Rose Empson

nina-dobrev-23911.jpg

Just as Rose spoke to Prince Marcus, she was called by Prince Cassius. This time, she did roll her eyes. She chuckled at the irony. Going to not wanting to look at either to having to speak to both of the princes. She was just thrilled. "Wow can't keep the boys off me it seems," she said with a smile. "Anyways gotta go. Duty calls, I guess." Heading towards the older prince, she silently laughed as she recalled that Prince Cassius called her to the couches. Seemed a bit casual for such royalty.

She took back the thought of it being casual. The couch could've been stuffed with feathers of the golden goose. Rose had never seen such a fancy couch, but she bet it was uncomfortable. As she arrived to where the prince was, she casually sat down, even though Cassius was standing. Once Rose was comfortable, she looked up at the prince and smiled politely despite the informal position she sat in to get comfy on the couch. "Hi," she greeted the prince. "How are you on this fine day?" she asked, still with her respectful smile.

~                l~l Whitney Costello l~l             ~

"Well if plan A fails, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet. I have backups."

(Jeez Sorry, Still trying to get a hang of this coding thing.)

"Oh thank you!" she says to the girl who's name was Edie. The girls seemed rather nice and that did relieve some of the tension in her shoulders from the nervousness. "I'm a caste six, I'm a tailor or a seamstress, whatever you want to call it." she says thinking back to the factory that she works in. Honestly, it has only been a day and she was already missing her job, even though her fingers had become callus over the years, and her hands had been poked so many times by the needles that she hardly feels it anymore. Yet, she was itching to have her small sewing machine or even just a plain sewing needle and thread in her hands. She may not have the best living conditions but she did kind of like being a six, though the nice silky clothes, the constantly clean hair, the nice furniture, the, the everything, was nice to have around yet her mind always drifted back to her life at home. Whitney just wondered how her family were doing, especially with the allowance they were getting from her being here.  For now, she needed to focus on being here and just making some friends so she wouldn't be the awkward, quiet one around here. Well, in no dimension was Whitney quiet in any way.

"What caste are you guys in?" she asks curiously, wondering if they were a low caste like her, or up in one of the higher castes that she assumed most of the girls here were.

The other girl, Emerald, seemed to be staring at her, almost as if she was trying remember something, but she looked back at her. The longer she looked at the girl and carefully studied her face, something about it was way too familiar and she couldn't exactly place it.

Emerald reached out and tugged a lock of her hair and that made her think back to when she was a kid, she had finally placed why she knew this girl, and what confirmed it was the nickname she called her. Nini. No one has called her that in years. "Holy crap" she says under her breath not really knowing if her eyes were deceiving her or not. "Emy?" she says, surprise was written all over her face.

She instantly went to hug the girl that she hasn't really seen since she was a child, If she passed her in the factories, she didn't know that she did but Emerald was gorgeous now. Her hair was all nice and smooth, not wild and staticy like when they were young and her skin was soft and didn't have all the scratches or bruises they both got since they both used to run around and scraped their elbows or knees. They tripped down the stairs of the factories countless times, it was a miracle they didn't have brain damage.

Releasing the girl she looked at Edie and she had about the biggest smile on her face for the moment. "Well, I know her caste now but what was yours?" She asked curiously. The buffet table was right in front of them and out of the corner of her eye, she could see a chocolate fountain with an assortment of fruits and what looked like pound cake on a tray in front of it. That was definitely something she would be taking a look at in a minute.

Prince Marcus Jackson

After hearing both of the girls responses, Mark was a bit annoyed to have his bother call one of their names, since he was exited to talk to both of them. watching Rose go, he was left with only one, Shannon. although he wasn't complaining. after all, one is better than no one. Turning to Shannon, he gave her a smile and began to answer her question. "believe it or not, life here can get pretty boring and lonely sometimes. we dont get many visitors, other than maybe some advisers and the occasional celebrity". seeing that she acquired a champagne, he decided to follow in her footsteps and take one himself. after taking a small sip, he continued "although there is so much to do here. we have a room for almost anything". he said the last part with a bit of a giggle. it was true, they almost did have a room for almost anything "I however, use most of my free time honing my musical and artistic skills". after taking another sip, Mark asked her a question "what about you, whats life like outside the castle?"

She slowly straightened out when she finished bowing and Aria looked at Enzo when he told her that he was only joking. "It did not seem as if you were," she told him as she didn't dare look at him, still feeling a bit flustered. But it isn't like her to not give eye contact when she is talking to someone which is the many good traits about her. "It seems as if Santiago is busy, so I guess not..." she said to Enzo as her voice lowered a little bit and she looked down at the glossy beautiful floors. Santiago still hadn't answered her request about using the restrooms so Aria thought she might as well hold everything in for now since he looked to be busy with the Queen and not to mention nervous as well since he was basically shaking a bit in her presences.

Aria turned her head to look to the Queen and she listened closely to what the queen had to say. Aria bowed again and smiled," Thank you, my Queen..." Aria was glad that the queen had told her that she didn't inturrupt anything but for now, Aria kept her mouth shut and left Santiago with the others. 'Maybe I will try to forget that I need to use the restroom if I go and sit down to eat something,' she thought to herself as she slowly walked away and she thought she might come back later to ask Santiago the same question. Aria just didn't know whether or not she could hold it in for that long, but she was going to try.

Tobias nodded as the Queen gave him instructions on what to do soon after. "Of course." He then heard the voice from earlier-- Aria as she told him his words earlier hadn't sounded like a joke. He grinned, looking down at the caatle floor tiles for a moment before watching her go. He'd decided against saying anything else as to not make the whole situation more awkward than it needed be, especially with her royal highness present. "There anything I can do in the meanwhile? If not, I can continue observing with the other guards." He glanced back at Alexandre and Santiago then back to the Queen.

"Well, I can assure you there are boring days on the outside as well," she commented, still holding herself so that she was standing as straight as she could so that their heights were about matched. Her height had always been how she intimidated people, but now it was to tell him that she wasn't someone to be tricked. She wasn't in this to have her heart played with, and she wanted him to know this now.

"Though, living with five brothers, I'm sure my definition of boring is... different than most," she said with a chuckle.

After noticing where exactly Rose had come from he felt a little bad but pushed that away for the moment being since he had no clue his brother had been speaking with her. But now that he knew that it gave him a bit of motivation to get through this so he could have her return to Marcus and speak with her, yet that may be an issue if questions took long for him to create. But soon after he sat down as well, "I'm doing quite well and I hope the same for you. Also don't worry about time i'll make this as quick as possible that way I don't delay my brother the privilege to speak with you." He said with a gentle smile on that. He honestly felt pretty bad about taking the girl his brother was speaking with from him so he was intending to let him speak with her again as soon as he could do such.

"So i'm going to ask you a couple of questions. I'd like you to answer them in as much depth as you're comfortable with. So first question then.. What do you believe should be done for the betterment of the people?" This was his first question ans he knew exactly what was in mind for the next question since he only planned to ask two questions. So with a small smile he began his second one to make sure she'd have time to think about her answer rather than just saying one to say it. "The second question is. How do you believe you could help with the betterment you see could be made. After answering these two questions your are welcome to ask any questions you have for me" He said with a smile hoping not to make her feel rushed but also to make sure they didn't have to be delayed too long since he knew his brother may want his friend back.

Rose turned her gaze from upwards to eye-level as she looked at Prince Cassius sitting down on the couch like she was. However he was sitting more proper and stiff unlike her. Like his brother, he was very attractive as well. Although, it didn't faze Rose unlike how it might have with some other girls. She also took notice his eyes were a very beautiful shade of green. The eyes seemed intense and focus, but they showed how he was a caring guy. She shrugged. "I wouldn't call it a privilege," she said with a smirk, addressing his worry about delaying her conversation with Prince Marcus. Nodding at what Cassius said, Rose focused. Then, she realized how pointless that was and asked herself why she was even focusing in the first place. She wouldn't be picked. Her answers wouldn't matter. However whenever she had that thought, the prince started to ask the first question. What he asked hit a little close to home, causing her to decide to truly answer it, even if she thought it wouldn't make a difference. What's the worst that could happen?

"I believe we should treat everyone as equals, no matter their castes," Rose told him, probably the first time she said something serious this whole time here. Rose had always felt insecure about her caste, especially since her mother had been so ashamed about it. It was one of the reasons she was signed up for the Selection. Folding her arms, Rose answered the second question. "I think the castes are pointless. They shouldn't be a thing," she spat out, not caring about what she just said. She knew the castes were a pretty big deal, but they prevented everyone from feeling equal. "The only thing they do is establish a status. Make people feel like they're better than others." The way she spoke was monotone like usual, as if what she said was casual. Her arms still folded, Rose asked Cassius "How do you feel about the castes? You're mother's a 6. Does it make your look on her different?" Rose knew that some were unsure about Queen Juliana's reign since she was a low 6, even though she was happy as one. She wanted to know one of her son's thoughts.

Aria had gone to do what she told herself that she would do, and that is to go and sit down and eat. She was eating steak and asparagus with a really creamy yet thick sauce that was poured on top of the meal. It was pretty delicious and when she was done she began to sip on some water. Boy, did that water come back and bite her in the rear end. Thirty minutes later, she finds herself tapping her foot and pressing her legs together really tightly again. Aria shook her head and rolled her eyes a bit, she was pretty annoyed at the fact that Santiago completely ignored her when she asked to go to the bathroom. But then again, it was the queen and she did have more authority then Aria could ever have. Aria knew she couldn't blame him. Aria watched as a maid with blonde hair come and gets her plate, Aria thanked her and watched as she left with the plate and into another door that was to the side of the room. It was where the maids could easily enter and exit from the kitchen into the room to deliver the food. Aria bit her lip and looked around to see whether or not Santiago or Enzo or even Alex was looking her way but she saw that they weren't. Aria was a very patient person, but drastic times, call for drastic measures and she didn't want to interrupt the Queen anymore so she got up and slowly but casually walked towards the door, hoping that she will go unseen.

Cassius J.

For a moment he was stunned not knowing exactly what to say but within a moments notice regained his composition and regained himself once more. "Well if you don't mind i'll answer the question is a bit of an odd order." He said so he could actually make up his mind on what he wanted to say. After registering her feelings on the matter he knew his father would disprove greatly of such treason against the class system which worried him a bit for how this girl would be able to handle herself within the castle. Personally he wished her the best and she wouldn't be having any harm come to her but he knew for a fact that if his father had caught word of this.. it would more than likely leave a bitter taste to his tongue. "I don't look at my mother any different than anyone else. We're all human after all I hope, and because of that we're all equal." He said this to answer the second half of her question, then came the time to answer the first half.

He took a short breath in before letting it back out again, "To be entirely honest I don't see the caste system as necessarily bad.. it has it's vices don't get me wrong but. To an extent it's an exaggerated look upon the previous societies methods of organization. While I do believe it may be a bit much to have power in the hands of merely one or two people rather than getting a populous vote, it seems to be necessary since it upholds the order of people. If we didn't have any sort of organization or a leader then we may up at the doorstep of chaos and that could be detrimental to everyone. So I suppose the way to say how I see the caste system in short.. if that it's a necessary evil for our current situational needs" with that he had stated his full-hearted opinion on the matter without any form of holding back except knowing his own ways he was taught to be proper even though it may not have seen to be the absolute best option for him in the long-run. With a slight bit of moving he re-situated himself to the point he looked less stiff and up-tight, "I care about the people I may have to be the king over one day.. everyone deserve respect and care. There are absolutely no exceptions" He said this with a deep-rooted love for his future 'kingdom' that was for sure.

Edie smiled politely as she listened to Whitney, noticing that she was also in Caste Six. ''What a coincidence! Em is also-" But before Edie could utter another word, she watched as her two new friends reunite. At first, a confused face dawned upon her face but as they began to hug, Edie couldn't help herself but smile and join in with the hug. Sure, she didn't know either of them properly but everyone deserved a hug, including herself. After releasing both of the Caste Six girls, Edie wrapped a loose strand of pink hair behind her ear before listening to Whitney's question, "I'm a Caste Five," She smiled as she took a bite from her apple.

"So, what was the prince like?" Edie asked curiously, remembering that Whitney was one of the few lucky girls to meet one of the Princes. The girl wasn't nervous about meeting the prince, that was a lie but when she was thinking to herself she realised that they were just another human being so why couldn't treat them like one? Edie kept a small smile on her rosy lips as she noticed a grand piano sitting near a corner. "Wow," Edie muttered under her breath as she lightly poked Emerald in the shoulder before pointing towards the piano, "Look how pretty it is!" She loudly whispered. Unlike most castes, they probably wouldn't understand her admiration for the piano but to her, it seemed like an angel had blessed it as she tried to fight the urge to play it.

Rose noticed the perfect prince seemed a bit taken back. She wasn't surprised, though. Rose knew not a lot of people would say that, especially to the prince. However, Cassius composed himself. Of course he would've had some kind of training. Maybe he really was perfect. Waiting for him to respond, she tapped her foot, getting a bit impatient. She wanted to hear his response. She knew it would be against what she just said, but Rose was still interested on what he would say. Surprisingly, Rose allowed herself to smile. It was kind that he thought of his mother the same. It was even kinder that he thought everyone was equal. Surely naive, but kind nonetheless.

She nodded at what Cassius said. It was a bit overwhelming, but she understood. If they weren't on a schedule, Rose's first response would be to argue back. However, she kept her mouth shut and didn't want to make a scene. Now, she was just hoping she could go back and talk to Shannon, even if the other prince was there. Shannon allowed her to voice more of her full opinions, unlike Cassius made her feel. "Wow," she finally spoke once the prince said all of his thoughts. "You sure have a lot of knowledge and opinions, huh?" she asked him, addressing such the long viewpoint he had. At least he didn't think the castes were perfect. "I appreciate your outlook on all of it," she said, actually sounding sincere.

"wow, and i thought living with one brother was hard" Mark giggled in his deep baritone voice "I cant imagine what that would be like". he noticed that Shannon was a bit more confidant than Aria, with Shannon standing up a bit straighter and was holding her chin up with pride. Mark liked this. he always admired a woman that had confidence.

"So, tell me a bit more about yourself Shannon. i already know that you have a large family. what are some of your hobbies?" he really wanted to know more about this girl

She snorted a laugh at his comment on her brothers and scanned his face curiously. He did seem genuinely interested in her, but she wasn't the type of girl to go all cream just because he 'seemed interested'.

"I do like to paint," she responded, curious to see how he reacted, she was worried for Rose's sanity however as she seemed to be conversing rather uncomfortably with the older prince," I've never been able to put much time into it, but I've been told I'm rather good at it. And dance, though I'll admit on that one I think I'll keep more as a hobby."

She chuckled, thinking of her dancing skills; on a scale of one to ten, ten being the best, Shannon's skill sat roughly at five or six. She wasn't bad, but she definitely wasn't about to win any awards.

"How about you, Prince Marcus?" she asked, a bit of an underlying sour tone placed on his title and name. Everyone should be treated the same, without titles in her opinion; she knew that it was an unpopular one in her caste, but she'd never cared before, nor did she now.

Again, Another girl that shared a similar interest. looks like he needed to go on some art dates afterwards "Believe it or not, i actually am into painting myself". A smile then crept across Marks face as he looked around the room. he noticed that one of his pieces were hanging up against a wall right behind Shannon "you see that painting right there" he said, pointing behind her "thats one of my best pieces" he chuckled a bit "took me two weeks to complete that one"

Aria waited until she was out of eyes reach and she slipped herself through the opening that was left when one of the maids had gone out. Aria was weaving her way through the storm that was in the kitchen. It was mayhem in there, maids from left to right, and so many dishes being prepared. Aria put her index finger on her mouth whenever every maid turned to look at her and told her that she wasn't suppose to be going through here. Aria thought it was the best way to tell them not to speak any louder, when she finally made it out she went up the stairs and out of a door. When she went out, she was in a corridor where the lights were dim but there was plenty of natural light that shined through the windows. Aria wandered around looking for the bathroom, she knew she should have asked one of the maids in the kitchen but that was surprisingly not on her mind at the moment of her 'escape.' She wouldn't have to be in this situation if Santiago didn't go gaga over the queen, but she knew it wasn't in her place to blame him because it wasn't his fault at all. Aria knew that the bedrooms were upstairs, so there was no harm in peaking through each of the doors till she found a bathroom. Man this place is large, she thought to herself as her heels were the only sounds that echoed through the hallway.

Five

Compliments, even simple ones, had always made Dakota smile. This one was no exception. "Thanks," she gushed, giving Adelaide a large, genuine smile. "My maid and I both decided simplicity was best, since it is what I'm used to." Noticing the other girl's attentiveness, she realized that maybe Adelaide had a similar career to her. Dakota didn't think she'd connect with someone so easily, especially since this girl seemed a bit introverted. Then again, back home, Dakota was known to be the girl who broke others out of their shells. Maybe she'd achieve that with Adelaide.

She let out a small giggle as Adelaide gulped down a pastry, having eyed them herself. Choosing a different one, she took a small bite out of it, turning back to the other girl. Dang, these sweets were good. Of course, no one could top her mom's chocolate chip cookies, but that was probably just bias. Hearing Adelaide's question, she subtly licked the remaining crumbs off her lips, before stating, "I'm a Five. Though I'll admit, I can't play music to save my life. I'm way better at painting." After a pause, she tilted her head, pure curiosity in her eyes. "How about you?"

Vanessa Nuvari

Vanessa smiled at Prince Cassius and stood up. She bowed her head in respect and walked away. As she was heading for the banquet table to get something to eat, she crossed paths with another of the Selected girls. The woman looked like a queen and was obviously of higher class than Vanessa was. She held her arm out to Vanessa in offering with a gentle smile, asking if she could speak to her. Vanessa was skeptical at first, as she didn't trust easily, but she figured it couldn't do much harm. Taking the woman's arm, Vanessa walked with her.

"What did you need?" she asked.

Quissiella walked towards the side of the ballroom, to get some privacy with Vanessa. Quissiella smiled towards her and introduced herself:

"I'm Quissiella, I am planning to win this game, I am going for Cassius", direct and honest was what Quissiella was going for. She smiled at Vanessa, hoping she would understand this style Quissiella had chosen as her battle strategy. "What did he say? It looked like you got him thinking. I am willing to give you the information on both the princes if you tell me, I can even help you with Marcus, if you want him." She kept her eyes on Vanessa as they stopped a few feet from the wall, Vanessa was a cute woman. Her look was natural and warm and the dress she had gotten gave her a more angelic look, a more innocent look. She laughed silently to herself, the pink in her dress took the only warmth she had in her own skin and drown it out. Though she guessed Vanessa had more time out in the sun than she did, and silver looked better on light skin anyways. Quissiella once again tried to flatten out her dress, and once again it stayed as puffy as before.

He nodded reluctant himself that he had such a short amount of time with everyone but he also believed that it was a slight bit taxing to go from one person to the next and then on to another yet again mere moments afterwards. But each of their opinions was valuable to him and he decided to keep each of them in mind as best he could, for that reason he now planned to take a slight break from calling people over so he could actually just think back on everyone and all the information that they had. But before he could do that he knew he had to make sure Rose was able to go an socialize with the rest of the selected girls. With that in mind he smiled at her response and nodded respectfully to her since she alike the ranks of everyone else was practically his equal, he was sure each of them were unequal in some extent by a skill proceeding above another as everyone had those unique and respective qualities.

"As have I with your responses to my questions. I thank you for telling me what I believe to be your honest opinion upon the matter and I hope the best for you within this competition." He said before giving her a slight bow signifying her dismissal back into the group of Ladies and servants. That was the main thing he could think of doing since it allowed her to go back to everyone and socialize once more. He lost a slight bit of his prim and proper stature as he leaned back against the couch more casually, "You're free to go and socialize with everyone else or do whatever you wish to" He said gently with a soft smile remaining on his face.

Aria wandered around the halls until she founds a bathroom. Aria used the bathroom and when she was her day she freshened up and by that she checked her makeup and hair to see if everything looked alright. As she was done she made her way back to the ballroom, when she entered everyone in the room was pretty quiet. Nobody seemed to be interacting for the most part and Aria didn't necessarily like that, it made her feel a bit gloomy and depressed on her side. Aria walked over to the window and looked into the distance as she watched the clouds passing through the sky. Aria wondered when she was going to get to talk to Prince Cassius since she hadn't spoken to him yet.
