Hey All. Way to go on warning everyone DragonSlayer, that means the monsters do not get a surprise round on the group.

Now I do want initiative rolls, there really isn't a reason for a turn order in text based rp. Lets roll initiative and see if anyone can beat the monster's 10. anyone that rolls higher than a 10 can take their turn now.

I mean, there are reasons. The presence or lack of a turn order completely changes the dynamic of sequencing after all, not to mention that it's a considerable nerf to any initiative-based features, feats etc... You are right it can stall things though. Just wanted to bring up that its not a one-sided consideration.

While I did consider that, I didn't see anyone's abilities that were dependent on initiative. Was there someone's ability I forgot to consider?

Last time I did a PbP DnD game, it wasn't so bad, but yeah the DM really needed to push players to progress the battle along, and usually the fights were small scale because doing DnD on forums is more story-oriented than battle.

If some players picked features affected by initiative amd turn order, I'm positive we can work things out with our DM.

That being said, initiative suckas!

Initiative: 21

OFf the top of my head, I think there's the rogue sneak attack affected by advantage. Is this a thing in 5e, having advantage on the very first turn taken before your target?

Also, as I often play healers, I usually delay my actions to be at the very end of the turn so I cam act accordingly to whoever needs to tend to the wounds sustained during the round.

I think there was something with unseen attackers / surprise (I'd have to check), but otherwise not as far as I am aware. However, things can be done by players such as movement or anything that could give a rogue advantage, which would trigger sneak attack.

Rouges get sneak attack whenever they have advantage and going first does not effect that. Being close to an ally would give sneak attack though due to flanking.
also Sylvestra can still delay their turn. You just need to ask.
If they want to hide, Sher just need to ask me to hide.

I want to be clear, all I said is that it changes the dynamic, not that it is strictly negative or positive. The inability to fully coordinate actions is part of the point of initiative.

Not disputing the decision.

You can still coordinate actions all you want.
If this is a bad idea we don't have to do it this way.

I have no issues with. Like I said, I'm positive we can all work this out together into a cohesive encounter, order or not.

That being said, speaking of advantage, I'm going to have Sylvestra upcast Enhance Ability to a 3rd-level spell slot to be able to grant Cat's Grace on Athaclenna to give her advantage on all Dexterity-based rolls and Bull's Strength on Eredartis to give him advantage on all Strength-based rolls.

Beat'em up real good folks, I got your backs!
