shinobi, but this mission, it seemed exceptionally high. Without a reason, she hugged her mom tightly.
“We will come back, we always do.” She whispered.
Time passed and she got dressed, finished her other bags and finally she worked on her hair. Leaving one side of bangs to hang on the right side in her face, she tightly pulled back the rest, twisting it into a bun of sorts and messing with it until it was held in place. It wasnt perfect, but it was enough to keep it out of her way.
=====
Aimeka, like always, was a slight over achiever. She had been at their spot waiting an hour early. Yet somehow even with that she was not actually first. Riyoshi’s mother had been there first. Sitting a a chair next to the guards box, at her feet were supplies and bags for both Riyoshi and Neji. She herself was chatting up a storm with the guard, who looked like he couldn’t handle much more of her blather.
She noticed the young girl as she approached and waved. Aime put on a stressed smile and waved back.
Finally getting over next to her, she kneeled down, removing her backpack. Unzipping it, she checked her supplies within it and her clothing making sure at last that she didn’t forget anything, she then checked the back on her waist, and the small ones on either side of her legs.
Everything seemed in order, and about that time, she happened to see the Boys and Yuka coming up to her. Something was different about Yuka, though at this distance she couldn’t quiet seem to tell.
OK we are going to try something. In your next post, you dont have to check your supplies but make a list and think it out well. These supplies will be all that we have. The reason is not so much like “oh you only have 5 kunai”, but more about if we need a rope and no one has it, i dont want someone pulling it out of no where. I’m not worried about kunai, shuriken, wire or other small weapons. just be realistic as we RP with those, but for more advanced weapons like scrolls or wind shuriken i want a limited number. I dont want one person being like “woohoo i gots 57 fuuma shuriken!!!” unless you have a scroll or something. thats a lot of metal to be hulking around xD
Think about things your character may or may not use and what you may want. Supplies may or may not disappear or be added as we go.
Neji walked beside riyoshi as they continued toward the main gate. He knew that Yuka was behind them but he did not say anything.
Neji kept thinking about the battle that put him and his friends in the hospital. Neji graduated number one in their class he was the prodigy of the uchiha clan at the moment, but in that battle he was utterly useless. What would happen if that happened to him again and he couldn't protect his friends. Neji sighed and tried pushing these thoughts out of his head as he knew he had to be totally focused on this mission
They walked up to the gate as they saw riyoshis mom who was Nejis aunt and she had both Neji and riyoshis bags and Aimeka was also already there.
Neji smiled at Aimeka "good morning aime." He then turned to his aunt "thank you for bringing my bag." Neji started to go through it to make sure he had everything he needed. He had extra clothes and extra shoes. He also had 10 kunai knives and 10 shureken and enough good to last them awhile. There was also some rope in there and a lot of money so they could but more supplies on the trip.
Arriving at the gate, he seen that everyone was there, even his mother was still there. Hanging his head slightly, Riyoshi soon brought his attention back up to the gate. They were about to take off on their first really challenging mission. Reaching down and grabbing his bag, he unzipped the big portion of the pack and looked upon it's contents.
2x trench knives
leather gloves.
weapon scroll
small medicine scroll
change of clothes
scroll with the word money upon the side.
Zipping the bag back up and smiling at his mother, Riyoshi placed the bag over his shoulder and gave his mother a big hug. His mother smiled at her son as she kissed him upon the forehead.
"All right son. I packed some things that you might need upon this mission. Since we were not allowed to be informed upon what kind of mission you were going on, I packed you light. I used the scrolls instead of the heavy objects." Sakura spoke out as she took a step back from the group of kids.
Wiping tears from her eyes, she looked upon the group of kids and took in a deep breath.Within an instant, she vanished from sight and left the group on their own. Looking around at the other three, Riyoshi smiled.
"So do we just take off for the first location?" Riyoshi said as he stood near the gate.
Yuka pulled back her hair and made her way to the gate where she could see a blurred out person. It was clearly a girl, her figure suggested so and her blue her glistened slightly in the sun, it was rather obvious who it was, Aimeka. She was a little disappointed that she was the last one to arrive, even if it was by a couple of seconds, but she digressed and made her way to the gate.
She had never seen Riyoshi's mother before and she was surprised to see her there, saying her goodbyes to Riyoshi. (I assume this is the Sakura from the anime) She had nice pink hair and it was well tended to aswell, if only Riyoshi inherited that hair colour, maybe then he would be slightly more interesting to be around. She noticed everyones supplies and remembered that she should double check it. Yuka peered into her bags to check her supplies, to make sure everything was there and in place.
Belt: 3 small water canteens and 2 slim butcher knives which are sharpened for combat.
Bag (left): 5 Shuriken, anti-poison and 1 roll of bandages.
Bag (right): 3 Kunai and a 2 granola bars.
It seemed everything was in place and she was more than ready to go. She looked back up and stared her team mates in the eye. "Shall we get going, that is if everyone is ready." She said in her usual blank tone, but something was new in her voice, a slight hint of confidence.
[sorry for the long wait everyone, once finals are over I promise to be on more for this :) !]
Aime waved, “Hey guys!”
The guard, ending his conversation with Riyoshi’s mother, soon turned his attention to the kids standing before him.
As they all arrived, checked their supplies and stuff, getting ready to head out the guard came over. Taking a manilla envelope from his hand, he removed the paperwork from inside of it and started to read it.
“Operation: Tales of the Past.” He smirked, not knowing the details he kind of assumed it was a basic, goofy mission for goofy kids. “Operational leader for this mission will be Neji Uchiha. In the event of a lose, Riyoshi is second in command, Then Yukashima Minamoto, Then Aimeka Nozara. You are to observe and obtain information. Do not retrieve artifacts unless absolutely necessary.
Taking out the maps and other important documents, only 1 or 2, he handed them to Neji. It was a standard map with coordinates and the sort but no markings on it and only a set of coordinates of where they were heading as well as a compass.
It was standard, since they had all been debriefed it was pointless for such secretive information to be enclosed as well.
“Goodluck and godspeed.” Said the guard before heading back in his shack and turning back to a book he had laid down before Riyoshi’s mother interrupted them.
Aime watched Neji and Riyoshi and Yuka before deciding it was time to speak.
“Off we go!!!” Moving over to Yuka she leaned in and whispered to her. “I like your hair. It’s really pretty.” She contained a giggle. Aime knew Yuka hated that girl to girl thing, but she was still a friend and the only other girl so it just would be.
Neji finished looking into his bag and made sure he had enough supplies. Then he watched as the guard walked over to them and started to speak.
He heard the guard say that him Neji would be the team leader or this mission. He gulped but stayed calm and tried to make him self look confident for this opportunity he was given. He had been leader of a mission before but never one of this rank and importance. He still hadn't gained back his confidence after nearly being killed in that last fight, but he put on a smile and took the papers that were given to him.
He turned to his friends, "alright guys let's head out." Neji turned and walked out of the gate as he looked down at the map. "We will be heading to the location near the village hidden in the sand first."
When the mission got called out to them, he was kind of excited to hear that he was not the captain of the team, but his cousin was. Going over and placing his right arm around the back of Neji's neck, he couldn't help but be a tad bit rough.
"Captain huh! I told you that you would make it sometime." Riyoshi spoke out as he let Neji go and began to walk next to him.
Fixing his backpack upon his back, he took in a deep breath and looked forward down the path. Looking over his shoulder at the two girls, he thought to himself for a minute before bringing his attention back to the path ahead of them.
Yuka's cheeks flustered cherry red as Aime passed her, it wasn't that she had a crush on Aime, it was more that she wasn't used to such flattery. She slowly put her hand on her hair with a puzzled look on her face, but she slowly mouthed the words 'thanks', the words struggling to leave her mouth. She watched Aime go past her, then she fixated her attention on Neji and Riyoshi, she still could't believe Neji was picked as captain over her, but then again that mean't she didn't have to babysit everyone. Still though, she thought she'd offer him a 'friendly' pointer. She walked over to the two boys and looked over to Neji rather blankly as she sarcastically saluted.
"Captain.. may I suggest a non-rash approach, you saw what happened last time you used your strategies. You almost killed yourself!" She said in a satirized voice that a lieutenant would use addressing a higher up.
She paused a moment and then tapped him on the shoulder playfully.
"Whatever, I'm sure you'll do fine." She said and kneeled against a nearby wall, awaiting their leave.
(I hope your hair makes a full recovery Slash :3. Also I am trying to nail out a personality for her, don't want to make her too blank.)
Aimeka laughed at Yuka’s voice in mocking Neji. It was so nice to see her smile. Things must of been going well for her. It was great to have such good friends. However; always being the nosey person she was, her eyes wander to the map in Neji’s hands. Quickly she snatched it from him and scuttled over to Yuka, leaning agaisnt the wall, shoulder to shoulder with her. Holding the map up, Aime looked it over.
“What is this crap? Only one area with a giant circle? That’s like 4 or 5 days from here at average speed. No stops in between.” Her cheeks flared out a little and she sighed. “This is a long mission, shouldn’t we stop for food?”
Her finger traced on the map. There were multiple ways to get to Suna. They could stop inbetween but there was no need to. They could ignore roads and go straight with compass and map, or they could make their own path. Stopping over major and minor towns she looked at Neji.
Aime sighed, pointing at Ukawa Shores, “The hot springs there are so nice. We could soak in mineral water.” She continued to drone on. “It’s so good for your skin and any aches and pains just go away.”
She wasn’t trying to be bossy. Neji was their leader after all. Standing up straight she gave a salute now and with a straight fierce face she said, “But it’s commanders choice. What are your orders sir?!” Handing the map out for Neji to take back. She tried to retain her laugh as long as possible.
((BTW like i said. We roll with the punch, the choice is yours Tim. get in character do what you feel you need to. How would it be fun if the path was linear ;0 Just dont do a time skip. we will do those if necessary. Choose the first place Cap’t. PS hope you like my map :D ))
Neji took the map from Aimeka and looked it over for a few minutes as he tried to decide which path to take.
The most direct route looked like it would take them through a few towns but that's okay, they could resupply in these towns so it would be okay.
Neji turned to the group. "Okay guys we are going to try and take the most direct route so we will go through saisuno and then through okusa. Then we will enter the land of rivers and then after that we will be in the land of win where the village hidden in the sand is and where the first bijuu is suppose to be."
Neji smiled as he started to gain back a little confidence. "Okay let's get moving."
Riyoshi sighed as his cousin spoke out about taking the direct approach. He was more or less the one to be about the direct approach. Taking in a deep breath, Riyoshi brought his hand up and placed against the bridge of his nose and exhaled slowly.
"Are you really sure that is the way that you want to take?" Riyoshi spoke out just under his breath.
Removing his hand from the bridge of his nose, Riyoshi placed his hands in his pockets and kept strolling down the path that was selected by Neji. Taking in a deep breath, Riyoshi was not really looking forward to a straight shot to the mission. He was wondering if maybe they could see some of the sights while they are on their travels. Exhaling through his nose, Riyoshi shifted the straps upon his shoulders while leaving his hands in his pockets.
"All right guys. Let's get this trip going." Riyoshi spoke out as he did not look upon the group.
Riyoshi was around 20 feet ahead of the rest of the group and just kept his pace steady.
Yuka took a quick glance at the map Aime held in her palms. She could already see multiple possible routes, but one thing she realized is how tiring it would be. She watched as Neji came and observed the map, and told the group his plan. It did not match Yuka's idea completely. Yuka walked in closer to the group and began to speak up.
"You are insane if you want to walk there entirely. I say we talk the path directly to Osuka, where we will stock up supplies, from there we should quickly head our way to the land of rivers and find someone who has a boat, maybe there is a small hamlet near the rivers, walking on foot is energy consuming and that is not good for what might be to come. But it's not like you have to listen to me or anything, just throwing out a suggestion, the Hokage never said anything about having to walk." She said honestly.
The boat idea was genius. But it was obviously to early to decide entirely what to do. At least that's what Aime thought. She turned. Snuggling her backpack against her and checking her straps on her legs before following Riyoshi.
Quickly she trotted to catch up to Riyoshi. Turning she asked , "Do you think this mission will really be that dangerous? I still think that attack before was a fluke. Surely not everyone will show that kind of power difference between us. We were caught off guard pretty bad."
She just faced straight forward her tone kind of weak and sad. Aime was just afraid of them dying. Quickly she spoke up changing the subject, her tone entirely different now, " Regardless Neji we are stopping at the spa. I want a bath of luxury."
The girl giggled before trotting off ahead of Riyoshi. Quickly
she glanced back and gave Riyoshi the death eye. The spa visit would be fore her and Yuka only. No peeping toms allowed.
Neji walked with the group as he listened to what they had to say. Neji sighed as he looked over the map again and thought to himself. They are right. There is no need to be so brash about this mission and bet our selfs killed.
Neji looked at his friends. "Okay guys Osaka is right on the boarder of the land of rivers. So when we stop there to rest we will go over the map together and decide what we want to do from there. Is that okay with everyone."
Neji was determined to be a good leader and to protect his friends. So he knew he had to be smart about the groups movements and plans.
Riyoshi was deep in thought as he kept walking down the path way. It was only when Aime spoke something to him did he snap back into reality. Her question bounced around his head for a minute before he replied to her.
"Well, seeing how the mission was classified for a team of five jounin, I am thinking that it will most likely be of the highest amount of danger. If we are to explore these lands blindly and look for the great tailed beasts, then yes. What if we do find them and they turn out to be mindless beasts that end up attacking us?" Riyoshi said to Aime as he kept his pace.
Looking over at Aime, Riyoshi had a curious expression upon his face.
"What do you mean about the attack being a fluke? What exactly happened during that fight?" Riyoshi said as he kept looking at Aime.
Just then Neji spoke up and issued out another order. Riyoshi nodded his head without looking upon Neji, for Neji could see him and his respect.
"Got it sir. I believe the first town to be an hours walk from here. If we take off in a run, we should be there in half the time." Riyoshi spoke out as he kept his eyes upon Aime and her death glare.
Why will they not tell me the full details of that night. I only have quick flashes of that night, but i can not determine what is real, and what i think is real. Riyoshi thought to himself as he kind of blanked out of reality for a second.
Yuka sighed and shook her head. She quickly picked up her pace to catch up fully with the group, as she usually stranded her self behind.
"Well then, let's not just keep walking and get moving, we are more prone to attacks while walking this slow. Let's just get to Osaka and rest up and make preparations, I want to get this suicide mission over with!" She said, putting her hands in her pockets as if she didn't care. What were the Hokage thinking at least assign 2 jounin to help them, but what did she care? She remained her pace and awaited for further orders, but she did sort of agree with Aime on the hotspring idea. She walked a little closer to Aime and leaned over slightly.
"Do you think they have cold baths there? You know, cause I am ice cold, it's like eating ice cream then hot soup, it hurts." She said to her, trying to pull off a smile. She might aswell be slightly social in her last couple of days on this planet.
She heard Riyoshi’s question loud and clear. They were not suppose to talk about it but everyone seemed down and on edge. Seriously? How often did someone attack like that. It was a fluke, it had to be. Or was her mind just trying to justify being so weak. Turning around she stopped and looked Riyoshi in the face. He was still a ways away so she spoke.
“Look dude. Simple fact is you got your ass kicked. I got my ass kicked, and Neji and Yuka got their asses kicked. We all let our guard down because we thought we were safe in our own village. That was just a reminder that the life of a Shinobi is always dangerous. We were lucky that time. We may not be next time.”
She sighed deeply, looking down at the ground for a second. It sucked to admit the truth, but that's how it was. Looking back up she could now see Yuka and Neji following.
“Yes this mission is dangerous, Yes we might die. But we may also find our goal, learn something great, and experience something that no one else ever can. Ya’ll need to stop being so negative and cheer up. Just stay on our toes, stay alert, and we will be fine. I know it. We are Shinobi of the greatest Nation ever, ya know.”
Bending her legs slightly. Aimeka did a somersault backwards twice, not very fast but kind of fancily. You know, showy off style a little.
“If you guys are in such a hurry to get to our destination, then so be it. Last one to Saisuno has to pay for lunch.”
With that, she crouched down and ninja jumped, leaping up to the tall trees that stood next to the ground. She was going to try and take the Shinobi path to get there fastest. With a few great leaps, she almost instantly created a large distance between her and the team. Though she knew this would not last so working hard, she tried to keep her pace up for as long as possible.
Neji smiled "okay them come on let's get a move on. Neji leaped into the air and onto branch and then jumped from branch to branch as the group made their way to saisuno the first town they would go thtough.
Neji thought to him self about a bunch of different things, but mostly about all the different things this mission would have in it.
Neji activated his sharnigan so he stayed alert. He then yelled to Aimeka "hey Aimeka stay with the group okay, no need for anyone to go off on their own."
Riyoshi was not pleased with the tone that Aime took with him and really not pleased with her answer. It was the same shit they told him since he awakened in the emergency room of the hospital. Riyoshi brought his hands up and threw them across his chest. Exhaling deeply through his nose as he seen Aime and Neji leap from their locations and head off into the trees.
"Freaking ninjas." Riyoshi said as he turned his head towards Yuka's spot.
"You might want to get going with the group. You do not want to be the last one to arrive at the town." Riyoshi said as he started off in a jog.
Turning his attention back onto the pathway, Riyoshi kept his jogging pace and followed the actual pathway.
Yuka paused a moment, a glooming look on her face. "But I didn't even agree to this competition... Should I just head back and grab my wallet now?" She said slowly, knowing full well they couldn't hear her. Hell, they were probably a minute ahead of her by now. She let out along sigh and jumped from branch to branch on the long trees, and to make up time she hopped quick, yet eloquently to her group. Exhausted already by the speed, she began to breathe heavily, her brain had a hard time accepting the fact that she still had another hour to go.
You see Yuka was never the fittest, or the speediest. She always relied on quick wits and her defensive battle strategy.
Aime had been leading the way, which was surprising she wasnt going fast nore was she going slow, but rather at a steady pace that made the most of her energy. Turning back she could see Neji, and well enough that he had his sharingan out.
Maybe it was her being naive but she truly didnt think they would be in any more danger for awhile. Leading branch to branch she tilted her head to the right, looking down at the road. It was fairly empty but for the few people they passed, they paid no attention to the ninja.
Turning around backwards as they jumped she yelled back at Neji. “You know. For being a Genius, you sure are slow!!” Taunting him to go faster. Surely she wasn’t into racing, but then again, having a little friendly competition wasnt bad for friendships.
Showing off a little, she somersaulted backwards as they passed branch to branch to see if Neji would take her bait.
Neji was usually pretty serious when he was out on a mission. He didn't like to mess around a lot while he was out representing the village, but he was not about to be shower up by aime.
Neji smirked as he started going full speed as he quickly caught up and jumped over aime and passed her. Once he passed her he turned back and smiled at her. "I hope that was genius enough for you, now that's enough messing around. Stay alert okay I don't want anything to happen to you."
Neji blushed when he said that. He didn't want anything to happen to any of his friends but well as most of the kids in their class know. Neji has liked Aimeka for a long time.
