In Case Of Apocalypse (Adorasaurus, DeathlyLivings) [Inactive]

Darren nodded, then looked around the darkened room until he noticed a metal box in the corner of the room. "What's that?" he asked as he motioned towards it with his head.

Yui looked over and shrugged.

"I have no idea."

She walked over to it and looked down at it.

She called for Darren to come over.

"I think it's locked" she called out to him. "But I think the padlock is pretty busted up, I think you could probably break it."

From the store room, there was a clatter of metal.

Zoey popped her head around the door.

"Sorry! My bad, I knocked something over."

Darren walked over, placed the body on the floor carefully, then studied the padlock. "Hmmm..... We're going to need a lot of concentration for this. It won't be easy, but I think we can..." Darren stopped abruptly, then brought his foot down on the padlock knocking it loose. "Easier than I thought." He chuckled to himself.

Yui mustered a smile and then opened the box.

Damp, sickly air wafted from inside.

Yui glanced in, sighing as she did so.

"Well, if there was ice in there, it isn't there anymore. Just stagnant water now. Heck knows how long it's been here."

She looked at the body of the unknown man.

"Maybe we could just put him in here for a moment.." she thought aloud.

"It probably isn't the best idea, but it's all we've got for now. Throw him in, Darren" Yui replied, moving aside.

She walked to go check on Zoey in the store room.

Yui leant against the door frame.

"How's it going, Zoey?" she asked, folding her arms and resting a leather boot against the concrete frame."

Zoey looked up, smiling.

"It's going good, I knocked some stuff over. I kicked it over there" Zoey said, pointing to the far corner where a pile of old cans laid messily against the wall.

Yui didn't smile.

"Why didn't you pick them up, then?" she replied calmly, cocking her head slightly.

Zoey stopped what she was doing and faced Yui.

"Because it's not my job to clear up, I'm not a maid."

Yui raised an eyebrow.

"I beg your pardon?" she replied, still as calm as before.

Yui turned to look at Darren.

"We're not fighting, nothing to worry about. Zoey, pick up the cans and put them back where they were, please."

Yui then turned and walked back into the main room, searching for something.

Zoey looked at the pile of cans, then at Darren.

"I'm not picking those up, who does she think she is? Stupid lady, right?" Zoey whispered, giggling quietly and winking at Darren.

There was a faint noise coming from the main room, a light noise, almost like a squeak.

Yui's ears pricked up, pushing up her hood in two places.

Her pupil's dilated as she looked around, her tail flicking underneath her leather trenchcoat.

She listened out for the sound, hearing it once again.

A small growl rumbled from her throat as she searched for the creature.

Darren walked over to the door they had came through days before, studying it, feeling it for vibrations or warmth or anything that would give him an insight to what was happening. "Have you found any weapons yet, Zoey?"

Yui stood straight, her pupils receeding as Darren entered the room.

She flatted her ears quickly as not to draw attention to them.

/the last thing I need is people knowing about this/ she thought to herself.

Zoey pulled a key off of a hook and threw it into the main room.

"This key has 'weapon store' written on it. It's either an actual shop outside the shelter, or one of the lockers in here."

Yui found a locker with some paper taped to it.

*WEAPON LOCKER #01*

She called out to Darren whilst examining the locker.

It was a standard 3-tier gun locker by the looks of the height and metal.

"Does it work? It says this is the first one, so there may be others, I'm not sure."

Yui's left ear twitched again slightly as she heard the sound of the small animal's paws padding around behind the lockers.

Her pupils dilated softly, not by much.

She bit back a growl and tried to focus on Darren instead.

"If it's a tier 3 weapons locker, the metal will be about 1.2mm thick" Yui responded, tapping on the door with her fingernails. "I'd say, though, we might be able to get in. However, we might ruin what's inside. Or set something off."

Zoey came out from the store room with her notepad and pen.

"We have 4 cans of dried food, two large bottles of what I assume is petrol, two medic boxes and 6 flares."

She threw the notebook at Yui, who caught it perfectly. She read through the notes and nodded.

"Good work, Zoey."

"Dammit, I don't want to risk it but if we don't find anything too useful we might have to." He grumbled to himself. "Did you see if there were any others this could fit in?"

Yui shook her head and began searching the row of lockers beside that one.

"We have...weapon storage #2, blank locker, blank locker, this one has a ripped label on it but I think it's another weapons locker and--" she stopped when she reached the last one. "--This one says safety locker."

She cocked her head and tapped on it. There wasn't the usual hollow rattle from inside, it was a heavy thump, as if something was pressed against the door.

"Hm, strange. There's something big in this one" Yui said, tapping on it again.

Yui rolled her eyes, her tail twitching again slightly underneath her trenchcoat. She hoped to herself that neither of the two had noticed her differences yet.

Zoey yawned and stretched, walking over to one of the camp beds and laying on it.

"I'm bored!" she moaned, slamming her foot into the wall with what she thought was force, but was nothing compared to what Darren and Yui could achieve.
