Tallah laid Mac back on his pallet and covered his, now relaxed body, with a soft bedcloth. Turning back to Lyla as she rattled off an unending stream of questions, he nonchalantly struck a nerve in her neck, with a single finger, that rendered her mute. "One must first listen in order to learn. Learn to quiet yourself and listen or you will find yourself quite hushed." Tallah smiled kindly at Lyla, but she would feel a distinct chill run down her spine.
Handing her a blanket as he returned her voice, Tallah patted her head and glided towards the door. "It is not my place to explain anything to you. The Waymaker will reveal what he feels you need to know, but for now, just rest." The fire in the hearth dimmed obligingly as he shut the hut door behind him.
Garren heard the soft shutting of the hut door and immediately sat up straight. "I assume that you will be leaving as soon as the larger one awakens." Tallah suddenly appeared beside Garren. He sat close to Garren and leaned back against his arm comfortably.
"That's right. I will need to take them back to where they belong. Also, I shouldn't be here. Not like this." Garren refused to look at Tallah as he cleared his throat uncomfortably.
"Garren. I am not mad at you. I simply should have known better. It is because of my own ignorance and naivete that I am trapped in the body of a child less than half my age. You are not stationary, and it was foolish of me to think that my love could make you so." Garren winced as Tallah spoke without visible emotion. "You will take those man folk first thing in the morning, and leave this place. I sense that you are needed elsewhere." Tallah stood and strode off into the forest as the moon suddenly burst through the clouds that had previously shielded the sun, and shoned down on the pool.
"And I'm no longer needed here. Huh, Tallah? I got it. I AM sorry." Garren whispered to himself knowing that Tallah could hear every word. He quick portaled into the hut and sat down in a chair. Turning the chair to face Lyla, he smiled softly, though it did not reach his eyes. "I make passageways. I don't know how or why I can, but I've confirmed that it isn't just some innate kind of magic or family Gift. This forest is full of nice people who like to live alongside nature. Tallah is actually 26 years, but is in the form he is now because of something I did. You and Mac will be healed enough for city healers to tend by the morning, which is when we'll be leaving. That's all I'm gonna answer tonight, so go to sleep, and no snooping." Garren gave her a false stern look before porting out.
