I tried it. Decent game. But I was still unimpressed.

After playing the table top dnd I had no interest in baldur's gate

there are other reasons, but I just dont see the appeal of it. It just seems like the fun part is breaking the system within the rails provided. dnd is actually a bland game if you follow it to a tee, but finding the loop holes is what makes people interested in it.
