Maddie shoved a fifty in the cabbie's face and ordered "Follow the cop." The cabbie complied.
In about 20 minutes they arrived at a dock. Maddie got out and the cabbie quickly drove away, as if afraid of the place. It was creepy.
It was pitch black out by now and the only lights were the orange fluorescent ones. Maddie heard the cop saying something frantically on a cell phone, and sensed that something was wrong for him too.
"No, man I'm in uniform! I shouldn't be out here like this....yeah, yeah, I'll keep an eye out. But you owe me big. Jones is gonna have your ass when he hears.....what? What do you mean, a hang up? Aw F***!" Evans kicked the dash of his car. "I don't have any backup, how the-" Evans was cut off by the sound of cars pulling up beside him. "Nevermind, they just showed up. You better hope he doesn't find out....yeah yeah." Evans ended the call. Maddie crept around a huge metal storage container to see who the men were and what was going on. As she peeked, she saw several guys with varying degrees of weaponry get out of 4 black SUVs. Maddie got goosebumps. This was definitely not good.
That was when the van showed up.
It was a white 12-passenger van, the kind churches and small school groups used for field trips. The back two doors opened, and Maddie saw two more guys with guns drag four girls out by their hair. The girls were screaming and crying, clearly terrified. All would have looked young and beautiful had it not been for the sheer terror on their faces. Maddie had to take a few deep breaths in order not to scream with them, the fear was so thick rolling off of them in waves.
"Why so much backup?" Evans asked the guys. "QUIET!" One of the men screamed at the girls, threatening them with a taser before shoving them in a metal storage container. A couple of the guys trained guns on them so they wouldn't get out. The man that had screamed turned back to Evans. "That A**hole in the mask has been causing us problems lately, and since this is one of our most lucrative investments we decided to be extra careful this time. We just wanted you to make sure the place was clear. Plus, since you're in uniform, no one asks questions. You can go now if you want." Loud Guy explained.
Evans nodded, looking slightly sick and getting into his cop car. As he did, one of the gunmen asked "Hey where's-" but was interrupted with a loud SLAM as a body hit the roof of Officer Evans' car. Maddie nearly screamed, as the car was right next to her storage container, but clapped a hand over her own mouth. She glanced over to see what Sable was going, immediately guilty for allowing her to come to such a dangerous place.
