The robotics/medical facility

"Dad told me about that. He kinda explained why you reacted so badly to my use of the nicnickname so I could understand better." Fia replied honestly, when she got told about it, she felt unbelievably bad on a large scale. Like Rinaa, she didn't have much of a filter which showed in that first interaction. She wanted her to know that she knew, but it was for very valid reasons. If she didn't know, she never would have known why she misspoke so badly. As Rinaa explained about not being able to say much even to her, she understood why completely. She had read up on the do's and don't's of time travel before she made her leap of a journey so she didn't mess up.

"I totally get that. And likewise about your timelines Fia. But I don't know much about her so that's easy to not mess up on on my side of things" she replied, smirking at the last part. She felt glad that there at least one thing she wouldn't screw up easily, which was a massive relief to her.

The robotics/medical facility
Rinaa expected no less from John on that particular point. And it wasn't as if she'd explicitly stated not to speak about what was happening to her. They'd all seen her transformation in part, seeing just what exactly they were dealing with. Jay knew the most out of all of them, having managed to brawl with her half transformed daughter, and throw her against a wall in order to get a suitable opportunity to inject her. "Yeah.....not my finest moment, count yourself lucky you haven't seen what happens when the inhibitor wears off. It's......words don't really do the situation justice."

As she though back on that, she ran her fingers over the scarring across her throat. How her voicebox had remained unscathed was beyond her. With each passing day, she could see more and more of the wolf features appearing- the pointed ears, the fangs, the claws in her hands and hair that was beginning to take on a blue indigo tone. Even her eyes were changing, darkening to an inky black at times, before returning to their trademark green. Another difference between Rinaa and Leah, Leah had stormy grey eyes, while Rinaa could change her eye colour pretty much at will. "Yeah you don't, and that's a good thing, and besides my timeline is pretty twisted. There's a lot of shit going wrong, not just with family matters." Rinaa began transferring the pieces to the proper work bench where the violins were. No construction was allowed to take place in the printer room in case any machinery got damaged. She also assembled a wide selection of tools and general motorbike parts and steels to use.

"We all have those moments" Fia replied to Rinaa's little comment. It was true after all, everyone had one of those moments where they wished they could ignore it ever happened or forget it completely. She had a few herself, not quite to the extent of Rinaa's, but her setting her bed alight as a kid was considered one of them, along with another moment only a year ago. She was training with Elliott one day, early in the morning. Mostly staff training to keep her reflexes up, on the roof of the apartment, when John came up out of nowhere, telling them Kay was cooking breakfast so to wrap it up.

Fia wasn't expecting it as it didn't always happen and as she turned round to avoid a smack to the legs with Elliott's staff, she went smack into the metal casing of the air venting system, falling right over it. Which made both Elliott and John piss themselves laughing. Her ego and pride taking a battering more than anything else, but she did get one hell of a bruise down her thighs and hip. "I may not have fallen off the roof like your Fia or nearly killed my mum, but I don't some clumsy as things I wish to forget" she clarified. She then went with Rinaa and helped her bring the pieces over to the work table to be of use.

The robotics/medical facility
Rinaa found herself saying an internal prayer to whatever gods favoured her (ie none of them, but she was going to try her luck anyway) that Fia would never see just how bad transformation was for her. She was just about okay with the adults seeing how bad it got, but not at all okay with Fia seeing just what kind of monster she was turning into. "How do you manage not to fall off a roof? I'm pretty sure I've fallen off 80% of the rooves I've been on." That wasn't even an exaggeration. She usually fell off during combat or during training as a kid. Luckily her reflexes meant she could catch hold of something on the way down and stop herself from going splat on the pavement. Either that or she aimed for a dumpster.

Having Fia around as lackey for carrying made things significantly faster. Rinaa layed out everything on the workbench in neat, methodical rows that would quickly get ruined, but the idea of order was there. She started by creating the main internal support frame. "Well here goes nothing, hopefully I don't fuck this up." Rinaa had never built a bike from scratch before, just customised them or stripped them for parts.

the robotics/medical facility

Fia smirked at the question, thinking that'd be what Rinaa would pick up on out of the things she mentioned. "Sheer luck to be honest. I don't even know how I've managed to not do it. I've purposely thrown myself off it once to scare the living shit out mum and dad, which I succeeded in doing" she laughed, remembering the day fondly. "I had finally accessed my wings from my phoenix side and thought it'd be a great prank to pull. I didn't tell either of them, just told them to come up onto the roof. When they got there I jumped and I've now officially heard every curse word in the universe leave both their lips. I then flew back up and landed back in front of them, wings spread wide. I was SOOOOO grounded but was worth it" Fia chuckled.

"Then there was the time I accidentally smacked into and fell over the air vent chamber on the roof in front of dad and Elliott, making them practically wet themselves with laughter. All because dad made me jump appearing out of the blue" she smirked, whilst helping her out. She knew she may not be able to do too much but she could hand stuff over at least.

The robotics/medical facility
The fact that Fia would choose to reveal her wings that way didn't surprise Rinaa at all. She'd been off world when her Fia had gained them (as she had been for many events in the other Fia's life). Both had a flair for over dramatic revelations. A flair that Rinaa herself also had. Life sometimes needed a hint of something or another to spice it up. She smiled slightly at the stories, on most it would be an uninterested dismissal, but on Rinaa it was different. She didn't ever smile around family (except Jay when they were alone, and Elliott now that she could actually have him in her life). It was one of the many things she'd suppressed and hidden growing up. Instead the side of her lips would quirk sidewards in amusement.

"Well you've seen what happens when I get tangled in trees, I didn't hear the end of that for months. I wish I'd landed on the idiot, would have been perfect payback, but that's life. And there was also that time I skydived out of a plane....with no parachute." The frame slowly began to take shape, Rinaa inspecting it from all angles checking it for symmetry then lifting it up to check for balence. Just like Jay and Elliott she was far stronger than she looked with serious muscles.

the robotics/medical facility

Fia noticed Rinaa smile slightly at her stories. She didn't know if it was amusement at the thought of her being a completely clumsy mess or how John,Kay or Elliott reacted but she took it anyway. She also got the feeling that Rinaa didn't smile often, so the fact Fia made her smile, felt like quite the achievement. She smiled herself when Rinaa kept the conversation going by replying, but the moment she said she went skydiving without a parachute, Fia was now desperate to hear that story.

"What?! Okay, I need to hear that story" Fia grinned. She also paid attention to the progress and build of the bike and she was ridiculously impressed by Rinaa's ability to build such a thing. She kept helping Rinaa where and when she could, liking being helpful and useful.

The robotics/medical facility
Rinaa had ended up propping the frame up on two jacks and sliding herself under it in order to work on the underside properly. There were some things that were just easier to do that way. The frame was taking shape slowly with frequent referring to reference sketches she'd found time draw out. She had no artistic talent, her drawings were purely mechanical, angles, straight lines and always to scale. Mostly she ended up asking Fia to pass her a tool or part, which was then followed by her having to explain what exactly she was referring to. She knew Fia's interest would be be piqued at that story, as would anybody's.

She pulled herself from under the frame, propping her elbows where the seat would be going. "It was the eighteenth birthday of one of the guys in lab, he kind of mentored me for the first few months, hence why I got the invite. He'd decided that the best thing to do was to go skydiving, his parents didn't approve" The roll of her eyes and scoff suggested this was a frequent occurrence with her friends parents. "But we raised the money together anyway. So we go up in the plane, get kitted out, mock each others appearance, as ya do. Then comes the jump. I go second, just after the birthday boy. It's only after I jump that the staff realise they gave me an empty pack, so I end up plummeting through the sky with no chute. I pull the cord, nothing, then I realise what's going on and I'm bloody terrified. But the kind of terrified that makes your adrenaline spike and you love the feeling of being so afraid. The addictive kind of fear. Luckily the lads on the plane figure it out and I end up getting grabbed a couple of hundred metres above the ground and we land tandem and in one piece."

the robotics/medical facility

Fia watched Rinaa pull herself out from underneath the jack's and bike frame to tell her the story. She leaned against the workbench and listened to the story intently. When Rinaa said it was down to the staff's problem of giving her an empty pack, she went wide eyed briefly. She knew if that happened on earth to someone, the company would have been shut down in days after being reported for endangering a life.

"Bloody hells! You're bloody lucky you didn't die. Did you let the company just get away with it or report them?" She asked, having a feeling she knew what Rinaa's reply would be, but she had to ask anyway. "Did Jay ever find out?" She asked also. She could imagine a few scenarios of how Jay could have possibly reacted to the idea of her daughter jumping out of a plane without a parachute. "

The robotics/medical facility
Rinaa enjoyed telling this story even though it had been terrifying at the time, she'd genuinely thought she was going to die. Until she felt the arms wrap around her waist and the upwards jerk of somebody else's parachute opening, she'd been convinced that this was the end of it all. The last thought she remembered was 'well this is going to be one hell of a thing to put on my gravestone'. And once on the ground, she and her rescuer were found splayed on the ground in fits of "Oh my holy everliving shit, I can't believe we just survived that" laughter.

"Yeah, I know. I owe him a life debt, though I think I've paid it back.....buuuut that's besides the point. We had to report them for it, there was no other choice in the matter. It couldn't be proved who's fault it was that the kit got mixed up, but the fact that I could have died was inexcusable. The company closed shortly after, but strings were pulled to ensure it wasn't a media shitstorm and all the workers got new jobs, elsewhere." At the next question, she nodded her answer. "She found out shortly after and was bloody furious with the company about it for weeks. She's terrifying when angry and determined. Fr a couple of months after I couldn't do anything outside of classes or work without her being nearby, or Chas. But I sucked it up and took the rap. She calmed down after a while, once the fear of losing somebody else important wore off. And besides, I trained as a pilot, so it's not like I haven't parachuted before."

The robotics/medical facility

Fia could tell from Rinaa's tone that she enjoyed telling the story. Though she could only imagine how scary it must have been to think 'oh my god I'm going to die' one second and literally the next being saved in the knick of time. She nodded when she said they reported the company, and was actually glad she said that. She knew if she was in her timeline and a friend witnessing that, she wouldn't have let Rinaa not report them. Hearing that Jay went apeshit over it all didn't surprise her and was one scenario that Fia thought of.

The idea of possibly losing her kid as well as Elliott and brother would have been too much for Jay, even the Jay that Fia knew. "Doesn't surprise me that Chas got involved for a while either. He gets brought into everything when it comes to either us or dad" she smirked, finding it easier to just say 'us' when she meant both timeline versions of them both, something she figured and hoped Rinaa would get. She knew in her timeline if she didn't want Kay or John to find out about something so she didn't get into trouble, she'd go to Chas. She was the kind of niece that had him wrapped round her little finger and was surprisingly liked by Renee.

The robotics/medical facility
Out of everybody the relationship Rinaa had with Chas in the future was the least complicated of them all. Chas was reliable, dependable and could keep the peace between them all. They all respected his decisions and knew that they couldn't change his way of doing things. He'd been the one to keep in touch the most when she and Jay were off world. It also helped that Jay and Chas still got along well, where as things between Jay and John were more complex.

John had to juggle keeping Kay and Fia happy, and considering the attitude the two had towards Rinaa, it meant the relationship between John and Rinaa was rife with highly complex family politics. But that didn't mean the two didn't get along, they did and very well. They just had to be somewhere that Kay and Fia weren't. John could see the parts of Elliott in her and had watched as she'd learned to mask them more and more. It was something he wasn't at all happy about. But he tried his best to make sure she wasn't totally alienated from everybody.

"He's too good of a person for the likes of us, how he copes with all our shit and the complex power plays is beyond me. Somehow he manages to keep the peace in my timeline, and there was a time when he had to stop Jay from killing somebody over what happened. And he gives both good advice and hilarious bitchy messages about the most mundane things." She went back to working on the frame, glancing at her watch, aware that time was passing and she did have sonehwre to be in a few hours time.

The robotics/medical facility

Fia had to agree with that sentiment. Chas was too good of a person for the likes of them. There was no doubt about that. "Oh definitely. He's seriously got the patience of a saint as they say." Fia replied back. "He's kept sooooo many of my secrets from my folks it's unreal. Especially if I know I've done something that would get me into a lot of shit. I'd go to Chas to get out of it. Oh and his little snarky bitchy messages are indeed hilarious. They rival my Aunt's at times" she added, having a feeling Rinaa may have done similiar.

She didn't clarify who her aunt was, not knowing if there was an Sam in her timeline or not, or if she even knew about Kay's adoptive sister Sam. But for her, she was next closest to Sam after John, mostly because Sam was her home teacher most of the time, so she spent a lot of time with her. It's just how she gravitated to people. Seeing Rinaa check the time, she figured time must have been getting on. "You got somewhere to go after this right? When it comes to it, I can remember the way back if you have to rush off" she told her.

The robotics/medical facility
It was reassuring to know that no matter what timeline he was in, Chas didn't change. She listened to Fia's words nodding in agreement from underneath the bike frame. Chas was good at keeping secrets, espescially if said secret would cause a whole load of tension and drama if revealed. A few white lies never hurt anybody. But he didn't always do it for free, he occasionally cashed in on his debts, mainly for things he didn't want John (or occasionally, Kay) to know about. She gave a slight smirk and snort from under the bike when Fia agreed about his bitch messages. Voicemail from Chas were always a delight, and she had sent him to voicemail on purpose just to get a typical Chas voicemail.

"Yeah, I've got some lectures to go to at the uni, one mechanics, one physics one, maybe a calculus one of my brain isn't utterly fried by the end. It's a while before I'm due there anyway, though it takes a while to actually get there, so I'm staying conscious of that. And there's no way I'm getting crucified for letting you go off alone on a planet where you don't speak the language, and magic is a touchy subject to say the least. If this was any other planet then I'd be cool with it, but not this one, its claimed too many lives."

The robotics/medical facility

Fia was pretty sure that like John, it wouldn't matter what timeline it was, Chas wouldn't change much if at all. He was just 'Chas' and that's how he'd be no matter what. She listened to what she said about what lectures she had, and she did not envy her at all by that list. It sounded insanely intense to Fia, and something she was glad she wasn't doing. When she said she wasn't going to let her go off alone, she just nodded. "Okay, fair point. I just don't wanna take you out of your way that's all" she replied to Rinaa. Like always, Fia was thinking of others before herself, a trait she had picked up from Kay.

She did wonder how the others were getting on back at the apartment briefly, and how Kay was after this morning's events. She also wondered what they were doing whilst her and Rinaa were gone for so long. Again, her curious mind kicking into gear.

The robotics/medical facility
The particular lectures may sound gruelling to Fia, but it was the kind of things Rinaa thrived doing. Seeing how things worked, how to improve them, why things behaved the way they did, how forces could be manipulated were all things she loved to learn more about. Rinaa had always loved maths and sciences, which carried on into her uni choices a dual honours degree in mechanics and engineering, which. Doing such a course may fry her brain at times, but that meant she was learning and facing problems, which with practice she could overcome and understand.

"Considering I've travelled a little over seventeen years and millions of miles to be here, through intensive trial and error, you think going a few clicks in a different direction is gonna put me out? Not likely." She answered from underneath, putting things (rather bluntly) into perspective. " They can't get Elliott out until late evening by the way. Cal's got work with the royals, Dan's got the forge to tend to and Cliff has finally taken a week off work to do wedding planning. We're not missing much, they're probably just sitting around bitching about their lives."

The robotics/medical facility

Fia held her hands up defensively with a smirk. "Touché" she replied, short and simply. She did have a good point about that, even if it was said rather bluntly. She was only thinking about Rinaa and her timings for getting to places in time, and it was something people said if they didn't want to cause anyone any trouble when it came to these situations. She may have had a different upbringing to most kids her age, but she wasn't raised to be selfish or rude. She was willing to just walk back alone minding her own business, but now that Rinaa was saying it'd get her a bollocking and it really wouldn't take her out of her way, she just decided to let Rinaa escort her back when the time came to it.

"I see, yeah probably knowing that lot anyway" she replied back to the comments about what the of hers could be doing, which she found slightly weird as it was like Rinaa read her mind. She knew she didn't have those powers, but she just found it slightly creepy she was only thinking it, then Rinaa somehow managed to answer her thoughts.

The medical/robotics facility
Rinaa hadn't inherited any of her fathers MindWalking gifts, she could push a memory into somebody else's mind, but that was it. She had no telepathic powers, in fact it was practically the opposite. She had extraordinarily strong mental shields, anybody trying to get in to her mind would have to push through walls made up of the pain, anger and sadness Rinaa had felt during her life. And she'd felt those emotions a lot. It was painful for any telepathy or empath to try and get through them. But that didn't mean people couldn't get through. As Fia had been witness to there was at least one person who could get through.

"Or looking through whatever's on TV at the moment, three of them having a decent enough grasp on Attili to understand them. Still can't quite believe Chas has only been learning the language for a week." The bike frame had finally started looking like a proper bike. It was designed for speed and sharp turns- a racer rather than a cruiser- but Rinaa was making sure there were enough internal supports to make it sturdy without being over heavy.

The robotics/medical facility

Fia smirked, Chas always was a quick learner in her eyes. If she wanted to communicate with people of another language she always used her communication rune on its own. It helped her be able to understand and talk in whatever language she needed. Earth bound or downworld, she didn't know if it'd work on Attil but she figured it probably would, if she was even allowed to use it, which she wasn't. "It's impressive alright. He always was a quicker study" she replied.

She continued the watching and helping when she could as the framework started to resemble a bike really well. "Guessing you're going for the racing kind rather than a cruiser?" She asked, showing she does pay attention to what's in front of her and she does know the difference between bikes.

The robotics/medical facility
It was good to know that it wasn't just Rinaa who could see that the bike was taking shape, and looking like a proper motorbike as opposed to a pile of parts loosely connected together. Fia hit the nail spot on with her observation of what kind of bike she was creating. "Yup" she replied, reaching up to grab the welding gear. The structural frame needed strong joins, and she wasn't taking any chances. "Speed, agility, sharp turns, sudden stops, squeezing through small alleyways and tearing away across plain land at stupidly fast speeds." Rinaa was describing what was known in her group as a 'bandit bike' which was euphemism for a vigilante bike. "That's what I'm going for, but building it is only half the problem, it actually has to work, have proper suspension, survive wear and tear and not shake itself apart."

She pulled on the welding mask and gloves "You might wanna step back a bit." She knew Fia was fireproof, but it was just a general safety rule when welding, stay at least two metres away. Rinaa flipped down the visor and lit the torch. She worked slowly and methodically, small sparks flying as the metal was heated to glowing point. Under the mask she was biting her lip in both concentration and fear. The preliminary welds finished she flipped up the visor to take a look, licking away the blood from the fresh cut on her lip. The disadvantages of having fangs, she was frequently piercing her lip, as the scabs on her bottom jaw showed.

Fia listened to what Rinaa said, glad that her observation skills hadn't let her down and were still top notch. Like some of the others, she had the skill to note things other people did, which is how she knew when her parents were lying to her for her own protection or whatever other excuse was used at the time. If Rinaa successfully made this bike the way she wanted, Fia thought she'd have a damn impressive piece of equipment. The list that was spoken, did make Fia notice how it was vigilante level. "Cool, so vigilante style" she smirked.

When she got told to stand back a bit, Fia did as suggested. Despite being fireproof, she wasn't going to go against general safety rules and be stupid by purposely putting herself in the line of fire quite literally just for the sake of it. She stepped back an appropriate amount and watched from the safe distance, noting the concentration and fear through the visor in Rinaa.

The robotics/medical facility
Rinaa had been facing away from Fia when she made her vigilante comment. Nothing showed in her body language, but something flashed through her eyes at the mention of the name word vigilante. She was almost certain Fia had no idea that Rinaa believed Leah was involved in the same line of vigilante work she that herself was. But the comment threw her off guard, not knowing if it was some kind of bluff designed to trip her up or if it merely was an innocent throw away comment. Neither her Fia, John, Kay nor Chas had any idea that's he moonlight Ed as a vigilante mechanic, occasionally with some field work. And that was the way things should stay. She didn't need that revelation coming out. Either way she wasn't going let anything out. "I was thinking more bandit style...... another item from Jay's chequered teenage years. They're more of rogue outlaws than vigilantes."

As she inspecting the welds she locked at the blood welling up every so often, giving flashes of the large canine fangs she'd acquired. Rinaa found spots she wasn't happy with, or places that might just need that little bit extra to be sure to be sure. Down went the visor as she patched up those bits, and after a couple of rounds she gave the bike frame a satisfied once over. "That'll do alright"

The robotics/medical facility

When Fia used the comment and word vigilante, she was thinking about how it was well known that the likes of the Green Arrow, Batman and company would use those kinds of high speed bikes on some missions and how it was either publicised online or in a paper. So it just reminded her of those articles more than anything. She had no idea Rinaa was part of anything similar, so she didn't think anything of it when she said it. "Nice, just the requirements reminded of the kind of vechiles people like the League sometime use and such..well if the news is anything to go by" she smirked.

She just continued watching Rinaa touch up the parts she wasn't fully happy with and tapped her fingers against the work top whilst she watched. A unconscious habit she picked up from somewhere unknown. She wasn't sure if it was Kay, John, Chas or Elliott she got it from or no one at all and it was just a thing she had.

The robotics/medical facility
Judging by her reply Fia was totally in the dark about the whole thing, and it was well publicised about what fancy new toy Batman had acquired. Once the facility 53 crew had kitted out one of the lower-end members of team Arrow, one hell of an experience to say the least. It was customary that all working in the facility wore full face marks to conceal their identity, something that had been mocked, until the more major players had shown up. The Fac 53 team made it perfectly clear that if team Arrow were to breath a word of their existance to the League, they'd up leave, and restart elsewhere before anything could be proven.

"Yeah, I know they do, the news gets that much right with regards to the capes, tights and spandex brigade. It's one of the few things they can get right. Rich people and their toys really. Definitly compensating for something or another." She rolled her eyes, before running a hand over the frame, checking for anything wrong, and to get a sense of the vehicle it would become.

Fia nodded at her reply. At least the journalists get something right she thought. She knew she shouldn't pay attention to it, and the world knows how many times she's told not to pay attention to anything, but she's a curious soul and still reads up on them anyway. She's pretty sure John and Kay know what she does as well, but says nothing as the subject doesn't come up. When Rinaa said about the compensating thing she couldn't help but snigger. She did have a childish sense of humour.

"I think the same. And all those padded fake muscles on the suits? Please..they're TOTALLY compensating for something." she added with a smirk. Her opinions on them may be partly engrained into her through John's distaste of them, but as much as she curious about them, she also didn't find the whole making it very clear they have a stupid amount of money to get them whatever they need appealing.
