Fantasy Katta & Lexa's fairytales

Tenkte den heite Ran

Kel dragged a hand through his hair "I have shut him up when he tried to talk about it. I know we knew each other. Probably had a thing, that didn't turn out well. He as everyone else thought I was dead." it hurt whenever the subject of his past came up, but he could handle pain. Pain was an old friend to him. But he didn't know exactly why he was so afraid of unlocking his past.

" I know you aren't friendly with Kane, and we got very different expirences with him... So why are you asking?" he studied Varg carefully, he had to know if there was something more other than curiosity behind it. He did like Varg, and he hoped he could trust him one day

"Because the people who made me like this," he said, making a gesture with his hand, leaving traces of smoke from his movement; "were your enemies once. I, was your enemy. You see, I recongnized you when you came to these woods all those years ago. I've seen you before. In your past life, one might call it."
He paused for a moment. "I'm not your enemy any longer, of course. And if you want to leave the past alone, you can. I won't bring it up again. But I thought you should know. I feel like I know so much about you; almost more than yourself. And you know nothing about me."

Kel smiled warmly at Varg before looking at the painting off Kane again "there's a time to let the past lay, and there is a time to grab it. I know I can't run from it forever. And I can feel that something is coming. Change and blood. We better be prepared." He moved back to the drawing of Fanfner "everyone knows more about myself than me, yet no one knows me. There's only been one man since the rise of dawn that has. And he isn't around." He looked at Varg. He was right of course, he wouldn't argue. He knew nothing about Varg, nor about himself. It would be alright to bring it up. Or try, but it needed to be done carefully. Kel was well aware that he could loose it." I do want to know about you. And try if you might, about me and my past. It won't be easy. And I might not always cooperate. But if you want to try, you're welcome to it. And I'm glad you're not an enemy anymore. I got enough of those."

Varg smiled his usual, calm smile. "You're right. There's a time for everything."
His hands were on his back, in a almost military position, and his back straight. His body felt more present now than before, as if being around other beings had made him more... Real. He started feeling more comfortable around Kel, and his posture had gone from having a slightly predatory movement, to being more human. His old, gracious nature started showing, after years in the shadows. Yet, the grey smoke traced his movements.
"I feel it too - movement in the forest. Something is coming. What do think it might be?"

Kel smiled and turned towards Varg "that is the mystery" he walked back to Varg, he studied the other man a bit. It was getting clearer that he was military trained. But truly, he liked both. The predator and the soldier.

He stopped in front of Varg after walking once around him, noticing how the smoke danced and lingered around his body. Kel had a feeling Varg was dark, dangerous and calculated. He liked it.

The hulder placed a hand on Varg's chest. He used his thumb, stroking slowly up and down without moving his hand. He lifted his gaze slowly up, meeting Varg's eyes. "would you help me with that?"

Varg smiled, with a glimpse in his eye. There was a wildness to Kel, a passion, that he liked. He knew he would have trouble resisting him - but he didn’t mind.
«Just tell me what to do.»

Kel felt drawn towards Varg, but managed to keep standing still. His biological wiring begged him to do more. But Kel was trying to stay on his best behavior. He didn't want to scare Varg away. It had taken such a long time for him to get Varg to show himself. By that time he had grown very fond of the other. Which for him was weird. Because he didn't really know anything about Varg. But all the time and effort it had taken, he did not want to go back to the beginning and start over again.

When he had been alone, and lonely. It had always been the presence he couldn't name, that had been there. He didn't know how intellectual it had been, and at that point he didn't care. It was company. And he even flirted a lot with it. At the time it was purely fun and carefree. Now, on the other hand... When Varg had a physical form... The rules felt different.

He couldn't push to hard. And he probably shouldn't flirt with without consent. Hopefully a bit here and there wouldn't do any harm. But if the shadow disprove of it, he would try not to. It was better to have a friend, or even an associate, than nothing at all.

Tired. So tired. Of being lonesome.

The others helped. Valla. He cared for her. Genuinely. But it wasn't enough, He needed people with a much longer lifespan to share his days, to understand the sacrifices, the turns of this world, the never ending patterns.

He missed.... He didn't know, not truly... But he missed something very badly. Maybe the gap, the hole in him... Could close just the tiniest bit. Perhaps he could have a meaning to this life again, to this world.

Anything other than what he so far had living... just coexisting with this realm.

Breathing, but not living.

Even though it looked liked he had given up by the lifestyle he had led the past five centuries. Deep down it was just a lie. Kel had been silent and stayed put, for the only sole reason that he was simply afraid. Scared of his past life and his future one. His instincts had told him to run, for such a long time. For all his life, that he remembered. He hardly knew anything else anymore.

Kel looked Varg in the eyes, letting a bit of his emotions dwell deeply in his gaze, almost hidden. But noticeable for someone with the same burdens or knew what to look for. It might even be clear as day for a being like Varg. It held, pain and hurt. Loneliness and betrayal. As well as a bit of the stubborn courage to not give up or give in, the consistency of him. Of Kel. A force that never gets tamed.

"Help me see. Patterns, singes.." He meant that literary, as Vargs shadow could cover much more than him in much lesser time. He paused, and moved his hand from Vargs chest to his shoulder and down his arm, before slipping back to Kels own side. Something in his eyes shifted, and suddenly Kel seemed vulnerable. But he did not break eye-contact, not once. "Open my eyes."

Varg looked deeply at the man in front of him. He was so ridden with pain, yet so lively. He knew that digging in his past would cause him great sorrow, but it seemed as if the sorrow had already reached him; it was simply dormant, and confusing.
"I have nowhere I need to be," Varg said, with a mild smile. The truth was that even if he had, he would probably still follow Kel. It felt as if forces greater than them were dragging him towards the strange creature, and he knew he wouldn't have been able to walk away with peace in his mind. "We will make a fine team," he said. "You have powers much greater than you know."

Kel smiled fondly. He could feel it, an understanding passing between them. It often felt like Varg could see more of him than anyone he had met. One day, he might do the same. To Varg.

But what had the other been through, and what life had he led? If Varg could see through him, he too must have been experienced pain, suffering, losses and love.

It would be a journey. A journey to know Varg.

Kel looked up at Varg and titled his head slightly to the side "So... we'll be a team?"

He let what else Varg said sink in. Moments going by, he heard Varg's reply, a small smile passing on his lips, as he contained in deep taught.

If he had more powers, he would have to find a way to unlock them. That would be a process and a struggle in itself.

This road they were bearly stepping toes on now. It would be a tough one.

For both of them.

"Maybe, if you don't have anywhere to be, you could find a place to belong to." It was something he meant, but it didn't need to be by his side. To have a place to belong to, often helped. As a sense of meaning, and reason to struggle through life. "Perhaps I too, will find a place to call... home" The word tasted weird on his tongue, almost bitter. He had never had one, as he could remember. It was the place he had woken up in, weak and foggy minded, but that had certainly not been a home. Nor was the place he had stayed since then. I was cozy, and somewhere to be and rest. But he had not connection to it. He always knew somehow, that he did not belong here.

The word home brought pictures to his mind. Pictures of his son and the woman he had loved once. Although they were laughing and playing, they were painful to watch. The word home made him nauseous and annoyed.
Only once since then had the dared to hope for a new home. It had proven to be foolish.
Yet, he didn’t want to lose Kel, not yet. He had to join him, to see where this was going. His time with the wolves had been quiet and lonely, and although he would miss them deeply, he also knew that he would never truly belong.
They had known, and he had known, that at some point, he had to leave.
So he looked at Kel, with a cold certainty, and said «Yes. We are a team. I fear that we must be, if we are to be ready for what’s to come.» His eyes softened as he gave Kel a mild smile; «And also, I quite enjoy your company.»

Kel studied Varg, he had noticed the change. Not sure were it had came from or why, but it was also a reason he wished he knew Varg better, if he pushed on places he really shouldn't, he might eventually loose Varg. And that was one thing he didn't want to loose. Varg could so simply disappear and it was so little Kel could do about it, in the end.

He nodded softly at the last thing Varg said to him, without realizing it, he had actually wanted or waited for some kind of confirmation, that shadow wanted to be there, or more precisely, with him. He hadn't been sure so far, and for some reason, it did feel nice to hear it. "I'm glad you think so. And Varg, do tell me if I'm offensive... I don't know you yet, and I don't know what might not be welcomed to say or do. I'm alright with that. But do put me in place whenever it's needed." Kel could deal with it, if Varg was angry or crude, it would be fine eventually. But being abandoned was something he didn't do well with, so it was his worse fear at the moment, concerning Varg.

The hulder looked up into Vargs eyes, a soft smile playing on his lips. He had never tried to be equals with anyone so far, not as he could remember. But it would be interesting.

Varg looked over the paintings spread across the room, some faceless or mangled. The past was bound to rise to the surface eventually... But what of the present? He thought about the two humans accompanying them. How would they fit into this?
Perhaps getting to know them would reveal more.
He was curious of Valla. He decided to ask.
«The human woman... How do you know her?»

Kel closed his eyes briefly. Valla. She had a complicated past. It sure wasn't pretty. Nor was his part in it. He hadn't even liked her at first, now, on the other hand, he simply adored her. He bit his lip before moving his gaze back to Varg's "I'll tell you, but you'll have to pretend you don't know in front of her. She might tell you her story eventually. But it's always a chance she won't." Valla was a very private person. And Kel didn't believe she ever had told anyone else about her past. It also pained him to know that she would leave him soon. She had grown so much since they met, and that had been not so long ago. She didn't have a very long life. But she could also die in a battle or settle down somewhere quiet and peaceful, forgetting all about him. He was also proud, she had turned into a strong and resourceful woman. Headstrong and loyal to a fault.

Varg chuckled; «Never mind, I don’t wanna know.»
He wandered a bit through the room. «What do you plan to do with them? Are they part of the team as well?»
His thoughts were mostly on Soren. Vargs path was scorched with violence and chaos, things Soren nor Valla would have been able to endure. No matter how capable they may seem. Humans were fragile.

Kel dragged a hand through his hair. Valla would want to fight, but he didn't want her to throw her life away in this. And Soren, he was not a fighter. "No. If I got anything to do with it, they won't. I'm taking enough of a risk with Soren... And Valla, she still got her life ahead of her, this shouldn't be her war to weigh." he answered honestly and taught about it. Deceiving Valla would be the end of their tale. Still, human life was short and so much more precious. If she just lived, that would be enough for him." that's me being protective, but that is how I want it"

Valla woke up after sleeping for a while. Being a bit restless, she walked over to Soren and shook him lightly "hey cutey, wake up"

Valla = Mist

Soren opened his eyes and saw the silhouette of a woman over a deep, dark blue sky. It took his a second to realize where he was, and with whom he was with. It made his heart skip a beat.
"Mist..."
He looked around. "Where's Kel?"
His eyes were filled with worry. "Is he with that... Shadow thing?"
