Kay knew that her smirk at the comment about people watching wouldn't go misunderstood on any of the group. She knew them all well enough to know they all had some kind of inclination to people watch for whatever reason and whatever extent. She also figured that out of all of them, Cal would have no doubt used people watching habits to stay under the radar whilst homeless, just like she herself did. It wasn't all fun and games, imagining lives people had, or trying to eavesdrop on petty dramas that someone thought was the biggest catastrophy in the world like she would have probably liked it to be, people watching for Kay also meant keeping watch on beings or people that were after her, even before she knew of the Downworld and what it was actually after her. Now she knew, she was even more glad she wasn't homless and having to deal with demons all alone, finding that the knowledge of what was hunting her was even more terrifying than not knowing in some ways. Yet like Elliott, she also enjoyed people watching for artistic purposes once upon a time, when she was younger.
The way John leaned forward after her comment about Americans, she just knew he was about to go into one of his quips about them, which made her brace herself mentally for him saying something incredible offensive and crass. She did of course, consider herself part American, she held an AMerican passport and citizenship after all, but she knew deep down she would always deep down British through and through when it came to her human identity, but she was proud of her American citizenship, Seattle and it's residents did do a lot of her even if it also brought a lot more trauma for her. Ontop of that, ther family that raised her were American, so she was fiercely protective over that. Yet before he could get a word out to make her either somewhat agree partially or make a counter argument, Jay started fitting after she fell off the arm of the bench. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, how Jay's body seemed to go almost transparent. Fia who had remain quiet on the majority of the conversation, deciding to not get involved, and knew it could get heated when the topic of Americans got brought up, stopped what she was reading and gasped when Jay seemed to go from perfectly fine, to convulsing. "Bloody hell! What the hell is going on?" Fia asked, worried for the woman. Even in her timeline, she didn't recall ever seeing anything like this happening to Jay before, so it was even unnerving to her to see.
