Fandom Justice League: The End

[QUOTE="Sir Les Paul](I guess... I mean, I did it for one scene. Am I controlling the original trio now? Tf...)
Clark lived in gated community within Metropolis. While it was no Wayne Manor - neither in size or location - it was definitely an impressive place to call home. Not just because it was a large, two-story building with a well-trimmed lawn, eloquent stone garden and shapely patio, either. The area was close to supermarkets and even a well-reviewed school most of the children from the community went to. It was the high-end lifestyle that Clark didn't live. No, he was a small-town farm boy. This was a whole new environment for him, but it's the one Lois wanted. For their future. Martha lived with them there for years once she was too old to live alone, specifically after John passed. The Kent Farm, however, was still in their family and still tended to. There were so many memories both there and here, in this house. In his age, Clark didn't live so much in a Fortress of Solitude as much as he did in a gated, urban community just inside Metropolis City Limits.

Clark was the one to answer the door. Of course he was; his physiology was just barely at forty and likely would stay there for decades. Lois, on the other hand, was getting up there in age. Her hair was grey and her body a bit more feeble, but she was in far better shape than Bruce. Probably because she didn't put her body through the intense stress that he did in his lifetime. Nevertheless, he opened the door for her with a smile before greeting her, "Come in, come in. Very few people actually visit me at my home... most don't make the effort. What brings you here, Lexi? I doubt it's just to visit." While Clark was considerably more polite than both of the others, he was almost as blunt. Of course, there was a sincerity in his voice. Maybe Lexi didn't realize it, but visiting Clark Kent at his home was a fairly off thing to do. He was the original Superman, the most iconic hero of his era, and now he was retired with his wife.

"Hello, Clark. Honestly though, it is," she replied, looking at him - exhausted. The similarity to Bruce Wayne, when at the mere moments, even he looked exhausted. But at the current moment, she tired both emotionally and physically.

"I quit the League, Clark. Its a mess," sighed Lexi, walking inside and taking a slight seat. "I reckon you heard, about the bomb explosion in Bludhaven? Well, I got caught in the blast - I was defusing it, and well it exploded. Nearly took me out, but my old suit and prototype equipment saved me."

She then started relaying their previous adventures - namely the massive clusterfucks, lack of support, hostility between fellow members. Even Diana' hostility to being more comforting or compassionate. "We are divided, we can't together anymore. Its a bloody civil war, and nobody can reign them in. I've tried several times, but after that bomb - I have begun to feel my own mortality. I can't keep fixing the League' mistakes, until at one point I am gone."

"So I just left - if Diana' snapping is anything to take away. Then no use sticking around, since I am no good either at the moment," she sighed - continuing to talk with Clark. He just had that aura of being something good - not corrupted or twisted by the years of fighting the good fight. "Batman' words are also something to simply state - choose your own path."

"I am no help dead. But I want to help. I can't the League to work. And I just trying so hard and its failing around me..." she stated, a complete wreck. She had all this knowledge and power behind her eyes - and yet also the damned heart of wanting to do good. Then she delivered the final jab at her own path. "...Clark...I am starting to doubt this hero business."

"Don't worry Rai, I'm getting close." Superman assured her softly and switched channels over to Lexi but all he could hear was static."Lexi? Lexi!" He shouted out. Now he grew worried.'Was this finally the last straw for her? Oh Lexi...' He thought sadly...but no time for that right now. He could see the warehouse and he slowed himself down to land. Approaching, he would call out."Raiii?"

She had all this knowledge and power behind her eyes - and yet also the damned heart of wanting to do good. Then she delivered the final jab at her own path. "...Clark...I am starting to doubt this hero business."
"I understand what you mean... because I have been there. Almost all of us have been there. Not just superheroes, but regular people, too. It's not exclusive to the League... do you now how many paramedics stay in the field long? Not many. I couldn't give you a number, but I would boldly say that a real medic in an ambulance saves just as many lives as most of us. You and me. They see terrible things, too. Children dead... overdoses... families torn apart. Some of them go on to become nurses instead, some find a whole new career. Oh and it takes a special heart to work for protective services... to see those children abused. Physically, mentally... sexually, sometimes. It's terrible. But, people fight for them. People with no powers, no wealth, no gadgets. Normal people face these same problems even if on a different scale," Clark explained. It was in this moment that the reality bore down of just how different Clark really was from the others.

Bruce was pure logic. He dedicated his life to fighting crime and improving the quality of life for Gotham, both as Batman and with his businesses. Every single action he took was for the better of his city in one way or another. Being a vigilante or a hero was irrelevant to him. And, that showed in his attitude. Bruce Wayne eat, breathed and slept to protect Gotham so that one less kid might not have to lose his parents. While Clark felt the same, it was for different reasons. And, Diana? She was a warrior. She wasn't even human, really. She was divine; if anything, she was the least human of the group. Humanity made Bruce the way he was, but a warrior culture from a long-forgotten time made Diana. She fought with honor - not necessarily to protect the weak. While her morals were skewed, most of the villains faced by the League crossed her in one way or another - many of them threatening Themyscira. While the world had softened her some, there was a time when she wouldn't have protected those parents if they were simply too weak to do it themselves. If anything, she'd just make the fight even, not stop it. The difference was there. But Clark? Clark had honor, too. Like Diana, the ends didn't always justify the means.

But he differed from both of them even more. For Clark, it wasn't just about preventing tragedies or securing honor. It was about creating a safe world for everyone. Where the strong didn't prey on the weak because they didn't need to. Where everyone had a chance to excel. Where people, even normal people, played just as big of a part as them. Bruce didn't look at a case of child abuse and see the case worker trying to make things right for that kid; he saw a criminal that needed to be punished. He struck fear into the hearts of criminals in Gotham. While no one ever saw it, he was just as quick to console that child. To tell them it would be okay. Promise them they were safe. But Clark saw the every day heroes that comforted that child without a mask. That thought the victims deserved more attention than the criminals. And, he didn't just see honor. He saw integrity. Truth. Loyalty. Superman was not a warrior like Diana; he didn't seek out a fight. He sought peace. And, combined, this is what made Clark Kent - what made Superman - the greatest hero of his era. In just a few sentences, this was apparent to anyone listening to him sincerely.

"But those people all know how to deal with their stress... helping others is what they want to do. They have hobbies. Distractions. Family. What do you have? One of the greatest problems I faced is that I was so wrapped up in being Superman that I didn't know who Clark Kent was anymore. I forgot what it was to plow fields. To wait patiently for crops to grow. To pray for rain when it was dry and wish it would stop when it flooded. I quit the League, too. When I did, I focused on my work as a reporter. I've won a Pulitzer... probably would have at least another if Lois did win four herself. Anyway, after all of that, I went back to the League. I was even part of the League when Jon was born..." Clark said, trailing off. He got a little wrapped up in himself. A little part of him felt guilty over how much time he spent as a hero before retiring. He always felt like he could have been a better father. Like he could have spent more time with his family. A little trickle of that guilt was in his eyes, but he moved on quickly.

"But what about you? I know your story. Lex made you to be the next Luthor. Just like Lionel sculpted Lex to become the man he was. You grew up your whole life thinking you would be someone special. A great hero, or fearing you'd be a great villain. But, Lexi, have you ever paused and considered what you would be if not for being told you were born for something else? I know your hardwired to understand business and science, but what has ever stopped you from becoming an artist? Picking up an a brush and an easel. Or, writing a book. Living in fantasy. Have you ever even touched a piano? I know it's an odd memory, but Lex could play quite well. It was one of his better traits. He could even sing. But it doesn't need to be just art. If you wanted to truly be in business, what for? Not for profits or to help the environment, but what product or service would you really want to see grow? If science, what subject? Neuroscience, maybe? The possibilities are endless because you are human..." Clark trailed off.

At that point, Lois had overheard most of the conversation. She was always good at sneaking up on Clark, although her old age made it a little harder. Halfway through his rant, it was pretty easy for Lexi to see her leaning against a doorway. For a woman of her age, she looked well. Medicine and Clark to take care of her assured her of that. She looked a third of the age of Bruce, for sure. If she was in public, no one would put her past fifty save her pure white hair. Clark was so caught up in his explanation that he didn't even notice her waltz into the doorway, but he heard her once she spoke. "Hun, what he means to say... is who would you be if you weren't a hero? You may want to protect people, but I doubt it's the same as old Brucie... what's your passion?"

(Damn beautiful that was)

Lexi listened to everything that Clark spoke, and at often times she wondered - how could Luthor ever hate him. He wasn't as smart as Bruce nor ruthless as Diana - but he carried that streetwise knowledge, that made of as respected as one who had spend years booklearning.

"Honestly, I am half-living that dream," she said, gently smiling. "I want to be an architect. Not a simple of buildings, but an architect of the future. Before I first became a hero, I mostly knew everything. The possibility of human knowledge was mine - yet I felt empty. Without a goal, I was smart, I knew that - but it felt hollow, without somebody to acknowledge it."

"I wanted to do something, that would benefit the world I was born on. And honestly, the future Lex Luthor had for me, would have likely ended in the same way as he had. A simple man, of great intelligence - simply remembred as a madman, who tried to kill an alien," she sighed. "It just wasn't for me. I wanted to do something better, greater. That when I was dead - people could remember and say 'glad she lived'."

"Most of my heroics, have been linked to the notion - that when I get up and save the day, I want everybody to feel better. Whenever, I catch someone - I make sure, I can help pay for the damage I or they did. When I lock up the criminal, I want to see, why they did it and make sure they redeem themselves and have a better life," spoke Lexi. "I see, the possibility of goodness or the very least, betterment for human life in all of us."

"I have created many things, with my mind and my hands - they are my art, of what you wish. They have created life better for many, the average, the poor, the rich and the condemned," she said, feeling better at that.

"I cherise all life - no matter, what they have hidden in their hearts. I am myself, a prime example, of the forgotten shadow creating the purest light," said Lexi - meaning her own birth. Of being the daughter of a supervillain, and becoming a great hero beyond of what, he or any others could have expected.

She soon rose from her seat, and went over to hug Clark. "But you are right, I might need to find my reason again. A family maybe..." she sighed happily, before walking over and gently hugging Lois. "You need anything medical, you let me know. And I mean anything..."

She was about to leave then, her mood better - before she stopped, thought about something then sat down again. "I know...this might come as a suprise but. There is an old friend, playing chess alone in Metropolis Park. He is old and bitter at that, but I think...it won't hurt, if an old friend visited," she asked. She disliked her father, for what he did and wanted her to become - but she still had his DNA. And at that point, she was asking Clark Kent to go visit Lex Luthor - to maybe clear out the air, so the last days for both of them, could be ended in atleast peace.

Before Lexi could leave, Lois walked right back over to her. A lot of the things Lexi said and offered were wasted on the Kents; anything they needed, Bruce would cover equally. Even if money was a problem, the League would probably intervene solely on good faith. This was Lous Lane-Kent they were talking about, after all. But, that wasn't the point Lois was going to make. No, Lois grabbed Lexi's shoulder and looked right down at her.. "You talk a lot, hun. No offense. But, I didn't win my awards by writing novels," Lois said. She then let go of Lexi's shoulder. "Clark has that bad habit, too. Long monologues and dull speeches. Sometimes, it's just too much. Analyze your audience and figure out how to reach them best. Sometimes a single sentence can have more impact than a whole speech," Lois said, ending her speech. Lois then looked over at Clark, then back to Lexi. "Clark really should go see Lex more," she added in a somewhat passive-aggressive tone.

"Speaking of Lex, you do know he gained my powers for a while. Not just my powers, but them at their fullest. It was only for a few minutes, but do you know what he did? He didn't fight, not really. He just watched. A mind like his just perceived the world. He could see the very atoms that make us all up - just like I can. He was in awe of truly understanding physics firsthand... and what you said just now reminded me of that. Lex wanted to build a better world, too. He was always looking in the future," Clark said, changing the subject. There seemed to be an odd tension between Lois and Clark about Lex. "Maybe you should find that passion... but maybe you should consider living for the moment, too. Whenever I got the chance, I'd go fishin' with pa... Just to spend time with him. Some days, I regret not goin' out to the ole creek more often. All that time with a pole didn't help me save the world or marry Lois, but they still meant the world to me. Find those moments, Lexi. When you're our age, they're the ones you'll remember most clearly. The stillness of the lake. The tugs on the poles. How pa laughed when one got away from the Man of Steel... I can remember that plain as day. But, if you asked me what color that stuff was in Braniac's first ship, I'd be clueless. Just goes to show what matters," Clark explained to her.

In a way, this was humanizing. The Man of Steel. The greatest superhero of him all. He could still somehow get snarled at by his wife and in an instant turn into one of the softest old men you could imagine when he talked about his own father. Lois, too. Lois was a regular person, but she had more bravery than most of the League combined. She went places some of them wouldn't with no powers just to tell a story, and the stories she told were ground-breaking. Hell, won four Pulitzers while Clark barely got one. And, it was obvious she could still tug the man by a leash when she brought up Lex. If one thought Clark was the most powerful, they were sorely mistaken. And, oddly, wasn't that the stereotype for marriage? Maybe it was old, outdated and politically incorrect, but it was still grounding. Even Superman had a human side.

(Inser knowegable banter about an instrument I know nothing about here.)Will spoke about the guitar for several minutes, just avoiding taking a breath. Strangly, he didn't feel the burn and nag of needing air, but his lungs did feel tight due to straining not to breathe for fear of the scent of blood. Uh-c-can we move somewhere else.
The angel did try to pay attention throughout, and to a fair extent succeeded. Filing away the knowledge on the instrument. It seemed that it was a very popular instrument during the current time, and was used to span any number of genres. It would be among the early list to learn then. Nodding his head, he cast one final glance towards the training room below. It seemed that the fight was over anyway. "Yes, let us go elsewhere. I have no seen much of this base, and would think that a guide would be a useful.

I'm glad you did tap! She's f*cking dangerous. Very few fight her and live. Isroh was trying to explain exactly what Brian had just fought without injuring his pride anymore. Look, I'm sorry, but fighting her is a deathwish. She's been killing stronger demons than even Rai for over 50 years.Isroh wanted to help, he truly did, but if he stayed around Brian much longer in that state, it wouldn't end well for either of them. Yet Isroh didn't want to be anywhere alone in the tower with that cat around. He found his way back to the main room where Rai was sharpening her scythes and flipping through an old book, preparing to go check out that warehouse. Then Batgirl waltzed in... bleeding. He jumped and quickly tried diverting his attention. Why does everyone insist on bleeding today!? Isroh growled.

The entrance beeped lightly as Luke returned, carrying yet another set of bags. After all, no one had mentioned anything about stopping. He had heard a call earlier, but figured that with the amount of people they had, a single person already doing something, wouldn't really be needed. Stepping into the med bay, he whistled, looking over the massive change in wounds, and in who was wounded. The demon kid was gone...but the winged dude, and Robin, and maybe a few others.
"Jeez, everyone keeps getting hurt." Crouching beside the place where the rest of the blood had been stored, he kept his gaze on the others in the room. "Did I miss some big important mission or something? Was that the call earlier?"

Brian simply grunted at Luke's entrance and question and if there'd been something in reach he might have thrown it at the visitor. Instead he stayed still sitting on the edge of a cot as one of the med bots wrapped up his shoulder, "Some protocol or other was announced." Internally he felt like a fool for only just remembering Lexi over the intercom, but he hadn't even listened, to busy fighting with the Mothra version of Garfield. So not only had he lost and been humiliated but he'd ignored his duty in the process, and potentially put peoples lives in danger because of it. But Zero had done that, instigating, pushing at his button's, she'd coaxed him into the fight even if it was easy to do so. And frankly it pissed Brian off.

"This was just from training...." He'd half mumbled while looking away as if to find something more important to look at, not going to admit the full truth. "What's your excuse for not going out?" He spoke, zeroing back in on Luke almost accusingly.

Ken was all sorts of confused, the woman from the Justice League had dropped them off all the way over here so that they wouldn't get involved with what was going on at the crater. She's stated that she'd contacted the local responder's to come do their thing. But Zanra seemed adamant about going back and helping with the effort, which Ken wasn't against but he was just at a loss. "If you two want to help then I think you should. Honestly I'm more curious who set the bomb up and why. Another question would be as to why only two Leaguer's showed up to such a threat."

Luke heard the tone, and chose to meet it with a grin. Not really one of happiness, but he'd leave it at that. "Blood, dude." Finishing up putting the bags away, he rose. Hands slid into his pocket, and he leaned back against the counter. "Last time I checked, there was two dudes who kinda lived off it? Maybe three? And I imagine a few others who don't mind a little red on the side." His grin was nearly feral. After all, it wouldn't be the first time he had the taste of iron in his mouth. "I figured no one would really mind the guy whose out grocery shopping not showing up."

I was actually fighting those demons earlier with two demons at my side Dan Cassidy aka Blue Devil and Jason Blood who is cursed into sharing a body with Etrigan until the end of time. I'll be back in a minute". Batgirl walks into her room takes a quick shower and gets into a clean her spare costume before coming back. "The demons are apparently lead by the demon known as Damien. I believe this demon was involved with turning Will into a demon and this could be the start of a plan to turn all humans on the planet into demons. He has an army at his command which is kind of oblivious when I mentioned I was attacked by 52 demon foor soldiers. Dan's trident of Lucifer should be able to locate more of his foot soldiers which is why he ordered his demons to steal it from Dan in the first place". Superman's expression turned serious, this man had hurt Will and now he intended to hurt Sky as well."He's hunting non metas...peachy." He said in a snarl. He followed Rai's lead and came across a blank wall. He felt over it carefully."It's been recently put up." He observed and nodded to Rai. A simple swipe with his fist and the wall crumbled down to reveal a strange portal."...The rift.." He said in a murmur.

Rai held her breath as the dust of te wall settled and the portal was revealed. It glimmered violet and Crimson like a shimmering mirage. "Not just to the rift. This is a tri-portal... Hell, earth and the rift between the two." She ran her hand across the stone on the outside. "They've been doing some serious demon transporting. Pulling demons on this side of the portal, bad demons mind you. And pulling non-meta humans on the other side. I won't take you to hell... But do you want to go to the rift with me?" She asked, knowing more information would bring itself up there.

"Not all demons are evil just like how not all meta-humans are super villains. Demons are not as scary as Sky's dad's chili that stuff still gives me nightmares (Green Arrow's chili is very disgusting). I have no problem with fighting with demons I know will not betray me and that I know will always try to do the right thing. Batgirl looked at Sky with a slightly worried look knowing the league is a bit divided at the moment and is facing an army of demons and another army of assassins.

"Leave my dad's chili alone." Sky still taught of what he was going to do. The League was falling apart, and Lexi leaving threw a ranch into his plans. He continued to listen to Batgirl as she continued to recall her encounters. When she stopped, his eyes raised from the ground to see her worried look and he knew, he couldn't let the others down. Sighing, he put his hands behind his back, standing straight. "Well, this is worrying. Once Rai is back with Superman, we should be able to work on this case." 'We still need a leader.' Skyler taught.

Iiiii wouldn't throw anything on top of the Damien rampage that's about to come. This wildfire is going to get bigger after what's planned. I'm gonna type up the plan in ooc and tag everyone in it so all our Rpers come back and can get a good start.

Isroh stood, tail lashing around behind him. So what exactly are we doing at the moment? I'm suprized, knowing this damned city, somthing blows up every five seconds. He jokes, tossing an empty tumbler into the sink, having drank all the blood stored inside. Seriously, we never hit luls like this.I'm gonna go to town and see what kind of trouble I can stir up. anyone wanna go?
