What does it mean to crit?
How it works for us is you';d take the full damage of your selected attack then add an additional roll to it.

I.E. Say Mr. Death Knight chose to use Vacuum Wave. It deals 2d4 damage so a crit would be 8 + an additional 2d4 roll. Make sense?

Wait, what's the difference between that and rolling a 20?

Sorry if I'm being slow, I still don't fully understand the dice system.

If you roll a 20, thats a crit.

The additional roll wouldnt happen otherwise. You'd just roll your hit then roll your damage as normal

In essence, you want a crit to happen as much as possible but due to the requirement of rolling a 20, it purely luck.

Sooo, they're the same thing? Or am I tweaking?

Orr, you're saying that if I roll a 20, I land the hit and just roll as normal.

But, I also have to option to double roll instead of rolling normally?

No no.

Rolling a 20 means you crit, you dont get the option, you get the nice extra damage.

rolling below a 20 but hitting above the targets armor class means you roll normally for damage.

But rolling the 20 to crit has to be natural, no modifiers. a Nat 20 as the DnD community calls it.

The best way i can explains is this;
The Death Knight rolls for his hit. He rolls a natural 20, meaning he crits Heath. His chosen attack deals 2d4 damage so he gets the guaranteed 8 damage plus whatever he rolls for damage afterwards for that same attack.

Rolling a 20 means you get guaranteed max damage plus an additional damage roll of that same attack.

OHHH

Okay, okay, I understand now. Thank you, man.

Alright, alright, so getting back to the battle, I'm conflicted as of what to do now.

This fight is moving pretty slow, if I'm being honest. I mean, the first attack was sent out in March, and it's now June. I understand we've had real life things going on, exams and whatnot, but golly this is moving in slow motion. So, I was thinking of taking that 20 and applying it, but using a weaker one of Heath's attacks and using it on Julianna. Just to finally give this battle some much needed momentum.

BUT, I'm still very grateful for you sparing me from getting cooked by the Death Knight, and I'll gladly reciprocate. So I'll leave the decision up to you. Take the 20 or keep the second roll valid?

If you do choose the second roll, I was wondering how modifiers work toward that. Heath's strength stat has a +3 at the end of it, so does that mean I add an additional 3 modifier to an attack?

Hey its your pick but for the second choice, yeah, just add that +3 to the end of his roll.

Also, normally battle dont take this long but since everyone has been on and off, its going remarkably slow.

At a normal pace, battles shouldn't take longer then maybe 5-10 posts (Yes, it seems like alot but with many different peoiple battling all at once, health goes down rather quickly for both enemies and players.)

Yeahh, we've really made no progress with the dice system so far. I understand why, though. Hopefully we can return to our prime soon.

I remember those days where we'd all pump out like 2-3 posts a day. I'd stay up til midnight working on one.😢

I forgot how much HP i was gonna give Julianna... hang on lol
