Mirrors and Clocks

(No it's perfectly fine, flawless. She's preoccupied anyways so she won't even see it coming~)

While mulling over the prospects of the request form, a sudden bombardment of flesh nearly propelled her off her feet-- if it weren't for the two large hands that took a hold of her shoulders. The shock was miniscule but she lost her slip to the wind and was now swatting at the air in an attempt to recover it. Finally crunching it between her fingers, eyes wide with relief, she looked back to both her savior and bombarder. "Um..it's no problem. I wasn't really paying attention myself" she smiled a little guiltily.

((Only lost as to how he read Ryder's mind... Italics does mean thought correct?.. Perhaps I am wrong in assumption... No matter.. Drowsiness is on the rise again, good night.. My apologies for posting OOC in IC...))

Julia had been separated from them when, in their way to the cork board she had seen a delicious looking pudding being sold at the cafeteria. She couldn't help herself and bought it, turning around from the lady who sold it to her to see there was neither of the two girls around "Oh, damn.." She muttered softly before digging her spoon on her pudding and taking a big piece to her mouth. She walked calmly through the hall of the mirrors and clocks until she arrived to the courtyard where the usual crowd around the board could be seen. She scratched the back of her head, wondering what to do as her spoon hung on her mouth from side to side. However, when she saw Largo and Alyss by chance she smiled to herself and walked to them "Did you found something good?" She asked with a somehow muffled sound as the spoon was still on her mouth and her pudding on her hand.

(Sorry got a little lost so I'll just jump in ><)

Alyss turned from the girl who had spit on her hands and nearly collided with Largo. She dodged and found Julia again. "Whew. Lots of people there. Well, we found one with enchanted wolves... What was the pay, Largo?" She asked, finding Largo steadying herself with another guy. "And the time limit? Do you think we'd be able to do this one?"

Dmytri smiled at the her. She's kinda cute, he thought.

"It's no problem," He chuckled. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I'm Dmytri." Dmytri looked over to the girl who had just addressed her. "Largo?" He smiled. "Nice name. You look otherwise disposed at the moment, Hopefully we'll bump into each other again... Bye." He said as he nodded and walked out of the courtyard. He walked down the hall and towards the foyer again.

"Wonder where you are, sis." He stated softly to himself. He approached the fountain in the foyer and sighed in relief. Bags still here, he thought. He grabbed his bags and Nezumi's. Now... living arrangements.

Feeling the pat on his shoulder, Ryder would turn to watch the other off. Short lived by his collision with another with an exchange of words. "Or perhaps he is merely uncanny with his meetings.." Dmytri was his name, if anything could be gathered by the conversation that had passed between the two.

Clenching the warm metal within his hand, he was reminded of the room key. Deciding that it was probably a decent enough excuse to escape the crowds, he made his way towards the inside of the building. However he would need to keep a careful eye for the new acquaintance. More confrontation would probably just throw him off more.

(Hehe... Seems I lied a little... Suppose I actually should go to bed now.. Sorry for a half-dazed post..)

Largo raised a brow in confusion and waved awkwardly as Dmytri retreated after introducing himself. It was almost as if he had repeated the same words she'd just said. "Umm yeah..." She didn't really get a moment to think about his latest statement when Alyss and Julia finally descended upon the location. "Hey you two." she greeted them and agreed with Alyss by indication of a nod and continued, "Yeah there's too many people around here--let's talk about this over there perhaps?" Largo pointed out a semi-enclosed fountain and garden parallel to the courtyard. It was the time of day where everyone was preoccupied with the mission board, so the garden was left quite peaceful. She smoothed out the slip between her fingers from when it had been crunched.

(lol that white lie. tisk tisk)

(( ... **Points convincingly, again, to page 5** :'3 YouknowI'mpurposefullybeingajerkface. ))

Roo was a bit disappointed seeing that Vivi, his strongest supporter for the time being, had left him. For now he was stuck with Irina and Yua. Well, he imagined Irina would be pretty useful for capturing a bear, but that was it. He looked over at Dominick again. "So, you want to go ahead and do the mission?" Somehow, him being there was making him impatient.

(OCC: sorry... I'm going to assume a bit of times past and that Nezumi and Lula are no longer in the office)

Dmytri made his way into the office and walked up to the receptionist desk.

"Dmytri Crush." The receptionist looked up at him with an intense gaze and was not shy at staring at his scars on his face. Her stare was irritating. He rolled his eyes and shoved his hands in his jacket pockets. She averted her attention to a binder on her desk. It said "New Arrivals" on it. She flipped past to the C divider tab.

"Ahhh, yes" She said as she trailed her fingers down the page. "You're sister is quite the character, Mr.Crush. I'm assuming you want to know where and whom you are rooming with?" She looked back up at him under her round little glasses that were far too small for her face. He smiled warmly at the mention of her sister. Not shy are we, little sister.

"It would be helpful, yes." He smiled. She proceeded into her desk and pulled out a small key and handed it to the young boy

"Here is your dorm key, keep it safe" She said "You're roommates are Leo Hardin and Ryder Levi. Your room number is 125 and it can be found upstairs on the north wing. If you have questions about anything, you know where this office is." She said it all quite fast and seemed disenchanted by the whole "new student" thing. He nodded as he walked out. Leo Hardin and Ryder Levi... Well then, time to find my room. He had a pretty good sense of direction. He walked through the foyer and pulled his phone out of his pocket. He flipped it open and started to text his sister.

Come get your bags, lazy. Room 125, North Wing.

He flipped his phone shut and threw it back in his pocket. He started his search.

It didnt take him long to find it. A few twist and turns and before he knew it, he was standing in front of a large oak door with the numbers 125 carved into it.

.

((i always laugh at your signature N o i r.... always. to the point of being creepy :D ))

Alyss's eyes followed Largo's pointing finger toward the peaceful-looking smaller garden off to the side of the courtyard. "Yeah, sure. You got the request slip?" She saw Largo smooth the small piece of paper in her hand, then led the way to the half-fenced garden. Sitting on the rim of the trickling fountain, Alyss looked back at the two other girls.

Dominick watched Vivi go off to wash her hands. "Yeah, I'm all for it. We can take a bear. And we're just supposed to 'safely remove' it, not kill it." He turned and began walking toward clock 201, a miniature cuckoo clock duct-taped to the top of a mirror with a frame that looked like it was made of straw. The clock read: "00:02:00" and the second hand was not moving at all. From his past experience, Dom knew that when they entered through the mirror with the request slip the hands on the clock would begin moving until the face said "00:00:00". By then, they had better be out of the mirror. Dominick checked the clock on his phone. They had until 9:02 to get this bear safely removed.

Largo stuck behind Alyss until they made it to the Garden where she placed herself on the ledge beside the girl. The stone was refreshingly cool although it clung to her thin jeans. She held out the slip and read off, "4 days, a pack of enchanted werewolves, a protection job and the possibility of a werewolf...The payoff is quite big for something that has to do with animals, but the time limit could be critical if there's really a werewolf involved. That would make this case more of a crime solving mystery and would take up a lot of our time. I suppose that's also why the risk level is set at seven."

Largo chewed on the inside of her cheek slightly, another bad habit. "It really is worth it I think..but I'm not sure if just the three of us can handle it. I'm not saying we're not strong enough, but it would require us to split our forces if we also have to protect the villagers while we're hunting wolves and solving a mystery... Anyways, I think we should have a little show and tell for now so that we all know what we've got in the arsenal." She smiled brightly for once, looking from Julia to Alyss. She was always interested in learning new things, and even more fired up by a challenge.

((Ugh, so sorry that I'm replying so late... quite a bit has passed it seems, and I didn't mean to get behind >~<))

"I wonder who this Largo girl is?" Lula asked as she trailed behind Nezumi. Largo would be their other room mate. Lula was happy that she could room with Nezumi, But what if Largo is scary and she wants to hurt me.... and take my bag?! She slid closer to Nezumi. Well, if worse comes to worse i can turn invisible and fly away.... But what about Nezumi? She can't turn invisible and fly away, so what if Largo goes after her instead!? I'm too weak to fight so I couldn't save her, and she'd get beaten up, and her bags taken!

((Lula's a bit paranoid xD ))

((So sloppy.. Hehe. Just trying to get the post out of the way.))

With confident strides, Ryder was quick to reach the room he was previously assigned. With no reservation about roommates, he simply walked straight in. It was pointless to avoid confrontation with the ones he would quarter with after all. No one would greet him within the barren room, not even a bag left behind by one of the others.

Taking the chance, while figuring that the emptiness was a sign that no one had arrived yet, he walked over and chose himself a bed. From the entrance it was the one furthest against the right wall. His stuff should be delivered to the academy via packages, which would hopefully come in soon. Otherwise he would have to spend what little money he currently had to buy the common necessities.

Laying on his back, his feet could not quite reach the end of the bed. It was a little more than he had expected out of beds within the dorms, but he could not complain. Concentrating on only the ceiling, he seemingly tuned out the world. He was right, within the rooms at this current time, his power felt weak. He would not have another's strong emotions influencing his behavior.

"It sounds like a good job, besides the challenge makes it much more interesting" Julia agreed as she nodded to herself. She dug her spoon on the pudding and finished what remained of it, God she loved sweets. She plopped down to the ground and looked at both of them, crossing her legs.

(occ: its no problem lol I was just making sure Dmytri kept going if he could. I didnt want to seem pushhy xD )

Nezumi walked coolly down the long corridor when she felt a buzz in her blazer pocket. She could hear Lula speaking but got distractdd by her phone.

"One second, girl." She said as she reached into her pocket. Maybe I am a bit of a halfwit... I cant multitask very well.

She went to reach for her phone when she suddenly felt scared. Now, Nezumi was not one to scare easily and was taken back by this sudden rush of fear. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked down at her feet. Everything went black and she shut her eyes. Her breathing quickened. Her heart was racing. She tried to calm herself down but it wouldnt stop. She grabbed her chest. Why do I feel like this.. She thought, I never feel like this. A gust of wind blew in from an open window and breezed past Nezumis face. Involuntarily, she grabbed the wind with her mind and started to make a small cyclone around her body. She crouched down andheld her hands on her head. Then it hit her, Lula. She had a feeling she wasnt going to talk her way into calming down considering from where she was sitting, her feeling was slowly getting worse. This fear, its going to suck me into a place even Dmytri wont be able to get me out. Whenever Nezumi had an involuntarily mood transfer, the mood would magnify. Happy and bad feelings alike.

"My apologies, Lula" She yelled quietly. If she didnt do this, the cyclone would get larger and out of control. She told herself "She's a nice girl, she wont laugh at you." She stood up slowly and clenched her fists to her sides. She took a deep breathe and opened her mouth.

"I know you care... I see it in the way that you stare.. Like their was trouble ahead and you knew it... You were just saving yourself from the ruin and I know you care..." She sang softly. Calm us down, she thought to herself, calm us down...

Dmytri reached into his pocket and checked his phone. He flipped it open while unlocking the door. Oh, he thought, not locked. He turned knob and swung open the door. Why hasnt she texted me back yet? He was concerned. He raised his phone in the air. Maybe we dont get service? He flipped his phone back and shoved in his pocket.

"Hey... Feeling better?" He looked at the blonde lying on the bed. He threw his bags into a vacant bed with an unknowing sense of force. They made a loud crash as they flew into the wall.

Ryder opened his eyes, the small surge in power easily noticed. It was weak, but the jump was somewhat surprising. The lack of power may have either been from the distance, or the simple level of emotion. But at that particular time the door was already opening. It was the guy from earlier, but now he could make out a few distinct features, like what seemed to be a scar. "So he was a roommate.. So my that worry was for naught.."

Despite the noise from the baggage clashing against the wall, Ryder remained still and relaxed. "The feeling of anxiety is dropping now that I am away from that troublesome crowd." Perhaps there was bad blood between the two of them already, as the small pulse of power remained. And since there was no one other to suspect for now.. "I would appreciate it if you keep the negative feelings out of the room.. It is annoying with such surges." Ryder watched him for a moment, half debating if he was wrong or not.

"No matter.. As it is only our second time meeting." His eyes glanced over towards the bags on the newly claimed bed, trying to be sure that it was in fact what he thought. "It seems you have recovered your luggage, did you also take the time to meet up with your sister?" It was possible that it was some odd trace of a sibling rivalry after all.

Pushing himself up into a sitting position, he readied for further conversation. If it cut short, then that is all. However, in the long run it was pointless to run from these idle moments when they were bound to converse. Some time in the future, he would probably use the emotions of his roommates as a weapon after all.

Dmytri looked a little puzzled. Negative feelings? He thought, surges? He went up to his bed and threw himself down. The only negative feeling I have right now is Nezumi, he thought, why isnt she texting me back.

"Sorry, guy" He chuckled "I'm only worried about my sister. I havent seen her yet. That's the only "negative" feeling I have right now." He grabbed his phone out of his pocketand checked it again. Nothing. He sighed and looked over at his new roommate.

"Dmytri by the way. Dmytri Crush."

(And so you don't have to go too long without Nezumi, I'll stop posting for a little while. ^^)

Worry, it made a bit of sense. Perhaps this guy was just a little protective, it would explain a couple of surges in power out of something like that. "I see, perhaps that would make sense." Really, for something as minor as worry to make him jump with awareness. The true sibling love was somewhat frightening it would seem.

"Ryder Levi, at your service." He spoke meaning to be half sarcastic, though he could only come across as serious. "As for the more annoying emotions." Once again he stuck out his arm, giving a slight wave as the only a few orbs appeared. "These are pretty much the gist of what I was talking about. And it is rather unpleasant when one simply appears without a second thought." It was a simple meditation technique that also told him the number of sources, but it also made a half decent way to explain... maybe.

"Perhaps it was merely because I was too relaxed that an emotion like worry surprised me." Falling back to his original laying position he returned to looking at the ceiling. "However, if I must say. It is annoying for someone to worry when they haven't even used all of their power to fix what they are worrying about."

"Good idea, you're right." Alyss liked the idea of getting to know them better, and what their powers were. "Well... I can use ice, water, mist, frost, all of the above. But I'm not that good," Alyss added. "I can also change the temperature of something." At this, she picked up a lili that was growing out of the cracks in the bricks near where Julia was sitting. Alyss lifted it and turned the pink petals to ice. Then she melted the ice, and water trickled from her hand to the floor. Then Alyss concentrated on cold, snow, frost, icicles, and winter... The fountain turned into solid ice for a few seconds, then Alyss released it and the chunks of ice melted back into water. Lastly, she waved her hands through the air, hoping she didn't look too weird, and wherever her hands went, mist surrounded them. Soon the entire garden was shrouded in mist. "So... those're my powers." Alyss concentrated on the warm sun and the mist disappeared as fast as it had come. "I can also use knives to fight, and I can see through mist, fog, and other sight-obscuring weather, even if I don't create it myself..."

"Cool" Julia said after Alyss' demonstration. She stretched out her hand and opened it "Mine is the opposite" Slowly, sparks of fire started to appear on her fingertips before thick and sparkling fire began to spread through her hand. It fluctuated a bit before rising slowly, describing a spiral and transforming itself into a little fire ball. When it vanished Julia just smiled "Pyrokinesis, the ability to manipulate fire and bend it to my will" She placed her hand back to the ground to give herself support "I can also paralyze anybody with my sight and get a glimpse of their darkest fears" She tilted her head to the side before adding " Ah I'm also a good shot and I prefer to use a gun, though I'm also good at almost anything that requires me to aim for a target like using a bow or so. Basically, I'm skilled at attacks which do not require me to get close to my opponent"

Lula felt relieved by Nezumi's singing. Although the wind did scare her a bit. She worked her way around that though, it must have been Nezumi's power... Like Lula's ability to turn invisible and fly. Does using her powers make her a weak after as it does me? She thought. Just in case, she grabbed Nezumi's hand. That always comforted Lula, so maybe it would comfort Nezumi as well? Lula hoped so. Whatever it was that happened to bring Nezumi to the ground, Lula didn't like it. She may be shy, but once she made friendships she would do anything for her friends. "Nezumi...?" She questioned, "Are we friends?"

((ooc: Okay, I seriously love you right now. Ellie Goulding is amazing. And "I Know You Care" is one of my favorite songs off of Halcyon.>.<))

"Wahh, that's so cool!" Alyss hadn't seen anyone else's powers before, and didn't know what types were possible and how much power any one person could have. She took her headphones off and placed them and the iPod on the floor before trying to do the same thing that Julia did but with snow. Alyss formed a tiny swirl of snowflakes in her hand. She then made it grow until it was the size of a large snowball, but it fell onto her hand, melting. Alyss tried to shake her hand off and not get her clothes wet with the melted snow, but the shaking set her off-balance and she toppled over backwards straight into the fountain. "Oww..." Alyss stood up and breathed out, drying her clothes and moving the water from herself back into the fountain. "S-sorry if I splashed you, Largo..." Alyss thought of her electronics frantically, and then saw the iTouch and headphones lying safely on the brick floor of the garden. She pocketed the iPod and replaced the headphones around her neck.

It was almost like a surreal painting coming together before her as she witnessed the duo of fire and ice elements splash across the garden. There was already a lot of promise just between the two of them and their abilities. Julia and Alyss, she could see these names being spoken together a lot in the future, at least after Alyss learned more control over her abilities. Largo watched her in amusement while she tried to do some kind of water manipulation up until she toppled backwards into the fountain.

A small wave of cold water leapt from the fountain towards Largo who closed her eyes and braced, just before contact. The water instantly soaked into the side of her sweater that now clung to to her skin like an icy hug. She chuckled a little, aware that Alyss was now also drenched. "Well then." She bemused. "I guess it's my turn to tell after that little show." She joked.

"My power is nothing quite so flashy," She smiled calmly, impressed by the pair's hidden abilities even if some were a tad unstable. "I have the ability to possess any living creature and bend it to my will accordingly. I could possess either of you and use your powers, but I wouldn't be familiar with them so I'd likely loose control of your elements if I wasn't also able to read memories.... Though that may not help me in some cases" Largo thought back to Alyss as she explained the fundamentals of her powers as clearly as she could. The water was slowly traveling across her sweater until it was more damped than soaked. She wrung out the end of it back into the fountain as she continued to explain.

"It's harder for me to possess very large creatures, so the time I can maintain my hold will be limited on those and also against people with uncannily strong willpower. I can levitate almost 20 feet which is helpful in avoiding combat because I'm not very good at-- But I'm pretty great at strategy formation.." She wondered if she should tell them her last ability. It would only be fair sense they'd revealed themselves to her but there was always the option that they'd monopolize this ability for their own gain. Largo glanced between them again, honest eyes, curious and assessing.. "and also..I can sacrifice my own stamina to rejuvenate that of someone else. As if they'd be starteing battle fresh, or anew." She went ahead and told them a little reluctantly.

The wind stopped and when Nezumi opened her eyes, she saw a small hand in front of her. She looked up at Lula holding a hand out. She smiled and grabbed her hand and got back to her feet. She was a bit thrown off by the question though. She just smiled and dusted herself off.

"Of course!" She exclaimed, "Why wouldnt we be? Let's go." She waved for the lil pinkette to follow her and they continued down the hallway. She looked over at Lula and did a voluntary mood detect. Calm again...

"Sorry about that whole thing, It's the downside to my "magic", she said as she put her hands up as to imply magic as a quotation. "I can sense peoples moods but sometimes its involuntary. When its involuntary, the mood transfers on to me but in a more powerful, more magnifyed sorta way. I feel what your feeling and the more I'm in that state the stronger it gets... I need to learn how to control it better... Same with the wind that you saw. I'm an Elemental Manipulator but only wind and fire. My brother is a prime Water Manipulator. The big guy you might have seen with me in the foyer? That's him, his names Dmytri. He's 20. He kinda followed me here, haha, but he was curious too. When I go into that state I cant control my manipulator abilities. It's usually only wind, thank god it's mostly only wind.... " She trailed off for abit and shoved her hands in her pockets and bowed her head. She looked back at the girl again quickly and smiled. "I'm talking waaaayyyy too much I'm sorry!" She said as she scratched her hair.

"Here check this out!" She said with a mischevious grin on her face. She pulled a lighter out of her pocket and flicked it. She brought her hand to the flame and swallowed it in her hand. She revealed her palm to Lula. The flame danced as it engulfed the flat of Nezumis hand. Nezumi than proceeded to separate the flame from her hand and turned the small flame into a fiery red glowing ball. She took the flame and danced it around Lula's head.

"Don't worry about your hair," She winked at Lula "It's in a controlled state."

------

Dmytri looked at Ryder alittle puzzled.

"I'm not that worried. More like just curious really. " He went quite for a second. "What do you mean an emotional surge? What is your power again?" He sat up at full attention and looked at Ryder. His curious worry now turned into a full worry. He wasn't sure about the rest of the student body but he knew his sister. He also knew his sister was prone to negative emotions and they could consume her in an instant.

"When did you feel this "minor annoyance" He asked quickly and with purpose.

(OCC: Haha I love Ellie Goulding, at first I thought she was just another dubstep artist and was surprised to find out shes isnt at all haha)
