SHIELD didn't know that before they approached him. Everyone else wanted something when SHIELD approached them and negotiated contracts for mutual benefit

Realistically he should want his name cleared, to help people, and training though he automatically assumed SHIELD can't help because no one has powers like him. It's a wrong assumption that they can't train him similar powers or not.

He does want his name cleared, but its not a big deal to him. He's lived almost a decade after he lost everything just fine. As for helping people, he helps who he thinks is right. William has helped criminals as well as civilians. That's very clear in his character sheet. As for the last one, William THINKS that. You could easily tell him they do have people like that. I mean he only thought they don't have anyone that can help him with his powers. Its not like he said it out loud. You are aware of that right?

How would they know if he never said it aloud? They can't offer him anything he doesn't ask for.

The agent came up to him, called a third rate vigilante, and then said work for us.

In what world is that a good offer? It might work on teenagers in similar situations but this is a grown ass man. SHIELD should know he's had run ins with the law in the past along with his background info. They should know he hasn't had the best control of his powers if they have been monitoring him properly before approwching him. They should know he wants his name cleared after everything that happened with that fight. They should know he wants to get stronger if they have been monitoring him training alone and hurting himself in the process. The scars should more than attest to that.

Above all, they should treat him with some respect. Its not a kid. Its an adult. Rathrt than blindside with an insult and a "join or nah".

Maybe sit down and talk with the guy. Tell him the pros and cons of being part of such a big organization of crimefighters and heroes. What responsibilities it entails and all that good jazz. Its not hard bruh. Im not gonna break character for the sake of joining SHIELD

How is it that a bunch of teenagers can ask what SHIELD can do for them and a grown man can't? How can he lack skills of negotiation? For all SHIELD knows and all it seems, he is content with his lifestyle if he didn't think to put SHIELD's massive network and resources at his finger tips. If he is as direct and blunt he should have been like "put some respect on my name" or if he is as mature as he is supposed to be he could have easily overlooked it and jumped right to business. SHIELD being overly sensitive to his situation is more something they would do to someone who is younger and someone who may lack the ability to "suck it up". It's not like I am asking you to make him say yes, not how it works anyway because even then he would still have negotiate a contract. I am asking for him to inquire about what SHIELD can do for him. To ask they can clear his name (something he seems fine with not having cleared as you previously said he has gone ten years without it being a problem) or if they can help him with his power. They can't read his mind for all they know he could want to do both on his own.

I feel like I've jerked you guys around for too long already so it's only really fair on the rest of you if I just take my leave because as it stands I'm struggling at the moment to offer the commitment needed to keep up with what's going on.
