Fenris


I watched him curiously, sitting up with a bit of worry on the tip of my tongue when he got up to move over to me, but just stayed still when he hugged me. I hesitated a moment, confused and surprised, but ended up just wrapping my arms around him and holding him tight, leaning my head against his and inexplicably holding back tears. "I'm all right," I said softly once I'd fought them back. "Please, don't worry. It was a long time ago." As was everything else. It didn't really hurt less, you just learned how to cope with it as time went on.
 
Trevor:

Trevor hated seeing Fenris sad, and felt better about it when he thought Fenris was not as sad as he had been. His grip lightened up on the man, but he didn't quite let go of the hug. He wasn't sure why it was so comforting for himself or why he felt like he should, but he didn't want to let go of Fenris. "I'm sorry I asked you about it... I know it was a long time, but still..."

Fenris


I managed a faint shrug, not wanting to jar him much but feeling a reaction was necessary. "Life is full of hurts," I said, quietly, gently, and didn't let go of him because he wasn't letting go of me either. "Ignoring them does nothing to make them better. It just seals them up in a bottle, 'til the day they can't be restrained anymore." I'd had those days before. It was better to let things out slowly, instead of letting it all bubble up at once. Those days, I spent a long time crying so hard I felt I couldn't breathe, alone and hurt and even afraid. "I don't mind talking about it."
 
Trevor:


Trevor just listened as Fenris talked. He understood what Fenris was saying, but felt like it couldn't apply to him. He had been holding back too much stuff for too long, and he shouldn't put all the weight of knowing on Fenris, it wasn't fair. Especially not to the person who rescued him from the hell he was in. Since Trevor was smaller in general than Fenris, his head only reached the man's chest, where his head was now resting.
 
Fenris


I shifted carefully, putting my legs down and moving over a bit in the chair. "Do . . . Do you want to sit with me?" Somehow, I got the feeling he wanted to be here, close, as much as I was starting to want him to be. After being starved of human contact for so long, it was probably something I should've expected. One little thing, and I didn't want to let go again.
 
Trevor:

Nodding slightly, Trevor looked up at him a bit, "If it's okay with you, I mean." He couldn't remember now- and maybe his mother had once or twice- but he could never remember hugging anyone or being hugged. It was odd, he felt like he should have some memory of it, but when he tried to think of a time where he had, he drew blanks. If he could have found a memory, it would never have been the same anyway, because he didn't care for anyone like he did this man.

Fenris


I nodded and just tugged him down gently, letting him resist if he wanted to. The chair was just barely wide enough for us to sit side by side, if he turned towards me a bit and put one of his legs over mine. I kept an arm around him, pulling his head down gently to my shoulder and running my fingers through his hair once or twice because I knew that it had comforted me when I was young, when there was anyone still here to be comforted by. "Don't be afraid to do what you want." I said, shrugging fractionally. "If it's dangerous, or if I really don't want you to do something, I'll tell you."

Trevor:

Fenris's fingers through Trevor's hair comforted him as he held close to the man. He leaned his head against Fenris's chest and snuggled against him. "I just don't want to do anything that might make you mad or make you upset." He looked up at Fenris's eyes.

Fenris


I shook my head a little, giving him a small, reassuring smile. "You won't. If I'm mad or upset, it's only because I worry about you getting hurt." Like if he would've fallen out of the tree. I would've been upset then, worried for him. "I promise, I won't get mad or upset at you. Only for you." I didn't see what he could do to make me angry with him. Irritated, maybe, but not mad.
 
Trevor:

Holding onto Fenris, Trevor looked at him confused. After a little bit, he bit his lip and watched him, "I've never met anyone who is nice like you... I mean some people were not terribly mean... but you are... caring and I don't know how to." He wanted to thank him, but he didn't know how.

Fenris


I'd turned to look out at the yard, not wanting to stare at him and make him nervous the whole time. "How to?" I prodded gently when he had finished. How to care? Surely that couldn't be it. Maybe he was just looking for words. Everyone knew how to care, no matter what, and I knew that I cared because my fingers curled a little bit tighter, possessive and protective, when he mentioned not knowing anyone nice. I didn't want to think about anyone being cruel to him. He was here now. That was over.
 
Trevor:

"how... How to thank you...." He bit his lip and looked over Fenris carefully. Trevor relaxed in Fenris's arms, still holding on. He clung to him not because he was scared he might fall, but more because he was scared that he might not be here tomorrow. It was too good too be true and he was worried that he might wake up and it not be true anymore. He also wasn't sure on his feelings towards Fenris. He knew he greatly cared for him, but he thought he felt a different feeling for him. Love, he thought, but he had never experienced it before, so he didn't know for sure.

Fenris


For the longest time, I had thought that there would always be ice, curled cold and tight 'round my heart, but . . . but hearing those words and the honesty behind them, the concern in his eyes - it felt like the ice had cracked, like just a little piece had broken off and melted away. I smiled warmly for him and just rested my head against his once more, free hand searching out one of his and holding gently. "You don't have to thank me. Just feel better, and tell me if there's anything I can do to make you happier." I wanted to be sure he told me his wants and needs. I wanted to make him happy and healthy and safe.
 
Trevor:

He held Fenris's hand and smiled as Fenris spoke. Trevor moved his head up a little before placing a light kiss on Fenris's cheek, blushing lightly. He watched him, chewing the inside of his lip a bit as he did. Trevor hoped Fenris wouldn't dislike it, but he had wanted to do that for a while.

Fenris


My eyes widened a little, surprised, at first, and I felt myself turning a little pink even as I looked down at him. But, perhaps it was simply a friendly thing, I thought, and so I smiled a little to be sure he wouldn't worry, and pushed his head gently back down onto my shoulder. I dragged the other chair over with a foot so that we could both have our feet up, and just sat in the quiet of it all for a while, listening to birds chirp quietly from the trees. It was surprising how much I'd forgotten what it felt like, sitting with another person so close.
 
Trevor:

He let his head rest against Fenris, smiling lightly for being around him. "I'm sorry if I upset you, though." Trevor chewed his lip after he spoke, always nervous.

Fenris


I sighed softly, contentedly. "The past is upsetting, Trevor, not you. . . Not you. . ." He had done nothing so far upsetting in the way he was thinking. I didn't know what he'd been through before, but he would never go back to it. I had him now, safe in my arms, and I was going to keep him safe.
 
Trevor:

Trevor smiled as he layed with him, listening to some noise from the house. He tightened his grip around Fenris when he heard the noise, terrified. He watched him closely, "what's that?"

Fenris


I'd drifted into daydreams for a wihle and blinked a few times when Trevor brought me back. "What?" I looked around a little, back towards the house when I saw he was looking that way. "What is what?"

Trevor:

He clung tightly to Fenris as he asked about what it was. "I think there's some one in the house." He soon was rendered completely speechless when one of his old owners appeared from the door. His name was Kevin, who had been a particularly violent owner. Seeing his face brought back all the memories of the two of them. When Kevin had owned him, Trevor was only 12.

Kevin:

"Excuse me, Sir, but I would like to buy that one back from you." He stood in a defensive position, angry that he no longer was in possession of the piece of property that Fenris had now.

Fenris


I stood quickly when I realized that someone had been inside my home, a hand curling protectively over Trevor's shoulder. "Excuse me? The doors were locked." My eyes narrowed, angry and defensive. "This is my home. How did you get in? What makes you think you're welcome on my property?" I would call the authorities if I had to, or eject him from the property myself.

Trevor:

Burying his head on Fenris' chest, Trevor shook slightly from fear. He looked up worried at Fenris, not wanting to have anything to do with Kevin ever again.

Kevin:

"It's as simple as this, little fellow. You have something I want... And if you won't except my gracious offer on it," Kevin pulled a knife from his pocket and flashed it at Fenris, "Then I'll just have to take it back on my own."
 
Fenris


I curled my fingers gently in Trevor's hair, trying to reassure him. "I think you'll find that I'm not icapable of defending myself. Knives don't scare, nor the cowards that choose to hide behind them. . . Besides. You're holding it all wrong." I hadn't spent all my time locked up in my own house. I knew how to fight.
 
Trevor:

A bit more at ease with Fenris' hand on his hair, Trevor was still shaking slightly, still terrified. He remembered this man with a lot of pain.

Kevin:

"Why do you want that garbage anyway?" Kevin chuckled and moved over to the man and the boy. He grabbed Trevor by his arm and yanked him. Trevor resisted, but ending on the concrete, and then ran to the far corner of the yard, hiding. Kevin glared at Fenris with disdain.
 
Fenris-


When the man grabbed Trevor away from me, I hesitated only long enough to think through a couple of select actions. As soon as Trevor was free, I kicked the man's hand hard enough to send the knife flying into the grass, using the brief distraction he'd created himself, then slammed a fist into his nose. I was capable of defending myself. I'd warned him.
