Marauders in Mirstone

Nerissa Orta

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Vyltmheim,” Nerissa replied, her eyes lifting up to gaze at the new arrival. Big. Much larger than anyone she’d seen before. “I’m Nerissa Orta, Priestess of Water and Servant of Aquarius.”

She returned her attention to Scarlet when the female pirate began speaking about One Piece, nodding in response to Scarlet’s answer. Nerissa didn’t know who Spades was, but she agreed with him nonetheless. Gold D’Rodger’s treasure contained more than gems. Knowledge. Nerissa was certain of it. A man who traveled to the Grand Line and beyond, who obtained all the world had to offer, would surely have clues to the answers she sought. “I hope it has books. Lots of books.”

She touched the gem on her forehead as Scarlet contemplated One Piece. Scarlet was daring. Nerissa ascertained that much about the pirate at least. She liked jewels. She was also spontaneous. And honest. “It certainly does,” Nerissa answered thoughtfully as she regarded Scarlet. She wanted to prove others wrong?

Pondering the notion, Nerissa was caught off guard when Scarlet suddenly asked if she and Skorigg wanted to join her. She blinked in surprise. “You want me to?”

Nerissa wasn’t disinclined to join a pirate crew. She simply didn’t think there was any pirate-like quality about her that would make a pirate Captain want her aboard. Though, the thought of finding One Piece did appeal to her. And traveling with Scarlet did sound like a lot of fun. While Nerissa hesitated, another man approached. Another pirate…right? He was at a pirate’s meeting after all.

“Do you mean the ancient scriptures that Aquarius’s words are written in?” Nerissa asked the new person who joined them, her eyes brightening in uncontained excitement as she closed in on the man's personal space. Nerissa gazed up at his face searchingly. “One of them leads to One Piece? Truly?”

That settled it. There was a connection between One Piece, the void century, and Aquarius who existed during that mysterious time. “I must find it,” Nerissa declared. Then realizing how forward she was being, Nerissa blushed and took a step back. Taking a moment to compose herself, she turned to Scarlet, a serene smile on her face. “I’d love to join you Miss Scarlet. Let’s work together to find the Pirate King's treasure.”

Arlen Hakhassi

Arlen saw a flash of silver as one particular fellow drew a weapon from behind. Pirates. Of course they’d fight dirty. The Leviathan was about to respond, knock the weapon from his assailant’s hand, but he didn’t have to. The Mohawk woman lady did it for him. It was the same one who called for them to take the fight outside.

“You’re awfully nice aren’t you, Lady,” Arlen said as he shot her a winning smile. “Helping a stranger out when you don’t have to.”

The unammed thug who tried to extort money from him snarled and charged like a bull. Really? Weaving out of the way at the last second, Arlen tripped the larger man, while his long fingers entangled themselves in the thug’s greasy hair and shoved the man’s face to the ground. Positioning himself atop of the body, Arlen locked his legs in place, straddling the man so he couldn’t move.

“My name isn’t boy. It’s Arlen. Or you can call me Leviathan. Whichever you prefer.” Arlen said cheerily to the frigid woman. “And I’m not trying to impress. I’m just showing all the meat-heads out there that I won’t be bullied. Setting an example so no one in this pirate-filled town will take me for a weakling to extorted from.”

Despite the man's struggling, Arlen kept the thug's face pressed to the ground until oxygen deprivation, or rather carbon dioxide build up, caused the man to pass out. “It’s not that I particularly like fighting.”

A blatant lie. But the Mohawk lady didn’t know that. Or perhaps she did. He couldn’t exactly read her blank face. She was treating him like a kid. As if he didn’t know the first thing about a fight. That irritated him somewhat. Stepping over the body, Arlen smiled at her and winked. “Though, if you want to talk, I’ll finish this quickly. Never good to keep a lady waiting or so my mother told me.”

He drew his scimitar from his waist, spinning it playfully in his hands before letting the blade slide dangerously close to the man’s neck. He cast his eyes over to the crowd of thieves. “I’m feeling nice today. The winner has been determined. Don’t try this again; Otherwise, it’s off with all your heads.”

Kicking the man’s body to his crewmates, Arlen watched them leave before facing the crowd of on-lookers and raising his weapon to air. No one cheered. “Hm, tough crowd.” Sliding the weapon back to its holder at his waist, Arlen stuck his hands in the pocket of his shorts before glancing at the Mohawk lady. “I never did learn your name, Lady.”

Wantanabe Hotaka Wasabi, Stacy Beauregard, Arklin Jakar and Akahana Jakar

The little tugboat was quickly picking up pace. Arklin had seen the practically negligible Cormorant as it rowed across the relatively calm waters and Akahana had picked up the fliers they held as the little boat meandered past. There was no doubt about it. The rice hat on his head was so exaggerated and the man was nearly as tall as Akahana herself despite being seated; the individual inside was Watanabe Hotaka Wasabi.

9 million beli

“That’d keep us afloat for longer than the last few we’ve collected,” Arklin commented as he increased speed even further, the water ruffling at the faster movements now driving it over the calming ripples. Water spread out as waves formed, no doubt rocking the Cormorant Wasabi sat in as the tugboat crew closer and closer.

Waves lapped against the looming cook’s Cormorant as the tugboat closed in from behind. Wasabi stole a glance over his shoulder to judge their distance again. A larger ripple flowed through the water, causing his little boat to rise and fall. That was his cue. One… two… three… four… Another big wave pushed the Cormorant forward a bit. Wasabi took one smooth paddle stroke across the right side of the boat and began counting again.

It was an elaborate calculation. First he had to judge the speed of the vessel between two big ripples, continuing to adjust this idea with the speed and direction of the wind. Then he had to count the time between each ripple to judge the remaining distance between them. All this to determine how often to row.

Wasabi had no intention of getting caught, but wanted whoever was chasing him to stay hot on his trail. If he rowed too slowly, they would catch him on the water and things would get hairy. Rowing too quickly would get him to the island ahead too fast and deter his assailants from continuing the pursuit, as it’d be too easy for him to disappear. Of course, Wasabi hadn’t the slightest clue that the island had become infested with pirates of late. Neither could he have guessed who the people in the tugboat were.

As Wasabi’s small vessel grew closer to the island and the port came into view, Arklin felt a hand on his shoulder as his sister pointed ahead. “Look. We should leave, Ark. We should leave while we can.” Her finger pointed to the line of ships, most hailing pirate flags. No doubt a large number of individuals had faces in their stack of posters, but that didn’t matter to either of the siblings.

Arklin sighed. “We’ll have to find him later then. That bounty’s definitely worth something.”

Their tugboat slowed in its pursuit, eventually ceasing to move the water at all and then it turned around entirely, seeming to give up on its target.

One… two… three? Hmm? Wasabi looked over his shoulder to see what was wrong. Something had changed in the pattern of ripples. Perhaps they were being muffled by counter-ripples from the shore? To his dismay, he seemed to be pulling away from the tugboat. Did I go too fast? I didn’t think they were that far away. Turning and rising to his feet as the Cormorant continued toward the port, Wasabi eyed down the receding vessel.

The Cormorant approached the docks with Wasabi standing at the center with his back turned to the shore. Due to the number of boats and docks in the water, ripples tore about the surface of the water in strange directions, causing the tiny boat to jostle quite noticeably. However, Wasabi seemingly had no trouble remaining standing.

As the massive pirate vessels began to poke into Wasabi’s peripheral, he turned back to the port. The miniature boat glided slowly alongside a free dock. As the boat connected with the docks, Wasabi stepped smoothly off, throwing a rope around a hold on the dock as he did so.

The city was bustling with all sorts of life. The noise was disturbing, but hardly unexpected. A coughing sound caught Wasabi’s attention above the normal hustle, drawing his attention to a black girl. Or rather, it seemed she was just covered in soot. Reaching into a small sack that was slung to his back, Wasabi pulled out a clean cloth and approached the girl, saying, “A clean towel might help.”

The girl chuckled a bit, spraying soot into the air as she breathed. Reaching out, she accepted the cloth and nodded a brief thanks before splashing water onto her face from the sea and then wiping her face clean with the cloth. “Yes, it certainly did,” she remarked. “You’d think that idiot on the ship would’ve thought to offer one… Thanks, by the way.”

She glanced down at the cloth, now black, and tried to decide whether it was something she ought to return or keep. She really wasn’t sure.

“I think you’ll need that more than I do,” said Wasabi, noticing the girl’s dilemma. Cloths were a valuable commodity for a cook, but a soot covered cloth didn’t work well for washing the dishes.

“Alright. Thanks!” She slipped the cloth into her back pocket, letting part of it hang out as she was sure she would find some use for it sooner or later. Standing up, she glanced once more at the giant of a man standing in front of her. “You heading anywhere in particular?”

Wasabi shook his head, “I’m nothing more than a humble wanderer.”

The woman snickered subtly. “Well, you picked a hell of a place to wander to,” she commented. “I’ve never seen so many idiots in one place before and I like to think I’ve seen a lot.” Her eyes glanced out to the city before she looked behind her at a fairly large ship.

“I have to head back on deck, though,” she gestured to the ship behind her. “Make sure that silly cook doesn’t break anything else. Thanks again for the towel and good luck with… well… whatever.”

“Huh? If I broke something, I’ll gladly pay for the repairs,” responded Wasabi in a dumbfounded manner.

Turning around, the woman gave him an incredulous stare. “What gave you the impression you broke something? There’s this cook who thinks he’s all that and he blew up a stove doing God knows what.”

“You said silly cook… It’s true that I’m a cook, and while I don’t think I’m silly, I think I’d remember blowing up a stove. What bothers me is how you found out I was a cook in the first place,” responded Wasabi.

“Now you truly are being a silly cook,” the woman commented. “I’m not talking about you and I didn’t know you were a cook until you said something about it yourself. There’s this other cook who blew up the stove on his captain’s ship and I got asked to fix it. Now I’ve gotta wait for the captain to get back so I can get paid for it.” She paused, trying to gauge Wasabi to achieve some kind of certainty that he understood what she was talking about this time.

“I see,” responded Wasabi eerily, “there’s another cook. I wonder where he trained. The term flammin’ hot is not meant to be taken literally. Any dish that could endanger the lives of the customers should be done with extreme care. Does he not know this?”

The woman cocked her head to the side and raised her eyebrows, shrugging in tandem with the motion. “I dunno… but I wouldn’t stop you if you wanted to come remind him.”

Looking back to the port for a moment, Wasabi pondered what he should do. He felt it was his responsibility to inform the cook, yet he didn’t want to take too much time away from his mission. Figuring it wouldn’t take that long Wasabi decided to do what the mechanic had suggested. With a nod, he responded, “Would you mind showing me the way?”

“Of course! I’m Stacy, by the way,” she introduced herself before she turned around and led him onto the Sky Dragon, a subtle smirk creeping onto her face once it was no longer visible. ‘I certainly hope this is as entertaining as I think it’s going to be…’

Mal

At the
Sea Dragon

And there it was! Mal stood on the, a joyful grin spread across his face. The Sea Dragon! He could barely contain his excitement. The stories he'd read about all his life were becoming real right before his eyes! He'd already met pirates, not to mention become a pirate himself! And now his ship! Well, not his; it was his captain's. Kanji was a tad over the top, the teenager supposed, but he seemed like a good enough guy to work for.

char-edward2.jpg
Movement on the deck caught his golden eye. His brow furrowed. Were there others shipmates of his aboard already? Or was it saboteurs, trying to stop the Sea Dragon from even leaving Mirstone?! The thought angered him, and with a shout he sprinted up the gangplank. But when he got onboard himself, he skidded to a halt, his coattails wooshing past at the sudden stop of momentum. It was some tall guy, polishing his shoes. Mal's brow furrowed.

"They're just gonna get dirty again, you know."

@Exanis

Syrin Insinu

Just as Syrin was about to finally calm down while he nearly finished cleaning his shoes as much as he could given the tools he had on hand, he heard someone talk, apparently at him. Their statement, although true, pushed Syrin's already seething rage over the edge. But, even he knew not to attack someone on their ship, so he supposed he could simply spit verbal venom at them. Glaring over at Mal with all the anger and hatred he could muster at that moment, he hissed back a response. "Then I'll just spend my time cleaning them again instead of humoring fools like you who decide that, hey, let's walk to a complete stranger and state the obvious!" With a disdainful snort, he applied the finishing touches to his shoes and got up, planning on finding Stacy so he could be in the presence of someone that didn't make him want to commit murder.

With a final parting death glare at Mal, he walked past him to get to Stacy, only to stop as he saw her coming on board with quite the tall stranger in tow. His anger finally abating as quickly as it came, he raised an eyebrow in Stacy's direction. Walking closer, he greeted the two. "Well, it seems you too have found a new... Friend." As he says 'friend' he glances back distastefully at where he left Mal.

Sora Z Lachance

"A grand tour it is, she's a great boat beautiful and strong. She survived a rather bad storm before coming, had most of the old crew quaking in their boots by the middle of it but she carried on no sweat." Sora said with a grin the pride in his ship very evident. "Now then fo-" Before he could finish his sentence there was someone yelling up at him. Walking over to the edge of the ship he looked down at the woman and blinked a bit. He didn't really care for how she offered to join his crew namely because she didn't even introduce herself. Suuure she may be able to cook but it would be nice to say ones name otherwise he would be stuck calling the girl cook till he got a name. And that's exactly what he was going to do.

With Albi snuggled up to his neck and cheek he smirked a bit as he placed his elbow on the side of the ship. "Well miss cook, despite that odd way to ask to join. You so happen to be in luck." He hummed before looking at Cait. Giving her a nod in acknowledgement of her question as his eyes went back to Ren. Just as he was about to speak again there was a loud bang and he moved back a bit as his ship shook from the hit of the canon. "What in the blazes!?" he shouted in initial shock as Albi let out a loud yelp of surprise.

Once he got his footing back he looked and instantly saw the neighboring vessel which had the smoke come up from the cannons showing it was evidently the one that fired the cannon. "What in the ships right hell was that for??" He quickly moved his eyes away from that ship and to his to check for the damage. When he saw them.....his expression didn't change, but the aura around him, that was another matter. His average friendly and laid back presence was temporarily gone as a silent rage took over. Sure the damages could have been far worse. like the mast could have been hit and broken off or the rutter could have been shot off. But having a whole in his hull.....that...that is not a good way to start his journey off. Taking a deep breath he simply looked at the other ship and smiled, as the aura leaped off of him like a fire. "Yes we need a shipwright, but unless one of you have one on a den mushi we are going to be making scarp repairs or it's going to cost me even more..." He said in a chilly calm voice as he strolled to the port side.

Once he got to the railing of the ship he grabbed it and jumped off landing gracefully next to Ren. Not looking at her for a moment he kept his smile as he looked at the ship where he saw two men talking though he couldn't make out what they were saying. "Sora Z. Lachance, Captain of the Lucky Nova. You can be the cook for my crew, go ahead and have a look around...don't burn the ship, steal anything or put a hole in it. I would give us more time for introduction but I really need to have a chat with the ass that shot at me." He said as he started to walk off to the ship that shot at him while Albi climbed off of him and looked up at Ren, it's nose twitching in curiosity.

Sora didn't even wait before he climbed up the ship that shot at him. Once he did he sat on the rail with his legs on either side of him while he smiled. "So who do I have to thank for the hole in my ship as well as the money you evidently plan to give me for the damage to her? Hm?" He asked calmly as he looked at the two still smiling as if he was happy, though he was seething.

Kibto (Obito) Intinal

"Tch I'll go where I want to go. If I want to follow what's your short face I will or won't." Kibto growled as he crossed his arms. Looking over his shoulder he heard some shouting and such over in the distance but he couldn't see a reason to care in the least about it. So instead he decided to follow the short blond man who he was debating if he should name the guy shorty or blondy...or a combination of the two. Either way he didn't really care as he climbed onto a house. Suuure he could take the road, but he would likely get the urge to stab a random go byer, so instead he would go this way to save him the trouble of having to run into the marines or whoever were on this island. 'Where the hell did I end up this time? Should write this shit on my arm or something its getting annoying waking up and having zero clue where I am'

Getting lost in this thought for a while he shook his head as it turns out he had zoned out for a moment and was just standing on a roof staring at a bird that was starring right back at him. "I want a bird." he randomly said before he burst out into a run straight for the port. Not really caring who he distrurbed as he ran and jumped from building to building he kept his eyes on the port with a bored look. 'Don't cause blood to run, drop and drip. Need to get out of here before any of that, not far enough from the grandline nor do I have any fucking crew worth my time to risk the grandline again. Don't stab shot or choke anyone. Even that annoying man shouting about his goods.' "I DON"T CARE ABOUT YOUR FRUIT!" Kibto rather suddenly shouted when he came to a stop and glared death at the poor merchant who looked at the boy confused.

After this sudden outburst Kibto was on his way again now muttering reminders under his breath not to cut, stab or do anything to anyone on his way to the docks. Soon the last house came and without any hesitation Kibto jumped off the roof and just as he landed he rolled once landing right on his feet in a kneeling position right behind three people he didn't know. "Who the fuck? Are you ladies and gents on the Dragon of the Sea or whatever with shorty and me." He spat in a rather rude tone while he pointed at himself as well as Mal.

Weston Lowell

NPC Notes

Location: The Docks

Age: 23

Gender: Male

A loud voice soon commanded his attention as Weston felt sweat dripping down his brow in fear of what he would have to do now that he’d pretty much plastered his face on wanted posters in the minds of several probably terrifying individuals. Almost as soon as he heard him, he saw him and Weston found himself trying to push himself backwards even further but the railing behind him meant that he was already stuck in a corner as much as he could be.

Though he’d acted tough and brave at earlier threats, the whole situation had been different. The man’s threat earlier had clearly been false and based upon a lie that Weston saw through. This man though - the one standing in front of him - was angry and it was obvious.

“Uhm… is that what the button did?” Weston sighed. He knew he wouldn’t manage to pull off an act of feigning innocence, but admitting he did it just seemed so wrong on so many essential levels. He couldn’t bring himself to
actually say it despite all fear flowing through him. “As for why you shouldn’t drown me, that’s easy. Captain Shade would send Yumi to find me. And then she’d find you. And that’s just not a good idea there… trust me on that one.”

A small smirk crept onto his face as he realized he could say that with the utmost confidence.

Another voice joined in and Weston very nearly rolled his eyes. A hand reached into his pocket as he still remained leaning against the railing. He pulled out the ruby he’d stolen from Charybdis and held it up for Sora to see.
“This is all I’ve got.” His eyes glanced towards Elijah. “He should help pay though too. I wouldn’t have pressed the button if it hadn’t been lying around. Who has buttons on a ship in the first place!?”

Abigail Livingston

NPC Notes

Location: The Market

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Abigail found herself lost for a moment as she considered Kyoko’s words. True, it wasn’t any of Kyoko’s business and she really didn’t want to share it because she wasn’t sure if anyone would want to stay with her if they knew who was chasing her. It really was a scary situation.

Her entire body seemed to flinch when it seemed as though Kyoko meant to leave her all alone and her head turned behind her, almost as though she expected to see her pursuer just waiting for her to be all alone again.
“No! You can’t just leave!” Abigail cried it out in a manner that was very uncharacteristic of their encounter so far. Can I come with you? Where are you going?” Abigail couldn’t contain the barrage of questions that followed. “What’s calamari?”

She smiled simply, hoping that her new friend wouldn’t mind a little extra company. Looking up, she noticed that Kyoko seemed to be carrying a lot of bags. Abigail extended her hand and offered,
“I could carry one of those for you if you wanted. I carry things all the time.” She said it so casually. Abigail was really trying hard to make a friend and it was clear that she wanted to be able to stay with this one at least for a little while.

Former Captain McKlinnen

As the group seemed to leave and the boy's mouth continued to run Ferra scanned the crowd cautiously, giving it a good handful of seconds before deciding that any threats were likely to have given up at this point. Now assured that she was in the clear, Ferra returned her sabre to it's sheath and turned to eye up the boy. He was strong, and as she ascertained, knew how to fight. But strength and the ability to beat down a handful of combatants didn't do any good if you stood alone in the world without anything as a safeguard to deter threats.

For herself, it was her garb, her reputation as a former Marine, and for the few that knew, a former Marine Captain. While it likely drew the ire of many pirates, it was a landmark of her skill, and because she also had a tendency to keep her head low, the result was that she oft managed to stay clear of those wishing to kill her, whether she'd beaten down their friends or otherwise. This boy, Arlen, had none of that. He didn't have a reputation here, or at least hadn't. What he'd likely just earned himself was a target on his back for being a loud mouthed and arrogant newcomer looking to carve a niche of his own. People wouldn't like that. They never did.

"Boy, I think you fail to see the fine differences in the ability to fight effectively and the ability to survive capably. That no longer matters, it seems, as you've already put yourself in a bad spot in this town. You've presented yourself as a challenger, there will be many, more powerful than I as well, that will want to see the new potential threat removed. That is how this world of murderers and marauders operates." as Ferra spoke she thought about how the crowd was likely going to continue drawing attention, and the last thing she needed was for any of the bold and brash to come lay a challenge immediately. That and as much as it irritated her to admit it, this boy reminded her of herself at his age. Eager, wanting to prove himself. It was, after all, how she'd achieved her former position. "That all said, you've promise, boy. I have a contract with a Captain, a job with him. Should it interest you, he is looking to build a crew. It would offer protection, you would no longer be a lone target, as well as offer a chance to better yourself. Your answer means little either way to myself boy, but I'd hate to see potential gutted in the streets."

With that Ferra began to march away down the street, eager to leave the attention grabbing crowd behind her as she went back to musing over the presence of the Captain and Commander from earlier. There was bound to be some trouble, she could just tell.

Skorrigg the Bloodied

Skorrigg couldn't help but grin broadly at the responses from those before him. The red haired woman was certainly friendly, and in seconds was offering what seemed to be a long term contract on her ship. That was certainly something he wouldn't mind at all, especially given his want to eventually leave Mirstone as well. It was a nice enough town, but he wanted to continue to travel, seeing the world and learning new things. This was a perfect opportunity.

Shifting his attention from the captain to the woman next to her Skorrigg beamed and bowed his head in the presence of a idealogical leader, "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Priestess Nerissa. I must admit, I would love to hold discourse of your Lord Aquarius sometime in the future, as I've not heard of him before, and I am ever the nosy one for new information I fear."

As he spoke yet another newcomer arrived, speaking of texts and tablets and ancient languages. To say that the large man was excited would have been a large understatement, as to the truth was that he was absolutely ecstatic at the idea of three scholars joining together. In fact it was quite a genius idea, and she would love to learn more about their goals.

"Come to think of it, why not we all come together, no? Just as Priestess Nerissa has stated, we can work together to discern the location of the One Piece, and in it I find myself hoping for a veritable abundance of knowledge to be found along the way. Secrets of the world, new locations never found before. I must say this has got me ten shades of terribly enthused." Skorrigg boomed as he grinned quite broadly beneath his beard, "Well then, Captain, I would assume the wisest action would be to learn which direction to point ourselves in, and commence our grand adventure. I must say I am very grateful for the opportunity."

Norman Newman & Watanabe Wasabi

Norman finally finished cleaning the kitchen a short while after Ship Lady had left. As he put away the broom and washcloths he realized his clothing had been pretty much entirely blackened by soot. He giggled to himself as he realized he looked like a ninja stereotype in all black with just his eyes showing.

He tried dusting himself off a few types but failed to remove any of it. When he realized succeeding would redirty the kitchen he gave silent thanks that it hadn't come off. He blinked a few times as he realized he was alone. Where had Ship Lady and Mister Grump went? He shrugged and decided checking the deck was probably the best choice.

He began whistling, the sound coming out in a couple tines rather than just one. That was one part of his..... condition that he enjoyed. He whistled and tromped up the stairs in a jubilant manner. As he reached the deck he found that there were two new people aside from Ship Lady and Mister Grump. "Woaaah!."

He looked back and forth between everyone excitedly. "You two brought friends! Don't worry, I won't stab them! I mean... if they don't want that of course." He basically hopped his way over to the man near Ship Lady. "So what are you here for friend? Are you joining Kenji's crew, or are you just lending a hand like these two?"

"I'm just a humble wanderer that came to investigate an exploding stove... you wouldn't happen to know anything about it, would you?" asked Wasabi curiously.

Norman raised his eyebrows in surprise. "You too? But Ship Lady here already fixed it. Sure it exploded when I was using it. But it probably wasn't my fault..... maybe. I was just using a hand torch on a Cremé Brulee and there was a hissing sound from the stove. Then BOOM!" He made a exploding gesture with his hands.

"You used a blow torch next to a gas stove, didn't you?" asked Wasabi, "I much prefer more traditional methods of cooking. You can avoid accidents like that then."

Norman perked up when the new guy talked of cooking as well. "You're a chef toooo?! FINALLY someone else! My name's Norman Newman! Tell me, what traditional methods do you use to make Cremé Brulee?!" Norman bounced up and down on the balls of his feet, clearly excited by the new possible friend!

Unfortunately his new friend didn't get the chance to answer, nor did Norman get to talk to the other new guy who was almost as short as him. At least, not before some yelling, swearing weirdo hopped on the ship! Norman seemed to have a small dagger in his hand almost instantly, having swiped it from somewhere under all the black sootiness that was his clothing. "Are you friend or foe?! Please say foe, I reeeeeeealy want to stab someone!" Norman said with pleading eyes.

KYOKO RINNE

Kyoko stopped in her tracks as soon as she heard Abby cried out, "No! You can't just leave!" A image flashed in Kyo's eyes that she remembered so much yet not really, but this did confirmed one of Kyoko's hunches that she trusted her and even then, she felt a little guilty for just wanting to leave her. She then added questions, wanting to know where Kyo was going and that she wanted to help her out even if it was just to avoid her anymore confrontation, she thought to herself thinking that it would be a shame to pass a helping hand and some company, it wouldn't hurt to spend some free time a bit before going home.

, "Well... It wouldn't hurt to have someone tag along and we do have a good bond starting to form-if you could call it a formal introduction, that said." Though Kyoko agreed to this arrangement, where to play for time was just the issue- Kyo hadn't explored very much of the town, mostly because of her "not in the mood"- she thought about taking Abby to her workplace but she remembered that it was being used for the bosses daughter's wedding and he didn't want any employees to come to work that day. Another problem was the food situation, Abigail ought to be starving but Kyoko only bought for herself, she dug through her brain and looked for another recipe to make for her. , "Onigiri!-", she said to herself , "-simple and fairly cheap, that oughta do."

Kyo handed one of bags to Abby and turned towards the market district
, "Here. You can carry that in the meantime, I've already decided what to get and I should've ask you this before: You hungry? If you are, don't worry. I've got the recipe already memorized with a little something special. Come on, I'll answer your questions along the way." Kyoko started walking immediately back to the marketplace and made a list of what to buy, all memorized in her head- though she imagined an event involving cooking- ,"Now that would be something..."

Seth almost shitted himself when he heard the crewmate mention Keya. Fair enough she took the guy out, but she was not supposed to be here. Seth had no idea how dangerous this situation could become. For all he knew the big guy had a bounty over 50 million beli. He already cared about this dwarflady, but he could not afford to protect her as well. Another wild roar of the big guy snapped Seth out of his brooding. Fortunately non of the other crew members had noticed Keya. They all looked at their captain with horrified looks. Seth laughed, their faces were priceless. Who cared about some collateral damage. This was going to be amazingly funny.

For a moment, time seemed to slow down. Like the calm before the storm. The big captain seemed to be radiating a primal kind of rage. As in slow motion his hand went out to the nearest pirate. Seth waited for the impact to come. Time sped up again. Smack! You almost heard the jaw bones break. The unfortunate man was send flying. Overcome with joy Seth clapped in his hand like a small child. The captain was mowing his arms around him, taking out his crew, one by one, while Seth was laughing hysterically.

Keya looked up to Seth and grinned. She waited to see if he was going to start a bar fight with these people, kind of wanting to join in. She grinned and giggled eagerly when he did, in fact, go along with the idea of a fight. "Woohoo!" She cheered, picking up a chair and smashing it into the nearest pirate. The guy gave a clear 'wtf' look before crumpling to the floor. Between her chair smashing and Seth laughing like a maniac while dodging the pirate captain all hell broke loose. And she enjoyed it. She was laughing right there alongside him.

She darted along the floor punching pirates left and right in the shin and outright flipping several others over. This went unnoticed for quite some time, and in fact caused a fight to break out among them as they had thought it was their buddy kicking them. The bar was complete and utter chaos, and Keya was enjoying it entirely. It was honestly a good thing she met Seth at this point for sure, she was having so much fun! "Distract the big guy and I can hold him down!" She shouted to Seth. Though at this point they'd noticed her, and were trying to step on her. Though that wasn't exactly smart, as all that did was land them on their butts with her receiving minor injuries at best.

Meanwhile pirates that were not lucky enough to be toppled by Keya were flying around. Smacked with brute force by their own captain. Seth was hopping from place to place to avoid getting hit by the flying bodies. Over the sound of breaking cups and bones he heard Keya scream something about distracting the big guy. It was not part of his initial plan, but what the heck, it was even better.

He jumped to a bar stool which was out of reach for flying bodies and hands of bearlike captains. He touched for his belt. He wouldn't need to spill any poison on being annoying, it was his second nature, or rather his first. He put a dart in his blowgun and waited patiently. The big guy was moving around a lot, but no target was too difficult for Sétanta Igramo'el. Pffft! Between the angry eyes of the big guy a pink plume sprouted, it's tip pierced through the point of his nose. It got his attention, alright. His bulky hands dropped one of his mates to the ground with a big thud. He roared and beat his hands against his chest, gorilla style. The game was on. "I am not sure about the humanity of your father, but that attitude explains your mother's" Seth taunted, though he knew the man was so wild that he would probably not understand a word of it. Still, the message wasn't really necessary. The man sprung towards Seth and lashed out. Seth could barely jump away in time. "Hey Keya, whatever you are planning, do it quickly. This guy has gone bananas!"

Keya waited patiently and eagerly with a wide grin on her face as she dodged the feet that were constantly trying to squish her. Didn't they know they could sell her and make a ton of money? Apparently not. Either that or crushing her would bring them more satisfaction than money. Though, one would figure they would of gotten the hint that it wouldn't work...eventually. Probably not, these guys were very dumb! Soon though, she missed how, Seth had distracted the big guy. At that point she punched the guy that was stepping on her in the shin and ran and leaped onto the back of the big guy. Now, see, she figured if she punched him in the neck it'd knock him out. Nope. It only pissed the steroid induced maniac off more. Soon she was being crushed in his hand with surprising strength that she couldn't break out of due to her movement being restricted. Of course, once she was captured the man immediately moved to grab Seth by the throat and hoist him up to his face. He breathed heavily, saying nothing, simply looking between them both with a maniacal grin.

She had no idea what the guy planned on doing, but currently he was slowly crushing the life out of her. "Help..." She wheezed, trying to break free. Hopefully Seth had a plan, otherwise they were both dead.

Well, so much for Keya's big plan, Seth thought. Problem was he didn't exactly have a plan B. The situation had become quite difficult. Seth Panicked. What should I do? How can I get us out of here? What if- Gorillas eat bananas! Not now brain! He needed a way out of this situation or they would discover that gorilla eat more than just bananas. There was a way ... but Seth had only used it once before and back then it had some disastrous effects. He didn't have that much vials with him, so losing one was quite a lot. The captain was breathing heavily in Seth's face. A disgusting gust of alcohol and something that smelled most like rotten kelp entered his nostrils. Seth almost threw up. "Keya, hold your breath! Now!" Slowly his hands went to the vial with egg extract of the blue feathered flamingo. He took one last deep breath. "Bombardier Beetle!"

Once again time seemed to slow down as the vial fell down. It shattered upon impact. Everybody in the room turned their head towards the shards, shocked by the sound. Then they went on with their petty fights. The pirate captain roared to the bottle. As if the bottle was afraid it started excrete a blue fume. Seth hoped Keya had followed his advice. The vapor reached it's first victim, a cabin boy. He dropped the shattered bottle he was holding and grabbed the nearest person, an old man with a big scar on his face. He pushed two steps to the front and two steps back. First clumsily, but that changed when the old man was hit with the blue vapor as well and followed the boys lead.

The big pirate was distracted by his crew mates who started partnering. He roared once more. His eyes in absolute confusion. He bellowed as Seth pierced his hands. Both hand were open and Seth and Keya fell to the ground. Seth had to get away from the captain before he became his partner. He was almost out of breath to. His throat started aching, but he really wanted to enjoy his last sights of the pub. The captain was finally hit as well and had found a partner. Step to the front, step back, crossing the partners legs, stepping outside. The whole crew was doing the tango. The sight was great. All mean looking, heavily wounded criminals were dancing with their partners. Seth really wished he could have stayed for the big finally with a lean and a kiss, but his eyes were getting blurry. He grabbed Keya from the floor and faltered towards the exit.

Just in time they stumbled outside. There was no time for breathing though, they both burst out laughing. People in the street were cautiously watching the strangers shriek with laughter, crawling on the ground. The boisterous sound echoed over the streets. Then a waterfall of words slipped Seth's mouth. It must have been a full minute before the words became remotely understandable: "That is what I call fun! Did you see the look on the guys face! First he was like 'I am King Kong, king of the jungle' and then he was like' 'King Kong would like to wear a red dress and a rose in his hair.' Priceless!" Then he suddenly realized something. "I'm sorry. I completely lost count of my victims. You know what? Let's drop the whole race thingy. Not that I couldn't win ... but I am a little short on toxins, so it would be nice if we made a pitstop at the inn where I am staying. In the mean time we can discuss how we plan on taking down the Bell Tower. Not like an actual plan, I don't do those. Just something slightly more structured than what we just pulled of. Let's give this town the spectacle they so rightfully deserve!" With that said, he started walking towards the inn. Or was it the other way? Who cared, Team Death-from-below was on the move again!

(@Nobody, we are not done with the collab and for our plans we can't have interference by others. Sorry for that and sorry for the wait)

Scarlet could only nod as a man walked up, seeking to confirm that she was looking for the One Piece. In fact, she even rolled her eyes a bit at the silliness of asking such a thing. She had just said it out loud more times than she could count and everyone at the meeting was likely looking for the One Piece. Scarlet could think of no other reason why a person would be there in the first place.

“Pone - glyphs?” She repeated the word in confusion, separating each syllable. She really had no idea what he was talking about, but when he said there was one that led straight to the One Piece, her first thought was something similar to a compass.

Blinking twice, she turned to face Nerissa who seemed to know what Kaito was talking about although the priestess’s words didn’t make things any more clear to Scarlet. However, it also seemed to convince Nerissa to join her. Scarlet returned the priestess’s smile and gave a very firm and excited nod in reply.
“Good! I’m glad!” Her head swiftly turned to Kaito as she added, “I have absolutely no idea where to find these glyph things for you to read, but you can come too if you want to. The more the merrier!”

Another smile only added to her happiness at her growing crew. Skorrigg called her “Captain”. It wasn’t a title she was used to, but it delighted her nonetheless.
“Well, right now I think we’re going to stick around for a few more days and see if this map turns up,” she commented. “If we don’t find nothin’, then we’ll have to do it the old fashioned way and I’m fine with that. There’s a map lady on the ship now, actually. Maybe she can help us make our own map.” A few things were clear about the way that she spoke. Firstly, Scarlet was very excited. Secondly, she didn’t really seem to have a care in the world about how she got to the treasure so long as she actually got there in the end.

“For now, though, I can show you the ship?” She offered to each of them. “And you can meet Jasper and Cletus and Map Lady… they should all be there!”

Her eyes glanced to the sky for a moment. The sun was down completely by now as the night slowly settled in. She imagined now would be a good time to head back to the ship regardless of whether people wanted to or not simply because while she couldn’t speak for them, she definitely needed her beauty sleep. With that in mind, Scarlet started walking without waiting for an answer.

She glanced at her hand as she walked, counting the names of her crew members so far.
‘Jasper… Cletus… Map Lady… Nerissa… Skorrigg… Glyph Guy…’ A thought popped into her head then.

“I’m going to need to have Jasper get more food in the morning. I don’t think we have enough…”

Watanabe Hotaka Wasabi

Wasabi loomed as an unmoving shadow during the commotion. Norman's eagerness to utilize a knife on a human was disturbing. Even more disturbing was the fact that people felt it was acceptable to jump onto another's ship without expressed permission. These didn't seem like the sort of people he would normally care to associate with, which is exactly what he needed at the moment.

Leaning over to the mechanic that had brought him onto the ship, Wasabi whispered, "Now I understand what you were saying before. If the island is filled with crazy people like this, I think it's safe to assume that the exploding stove what somewhat intentional. This is exactly the place I was looking for. These are pirates, aren't they?"

Ren Moto

Ren Smiled when the apparent captain of the ship said "Your in Luck". Then all of a sudden BANG! Ren Flew off the gangplank that lead up to the ship and into the water, Although she had managed to throw her stuff aboard as she did. She hit the water with a large Splash.

Moments later she rose from the water and reached up over the side of the ship with he Scythe and hoked onto the railing, pulling herself up and over. She walked over to her bags and picked up a kitchen knife she had recently bought. She twirled it around in her hands for a moment and listened to what Sora was saying to the man on the Neighbouring ship.

Ren walked up by Sora and put her foot up on the railing and threw the kitchen knife, which stuck into the ships deck right next to where the two men were standing. Soaking wet, Ren had two veins popping out in her forehead. she took a deep breath... "FRIGGEN ASSHOLES, ARE YOU TRYING TO FUCKING KILL ME!" She shouted, obviously enraged from the events that had just conspired.

Elijah Baden

Elijah looked down at the man, waiting for him to answer. He was definitely scared, since he was backing up from the angry shipwright, even though the railing behind him prevented him from doing so. When he sounded confused about what the button was supposed to do, Elijah felt like his feathers were being ruffled. He took an angry, deep breath, his nostrils flaring. "You have got to be kidding me..." Elijah muttered under his breath, and he rubbed his temple with his hand, groaning.

When the runt tried to counter-threaten him, Elijah felt something explode in his chest. "
Captain Shade?! Yumi?! Listen, you bastard. I don't give a shit who I mess with, or who gets sent after me, get that clear through your head! If they want to come after me, then let them! They'll be dead men as soon as they try to step a foot on this ship. I didn't design this ship for someone to walk all up on my turf and act like tough shit! I pity the fool that comes onto my ship looking for trouble. That person is going to experience a world of pain! So bring that back to your silly little captain and your crew after I rip your arms off and feed them to the sharks, got it?!" He spat at the ground next to the man, furious.

As soon as he was done ranting, another person came up onto the ship. Elijah groaned. 'Just my luck. I barely got the money to maintain my own ship. I'm not paying for this guys ship.' Elijah watched the thief pull some money out of his pocket, and knew for sure that was not enough to fix it. Pulling a cigar out of his pocket, the shipwright took a moment to take a long drag on it, trying to think of his happy place. When another woman, drenched in seawater, came out, furious as all hell, and threw a knife at him. Elijah watched it stick in the wooden deck. He reached down and ripped the blade out of the floor. He then pointed it at the girl. His tone was low and malicious. "Listen here, girly. Watch where the knives go. Because if you dare place it the one wrong spot, the next place it will go is your neck. And if you have a problem with who was trying to kill you..." He turned the knife to point at the thief. "Have a chat with him. He was the one who fired the cannon. Maybe you two will find something in common with pissing me off." Elijah dropped the knife back onto the deck, making sure it didn't stick in the wood.

Approaching the man, Elijah took another drag on his cigar, turning away so he didn't blow the smoke in his face. Placing one hand on his hip and another going up to rub the back of his neck, Elijah looked up towards the sky. "
Listen, buddy. First off, I'm not going to pay for the damages to your ship completely. Honestly, not really bad for what could have happened. The rat over there could have launched a whole stack of cannonballs if he wasn't careful. That would have split your ship in half. Secondly, if we can work out a deal of sorts with money, I'll fix it all up. I just need money for materials. Some wood, steel, rope...I may have some spare stuff below deck that I can use." Holding up his hands, Elijah shrugged his shoulders. "I come from a family of shipwrights. This is the easiest thing to fix in the book. Time and some spare money is all I need." Elijah put his hands down and shoved them into the pockets of his jacket. "Take it or leave it. And I advise, seriously, that you don't act like an idiot on my ship. Because you don't know what may be under you that can kill you."

Stacy Beauregard

Stacy could only shrug at Syrin’s comment as she stepped back on the main deck of the Sea Dragon and then stepped to the side so Wasabi could walk by, which he then did to speak to Norman. “I’m not quite sure yet, to be honest, but if he is a friend, this will be interesting to watch,” she said to Syrin as she started to watch the conversation between Norman and Wasabi unfold.

It was only then that she realized that she still didn’t know the horrendously tall man’s name. She kept that thought to herself, though, making a note that he was already smarter than the captain as far as she was concerned.

Unfortunately nothing amusing really seemed to unfold. For a moment, she thought something interesting might happen, but they were all interrupted by another person walking onto the deck of the ship. Her eyes turned to Kibito giving him a glare of judgement simply because she still recalled her last experience with a young kid and it had wound up with the kid in tears. She never knew what to do when a person cried.

“Shorty and you!?” she rose her voice both inquisitively and slightly rudely. “Sorry to break this to you, but whoever this “shorty” is, isn’t with you. Maybe you should go look for them.” It was clear that being within a large group of people without a defined task to work on was really getting on her nerves.

Her head turned back to the encounter between the two cooks - the situation she had hoped would turn into something interesting - and she rolled her eyes at Wasabi’s comment.
“Yes, they’re pirates. Annoying vagabonds… the lot of them. Apparently everyone’s looking for a map to the legendary One Piece or some shit like that. It also looks like none of them is really doing any actual looking, though. I don’t know how they expect to find the map if they’re just hanging around here.”

A loud sigh escaped her as Captain Kenji finally returned. She walked right up to him, stood right in front of him and held out her hand.
“Kitchen’s fixed. Pay up. Keep the barbecue and the rum. I don’t need any o’ that.” Her voice was stern as she stood there, waiting with her hand open.

Location: On a Building

Age: Late teens / early 20s

Gender: Female

‘Lady with a big sword…’ Yumi’s eyes danced down to the sword at her hip as she smiled slightly while she walked her way through the alley, trying to find her way out. Part of her really wasn’t sure if the man she had just met even really intended to look for the girl or return her as she’d requested, but having more eyes on her side would always be beneficial.

A growing frustration ate away at her, though. Even as she walked through the twists and turns of the seemingly random maze of alleyways, Yumi was struggling to navigate through it. She had to stop and chuckle.
‘Hmm… struggling to navigate. That’s a new one.’ She chuckled a bit before staring at the side of a building, her eyes tracing its crevices and knowing she could probably climb it to see a way out of the web of madness. The woman sighed and slouched. Climbing really was too much work.

Rather than scaling it, her body materialized into something else, something that slowly creeped along the side of
the building, its low density allowing it to scale the walls with ease as it was lighter than the very air around it. Rising to the top, she formed again and brushed herself off, making it seem as though she’d just scaled a building in a very human manner. It was only after that that she realized she was sharing this roof with another person. His attention wasn’t on her, though. He was watching the crowd.

She was grateful for that.

Taking a few steps closer, Yumi looked out at the crowds of the market he was watching, now standing right next to him while being unsure if he’d noticed her yet.

“You haven’t happened to see a young girl running around, have you?” she finally asked. “She’s got red hair, might have a hat, probably running absolutely terrified?”

NPC Notes

Location: The Market

Age: 12

Gender: Female

“Onigiri?” Abigail repeated the word that Kyoko had exclaimed so excitedly and loudly. The younger girl had no idea what it was, what it meant or why it was so exciting. She still didn’t know even as she took the bag that Kyoko offered her, carrying it without complaint or frustration. She was simply happy to have a person to walk with. Abigail imagined that it would be far more difficult for anyone to find her if she wasn’t randomly running around town anymore.

Kyoko’s question snapped her from her thoughts. Her head jerked towards her new friend and she promptly and enthusiastically nodded.
“Yes!” She couldn’t remember the last time she’d eaten a good meal.

Pieces finally clicked together in her mind and made sense.
“Is Onigiri a food?” she finally asked as it made the most sense with the direction the conversation was taking. She narrowed her eyes a bit as she tried to remember if she had ever eaten anything that sounded like “onigiri” before and nothing came to mind. It was puzzling.

Marcus Gaverenton

Marcus sorted through the cupboard, moving stands holding vials to the side in his search. He read over each name quickly, and nudging the incorrect medication he was looking for gently to the side. A few liquids bubbled, but the corks kept anything from escaping. Marcus's biggest fear at his tiny medical office? Disastrous chemical reactions. Whenever someone of decent intelligence came by need a fixing-up, they had a hard time telling if the doctor was really a medical professional, or a chemist. The beakers and flasks containing a multitude of liquids in the room right next to his infirmary had made people feel uneasy in the paste, and had chased away quite a few patients, thinking he was some sort of freak who experimented on human beings. Which, of course, Marcus would never do.

Marcus stopped rummaging for a moment, considering testing on some of his more difficult patrons.

Of course, Marcus snapped back into his job when he heard the bloody coughs coming from behind him. His third patient today, this sorry pirate had come in coughing, and while seeming normal at first, it had slowly evolved into coughing up splatters of blood. Doing a quick analysis, Marcus had been able to cross-out it being a external lung wound. He had suspected an
internal lung wound then, but the pirate had signed to him that his lungs were not bothering him, but his esophagus. Something had happened to his throat to damage it, and it needed to be healed before he suffocated on his own blood.

Finally finding the bottle he needed, Marcus grabbed the yellow liquid. He held it up to the light. No sludge was sitting at the top, which meant that the mixture was still usable. He placed it on the counter, and bent down to open one of the cabinets of the dresser against the wall, reaching in and picking up the smallest shot glass he had. He turned around and walked over to his patient, and placed the shot glass on the doctor's table next to the bed. Pulling the cork out of the bottle, he poured half a sip of the liquid into the glass. He
immediately put the cork back on the bottle, and pulled a pill bottle out of his pocket. Uncapping the new bottle, he pulled a tiny pill out and dropped it into the glass. The pill fizzed and evaporated into the liquid instantly.

Marcus held the shot glass out to the sick man. "
Drink. Now." The man seemed hesitant, but with Marcus glaring at him, he slowly downed the mixture. When finished, he sat still for a moment, and a lazy look came over him. One of his two companions ran over and caught him before he hit the floor. The second pirate looked at Marcus, scared. "W-What did you do?!"

Marcus walked over to the sink in the corner of his office. As he began to wash his hands, he clicked his tongue. "
Just gave him some medication, moron. The liquid is a salve that detects damaged flesh and reacts to it. The healing process will take a long time, but it starts working as soon as it finds the damaged area. He should be fine in a few days, one week at the most. The pill is just something that nulls his senses, reducing him from feeling much pain. 'Course, he'll be like a vegetable for the next two days. Just keep an eye on him. Give him small sips of water every hour, and give him food he doesn't have to chew. Once the effect of the pill seems to be wearing off, have him take it easy. No going out sailing until he's better."

The pirate began to carry his friend out of the office, murmuring under his breath. Another pirate stood by the doorway, and he approached Marcus. He pulled a few Belli notes out of his pocket and handed them to Marcus. After the doctor took them, the pirate put his hand on Marcus's shoulder. "
We owe you one, Doc Mercy. When we first heard about you, we thought you were some kind of witch or whatever."

Marcus's eyebrows raised, and he frowned. "
And now? What am I, your average everyday guy who cuts off someone's leg when they have a cold?"

The pirate seemed nervous for a moment, and laughed lightly. "
No, no...you're probably still a witch. Hey, if you're ever looking to get out of here, we could really use your skills-"

Marcus pushed the man's hand off of him, and turned away. "
No. Not worth my time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm busy." Marcus scooted the man out of his office, and slammed the door quickly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marcus sighed, running a gloved hand through his hair. To any other pirate, he seemed like an 'ordinary' citizen. How he dressed wasn't so strange, though he had been told he seemed to dress too fancy to be a pirate. Marcus never really considered himself a true pirate, instead believing he was just someone who happened to settle in an area that was heavy with pirate traffic. All unfortunate events.
But with the large amount of pirates coming through lately, more and more have been requesting that he join their crews as their doctor. It was getting rather annoying. No pirate that had come by to see him has ever seemed like someone worth his loyalty. They all seemed like lowly scumbags. and Marcus was not about to join some crew that only thought about causing trouble for people. If he were to ever join a crew, he wanted to raise hell on a global level. He wanted his name to be remembered for a long time, but not forever. He hated the word 'forever'. Nothing can last that long. Not even the words of a book lasted forever. Everything died eventually. He just wanted to make an impact on the world.
He began to chuckle under his breath. He wasn't sure why he was even worrying about anything. He didn't even have a bounty yet. And, being a doctor, he was positive his bounty would be measly. Close to 100,000 at the absolute most, he assumed. He would barely handle any fighting unless he was backed into a corner. From what he heard around, doctors were mostly confined belowdecks to ensure their safety. He was not ready for a cramped life like that. The person who he accompanied would have to be really something special in his eyes.
Pulling his gloves tighter onto his hands, Marcus looked around. He had walked around these streets enough these past few years to know where was safe and where it wasn't. As long as you stayed in the open, you had a good chance of not getting a knife between the ribs. That's how most people tended to die in his office. Petty thievery. A sad story, indeed. Now, most people knew not to mess with Doc Mercy of Mirstone, but the threat was still there from the people who were new to town.
Looking up to the sky, he noticed it was getting late. Pulling his lighter and a cigarette out of his pocket, he took a moment to light up, and took a light drag. Imagine that. A doctor smoking a cigarette. He knew he wasn't giving a good image of himself to people, but when did he care about the degenerates here?
His ears perked up at the sound of mewling coming from in front of him. He had been so absorbed in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed the cat sitting patiently in front of him. The two locked eyes for a moment, and the cat stood up. It seemed like it wanted to approach Marcus, and, to be honest, Marcus was a sucker for cats. He bent down on his knees and rubbed his fingers together, trying to coax the cat to come over to him. It approached a few inches, and when the doctor reached out to pet it, it darted backwards. Marcus frowned, and took a tentative step forwards. But, the cat leapt backwards more.
Marcus felt a vein begin to bulge in his forehead. When he spoke, his voice was still rather calm. "
Hey, come on. I'm not going to hurt you, little shit. Just let me pet you. Be calm-!" He pounced forwards, trying to pet the cat. But it just narrowly escaped his grasp, and it began sprinting down the street. Marcus wasted no time finding his footing and beginning a mad chase. The cat streaked down the street, trying to outrun the doctor. But Marcus was not giving up. He was unsure what was making him run, but that cat looked too fluffy for him to just let run away. He would not let it go without him petting it.
They ran down a few streets, Marcus breathing heavily. He gritted his teeth. "
Come. Back. Here. You. Little. Shit. And. Let. Me. Pet. You. Come! On!" Marcus began pumpinghis arms harder, trying to gain some distance. "You! Goddamn! Bastard! Let! ME! FUCKING-!" He felt his toe hit a piece of the road that was sticking up out of the ground, and he lost touch of the ground for a moment. With a gasp of surprise, Marcus hit the ground, face-first, and slid along the ground for a few feet. He immediately put his arms down and pushed up to prevent his face from getting injured too much. He soon slid to a stop, and he groaned. Placing his palms flat on the ground, Marcus pushed himself up onto his knees. He gripped his nose, it seeming to have run along the ground the most. When he pulled his hand away, he saw no blood on the glove, so that was good. Looking around, he saw that the cat had made it's escape from him. Sighing, Marcus pushed himself off of the ground. "Fucking little bitch....got away from me just as I was about to get it! Damnit!"
Marcus turned and, much to his embarrassment, saw that he had fallen right in front of a group of people. And, from what he could tell, they seemed like pirates. Double bad. Coughing into his hand rather dramatically, Marcus gave a halfhearted wave to the one at the head of the group, with chaotic brown-red hair. "
Hey, uh...you, uh, didn't see any of that, alright? Just, keep whatever you saw between us...Because I would rather not look like the crazy doctor who, uh...chases cat's because they look, uh...fluffy. Alright?" He felt his nose begin to throb, and winced at the pain. He held his finger up, signing for them to excuse him for a moment. He pulled out a vial from inside his vest, and poured some liquid onto his fingers. Then, gently, he applied the liquid to his nose. The medicine seeped into his skin, and he began to feel a tiny wave of relief.
Putting the vial back where it had come from, Marcus looked between the group. "
So, uh. You all won't say anything, right? Because, really. It would be fucking awful that every time someone came to me with a stab wound or scurvy, they would say 'Hey! You're the guy we heard chased a stupidass cat because you wanted to pet it! What a fucking weirdo!' You know?" He gestured to the woman. "You look like someone of reason. Mind keeping this all between us as a group?" He then locked eyes with each person individually. He felt his composure come back, and with it, his confidence. "And it would be a shame if you all accidentally got a slight shot of lethal fluids in your next glass of alcohol. A damn shame, for sure. So, we cool?" He pointed to each of them, waiting for their answer. He felt a few beads of sweat form on the back of his neck.
Watanabe Hotaka Wasabi
Wasabi attention flashed to the man that seemed to be in charge as his identity was inquired about. Taking a step forward, he responded, "I am but a humble wanderer that heard of the stove explosion earlier today and came to inquire about your cook's methods. Such an explosion is a careless mistake that could be easily avoided with a little forethought... or the absence of a gas stove, which seems somewhat illogical to have on a seafaring vessel. However, the style of your chef might be dependent on such an instrument, so that doesn't bother me. As it seems I might be interrupting something though, if I am not welcome here, I will leave without trouble... after this good mechanic has been paid for her labor, that is."
Rena Heartwood
As she sped through the alleys and tiny streets towards the docks, she reflected a little on her personality flaws. She had a bad habit. Vengeance. She could never let anything go. And having a bullet come anywhere near her when she was doing nothing but standing there....well it ticked her off a little. A lot. Enough to sabotage a ship? You bet your ass.
She had to find the ship, so she could apply said vengeance. Did this town have a harbormaster? Do pirates register with one? Probably not. They steal and plunder - not really ones to play by the rules. Her earlier investigation of the docks were interesting, but fruitless when it came to this. Going into each ship and looking for evidence of 'Winward pirates" was pretty much suicide and she scolded herself for even thinking it.
What were he options? Well, they were pirate hunters and they were currently on an island full of pirates.The idiocy of them even docking at Mirestone confounded her.
"These people are insane." Rena mumbled as she mulled over her options. Someone on the island would know, but finding that someone was going to be tricky.
Other possibility was going from earlier experience, he sounded like a proper chatty, braggy type of fellow. She should have goaded him into telling her the name of the ship before she left, but between Mr multiple personailty, flame boy and Mr pirate hunter that likes to shoot at people - there was no way she was staying. She did have to admit though the Captain Kenji was a fine looking man.
At the very least she knew where Captain Winward Jackass was and most other people didn't. Why not just ask people?
"Ah, excuse me, I'm looking for he Captain of the Winward pirates." She asked a rather burly man. Why did she ask the burly man? It'd been a long day and there was more than one error of judgement.
"Why'dya'wanna'know?" He said, stringing each word into the other to make a word that would win in Scrabble every time.
She looked up at him pleadingly. God she hated doing this. "Please? It's really important."
"Oh...uh...I...well...I dunno. Never heard of them, but if you wanna go out on a..."
Rea was already walking away. Ugh. Now she was sure he had a soft side and probably a rather good sense of humour, but if your first word to a woman looks like the alphabet just vomited up something, then that was going to get very far with a gal who writes for a living.
She walked the docks, looking at the countless ships. She spotted the Sea Dragon.... Maybe she'd get lucky and....
She paused and stared at the ship, a number of ships down from the Sea Dragon for a good 10 seconds, blinking so as to reset her focus. It was safe to assume that she had found the Winward Pirate's ship, as there was a big plaque on the side of a dark wood vessel that said "Winward pirates" on it.
"Well it's about time Lady luck dealt me a face card." Rena said, just as there was an explosion coming from further down the dock. Rena did what Rena does and kept a low profile as she watched a head peer lazily out of the crow's nest from the Winward's ship, then climb down and amble his way towards the commotion - a man clearly starved of stimulus. Whatever caused that explosion was just the distraction Rena needed to board the ship. Hopefully there was no-one else on it.
She prowled around the deck. There wasn't much of interest; a few trinkets, a bunch of bounty posters, couple hundred beli. These guys were average pirate hunters at best. The ship was in need of repair and a paint job. Quickly going from room to room, she confirmed that no-one else was on the ship and pulled out her grenades. She had a variety, but explosive seemed like a decent bet here. She'd practiced the timing of the thing countless times, so that it was second nature and she had a decent throwing arm too - all those years of doing the paper rounds and throwing newspapers into mailboxes, meant that she was a fair deadshot when it came to throwing things.
She backed away, activated the grenade. 1.2.3 - throw! Rena didn't even need to look; the grenade would blow up right at the ship's wheel.
BOOM!!
Rena ran like the wind, down alleys, over trash cans and towards just any random ship. The force would be enough to blow the wheel to splinters and whilst it wasn't unfixable, it would delay them for sure. You know, unless explosion caused a fire, but grenades didn't normally cause fires. They could but...
Rena peered around the corner and saw the familiar distant glow of a fire starting. Whoops! Well then! Captain shouldn't have shot at her. Still....might be an idea to lay low for a little while. Maybe, she'd take some time to interview the dude with the devil fruit. What was the name of the ship again? The Sea Dragon? If she remembered correctly, she had past it on her way to the Winward Pirates ship. Spotting it she waved to whomever was on it,
"Hi! Remember me! Uh...I don't suppose you're looking for a navigator or scout are you? I'll scrub the decks if need be, I just really need to get to the grand line to turn in my resume." Rena asked, looking around hastily towards the direction of the smoke, "Jeez, I wonder what that could be!?" she said with a forced smile and sweat forming at her forehead.
Upon the unexpected reuniting of Ferra with the captain she'd agreed to serve... no, not serve... the Captain she'd agreed to work with, as she'd not allow herself to be lorded over by another man, Ferra understood that the time was quickly coming that she would be leaving Mirstone. It was not a sorrowful thing, to be leaving the town, and in truth the only good it had brought was easy money and a quick means to build a reputation, but the truth was there had been nothing here for her. Nor would there likely have ever been.
She'd kept her words to herself, sparing little other than scrutinising looks and glances at the others as they made their to the ship she would be residing on for the immediate future. Speaking to her fellows was not needed now, simply assessing any that may have been a threat to her was all she cared for. Her mood wasn't helping either. That fool boy had opened her mind to her past, a past she preferred not to have present on her mind when in public, or free of the intoxicating and alluring haze that the daemon drink oft brought to her mind. Even as her foot landed on the gangplank it was as if her mind fled away down the path to her past as she stepped foot upon her first ship again with the Marines. Blinking away the haunting ghosts that plagued her mind, Ferra shook her head with a hiss and strode definitively upon the deck of the craft that she would be working upon. Laying her hand upon the railing, the woman walked away up the side of the craft silently, making her way towards the helm, momentarily assessing the wheel before giving it a nod of approval.
Looking at the crew that she would be expected to serve with, Ferra finally spoke.
"I will likely take residence upon the crow's nest. If I am needed, calling for me is simple. Should I be sleeping the same call should awaken me easily enough. I expect my privacy be respected, but understand the restrictions of such things on a ship. Despite this, for any who do not wish to let light see through their insides, do not ever try to awaken me by hand. It is not a threat, mind," Ferra advised, stopping for a moment to avert her gaze from meeting any eyes in particular, instead looking past the group as she shifted in slight discomfort, "But a warning. I would not pretend to have full control of what my mind perceives in such times as when the twilight of what is real and what is dreams rules. Aside from such a dire happenstance, I look forward to our service together and hope that we will be able to serve amicably amongst one another as brother's in arms."
Turning from the group Ferra looked out over the waves, her kind falling to the past yet again as she once again stood on her first craft, ready to go forth and find her place in the world. That was, after all, what she truly sought. While these men would seek forth for their 'One Piece' she too would look for hers...
Her one peace.
Reaching into her jacket she withdrew a flask and took a greedy draught from the container, letting the burn of it's contents sear the memories from her mind once more. The sooner they were underway and she had work to put herself towards, the better. In the meantime she let those standing on the deck behind her do there thing, and reminded herself that should they attempt to speak to her she needed to be amicable. Well, amicable enough. Taking another dreg from her flask a faint hope for the future found itself rising in the depths of the former marine's mind.
Cait Merlin
Cait had heard a splash shortly after the cannon hit the Lucky Nova. She ran over to the railing, indenting to save whoever or whatever fell into the water. Rin pulled herself back onto the deck with her scythe by the time Cait got there. She flashed a smile at Rin, glad to see that she was OK. Cait flinched when her new crewmate pulled out a knife and threw it. She hadn't expected that. "I think it was an accident..." she said.
Cait retrieved her guitar and put the case around her shoulder. She leaped off of the Lucky Nova and landed on the docks, her Fishman muscles absorbed the shock of landing. After that she walked over to Elijah, Sora, and Weston and caught a bit of their discussion. "Sounds like the best deal we're probably going to get, Captain," she said to Sora. "Since this knucklehead caused the cannon fire, I think he should pay for the materials," she added, indicating Weston. "If he doesn't have enough Beli I could try street performing for the extra cash. It may be getting late, but it's a good hour for people to be making their way toward the pubs."
Wil D. Heart
Having spent his time scanning the crows below, Wil took the time to observe. After all, to stay safe in the jungle, one would have to observe potential dangers. Pirates were a crazy bunch. Often the most eccentric of characters became pirates. While this let Wil slip into the crowd and blend in with his weirdness, this also meant he had to be on guard. The recent cannon fire from the docks and the multiple brawls scattered throughout the various streets and bars only served to remind him of that.
Still, the boy couldn't help but wonder. Having spent so long without other human contact, he was always marveled by such places. A gathering of so many people from many different walks of life. It was exciting and fascinating.
Perhaps he lost
himself in the wonder of the scene and the taste of his banana because he certainly didn't hear the woman from behind him approach. The sudden surprise made his instincts kick in as he flipped around the moment she spoke, eyes narrow. He might've even looked a little intimidating, had he not started choking on the half eaten banana in his mouth.
Recove
ring from his brief stumble, the boy relaxed for a moment after being presented with only a question. His shoulders lowered and his muscles relaxed coming under realization that he wasn't under any immediate harm. 'Ohhh it seems I dropped my guard. Oops!'
For a moment he didn't reply, only observed. It was rare anyone ever managed to sneak up on him without him hearing or smelling them. Just who was this woman? She looked pretty and had a fancy one of those sword things. Her eyes gave away the look of someone who was watchful and avid, mirroring Wil himself. Otherwise, she was a complete mystery to him. That partly made Wil uncomfortable.
"Hmm. . ." Wil began tapping his banana to his chin, in a sort of thinking pose. Then his memory came back to him and his expression and tone brightened happily. "I think I saw a girl with red hair! Yeah she was running. Why do you ask?"
NPC Notes
Location: The Docks
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Weston’s entire body flinched greatly in the moment that the kitchen knife embedded itself in the ship, the blade piercing through the wood and cutting the sleeve of his shirt though it never touched his skin. To Ren’s yell, the young pirate offered no reply. In all reality, he had only been looking for things to steal and not trying to kill anyone. For some reason, though, he doubted the woman with the knife would believe that. It simply wasn’t worth the effort to try.
A smirk did creep onto his face though, at Elijah’s yelling.
“Yumi wouldn’t even need to step foot on our ship to kill you,” he muttered softly. “That’s how terrifying she is.”
That left him to simply watch, keeping himself pressed against the rail of the ship as the others seemed to start sorting out how to deal with the situation. Briefly he found himself wondering what they would do to him in the end and the thought of Yumi finding them amused him. Then again, if Yumi found him sitting where he was right
now, Weston knew he was a dead man and it wouldn’t be because of anything the people in front of him would do about the damage he’d already caused.
When he heard Cait’s words, though, Weston finally let out a sigh of relief.
Finally someone gets it! I don’t have any money!” Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the ruby he stole from Charybdis and showed it to them. “This is the only thing I’ve got to my name right now and if giving it to you makes you stop throwing knives at me, take it!”
Narivena Veulence
Just as she was about to respond to Cletus, an explosion made her draw her blade halfway out of her sheath and duck behind the rail. "The hell..?" she muttered as she realized that was not an attack on them nor the ship, but elsewhere along the docks. Some poor bastard had probably angered a crew and gotten his ship blown up. Typical bandit-actions. Sheathing herblade, she let out a relieved sigh and let her fingers run over the ring hanging in a thin chain around her neck. " Yeah, she shouldn't be too long if she was only gone for the meeting."
It did not take
too long for Scarlet to return to the ship. Despite having her curiosity piqued by the explosion, she figured it was just another moron not worth checking out. Map lady..? A short laughter left her throat as she leaned onto the railing and peered down at the new members of the crew. " Welcome back, guys. Congratulations on assembling your crew." Narivena saluted down towards Scarlet before eyeing her company. An interesting group of people. Not that she would stick around for too long anyways.
" What's new about the map to the One Piece, then?" she added, aiming the question to no one in particular. Any information provided would be welcome. Knowing little about this crew, she decided it would be best to leech as much information as she could before leaving once they reached the next island. First off, she would have to finish her current map.
Without expecting much of an answer, Narivena turned around and leaned against the railing once more, pulling out a notebook as she waited for the rest to board the ship. While she flipped through it, she occassionally laid her eyes on the new members as well as the ones she had already met.
@Veirrianna Valentine (Think I tagged y'all??)
KYOKO RINNE
Kyoko reentered the marketplace but this time with more vigor and motivation now that she had someone tagging along with her. Many ingredients were needed but she had done these recipes before when she was just a curious and somewhat joyful girl under the apprenticeship of her father, making food- especially for someone else- gave her a motive to achieve perfected cuisines and she'd probably could do it hundred times if she wanted to.
Kyo was checking out a stand for nori seaweed whilst talking to the old man who owned the shop, a few stands away from them, a stern but cynical looking man with what looked like two others following his lead came up to the old granny stand and was investigating her shop, picking up the produce and... sniffing them? The large, grinned man, wearing a light hazel coat, with something stitched onto the shoulder of it, he then spoke to granny
, "Hey! Granny! How much you got these... Uhh.. Umm", one of the minions who were shorter than the man came up to him, "Aquatic p-produce, captain.","Yeah, what he said. I see that you make quite some cash out these suckers. Now, let's be real and honest and I'll tell you straight. Could you give about... Let's say half of your profit to me and your dreams can come true. How bout that? Not a bad deal ain't it?" Both of his minions chuckled behind their supposedly captain while old granny laughed as well, seeing that maybe she saw through their so-obvious- scheme, "Sorry dear, but I already got my dreams to come true. So, I don't really need my dream to come true, since... Well, since its true." She chuckled again, other owners of shops and stands around her laughed as well, it seemed everyone knew what she was talking bout within their circle of friends.
The grinning man soon turned upside down and he cleared his throat a bit before speaking to her again
, "Granny, you should still give me the money. Don't you have other dreams that you wanna make true," The other minion stood near the other side of their captain, putting his hand in pockets, "Yeah, granny, you probably need some extra pockets to keep safe your earnings-," "Yeah, granny, because if you don't-" suddenly the three pulled pistols from their pockets in synchronization and cocked the guns, "You'll get blood on them. Won't cha?" All of them laughed to themselves but soon came out bursting with the granny and others now getting tense of the situation. Kyoko turned to Abigail, "Abby, stay here. I'm gonna look a bit over there." And nonchalantly walked to another stand whilst eavesdropping to the conservation.
,"So, what it'll be granny. Ya gonna squawk or what?" The granny was at gunpoint with three pistols aimed at her, everyone drew sweat on their pale faces. It seemed like something had to be done before anyone got hurt, but one of the minions couldn't help but want to pull the trigger for everyone's reactions to laugh at as a shot could be heard like thunder from the sky. Kyo in a moments notice as the granny closed her eyes and reopened, had kicked his hand into the air pointing the gun up when it fired, the minion couldn't grasp what happened and fell on the floor in shock, crawling back and covering behind their captain. The captain also stepped back in dismay but kept his ground and his wits-luckily- together, "Hey missy! What was that for!? You have a death wish or something!? You'll regret messing with me!" Kyoko brushing her hair back, said with boast, "You think pointing a gun at me will save you from hell? Especially when you tried to scam a woman out of her money? Leave peacefully, never come back and this can go without a fight."
The captain gestured his minions to him and whispered to each other before standing back,
"Alright, alright. You got me. I'll leave. No worries." Kyo closed her eyes in relief as the threesome walked away , "But I won't leave without you dead first." Drawing his gun, pulling the trigger but right before he could a fast moving object soon pummeled his face knocking him to the ground. Kyoko catching what seemed to be... a ladle!? Some were astonished while others confused, "Clear the area." She said with confidence as the crowd backed away to a safe distance , "Alright bitch! Now you die!" The captain in anger threw himself up and wiped off the drip of blood coming out of his nose, but Kyo at a distance, put her hands together, inhaled then exhaled mumbling to herself, but the captain in fury came in with swing, Kyoko opened her eyes shouting,"Bokator!" She slide her right leg out under him, lowering herself to evade the punch and came in with a bewildering elbow strike straight to his stomach. The captain face turned pale and his eyes rolled over, stuck in his position of dear pain. Kyo moved back a few paces as the captain fell flat on his face without hesitation, his so called mates were shaking in their boots, their faces wrought in fear, crawled up to their boss and carried him by their shoulders as they pushed through the crowds out of harms way, "Damn, I made a scene alright." Scratching the back of her head, she seemed to be dissatisfied rather than praiseful about the situation as she walked back to Abigail.
Xiao was about to respond to both Cait and Sora, but before he could do so a loud noise filled the air as a cannon ball hit the ship. Where they under attack? Xiao took a defensive stance, waiting to intercept the next attack. But nothing happened afterwards. Then a few small events took place before him: the crew gained a new chef, Sora going on the ship of the attacker, and Cait giving a few suggestions about gaining money for the repairations.
The panda watched as Sora asked the one responsible of the hole in the ship about monetary compensations with a smile on his face. But Xiao could feel his anger. And he had every reason to be angry, though the panda respected his new captain's self-control.
In the end, Xiao chose to do nothing. He'd merely observe things for the moment, and strike if necessary.
