the year was 1979 and the lanier crew were all about to go their separate ways. they’d all met years ago at lanier islands on lake lanier in the tiny town of buford, georgia ,and they’d spent their formative years with each other, forming a bond unlike any other. as the summer came to a close and they were all preparing to go off to college, they made a pact. it was relatively simple in concept and earnest in intent. but it was a bit idealistic for a group of high schoolers to be making. when they went on to have children of their own, they’d bring them to lanier islands each and every summer so that they could experience the magic of this place and a bond unlike any other. somehow, as unfathomable as it may seem, they kept that promise. for the past 18 years, the lanier crew & their children have been spending 2 months each summer at lanier islands in a huge lake house. the summers were spent boating and swimming during the day, getting soaked at the water park, zip lining through the canopies, having bonfires and stargazing at night, and sneaking alcohol to go off to the docks in the middle of the night.

now, it’s 2017 and the lanier squad, as the children call themselves, have all grown up. last summer they weren’t able to go to lanier and it left everyone with an empty sort of feeling in the pit of their stomach. the summer just didn’t seem quite right. everyone is starting to go their separate ways, but no one is quite ready to let go of lanier or the magic of summer. the lake community brings a magic sort of feeling. the warm security blanket of nostalgia. and none of them want to part with it just yet. that’s why they’ve decided to head back to lanier - but for the fall and winter seasons this time. they’re ready for friday night bonfires, boating saturdays, & sunday brunch. they’re ready to reunite, build new memories, & reminisce on summers of the past.

summary: a group of friends have spent every summer of their lives in lanier islands, a lake community in georgia. their parents were best friends & they grew up a tight-knit group who refer to themselves as the lanier squad. they missed last summer, so they’ve decided to spend this fall & winter back in lanier.
