Mythology/Gods style RP?

True, although you'd have to work him into what existing knowledge we have of the Celtic myths. I happen to have a penchant in this area, if any help is needed. :3


The question of having gods from multiple pantheons interact is how to explain the universe and its cosmology. Is the earth made from Grandmother Gaia, or is it a branch of the World Tree Yggdrasil, or is it a disc on the back of a giant turtle?

That's a Wiccan/Neopagan interpretation of the figure of Cernunnos as a Dionysian life-death-rebirth nature deity, which has no historical basis. He's also equated with the Greek Pan in that version. Still, you can go with that, there's nothing saying he's not those things.

I think we should just stick them all in Cuzco. That's the center of Cosmological Order for the Inca, simple as that. It's probably one of the simplest creation stories I've learned about o:

But if every god exists, then what is the sun? The blood of the Aztec Tonatiuh, the Chariot of the Greek Helios, a disc carried by the Japanese Amaterasu, the solar barque of the Egyptian Amun-Ra...or what? Questions like that always arise when you cross over mythologies.

An all-original cosmos? Oh, I like that. Making up gods. Building a universe from the top-down. Start with the first gods, show them actually creating the heavens and the earth, and mankind. See the Creation Story from their perspective for once, rather than ours.

I guess I"m choosing a god based on Cernunnos, just with a different name.

Okay. So. I have some suggestions for gods we need:


Creator God/Distant, omnipotent authority.


Sky father and earth mother.


Sun and moon. Husband and wife? Brother and sister?


Life-death-rebirth deity.


God and goddess of the underworld.


First man and woman. Adam and Eve/Ask and Embla archetype.


Flood myth/temporary destruction of the world. Single survivor, like Biblical Noah/Mesopotamian Utnapishtim/Greek Deucalion.


Satanic antagonist/monster representing primordial chaos. Killed to bring order to the universe. Like Greek Typhon, Babylonian Tiamat, Aztec Cipactli and so on.
