In the End (IC)

"Hey.. hey Go, wake up. C'mon... it's like-" "CHRIST." "Fuckin' stop that, you're not holy enough for that."

Xi's delicate shaking of his friend's shoulder was immediately halted by a loud thud, before an extended grunt. Quickly looking over his shoulder, Chess' boot was pressed hard against the center of Jeson's stomach, his hands gripped around their foot in an attempt to lessen the weight being pushed onto his gut. With quietly muffled stammering, Xi couldn't tell whether Jeson was crying or laughing, perhaps a bit of both? Nonetheless, his sudden outburst seemed to be enough to wake up their red-haired friend, groggily sitting up and rubbing his eyes. During the night, the group had passed by a small café, rather well known and popular as a date location before such apocalyptic catastrophe. An apartment complex was also close by, though with the risk of any of the rooms having some deadly apparition, the gang had decided it was safer to rest in a smaller area where it could quickly be scouted and covered. Finally giving up, Chess pulled their foot away from Jeson's abdomen, causing him to quickly roll to the side before sitting up. Chess simply sent a hard glare in his direction, and the boy averted his gaze back down to the floor, trying to bear the numbing ache in his gut.

"I told you to wake him up gently! Well, at least we're all awake now. I think I have some marmalade left in my bag for everyone to..."

Clearing his throat, Xi looked towards Go.

"...share."

"Uh, you didn't play catch enough with me as a kid so I'm taking my depression of your neglect out on food...?"

"Honey, isn't it a little too late for you to grow?"

"YOU FU-"

Quickly pushing himself up onto his feet, he raised his long sword, ready to send it down on Jeson's head. Something cold pressed down against the side of his neck before he could charge forward, and he didn't need to turn to see who it was. Lowering his weapon, he felt cold sweat drip down his back, the clothing against his shoulders seemingly weighing him down more than he could remember. Loudly expressing his relief in an exhale as the barrel of the gun was pulled away, Chess looked out the large window-covered wall. There was an apartment complex nearby, and if it hadn't already been looted, it seemed like a good place to restock on some things. While the café did have a few water bottles and even tea bags, there wasn't a whole lot of food that remained, a large quantity not being preservatives and spoiled among the course of the apocalypse. Go, quickly overlooking the incident, sat down on the ground with a heavy sigh, Xi quickly scavenging his bag for something the group could eat. It was hard to maintain a group, especially with food pooling, though it did mean that in all they had more stuff to collect. Tossing behind him a few 6 oz plastic containers of marmalade, Go eagerly caught his as another hit Jeson square in the forehead, falling onto his lap. Ripping the lid open with his teeth, Go bit the container itself in his attempts to eat. Making sure to keep a safe 5 foot distance from the boy,Jeson raised his voice in inquiry while opening his.

"So, aren't we going to check out the apartment next door? I wonder if anyone left any cute clothes."

"I hope you die a horrible fucking death."

"In style."

"It's too early in the morning for this. Yeah, we are."

Finally speaking up, Chess leaned their side against the window, rubbing their eyes tiredly. While they could function relatively alright without sleep, it still took some toll on their own health.

"Tired character leaning dramatically against a sun-lit window in the early morning - your cue is up."

"Please, you have self integrity so low I could climb your ego and commit suicide on it."

"Touche."

Surveying outside the window for anything that might pass their way, Xi sat nearby them, shoving a plastic container into their face as they had previously refused. After resting for a little more, it'd be easier to leave while it was still early and light was pouring in from the window, lighting the way for them to travel before dusk arrives.

((im sorry this sucks im trying my best))
