In the End (IC)

Adira

Adira sighed as she saw that the bullet hadn't exited on the other side of his shoulder. "I am sorry, this is really going to hurt." She said before reaching to the side and grabbing the tweezers. They looked sterile but just in case, she cleaned them with the antiseptic thoroughly before she moved to grab the top of his shoulder firmly. "I need you to sit still while I do this, but before I dig into your shoulder with these tweezers, I am going to have to push hard on the wound to locate where the bullet is with the cloth." She explained, unsure if he was going to be able to handle it. For whatever reason, in the first aid class that she had taken, they had taught them what to do if there were something beneath the skin that they needed to remove, if it wasn't in any vital place anyway.

Adira moved to grab the cloth once more, and began pushing around the wound and over it firmly yet not too hard, until she found the more than naturally firm spot in his shoulder. "Found it." She said before taking hold of the tweezers, stabilizing him with her free hand, and moving to slide the tweezers into the wound while holding them closed. She opened them once they were in the wound, and used her thumb to try and keep the bullet from moving away from the tweezers, moving slow, hoping he wasn't going to start thrashing around while she did this... She knew it was going to hurt like hell, but what else could she do? Julie had said to remove the bullet, but Adira had a feeling that this would be much harder than she realized.

Rhylen

Rhylen had finished replacing the cap to the canteen before stuffing it back into her backpack, before rummaging for a food pack. They tasted disgusting, but it held the nutrients she needed to keep herself good. After looking at it for a moment, she threw it back in her backpack and stood, turning her flashlight on once more as she made her way into the kitchen and began opening cupboards. There was food, thank god. It looked like the people that had lived here left quite a bit of food, and she pulled out a can of spaghetti-ohs, before looking through the drawers in an attempt to find a can opener.

It was then that she heard it, like someone was here, and she went still, listening to the noises as they drew near. She grabbed a large kitchen knife off of the counter and ducked down, holding it close just as the door opened.
'Damn' she thought as she realized her guns were right in the open in the living room, and these apartments weren't real big, so the living room was almost directly in front of the doorway. She suddenly stood and shined the flashlight at the woman in front of her, the word "Freeze!" Being released from between her pale lips.

"Why are you here?" She asked, keeping the knife pointed at the girl as she rounded the counter. The reason she had the flashlight in the girls face was to blind her of the fact that she held a knife and not a gun. The girl didn't seem to have any firearms, which was a plus.

@Otakubeats
Ty stayed still as she looked for the bullet. He braced himself as she started removing it, and then it hurt. Alot. More than when he actually got shot. He gasped at the sudden pain, forcing himself to stay still and rigid. He held his teeth close together, biting back a cry of pain. After all, too much noise was a bad thing. After what felt like hours, the bullet was out and he lay on the couch shaking with pain, trying to stay awake. He kept his face in the cushion, too tired and in pain to bother looking up.

Andromeda
"Hey, fuck you! Tell me to freeze," Andy growled, pointing her flashlight at the woman. "You wanna play the 'let's blind each other with flashlights game', I can do that." The blonde quickly examined her surroundings, noting that the woman was in the kitchen, then spotted her weapons lying in the living room. Andromeda scoffed slight, shaking her head and lowering her light slightly. "Let's cut the bullshit." She grabbed the guns and threw them in the corner, farther now from the woman, and began to approach.

She saw her light reflect off of something metal in the girl's hands, then realized all she had was a knife. "If you done pretending you have a viable weapon, maybe we talk like civilized fucking people." The blonde realized she probably didn't sound like a particularly nice person, but she still wasn't exactly happy. Finding some shithead looter hadn't improved her mood.

"I'm Andromeda, and I'm just a survivor." She laughed slightly, shaking her head. "I guess we all are at this point." She didn't figure that this girl was going to attack her, so she sat on one of the barstools next to her. If she'd wanted her dead, she would've already attacked. "Oh, and I wouldn't try to stab me if I were you." She pulled her pistol from her back pocket, setting it in her lap. "I'm just looking for supplies. And, judging by the cupboards that're thrown open, so are you."

Adira

Adira dug around in the wound for far longer than she had wanted to, the tweezers moving around the bullet. She gripped it as softly as she could while keeping the grip and slowly, started pulling it out. Every time the bullet started moving out of the tweezers grip, she released the squeeze, pushed the tweezers forward and grabbed it again. She finally pulled it all the way out just as the pullet slid from the grip of the tweezers and bounced off of the couch onto the ground with a clanging sound. Blood began dripping from the wound and she quickly grabbed the cloth and pushed it to the wound with decent pressure, in an attempt to stop the bleed. It wasn't super bad, but it was enough that she wanted to stop it.

"I am so sorry." She said as she looked at Ty, it was clear he was in severe pain. She wanted to start conversation with him to keep his mind off of it, but she figured the conversation that might cheer him up, would probably end up depressing him, whether she brought up family, or friends, so she kept quiet while she held the pressure there. "I have to clean the wound after this with the antiseptic before I bandage it. I will try to be as gentle as possible." She said before removing the cloth and rinsed it. She poured the antiseptic onto the cloth before lightly blotting at the scratches and bullet wound, making sure to do a thorough job before moving to grab the bandages. She patched him quickly, the bleed was small, but the scar that would be left would definitely be a decent sized scar since he didn't get any stitches.

"I am done, get some rest." She said before standing and moving toward the kitchen with the bowl and cloth in hand. She dumped the bloodied water into the sink, and rinsed the cloth before setting it aside and washing her hands which were now covered in Ty's blood. Turning her attention to Tess, she smiled softly. "I am sorry to bother you, but do you have any tylenol and a blanket? I am sure he would like some type of pain killer and is probably cold from the shock." She asked quietly.

@Otakubeats @Clairvoyance

Rhylen

Rhylen smirked as the girl began going off on her, she was obviously stressed and a bit freaked out. She was somewhat shocked when the girl took her guns and threw them, which irritated Rhylen a bit but due to the situation, she decided to stay quiet, she wasn't out to kill any survivors unless they blatantly meant harm upon her. After watching the girl sit and pull out her gun, Rhylen smiled and set the knife on the counter beside her, lowering her flashlight away from the girls face. If she wanted to, she could move fast enough to harm her, seeing as she would take longer to pull up the gun allowing Rhylen time to knock her hand away and slice a good sized gaping hole in her throat, but she wasn't out for blood.

"The name is Rhylen. And yes, there are supplies here. I haven't checked the rooms, but there is enough food for you to take if you need to. Are you alone?" She asked before turning to find the can opener once more, which was in a drawer she hadn't checked, directly in front. She grabbed it and began opening the can as her eyes flew to Andromeda again. She wore a simple white tanktop, and a pair of
camouflaged military cargo pants. Her Army jacket was in the living room slung over the back of the couch. After she opened the spaghetti-ohs, she lifted the can to her lips and began sipping, speaking as if Andromeda would care "I never thought I would say this, but Spaghetti-ohs are delicious when you are starving." She said before sipping up more of the tomato type liquid with small round noodles up slowly, savoring the flavor which before she found disgusting.

Julie

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Julie bit her lip nervously. "N-no I mean. Daylight would be better. We could move in daylight." She ducked her head and gestured at the room. "We can just stay here tonight." Adam had left the room already to scavenge, and Andy was still gone. Adira had managed to pull the bullet out of Ty and patch him up pretty well, and Julie turned her attention to the girl. "Since you're done, do
you need anything?" Julie's eyes flickered to the cuts and bruises over the other girl.

"If not, Sam, I can start helping set up some places to sleep." Julie began to wander into another room to look for blankets. Her mind wandered to her brother again. He was a bit older than her, just by a year and a half, and was just about to start college. Andrew was his name. Julie closed her eyes. She didn't want to think of him anymore. She shook her head and started pulling blankets from a cupboard. She laid them out on the floor in the living room and starting arranging them into small sleeping bags for each member of the group.

There were footsteps outside the door, and Julie looked up, expecting Andy or Adam to have returned. A slow shuffle. A quiet, stifled moan. Julie froze.
Please, not again. A handful of beasts, attracting by the noise, had started moving towards their group.

Spark had been looking everywhere for his owner, finding these sick people instead. He knew that it was okay for him to bite them, but if they bit someone clean, then they got sick. So, he eventually found the scent of another dog, and followed it finding these...things outside. He bit the heels of one in the back and it jolted, moving a different direction. The others followed like lemmings into the woods. He then went up to the door he'd smelled people in and scratched it. His owner usually let him in when he did this. No one answered right away so he began whining and whimpering at the door, hoping for a person to come and tell him stuff would be okay. He missed his owner, who would always do this when Spark got scared during thunder storms or parades.

________________________________________________________________

Ty nodded and lie still, starting to fall asleep. He was super cold from the shock, but to hell with it. Sleeping is way better than their nightmare of reality. He faintly heard scratching and whining from the door, but chalked it up to him being tired. So, he just lie on the couch asleep.

@Mina @Azazelin @Clairvoyance @Lonelytaco (And anyone else in the apartment)

Samantha

Sam nodded her head when Julie agreed with her. It made her feel better knowing she wasn't the bad guy. She moved across the kitchen to where she kept her deep freezer, and dug out all the meat. If she didn't cook it tonight, it would probably be spoiled by morning, so she figured a large dinner never hurt anyone. She seasoned the chicken and beef before putting the chicken in water to boil, and setting the beef in a pan to cook. She had plenty of taco shells, so chicken or beef tacos would be on the menu tonight. "Julie, in a few minutes if you can help me lift Ty, that couch folds out into a bed. Usually fit for two, but we can push it up to three. There's also a queen in my room and the guest bedroom." she said, peeking around the corner so Julie could hear her. Turning back to the stove, she checked the chicken only to see that it was still raw, and turned up the heat a bit to quicken the pace.

She flipped the beef around before heading over to the fridge and pulling out half a jug of milk and setting it on the counter, grabbing her chocolate powder. She pulled out 5 small glasses out the cabinet and laid them out in a row, pouring milk in each before stirring in the chocolate. "Since you guys are the only ones here, I figured I'd give you guys something special." She said, handing a glass to Tess, Adira, Julie, and laying one down on the coffee table for Ty.

Tess

Tess had been sitting at her sister's kitchen table, rocking a bowl back in forth out of boredom when Adira spoke to her. She place the bowl back in the center of the table before looking up to her. Believe it or not, Tess rarely ever cam to her sister's house before, sos she hardly knew her way around. She took a sip from the chocolate milk before walking in the bathroom and opening up her sister's medicine cabinet, grabbing a generic tylenol and heading to her sister's room to grab a blanket before turning it over to Adira. "Hopefully generic is okay. It's all she had." she said, starring at the bottle that she was handing over.

Suddenly, there was the sound of scratching at the door. It was different than it had been before, when the Zombies had been trying to get in. In fact, it sounded animal. Skye was in the guest room, so Tess knew it couldn't have been her. She shifted her glare back up to Adira, "Do I open the door?" she asked, a bit scared to just do it without any idea of knowing what it was out there.

@Mina

Skye

Skye had taken to laying on the guest bed, something she usually wasn't allowed to do. Her head laid between her paws, and she licked her lips feeling a bit thirsty. No one had remembered to water her today. She let out a tiny whine and looked up at the ceiling, makign out the smell of food coming from the kitchen. Now that she thought about it, she hadn't eaten much today either. She jumped off the bed and on to the floor, shaking her body of the fur that she had shed during the time of her nap. She could hear someone openeing and closing cabinets, and scratched at the door in order to make and effort to be let out. It was unfair that she had to be locked up while all of her new friends got to eat and play with master, something she hadn't gotten to do all day.

She sniffed the air a second time, this time picking up the strange scent of a male dog. Were they having some sort of party without her? The dog scratched at the door again, hoping this time someone would come for her. She wanted to play with the other dog, and she wanted to eat. She whined a bit louder, letting out a small yelp of desperation. Surely her owner would come for her, she always did.

Adam

'Alright. We're done here. Let's move.' said one of his voices. Adam couldn't agree more.

Hopping out the window that he had crowbarred open, he mentally did an inventory check. Rather, his voices did it for him.

'Alright. Silencer for the AK, 2 cans of spam, a left sock, 3 rags, and a can of tylenol. Also, there was a bag of Pocky too. Don't ask me.' said the voice.

Adam silently nodded, and opened the window to 2A. The thing opened quietly. Like a dream.

Adam hopped in, and immediately scoured around. First, the kitchen. Even from the window in the living room, he could smell something... rotten. Terribly, terribly rotten. Like someone decided it was a good idea to cook a car tire, and then managed to burn it. For 2 days straight. The stench was so bad that Adam had to cover his nose with his... newfound cloth.

'Oooh, kinky.' said one of the voices, as Adam gives the imaginary voice a menacing look. Kind of like a 'shut up or I'll make you shut up' look they used to give each other in the movies. The stench worsens as Adam approaches the kitchen. He finally rounds the corner, through the open door aaaandd....

'....Mother of God...' Adam murmured, and so did his voices. He found a rotting corpse. Upon closer inspection, he speculates that the... body has been there for a solid month, tops. At least a week. It was a middle-aged woman, with slash marks on the face area, and bullet marks over her body. It almost made Adam throw up what little food he had stored in his stomach. Adam looked to the left, and he found about 3 to 4 bullet casings. Medium sized bullet casings. This got his hopes up.

Adam kept scouring the apartment, scouting out rooms. Every single room was filled with a seemingly invisible miasma of despair and sadness, as if it's... haunted.

'OooooOOOoOOOOOOOhhhhHHHHHh, SpOOoookKKyyyyYYY.' said one of the voices, seemingly acting as Adam's subconscious, trying to cheer him up. Needless to say, it doesn't work, but only worsens the already crackled, and broken relationship between Adam and his voices. Makes him feel like they're....Adam absolutely hates to say this... crazy.

'Oh, but you are crazy, Adam.' said one of his voices. 'You're just as crazy as him. You remember him, right?'

'No. Shut up.' said Adam's representative voices in return. 'You're not helping.'

'Oh, but what if I am? What then, Adam?' said the voice again, with a more sinister tone.

Adam finally makes his way to the bathroom, and he finds that the door is locked. Adam couldn't believe this, as he had thought that whoever lived in this apartment would've fled weeks, even months ago. He forces the door open with the crowbar, and what he found, was... was....

The other rotting corpse. Middle-aged man, with a single bullet hole under the jaw. Blood has dried on the wall behind the body, above the head, indicating where the bullet left. The bloody corpse was slumped up against the toilet, in one hand, holding a crumpled piece of paper, and in the other... an AR-15!

Adam instinctively reaches for the AR-15, and carefully removes the man's finger from the trigger, and then examines the weapon. Intact, almost in pristine condition. Well, almost, considering there's at least a gallon of dried blood on it. Adam holds it, holstering his AK with the sling, and then notices the crumpled paper. He reached for it, and read it.

He dropped the piece of paper halfway through the paragraph. It was so... sad. The man had killed his wife, presumably the woman in the kitchen. His kids are dead. He shot himself. End of story. He just wrote this, just in case one of his relatives found him.

Anyway, there's more ammunition inside the bedroom, under the bed. About 2 magazines of 5.56mm, and a flashlight with 2 batteries. This guy was prepared, too bad the mind got to him before the zombies. Adam collected the supplies, and headed back out. He's done with scavenging. But just before he had hopped out the window, he noticed something shining underneath one of the cupboards. Apparently, car keys. Adam takes them, and then he headed outside.

"Sir, this is the report from Little Rock. They've found someone." General Cricket took the report from his soldier, glancing over the paper and nodding. "Good. Where is she?"

"Unfortunately, the mall was overrun and many people died. Soldiers are looking over bodies now in search of her, but we're almost positive she escaped. Whether alone or in a group, we aren't sure. We're sending soldiers to her house now to see if she's retreated there, and we'll keep you informed."

"Good. Dismissed." Cricket turned and dropped the report on the desk, sighing deeply before looking out the window. In front of him was the ruined city of Dallas, Texas -- one of the first to report signs of infection. Now, it was the central base of operations for whatever was left of the military. Politicians didn't command the country anymore, the army did. The country was now under martial law.

Andromeda
Satisfied that the girl, Rhylen, wasn't hostile, Andromeda shoved the gun back in her pocket. "No, I'm part of a larger group. We're holed up here, at one of the other girls' apartment. She found both her sister and her dog alive, so I'm guessing she's damn happy right now." Andy grinned slightly, happy that Sam had found her family. "Looks like you, on the other hand, are alone."

Seeing as the AC was off in the apartment and she was wearing a jacket, Andy opted to roll her sleeves up and fan herself with a paper plate sitting on the counter. "I don't know what you're talking about. Spaghetti-oh's were always delicious!" She said, standing and moving past Rhy into the kitchen. "Mind if call you Rhy? You can call me Andy. Andromeda seems a bit fancy for a bitch like me." She said, laughing and pulling a box of pretzels out of the cupboard.

@Mina

(Haha, cliffhangers lmao. Btw, @Kabboom...that pocky is so mine.)

Sparkz heard whimpering in the apartment, and scratched harder, whining. He didn't want to bark. The sick people would come back if he did. So he lay on his belly, putting his paw under the door a bit and wiggling it. This usually had got his Master's attention, maybe it would get another Master to listen to him. He was hungry and lonely. Master had gone out for the day in his fancy pelt, and hadn't come back since. So he'd been left to scavenge and dig in garbage cans for food. But, he always felt bad doing it. When he was a pup Master scolded him for it on a daily basis until he stopped doing it. His tail thumped on the floor as he lay outside the door, pushing his muzzle against the wood. He hoped someone would answer....

Adam

As he returned to the apartment, Adam squinted to look for a car in the parking lot, through the dark night. He could barely see it, but off to the corner, he could see an open SUV door. An SUV. Perfect.

Car now in sight, he quickly returns to give everyone the good news. He hops through the window he opened on his way out, and starts talking. "Alright, I have good news and I have better news. Which one you guys wanna hear fir--" his sentence was cut short as he heard what seems to be soft clawing and whimpering outside the door. Adam listened for a while, to determine exactly what the hell it is.

'Is it a bird?' queried a voice.

'No, it's not, you dumb fuck! It's a zombie!' said another voice.

'No, you baka, it's not! Zombies don't whimper or do the 'soft clawing' bullshit, they groan like bitches during their periods, and they bash the fucking door down!' said a voice, finally, and then Adam realized it right as the voice said it.

'It's a dog!' said the voice, and Adam quickly rushed to open the door.

Adira

Adira took the blanket and tylenol from Tess with a smile and a nod before grabbing a glass of water and making myself to Ty on the couch. After setting the blanket on the ground, she lowered onto my knees beside him and spoke softly. "Here, I need you to take this, it will help with the pain." Adira said with a forced smile, helping him to sit up a little before handing him the glass of water and the pill. She watched as he took it before taking the glass from him and laying him back down, and then laid the blanket over top of him gently. With a sigh, I turned to move back into the kitchen with the glass and set it in the sink, looking at Sam with another sigh.

"Thank you for the chocolate milk." She said before going to grab it, having forgot it was there since she was tending to Ty. She turned to Julie then, sipping at the chocolate milk before lowering it and licking her top lip. The chocolate milk tasted delicious, almost euphoric. "Julie, I know you are tired and worried about your father, but can you please help me with my shoulder? I would do it by myself, but I can't exactly see well on my back, or reach for that fact." Adira felt terrible asking, but Julie knew what she was doing. "And when we go to your home tomorrow, I will come along and help." She said with a soft smile, trying to reassure the girl a bit.

Rhylen

Rhylen lowered the can with a shake of her head as Andy said Spaghetti-ohs were always delicious. "I never much cared for them, but right now, they are amazing." She said before speaking about her friends. "A bigger group? And yes, you may call me whatever you want to really, I am not picky. Andromeda is fancy and unique, I like it, but Andy seems more likely for me to remember, so I will go with that." She said with a smile before lifting the can to her lips once more and drinking/eating the rest of the food. She threw the empty can in the sink before moving over to her bag and grabbing her canteen, unscrewing the lid and taking a drink before moving to sit next to Andy and turning to face her so she could speak about the others.

It was tempting to just leave them alone, but she felt like maybe she should help them along. If they came here with multiple people, had a dog and young people, they might need a little help. It wasn't every day that she ran into people now a days, and when she helped them, she would make her way to her own parents home and see if there were any leads about where they were. Her communication systems had been out for sometime, but police departments would have some walkie talkies that would help them out some, that was her plan... or at least before then, hit up some commercial shit store and grab one of their most expensive pairs of walkie talkies to use until they could get better ones.

Ty was awake long enough to do what Adira said, and fell asleep after. He was tired and didn't really register what was going on.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Seeing the door opening Spark sat up, his tail wagging happily. Yes! The Master of this place heard him! The dog looked at Adam, with wide happy eyes. His tail wagging like crazy, happy to finally not be alone. Spark had to restrain his yips of joy. The sick people would come back. He slipped past Adam and into the apartment looking around in excitement. Peoples! SO many people! This was amazing! Master hadn't had him around this many people since they went to the dog park! Spark decided to walk over to the person cooking, and rubbed his head against her leg kindly. He did this when Master came home, surely she'd be happy too! Master always smiled when Spark did this!

(Shit, it's my turn. Oops.)

Andromeda
"Not sure how many of us there are. Mostly girls though, the guys are definitely outnumbered." She laughed again. "Tyler, Sam and Tess, Adam, Adira, Julie, that military guy, the dog, and me...I think that's everyone." She felt a little bad that she couldn't exactly remember some of the people in the group, but she was tired from her long, zombie-filled day, so she had a viable excuse. "I probably forgot someone, but oh well."

Andy put the plate down and pulled a hair tie from her wrist, forcing her blonde waves back and into a moderately controlled ponytail. "If you'd like to join us, I'm sure you'd be welcome." She glanced over at Rhylen's guns. "We could sure use the extra firepower." Some of the others, like Julie and Tess, had nothing useful against zombies, and were more of a liability than an asset at this point. Rhylen and Adam, on the other hand, were probably the most prepared of all. "I'm not sure what the plan is for tomorrow, but we're only staying here for a night." She paused, sighing and grabbing her hiking axe. "I should head back though. It's been a while since I left. I really just wanted some alone time, not to scavenge."

@Mina @Lonelytaco @Azazelin @Otakubeats @Kabboom @jtfang

Rhylen

Rhylen laughed softly as Andy spoke, nodding her head. From the sounds of it, they already had a soldier on their side, but Rhylen was unsure why he would allow this girl to go out scavenging by herself if he had the training. "Alright, so you have a few people. I will accompany you back if you would like, scavenging should be done before you leave tomorrow. You are in a prime location to find supplies, I wouldn't pass that up if I were you since there are fewer scavenging areas than before. Quite a few survivors have swept through many of the stores and looted what they could. The city is in tatters, not to mention the zombies swarm most of the populated areas that were looted since it was a buffet for them when the apocalypse hit." She said firmly, suddenly serious. "I think you and the others should rest, I will keep lookout while you sleep and once the morning hits, small groups should make their way to every apartment to clear out supplies." She didn't want to make the girl feel overwhelmed, but time was of the essence and they could use everything they could find.

At that, she moved over to pick up her weapons, pulling her holster over her shoulders and securing it, then her rifle, backpack and M-16, after she moved back to the kitchen and opened her backpack, throwing the can opener in, then a good amount of canned food, including canned fruits. "Have any of you eaten back where you came from? If not, this should feed them and we can get a move on come dawn." She spoke as her gaze drifted back over to the exhausted and seemingly stressed Andromeda, not exactly sure if she was just lacking emotion due to the fatigue, or a bit apathetic to the world, but it didn't really matter to Rhylen, she just wanted to get some relaxation before traveling again. A couple nights without sleep didn't really bother her, she had gone almost a week, hallucinating by then before she got sleep during the war, this was not nearly as bad yet...

@Clairvoyance

(I can't reply as Adira just yet)

Samantha

The meat had finally finished cooking, Sam turned off the stove eyes and wiped her hands off on her pants. Suddenly, a dog appeared at her feet and was wiggling it's whole body excitedly. "Where in God's name.." she trailed off, flashing a look at Adam before lifting the dog up and taking it to the back room and throwing it in with Skye. Sam was sure the dog would enjoy some canine company until she was allowed out. In truth, Sam didn't mind having another dog around, she just didn't want it jumping on Ty and hurting his already bruised body. She would have to make abetter impression on it later, but right now she needed to finish dinner and chage her clothes. She continued down the hallway and walked into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her.

She dug around in her drawers until she found some shorts and a soft T-shirt and pulled it on, instantly feeling cleaner and better about herself. She brushed out her hair and scanned over herself in the mirror before heading back out the door, where she was met by Tess. Who was staring her down a bit nervously. "What is it?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest. Tess bit her lip and walked into the room behind her, gesturing for her to follow. Sam reluctantly followed, sitting cross legged on her bed. Waiting for Tess to say whatever she needed to say.

Tess

Tess had watched as Sam retreated to her bedroom, and seized the moment as a chance to tell her about what had happened over the past day. As much as it hurt, Tess had to tell her. She closed the bedroom door behind her and leaned into it, staring at her sister and struggling to keep posture as she thought over the ways to explain what had happened. "Well?" Sam asked, raising an eyebrow and laying back on her elbows. Tess made her way across the room, sitting a bit far away from her sister and looking at the bloodied clothes on the floor, still unaware of what had happened. "Sam, have you tried to contact Mom?" she asked slowly, looking up. Out the corner of her eyes, she saw her sister's eyes widen a bit. Tess took that as a yes, and stood up, facing her sister, suddenly finding herself spilling out all the details of their parent's murders.

The soldiers cam early that morning, instantly building up large metal walls around the neighborhood Tess had lived in with her parent's her whole life. At first, they weren't told anything; Just to stay in their houses and not to bother anyone with questions of what was happening. Neighbors gathered together, coming up with their own theories and guesses of what was actually going on. Of course, most of them were right. As the news had already shown them what was soon to come, they just didn't expect it to happen so sudden. The soldiers built walls to keep the monsters out, but they didn't account for people on the inside being infected as well.

It started with one. Then it turned to two, and that number continued to grow in the few hours that the innocent civilians had been trapped within their community. The Payne family hadn't know just how serious the threat had been until the soldiers began rounding their neighbors up, shooting them down once they had all been gathered. Tess and her parents had been part of the final group to be killed. As the gunshots rang out, one of the people in front of Tess fell back on to her, the unexpected dead weight caused her to fall back on to the pavement, making it look as though Tess herself had also been shot. Tess laid there, closing her eyes and waiting until the gunfire stopped and the sound of the big army trucks driving away started. Once the last of the trucks were gone, Tess found her car and began to drive to her only remaining family member's home.

A husband and wife, unbroken by the plague, took refuge in a pristine hotel room high above the woes and worries of the world below. The city of L.A. was stretched out before them, or whatever was left of it.

"Ariel, they've released a map of the areas that have it the worst." A middle-aged woman looked over her shoulder from the balcony, biting her lip and going inside. "Let me see, put it on the table here." Her husband, a balding 50-something, nodded, setting it on the coffee table. As expected, heavily populated areas in the US were among the first to fall. There were some small towns that had been left untouched, and were now fortifying themselves into strongholds, but the plague was spreading dangerously fast. "God, it looks like Washington's almost been wiped out. Have they released anything on President Carter?" The man shook his head. "No, no-one sure where she is. Some people thing she's holed up in a fallout shelter below the White House."

Nearly the entire state of California was a red zone, along with most of the south. It seemed that Texas was doing a good job defending it's borders though, as the majority of it was yellow and blue. Georgia was nearly entirely blue, meaning it was relatively safe, along with Maine and Montana. Alaska was almost completely plague free thanks to it's isolation, whereas Hawaii had been nearly entirely overrun. "Are they seriously considering nuking Hawaii? That place was like paradise..." Martin laughed, shaking his head. "Yeah, now it's a zombie paradise. What choice do they have, babe?"

The majority of the northeast was yellow, besides Maine, and the majority of the west was red. The central US was largely an ugly shade of orange, and the state of Florida was a dark, menacing purple. One could only assume that that meant all hope was lost for the great Sunshine state. It seemed as though other countries around the world were destroying all flights incoming from the US, and US citizens were being executed for fear of the virus spreading worldwide. Canada and Mexico were hastily walling the US off and killing anyone coming in from the once-great nation.

Ariel shoved the map away, burying her face and her hands and beginning to sob. "This is really happening, isn't it?" She whispered. "Honey, I'm sorry. No-one should have to go through this, but we'll make it. Ok?" Martin put his arm around his wife, holding her tightly in the newfound silence around them.

Neither of them expected a horde of undead monstrosities to come pouring through the door moments later.

Andromeda
Andy shook her head as Rhy suggesting scavenging in the morning. "Nah, I'm gonna look through a few more apartments before I head back. I'd rather we were already prepared to go when the sun comes up, not having to look around here for another 2 hours." Andy stood up, pushing her sleeves back down as a breeze blew through the apartment. "I think you should go ahead without me. I'll be there in a while. Like I said, I need some time to myself..." She sighed, knowing there was a long road to walk and no end in sight. The only end there could be was humanity's extinction, or an end to this zombie nightmare.

She grabbed her bag from the floor as Rhylen went and grabbed her things, popping her back as she stretched. She was extremely tired, but they'd die without supplies. She was already out here anyway, so she might as well do what she came out here for in the first place. "Just go in. Tell them I ran into you out here. It's not like they're going to shoot you or anything, just so they know you aren't there to cause trouble." With those last words, Andy headed out the door and back into the night. She was ready to loot, for better or worse, and then get the hell back.

Adam

"I found some weapons and ammo." Adam said, laying the newfound AR-15 on a table. His nose picks up a nice scent, an enticing aroma coming from the kitchen. 'Something's a-cooking.' says his voices. Adam agrees. 'F**king smells like... motherf**king fried f**king chicken and motherf**king beef on the f**king frying pan.' says Voice Ramsay.

'Anyway, back to the survivors.' says the voices, and Adam snaps back to the others. "I also found some car keys, and I think there's an SUV left in the parking lot." says Adam. He then turns to the kid he carried, Ty. 'Sleeping beauty, huh.' says one of his voices. "How's he holding up?" Adam asked Julie.

Rhylen

Rhylen nodded at Andy as she was set on being alone. She was sure everyone needed a little alone time at times like these, it was nerve wracking, stressful, and scary. Rhylen had been ready to die since she entered the military, knowing it was a possibility she numbed herself to the notion at the time, but being turned into an undead creature that ate people's faces?! No thank you! She finished packing her bag before making her way into the single bedroom of the apartment, there were no extra bags, they must have used them to pack their things away before running which is expected. Making her way into the small bathroom, she looked into the medicine cabinet, packing away a bottle of amoxicillin, probably a backup bottle that they forgot, a box of band-aids, bacitracin, tylenol, ibuprofen, and percocet. It wasn't a bad find for a simple medicine cabinet.

After Rhylen searched the rest of the cabinets, with a full backpack slung over her back, she made her way toward the apartment that Andromeda had told her to go to. She could hear voices inside... and a dog? Yep, dog, Andy had mentioned a dog. With a sigh, she reached down and turned the handle before walking inside, knocking lightly as she opened the door slowly. She saw the male with an AR-15 on the table, the others seemed to be standing around, one was laid out on the couch obviously injured, one girl stood by another, her arm limp and blood covering the back of her shirt, injured... the military man was leaned against a wall, obviously feeling like he was superior since he wasn't helping the others with their issues, and it smelt like food? Hmmm, the lights flickered and the humming resounded of the electricity. "Andromeda sent me." Rhylen spoke aloud, hoping the others wouldn't freak out on her. She really didn't want to have to put down live humans.

(I'm not editing the coding out of our previous posts. Too much work...y'all can deal. Also..I'm allowing Tyler to sort of be a little more healed than he should be, because you aren't able to really do anything with a heavily injured character. @Otakubeats)

After a small episode between Adam and Rhylen, a reflex on his part, she was properly introduced and welcomed into the group's ranks. At this point, everyone was tired and hungry, so after a small meal made by Sam the group went to bed. The guys on the pullout, and the rest of the girls spread through the house. No-one was sure who they could really trust at this point, but the hospitality given by Sam and Tess was greatly appreciated.

2 hours after everyone had fallen asleep, Andromeda slipped back inside to deposit her findings. An ample cache of medicine, a couple of extra pistols, a few backpacks filled with food, flashlights, and a large tent. It took her a few trips to get everything back inside, but once she was done, she took a seat at the kitchen table to rest. Eventually -- and unintentionally -- the blonde fell asleep, buried in her arms and face down on the table.

---

In the chilly, grey Arkansas morning, the ragtag group began to awaken and prepare for a long day ahead of them. Rhylen and Julie had worked out -- rather heatedly -- that they would split into two groups. Rhylen's group would be heading to a small strip mall, a shopping center really, to look for walkie-talkies, and any other supplies they may need. Julie's much smaller group would head for her house in search of her father, taking what they could from her well-stocked basement as well. Rhylen would have everyone except Andy, Adam, Julie, and Sam, who would encompass Julie's team, and the two groups had decided to rendezvous at the small pond on the edge of town. If they were lucky, things would go off without a hitch, but things never seemed to go quite right for anyone.

Andromeda

"God...I'm exhausted." Andy mumbled, groaning and sitting up from the hard wood of the table. Sadly, she felt an immediate ache in her back and neck, and growled at the consequences of sleeping on such an uncomfortable surface. It didn't seem like many of the others were awake just yet, so the blonde took the chance to slip into Sam's room and steal a few clothes from the sleeping girl's closet. She needed a shower, possibly the last she'd ever be able to take, so she was going to savor the moment and take her time.

A good hour later, a thoroughly relaxed Andromeda stepped out of the bathroom in a mildly heavy grey sweater and a pair of skinny jeans. Not fighting clothes, but at least she looked good.

It seemed that now a few people were up, milling around and doing whatever they were doing. Andy decided to walk over to Sam and tap the girl's shoulder, saying, "I borrowed some clothes. I hope you don't mind?" It wasn't like she had any clothes of her own to change into.

Julie

Sunlight peeked through the blinds of the guest bedroom where Julie had slept. If she had to guess, it was around 9. The chilly autumn air had sneaked into the room while the young woman had slept, causing goose bumps to pop up on her tan skin. "I need to get up." She said, sighing as she thought of could be waiting for her at her house. She hoped beyond hope that her father was fine, and had holed up behind their relatively safe walls. She wasn't prepared to face anything else.

After about 15 minutes of thought, Julie sighed and slid out of the covers. She had to get up at some point, after all. The night before, after becoming acquainted with Rhylen, the pair had planned out the day together. Splitting up probably wasn't the best approach, but there wasn't much of a choice. Both destinations had the resources they needed, so both would be a big win if things went right.

Tyler woke up, and stretched. Some of the others were still asleep, so he was quiet as he too stock of what he had. Arrows, his bow...he cursed mentally. His bat. He'd lost the fucking Bat. Sighing, he rummaged around the kitchen, finding a large knife. He grabbed a granola bar and ate it while he began to take stock of what would be needed for them to move. They'd added two more people to the group. They'd need to find more water. Maybe some food as well. So he just stood near the door listening for walkers. Even though he was the youngest of the group, he wasn't stupid. He had seen these things before, and dealt with survival. Hell even before the apocalypse he'd had to learn. Mostly he was sent to survival camps just to get him out of his parent's hair. Sure most of the things learned were self-defense but after all. A good offence was a good defense. He pulled out a small journal and a pen. Tyler sketched a rough outline of the thing they'd run into yesterday and began to list it's  weaknesses and how to fight it. There were likely to be more of them after all, body builders were a thing. It'd make sense for that to be a connection, so he simply listed locations that weight lifters would be under a heading of Possible Encounters?  He continued working on the detailing of the sketch as he waited for the others to wake.

Samantha

Samantha had been laying in bed, staring up at the ceiling for about 30 minutes, debating on if she actually  felt like living today, when Andy tapped on her, informing her that she borrowed some of her clothes. "Yeah, yeah that's fine." she said, stretching and reaching over to wake up her sister, who had slept with her in the Master bedroom. Instead of finding Tess, she found Skye, who she had let out of the guest room late last night due to her constant, annoying scratching. She rubbed the dog's fur a little bit before sitting up to find that Tess had already gotten out of bed. She wanted to talk to Tess a little bit before she was forced to split up with her sister, as she had decided that it would be better for her to go along with Rhylen. Sam climbed out of bed, and lifted Skye up from her position on the bed, lugging her into the living room with her, where she noticed Tess was socializing with everyone. "Goodmorning everyone." She said, sitting down on the couch, adjusting herself as Skye wiggled. "When are we leaving? I should probably gather some things before we go." she asked, stroking the now-very-awake Skye.

It was early, but Sam was already having second thoughts about splitting up with Tess, her last remaining relative. She would deifinantly have to ensure that Rhylen would watch after her well, and keep her out of danger. Hopefully, everything would run according to plan and they would meet back up promtly after finding Julie's dad. Sam had always been and optimist, after all.

Tess

Tess had never slept last night, she stayed up, pondering her parents death, wondering if there had been any way she could've prevented it. By the time the sun peeked through the windows of the apartment, Tess's eyes were burning with tears and her body ached of fatigue. Still, she was ready to get moving. Yesterday had been terrible, but another day would direct her closer to better days when a cure existed. "Morning." Tess mumbled when Sam walked in, she had to grin at Skye's large body being carried by her skinny older sister, who was even shorter than she was. Her face turned back into a frown when she realized just how much everybody had lost. Her sister was in college, preparing for her future. Skye had her first beginners agility competition only a week from today, neither of them would be succeding in either, and that broke her heart.

Adam

"Goddammit..." grunted the Russian, as he woke up from his less-than-comfy sleep on the ground. The rug, or carpet, didn't help, either. In fact, it most likely only worsened the situation. 'These dreams are getting weirder.' remarked one voice, regarding Adam's 'visions' at night. Adam got up, AK already in hand, with an itch on his chin. After addressing the itch, Adam instinctively turns to the AK to inspect it.

He had been hugging the thing ever since he fell asleep. Not intentionally, of course, but it does help if someone decided to go rogue and took his gun. Just a but of dust on the iron sights, which Adam swiped off. Some more dust collecting on the front of his barrel. Magazine feels a little bit heavier than what it was yesterday, but it's probably just the fact that Adam's really not a morning person. Other than that, everything looks good. The stamped metal still looks factory-made, and there's not a sign of rust anywhere. Even the wood finish on the thing still looked new, despite it being 3 months since he--

'Forget about it, Kutuzov. Focus. Today is a new day.' Said one of the voices in his head. Adam finally stood up. 'Everyone else is awake. That means we're normal.' said his voices. Of course, this is nothing new to Adam, seeing as he always woke up late.

Thomas

Thomas had been lying on that red couch, staring at the ceiling with a cigarette in his mouth for God knows how long. He took a good, deep, long smoke, and began thinking about today. "Well, today is a big day." He thought. " Any day could be a big day. In one day there could be an outbreak right in your city and wipe out most of the population; In one day they could start building walls around your neighbourhood, and make rules about how you will be living; And in one day, those infected could climb the walls and slaughter everyone." He took another smoke, checked the holster by his hip for the pistol, and finally got up on his feet. He headed for the kitchen, and on the table, there was a sketched map, some cans of food, and that entrenching tool he kept telling himself he borrowed from a soldier. He took a smoke, and looked at the map. He had checked the convenience store and three houses, but the rest of the neighbourhood seems untouched. These residents have good security locks, Thomas was just lucky enough that people who lived in this house didn't lock the main door, everyone left in quite a hurry during the outbreak, or did they all? Some houses on the other side of the neighbourhood had the doors locked, maybe there could be others, but the supplies inside are always more tempting.

Thomas grabbed his backpack, couple more magazines for his P226, when he heard a small growl outside. He peeked through the windows: three walkers, "casually chillin' on the street in front of the house". The doors were locked, he'd be safe here, best not going out at the moment. The 3 infected wouldn't be a problem for his P226, but one shot may do a good job alarming a horde."Those things ain't got brains."-He thought. "But surely they've got muscles alright, wouldn't take long to break in one of these windows." After another smoke, Thomas sat down on the couch again, tighten his grip on the pistol, and waited.

Adira

Adira had fallen asleep on the ground behind the couch after Julie had helped her patch up her shoulder. She saw the new chick, but didn't bother talking to her yet, it turned out that Adira would have plenty of time to do so in the near future anyway, since the others were splitting off from this group and for whatever reason, Rhylen would be taking them to the store and then police station. She knew that the woman had another plan, but it didn't matter right now. Adira wasn't out for her own reasons, she was just planning on surviving as long as possible. Lifting her good arm over her head, Adira stretched on a yawn and sat up, before heading to the bathroom. It seemed everyone else was already up and the bathroom was open thank god. She locked the door behind her and looked at her reflection. She looked like a mess, her hair was dirty and unkempt, her pale skin was dirtied as well.

She pulled her hair back and put her hair-tie on before opening the drawers and finding a pair of scissors, before she sighed and lifted her hands to the back of her head. With her hurt arm, she held the pony tale firmly, and with the other, she placed the blades just before the hair tie and snip... her hair came off in one chunk. Her dishwater blonde hair fell around her face, just beneath her chin, and it was a little shorter in back. Afterward, she clipped her hair to shape her face, that way it wouldn't get in her way as much and wouldn't be as much to take care of. Her face looked much more slender with her hair short, and she looked a couple years younger as well. It was weird how much difference a simple hair cut could have on ones appearance. She stripped down and got in the shower, washing herself down quickly before stepping out and wrapping herself in a towel. She realized, she didn't have any other clothes, so after drying her hair off and wrapping the large towel around her body, she snuck out of the bathroom toward one of the bedrooms. She knocked on it softly before turning the handle and opening the door. No one was in the room so she quickly entered and went through the drawers, finding a dark blue tank top, and a pair of black skinny jeans, and they looked to be her size.

Adira pulled the clothes on quickly before sneaking back out of the bedroom. Tess and Sam both expected the others to find what they needed here, or else they wouldn't have offered their house up as a safe place. Adira's gaze moved over the others as she came out into the living room, her shoulder was sore, and she managed to keep it rather dry from the shower, so she didn't need a change of bandage just yet. "Good morning everyone!" She said loud enough for the others to hear, though not exactly yelling. Might as well make a positive morning for the end of the world. Even after chopping off all of her hair.

Rhylen

Rhylen hadn't slept that night, she sat next to the window in a kitchen chair, and peaked out of the curtains whenever she thought she heard something. After a somewhat heated night, the group had decided to split up and tackle multiple things faster. Rhylen had to do some convincing to get the others to agree, but she personally believed this would be the best course of action. She was, however, going to be taking care of the girl that lived here with her older sister, and that was going to take a little more work considering the girl obviously wasn't real versed on combat. She planned to ask the others about leaving the dogs behind, but she doubted the others would be okay with that. Hopefully the animals didn't get anyone killed.

With a sigh, Rhylen leaned back in the chair and looked over at the others. The girl Sam had entered the room with the dog, and her sister seemed happy to see the dog. Sam asked when they were going to leave but Rhylen didn't answer, not knowing the details of when they were planning to do so. She wanted to head out soon however, it was about time to get moving, give them more time to reach their destinations before dark. Then came Adira, who suddenly walked in super bubbly and said "good morning".The girl Adira looked like she had showered, and cut her hair? Yeah, Rhylen had remembered the girl had long hair the night before, and no longer does. An eyebrow rose on Rhylen's face, before turning to see the others as everyone had started waking up.They seemed ready for the day, but she could tell they were all nervous. Today they would risk their lives, today, they would be fighting to live and if they didn't manage to stay awake and strong, they would end up dead. It wasn't going to be a fun day, not to mention the groups were going to split up and things were going to get more dangerous with less to help. The group that was going with Julie was far too small, at least in Rhylen's opinion they were, and the only skill they had was Adam. Rhylen couldn't put her finger on it, but that guy was odd.

After looking at the others for a moment, she turned to look back out the blinds, wondering if the kid Tyler would be healed enough to go with the others. He seemed to be healing really quickly, and from what Rhylen could tell from a glance, the other girl did a decent job patching him up... but his injuries and fever had been relatively bad the night before... He was young though, so he would most likely heal faster than an adult would.

Rhylen adjusted her M-16 on her lap and leaned back once more, her gaze drifting back to the others as she waited for the que to go.
