Ambrulina frowned and began counting on her fingers. "1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 6, 10! Ten suns went through the sky so far!" She smiled proudly, not really seeing anything wrong with this fact.

Luna's face was full of concern. "Did your parents say anything to you before they left? And why did they leave?"

She rested a hand on the girls arm

Kira yawned and rose from the couch, her nap over. Staying in human form, she walked outside and down the porch stairs toward Luna's cabin. Tilting her head, she presses her cap onto her head and walks over to stand a few paces behind the little girl with her. "Hey Luna.- and... company?" Casting an uncertain smile, she looks down to the girl.

"Well, Mommy had said she was going to get a rabbit, so I went to sleep. Then when I woke up, the pack was missing! Do you think it was a fox?" She asked curiously, looking up.

Luna's mouth opened. "Kira, will you hold Ella please?" She stood and began handing her daughter to Kira, keeping her eyes trained on the child. "Did you try to follow their scent?"

Silently Faolin walked along the perimeter of the packs territory. He walked along on padded feet. He heard voices so he changed course. He trotted out of the underbrush causing just enough noise to warn the wolves he was coming. He could smell Luna, Kira, Gabriel. and three unknown scents two of which smelled like Luna. Her pups must be female. He arrived to see Luna hand Kira her daughter! Wow that was a lot of trust their was a little girl talking to Luna. He stopped wondering if he would scare the girl of he came closer.

Ambrulina nodded. "I tried, but I don't have my wolf yet. Daddy said it might happen later." She turned to see Faolin and tensed, unsure if he was part of the pack.

Luna walked to the girl and gently held her. She stroked her hair "Poor baby."

She held her out at arms length. "We can try and help you find your family dear."

Silently Faolin looked at the little girl and smiled assuredly. He stayed where he was however feeling like he had intruded. Looking at the girl he calculated. Young not able to change into a wolf. Hmmm. Well every person was a mystery waiting to be unraveled so far Kira had been the most difficult one to unravel he had managed to get the scroll on her partial open however he had yet to attain the whole book that would come later.

Kira re-positioned the child in her arms, looking to Luna. "I can look after this new one, if you wish," she offers, nodding to the young girl. "Unless you planned on having someone else..."

Luna laughed. "Yes yes you are honey."

She stood and collected Ella from Kira. "You may take her if you'd like, she's more than welcome here."

Kira nods and rests her hands in the pockets of her long sweater, smiling down to the girl. She drops down into a squat, almost coming up to the girl's height. "Hello there, little one. I'm Kira, what's your name?"

"I'll try my best, Ambrulina," she whispers, standing up. Kira holds out a hand for her to take. "First, though, wanna see the cabin? We all get one and luck would have it I have a spare room that can be all yours." Kira smiles, taking a moment to huff a curl of hair out of her face.

Kira giggles and makes a mock-monster growl, trudging toward the cabin. "Rrrr," she pulls her arms inside her sweater. "Rrr there's something on my leg, a mighty hero and I cannot reach her!"

(With all of this cuteness, I feel obliged to kill the mood. You may have noticed that Cecil does not have a character sheet. I assure you that this should not be a problem.)

Cecil had been travelling for too long with too little success. He wasn’t lost or anything –well, as far as he could tell- but the wolf had always had a keen sense of direction when it came to traversing the wilds.

Still, if his calculations had been correct than he should have arrived at the lake yesterday. That was if the loner’s tale had been correct. The older wolf’s muzzle had been well-salted with strands of grey and her teeth had been stained a vivid yellow from age, yet those misty eyes seemed to be honest enough. Cecil had said his farewell to the she-wolf about a week ago, but he could still remember all that she had said as if it were yesterday.

“A pack; strong and as green as spring grass…” The aged wolf had said with porous grin. “… a young wolf like you would do well to find one. Alas, my old bones would do nothing but slow them down – but you, you could find a mate, win some glory. Hmm, yes. I can see now that you want this.” She had then pointed her muzzle towards a line of mountains. “That is the way to go. Once you pass the mountains you will come across a lake; that is where you will find them. Good luck.”

Cecil had made it to the mountain’s base, but the thick wall of trees was preventing him from spotting any landmark, let alone a large body of water. He would have to climb up the mountain for a better viewpoint.

If he thought he was sore from his tiring journey, it was nothing compared to the exhaustion he felt by the time he stopped to rest beside a white tree, its pale limbs barren and lifeless.

“I need to rest.” He muttered breathlessly to himself.

He couldn’t quite remember the last time he had slept. It must have been the night before last; he had been too fretful to sleep from the distant howls, knowing that his future lay just beyond the mountains. In his haste he had even attempted to pass over the mountainous region to quicken his travels, causing him to end up where he was now. His rust colored ears flicked up in interest when he looked up the mountain slope and spotted a cave nestled within the jagged rocks. It was perfect; high enough to be a good look-out point and a nice den to rest up before he met with his future pack. It would not do to show up looking like death warmed over- he had worked hard to leave his past mistakes, he had to make this pack accept him. After a brief rest the wolf hauled himself over the rocks and up to the rocky outlook beside the cave.

Now that he was up higher he could see it -the lake; shimmering like a glass mirror from the refracted rays of the sun and tantalizingly distant from the wolf.

“There it is… a fresh start.” He muttered contently.

All he would have to do was finish the last stretch of forest between him and the tiny manmade structures that could only be cabins. He found himself wanting to bound down the slope and get it over with, but he knew that he could not show up in such a bedraggled state for fear of appearing weak. That would also mean that he should rest, which wouldn’t be too difficult now that he had found a suitable cave.

Cecil reluctantly turned away from the lake and walked to the mouth of the cave. As he neared the bearcave he noticed an odd scent, in his haste to look for the lake on the horizon he hadn’t noticed it before. It was strongest inside of the cave, but he couldn’t pin just what it was… similar to cat or lynx. During his examination of the cave he found a dried puddle of blood on the cavefloor, which when he lowered his muzzle to inspect he suddenly remembered what creature the scent belonged to.

“Cougar.” He muttered, ears pulled back.

When he had been with his old pack before its collapse, his pack mates had often hunted down the felines for sport. Cecil had preferred prettier prey, ones that provided kisses rather than bites and scratches (well on second thought, they had done that too), but he knew the scent from the bloodied corpses his friends brought back.

“It must be injured.” He said while looking around the cave. “I bet that if I could bring the corpse to the pack they will be appreciative. “

It shouldn't be that hard. Cecil had only attended one hunt, but the cat was much smaller than the werewolves and went down easily after his comrades had chased it all over the territory. One of the wolves,Phillip, had gotten a nasty scratch but it only turned out to be yet another scar to boast about. Besides, Cecil wasn't weak. He had gotten in his share of fights and had great faith in his own strength.

Kira slow-ran after her. "Stay away from the lake, little one! We're going to cabin eight, it's the one with flowers and a hammock on the porch," she called after the girl.
