“For a healthier tomorrow.”
A biomedical firm connected to the Muldoon Conglomerate. Owns the laboratory in which Doctor Alan Foster worked, as well as has conections to several other biomedical firms around the world. Asclepius Group is one of the largest firms in the world for medical research. Known for its work on common every day medications as well as its heavy research into rare diseases. Its inner workings are incredibly secretive and its pharmaceutical production second to none.
Headquartered in Chicago, its New York Branch has its non-laboratory offices in Downtown Manhattan. It has laboratories dedicated to rare disease research and every day medicine production located in Hudson Yards and near Wall Street.
"Fidelis ad Mortem"
The boys in blue who patrol the streets of New York. The first line of defense against everything from petty crimes to riots that threaten to sweep the city in flame.
"Protecting tomorrow, today"
A Private Security Company connected to the Muldoon Conglomerate, often found guarding their sites. It also engages in protection of VIPs such as corporate bigwigs and politicians. While most recently found in warzones, they are occasionally seen inside of major cities, guarding sites of interest or important figures.
Has come under recent scrutiny for some of its actions being deemed too "extreme."
When a disease threatens society, the CDC are some of the first to respond to the incident, quarantining the area and gathering together the infected in an effort to prevent more from being exposed.
Threats:
"If the brain and spine are akin to Yggdrassil, then the Jormungandr Worm brings about Ragnarok."
- Magnus Skeggsson, Medieval Norse shaman.
A small white parasitic worm that makes its home in the amygdala and reproduces asexually. It begins activating the "Fight" response of the brain, and literally eating at rational parts of the brain. The increased energy usage results in ravenous hunger from the infected subjects who begin to crave flesh, typically warm. Due to its nature, it spreads through the various fluids of the body due to its dwelling.
Fortunately, it is not capable of surviving more than 30 seconds outside of blood, mucus, or cerebrospinal fluid. It also enters a hibernation state when exposed to cold temperatures. If exposed to cold within 30 seconds of entering the bloodstream, it can actually be pulled out through its point of entry.
Believed to originate from the melted arctic ice.
Those infected with the Jormungandr Worm. Known to react violently to outside stimuli such as direct light or sound. Violent humans with a tendency to take bites from bystanders. Destruction, or disconnection, from the brain tends to stop them in their tracks. After 3 days, their flesh begins to rot as the worms inside eat it for sustenance.
Believed to be the old viking "Berserkers" due to their tenacity and fierceness.
Colloquially referred to as "zombies" by the layman due to their similarity to the monsters from popular culture.
