Ok cool! IG42 IG42

I've officially re-opened the roles of Lexi & Vetra. Updated Interest check too. If people here know people or would like to take on one of the open roles are welcome to proceed as necessary.

Well we can't really do anything with no Cora & Vetra. Lexi would be the easiest work around in the group of open roles but that's just one out of four. Jaal is a role we can wait a bit on but two out of four roles atleast.

I've decided to review a few details and due to the risk of death being high. Interest check not pulling through yet. I'm going to move coras role into a out of the picture for the time being and same for other roles that are open.

If you folks are still in and ready then I'll move ahead with plans of a IC thread being up by tomorrow. Rping/game will start as soon as thread is up.

Sounds like a plan, any roles we fill later we can just say they took a while to get thawed out.

Ok cool as this post stands I see most of us already around and game.

I'm still game! Mass effect Rps don't come around often enough, so I'd like to get this going and keep it alive. With all this replaying of mass effect I've been doing lately, I'd like to try out each era, but still game here. Epiphany Epiphany

Sounds good. If you'd like she's yours for the taking or we can see what happens as we progress. Up to you

Heh, part of the reason I want to take on the Vetra role it to preserve the species representation. I’ve gotten my heart set on a Quarian character i’m developing for the Peebee role, so I figured if I brought a Turion to the table too, I can offset the double up I’m causing. Plus, Turians cool.

A good way to keep it balanced. It sounds like a good plan and yeah, Turians are pretty cool. I've been trying to craft a Turian OC myself... New territory for me, kinda, race wise anyway.

So, are we all starting on the Tempest with Ryder? Or will we meet up like in the games? Like my krogan being on Eos?

People can start off on the Tempest or on the nexus somewhere, however they desire to open for their OC. My guy will just be on the Tempest to start off. Your guy would be met on EOS though just as Peebees role would be as well.

He's welcome to the idea and vacancy. If he wanted a part timer kind of role then Lexi would work as she appears often but not quite as much as Cora. Well... Nevermind it kind evens out actually pending the playthrough choices. But anyways, if you want Dreawin Dreawin thats one idea for you that Cinereous Cinereous brought forward.

I've got a question for any of you guys who'd know.... It's a simple question really but since I always stick to my usual build/class I'm not completely certain. Is there really any handicaps to the classes such as soldier and full biotic? I've never actually gone 100% on one class area except for recently engineer. I usually stick to my infiltrator and recently am trying a vanguard build. But the older games seems like you could cost yourself if you don't have that tech side to help you out in say, like, ME1.

Class selection isn't really a big deal. I'd say it was the biggest deal in Mass Effect 1 since there were some important exploration skills, but even then you could usually just bring around a party member with whatever you're lacking. ME2 onward is just choose whatever, play what class you want. They're designed so you can hit most of the content with it regardless of class and party, except for that one Interrupt in the Omega DLC in which Engineers get to flex on everyone else.

In terms of like actual balance: Adepts and Engineers are pretty solid. I wouldn't say they're gimped at all, especially since they have access to the best crowd control/anti-personnel kits, respectively. A good combo build can easily solo Insanity difficulty content. As for Soldier, well, it's is boring in my opinion, but really they're only as bad as the player is at FPSs. In the OT, their big advantage is that they have lots of gun options which lets them get whatever they need for the situation, but then the Weight system came around and kind of shat on them a little, since that means their boring skills are the only things left to separate them from, say, a Sentinel or Engineer who doesn't care about their cooldowns.

I would say Soldier is definitely the weakest class, yeah. But that's only because their niche is gone. The other pures tend to be scary good at their job, so their niche is maintained. Outside combat, they're all basically equal outside of ME1 where you might need to bring Kaidan along if you can't hack or something.

ME1 for me was the biggest point of concern as I'm contemplating starting a fem-shep playthrough but wanted to do a new build, Soldier only cause I'd get gun options and have my sniper rifle handy but had hesitations due to the lacking of tech. I noticed that my Vanguard suffered a bit with electronics and sometimes other tech needing deals, but still managed to complete everything, though I never found a way to have a companion with tech ability to handle that stuff for me. Guess I was doing something wrong but ah well. Despite that enjoyed the vanguard role and using my shotgun most of the time. ME2 and onward I've noticed that it doesn't really matter which is nice but ME1 was where my main concern was at.

Engineer was alright, i liked it well enough, currently my ME3 carry through from ME1 & 2 is a engineer. Based off everything here, I'm leaning towards making a biotic fem-shep rather then a soldier. I guess I'll have to bring Kaiden more often or find out what I did wrong to not have a companion handle the hacking and stuff for my guy.

Thanks for the info!

I've always meant to play something other than soldier with Mass Effect, but the biotic/tech companions are so interesting and the soldier companions are so...not.

>_>
